"Don't book suite; basic rooms are better!"
After viewing the pictures online, I was quite excited for my first stay at the Savoy Hotel. The lobby, bar, and staircases are quite impressive. The rooms are large, but I have a few complaints. When we arrived, our room on the executive floor was very warm so the bellhop showed us how to use the air conditioning. We left a key in the room to cool […] while we went out to dinner. Upon returning around midnight, the room was hotter than before! The staff came to look at the air, but couldn't figure it out, so they changed our room. While the second room was a bit cooler to begin, the A/C ultimately did not work either. With a heavy down comforter, we spent a very uncomfortable night. In addition, the room that they moved us to was much smaller, without access to the executive coffee room, and they didn't provide a reimbursement. My parents, who were staying in another suite on the same floor, also had a very hot not with a malfunctioning air conditioner. The second night, we asked to be moved to a basic room. They moved us to a room on the first floor which was both a cheaper price and had A/C that worked. Overall, the staff was helpful and friendly, but DON'T pop for the suites! They are overpriced and less comfortable than the basic rooms! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Oasis in a busy metropolitan city"
Excellent value for the money. Very helpful staff, good location, wonderful breakfast. I had a quiet room, and it was an oasis of quiet in a busy city. Not sure if it is a good place with small children. The structure though is just great old style BAGenuine Expedia guest review

"Gorgeous, classy hotel"
I was delighted with this hotel - loved the decor, classy with a stylish modern flair. The rooms are as nice in reality as they look in the pictures, and all of the furnishings are very high quality. The service was 5 star. For the price, this was a fantastic deal. I definitely plan to stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beautiful hotel, conveniently located"
Overall, I had a very nice experience staying at the Savoy, but with a few changes the hotel can make it an excellent experience. The Good. The building is absolutely beautiful, built in the grand style of the rich, prosperous Buenos Aires of the early 20th century. It has recently been renovated, preserving its exquisite details while making it fresh […] and clean. The rooms are contemporary style which I like, as long as it is not overdone (see below). The staff at the reception desk, bar, bell boy are all very friendly and all speak fluent English. The location is good -- close to the Congreso, Avenida 9 de Julio, etc.; the street is safe, although it is not the most beautiful avenue. The windows are double glazed and are pretty good at blocking out street noise. The not-so-good. Like some other contemporary-style hotels, it appears they chose style over function. There isn't enough light in the bathroom. No full length or make-up mirrors; no coffee/tea maker. The closet has no doors -- and no drawers. As a matter of fact, there are no drawers anywhere in the room. There's no radio/alarm clock/iPod dock. The pillows are not good quality and when I asked for down pillows I was told they didn't have any. The nice breakfast buffet does not include decaf coffee (you can get it for an extra charge). Not all rooms have tubs, which did not bother me but it may bother some. I would recommend this hotel but potential guests should know what they can expect. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hotel Savoy in Buenos Aires"
We loved our stay at this hotel. Everything was wonderful except for the construction right outside our hotel, but they were working on finishing it while we were there. The room itself was amazing! The bathroom shower was especially wonderful compared to any other hotels I've ever stayed in, even in large cities in the US. The bed was comfortable and […] our room was very clean and spacious. Also, the front desk staff was very helpful in getting showing us where to go, how to follow the subway and what taxis to take and even in getting us to the airport. The location was very close to a subway station so we could get where we'd like. Our location was a little far from Palermo, but it still sufficed for only being there for 3 days. Lastly, the breakfast was fabulous. I have stayed at nice hotels in Vegas, Chicago, New York, etc. This was definitely a very nice hotel and I would recommend this to everyone going to Buenos Aires. We got a very reasonable rate booking the hotel the same day we arrived, so it was a wonderful value for such a great stay! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Savoy Hotel, Buenos AIres, Argentina"
We were pleasantly surprised to enter this beautiful hotel with its elaborate furnishings and circular staircase. the rooms have been updated and were kept immaculately clean. The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruits, cakes, and hot breakfast items. The waitresses were professional, friendly, and smiling, and most helpful in serving. All the bellmen […] were professional and one particularly, Santiago, was most helpful giving us informations to museums, restaurants and tidbits about Buenos AIres. "Savoy Hotel--not a business hotel"
They didn't have basic business amenities. The business center's computers had extremely slow internet connection, also while there was a printer, was not connected to any of the computers there. The desk never had any pesos to exchange even though they kept telling us they would go to the bank in the morning. Still nothing. They didn't even have […] tape at the front desk. TAPE! The rooms were large and comfortable, but for spending big bucks on a junior suite, I hope so. The reservation said two queen sized beds, but when we arrived it was two TWIN sized beds. So...it was a bit misleading. I definitely would NOT come back, even though the location was close to my clients, the area is gritty at night. It wasn't particularly unsafe at night, but there was a certain Gotham feel to it. Maybe this place would be good for tourist, but as a person in BsAs for business, NOT a hotel to stay at. "Historic without being old"
We weren't sure what to expect. The photo's of the hotel were exactly like the real thing. Beautiful reception rooms, landings etc with antique features, photo's etc. The upmarket, modern reception, dining and bedrooms were great, you went from the old, but well maintained to the new trendy rooms and were comfortably impressed. The beds were super comfortable, […] clean and had everything you needed. The staff were most helpful with online checkin for the airline, directions and everything we asked for. "Quality in a great location."
Fantastic hotel which still retains great tradition, room was good quality and spotlessly clean, service was so proffessional and its location was ideal to explore Buenos Aires. A great visit and at 80 odd pound a night, excellent value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good price for a great room"
I was really happy with the service, my room and the price. Although the area was okay, it's really close to micro centro for those who are in Buenos Aires on Business, Subte line B and A are quite close.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had the opportunity to stay at Savoy for 3 nights during our recent visit to Buenos Aires. The hotel is very centrally located and within walking distance to the Nationl Congress, Independence square. The hop on hop off station is within walking distance to the hotel so are the metro stations. The rooms are very well decorated and we found the staff […] very helpful. If the great Albert Einstein. & Eva Peron were guests there why not us. Would like the hotel to provide tea/coffee making facilities that we Australians have got used. That aspect was lacking in all S.American hotels. Maybe Hotel.com can recommend them. Starbucks and other fast food outlets were close by too. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location, but pricey for the amenities."

"If you stay here don't eat here"
Hotel is in a poor location, not near any attractions on a busy street. When we arrived we were sent away to another hotel for the first night because 'plumbing problems' meant we couldn't check in until the next day. The hotel is nicely decorated but I wouldn't stay there again. The food in the restaurant and bar is appallingly bad. There's very little […] to choose from the quality is awful. One night I was served a chicken curry that was simply inedible. A few chunks of chicken literally floating in green water. I suspected it was off. When my partner told staff it tasted bad and I couldn't eat it they offered me nothing else and made him pay for the meal with no apology that we weren't happy with the food. I went to nearby supermarket to get bread and cheese to eat in my room for dinner instead. The breakfast buffet is OK - same as any other hotel. If you stay here don't eat here. The hotel was lovely. Initially we were given a room on the street, which I found much too noisy, so we swapped to a room in the back. It had absolutely no view and was very dark, but it was clean and spacious and at least I was able to sleep! The breakfasts were nothing to write home about but overall the hotel was pretty good value we thought.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"2012 Tripadvisor award well deserved."
Stunning hotel: lots of character, modern but retaining all the old character in its beautiful decor, spacious rooms and public areas, loved being greeted by Eva Peron or Albert Einstein lifesize photos in the lift. Reception staff were lovely - most helpful and pleasant with checking in, knowledgeable with enquiries and giving advice for getting around, […] tours and sights, safety. Breakfast was good (loved the champagne). The bar area just off the lobby is great: not your typical 'bar' but a beautiful and welcoming setting with lots of seating (small tables and comfortable chairs and lounges in clusters) to have a drink or food (very reasonably priced but no compulsion to buy), meet with friends, use wifi, or just sit and soak up the atmosphere. "Re Living the 'Glory Days'"
The concierge were great, helping us with bookings and general advise. The breakfast was good. Our only complaint was with the wifi, it was not available in the bedrooms, only in the lobby/bar area, which we found inconvenient. It did however get us out of our room to enjoy the bar area and its decor, not to mention sipping on a Mojito, while we attended […] to our emails. The hotel is old, and has a grand history which you feel when sitting in the bar, or taking the lift or climbing the stairs to discover very wide landings each decorated differently and reflecting the 'glory days'. I walked every floor to look at the paintings furnishings and photographs, and my only complaint was there were no name plates to say who was who, except for the lift. The bedrooms are large with very high ceilings, and modern bathroom facilities. Our room faced the front of the building and we were pleased that there was no traffic noise, even though we were on a busy street. The air conditioning works well. The hotels location may not be considered the top end of town, but we found we could easily walk everywhere during the day and caught taxis (very cheap) at night, and never had any problems. "Lovely Historic Hotel - Not So Lovely Room"
This hotel is unique and elegant . The beauty has been nicely maintained in the public areas, but the rooms are small and "modern" and have little charm, although they are very clean. The bathroom is spacious and beautifully lit. Although there is a large bathtub you likely can't enjoy a bath as the faucet only dribbles when you try to fill the tub. […] The water isn't hot enough to use the shower to fill and would probably take a very long time in any case. The breakfast was above average and included scrambled eggs and bacon as well as the usual continental items. The tomato bruschetta was a nice treat and, of course, the champagne was a nice surprise. The staff were knowledgable, usually bilingual and very courteous. I spent one day on a walking trip and went to Florida street to shop. Certainly, an interesting city with plenty of bargains to be found. Check out the street vendors for interesting handmade crafts. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and will certainly book here again. "4 star hotel"
Very nice hotel but in a not so nice neighbourhood. There are no restaurants of high caliber in the neighbourhood. High ceiling, granite sink, hardwood floors, first class linen but we are used to North American standard i.e. with coffee maker, microwave in the room and friendlier, smiling staff. "Too Good for the Neighbourhood!"
This recently renovated hotel stands out in a neighbourhood in dire need of investment. Sidewalks are dilapidated and most surrounding buildings have definitely known better days (decades ago). Though everything in the hotel is brand new, there are already maintenance problems. The electronic key in the first room I was assigned could nver be made […] to work. Two days later, due to unknown causes, the electric fuses for my room went off. In both cases, hotel personnel seemed at loss as to what to do. "Loved the Savoy"
This hotel was a delight! There are so many good things to say about it, from my beautiful and incredibly quiet room (on one of the inside skylight-courtyards), to the finest continental breakfast I've had anywhere -- there's not enough space here to give sufficient praise. The staff are outstanding and mostly bi- or tri-lingual (any communication […] issues were my fault for not knowing more Spanish) and my only complaint is that they're short-handed at check-in and check-out -- although this is a minor complaint and the staff were able to multi-task at high speed. There's an ATM a block away (Banco de la Nación) and an excellent supermercado (Disco) just two blocks away. Having the supermercado so close was fantastic, I was tired of restaurants and of lousy food on a small boat for a month in the Antarctic. The #1 buy in the world, a liter bottle of Heineken for about 5 pesos ($1.25US) and also a large selection of those delicious Argentine wines at great prices. Great cheeses and salumi also. I spent hours enjoying the hotel's gorgeous bar. The drinks were on the expensive side, but it was a wonderful place to eat supper and to "hang out" for hours when I got tired of sitting in the room. My only complaints were (1) the little fridge in my room was inoperative and remained that way for 5 days even after the front desk said that they'd take a look, and (2) the cigarette smoke blew in from the sidewalk outside and polluted the bar. Next time I'm in Buenos Aires, I'll stay here again without a second thought. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Outstanding bed and breakfast at Hotel Savoy"
Our king size bed was so comfortable. I had one of the best sleeps away from home during all my travels in the last few years. The breakfast was also outstanding in its variety and quality. They serve a cold gazpacho tomato soup in a mini bowl which made a delicious start to my breakfast. The selection of fresh and marinated fruit was also exceptional. […] We found access to the Internet set on the mezzanine to be most convenient. There is an ATM right next door. We asked the hotel to recommend a restaurant for our wedding anniversary celebration and thoroughly enjoyed Cabana Las Lilas located at the waterfront in Puerto Madero. Upon returning to our hotel room after dinner, a tray with champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries and other goodies had been set on our bed. It was such a thoughtful surprise.
