"Great Location..Hotel lacking"
What a weird experience... We (2 adults and 2 kids) arrived to a great suite (the kids didn't mind the bad sleeper sofa) we unpacked, and enjoyed a few hours at the great rooftop pool. The location is great not too loud and convenient to many great South Beach locations. The beach club was a haul for two youngsters ( 3 & 6 ), but was very nice once […] we got there. Our plan was to hit the beach until lunch or so and then enjoy the pool each afternoon. This was not to be... The pool was closed the rest of our visit (3 of the 4 afternoons of our visit). They told us we could use the pool next door but it was also closed for service until after dinner on our final night. I understand the need for service but we weren't informed of any of this by the front desk. We would pick up towels and head to the pool only to be met by caution tape and an empty pool. We would then head to the neighboring pool and be informed that the pool was also closed. My wife and I could handle this, but try telling that to two children who wanted some play time. They said the sundeck was open, perfect for roasting your kids without a pool. The continental breakfast was lacking. No Fruit in Florida??? two choices of cereal, no toast or butter and bad coffee.. The picture you see does NOT resemble this hotel at all. It's a total WOW when you arive. The room was very small, it was not worth the fortune we paid for it. The private beach is four blocks away. You pay a daily fee for the private beach and you have to walk through the slums to get there. "It's a shame that we won't be returning."
The hotel is in a wonderful location and the staff is polite, so it is a shame that we won't be returning. I believe that this was our fourth stay on business within four months. With the exception of our first visit, every room that we stayed in after that had small bugs. These bugs were on our food, belongings and even our own bodies. I had to try […] to hide and cover anything that could possibly attract them, but I even found them crawling on my arms while brushing my teeth. The staff tries the minimize the problem, but they are unable to get rid of the building of these tiny menaces. During our last stay, there was no internet in the rooms. "THE BEST service we've EVER had"
We were here for 3 nights after a year in Santa Barbara, on our way home to the UK via Florida. When we arrived at the hotel we had a BIG problem (won't go into details here). The hotel dealt with it for us and we have to give them a great big thankyou - our trip could have been ruined after an already highly stressful day getting there (a different […] story!). The hotel is right on the front, the building is at deco (at least inside) and the rooms fine and well maintained. We used the rooftop pool and hot-tub once each and also (3 times) the 'private' beach area which is a 10 minute walk to another Bentley hotel where you get a padded sunbed and parasol. You also get free internet use and an excellent free breakfast - the pastries are fantastic. If we had to find a fault I guess the hot water for the tea could do with being hotter. If we go back to Miami we wouldn't even consider anywhere else. Oh, and if you mention you're staying in the hotel the restaurant outside the entrance (Bellini) will give you a 25% discount... My husband and I stayed here because we were going to Key West the next day and wanted to stay on South Beach since neither of us had ever been. "Won't go back"
When I arrived they put me in a one bedroom which was very small I was supposed to have a one bedroom suite. I called to the front desk and told them that Carlos said I would have a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen. The guy put me on hold to speak with Carlos and they moved me with no problem (thanks Carlos). The carpet in the bedroom could use […] a deep deep cleaning the area rug in the living room could also use some intense cleaning. One of the chairs in the living room had nails sticking out I called they sent someone up but he couldn't repair it so we had to put a towel over it in order to sit on the chair. Other than that our room was good. Sidebar go to the liquor store and get what you need cause the mini bar is very pricey. The lady in the room next to mine got bit real bad (BED BUGS in room 502). The Bentley private beach section is 4 long blocks away (I didn't like that cause it's to hot to be walking that far for the beach when you have a beach right across the street that you would have to pay for the chairs and umbrella. "Not if you want to sleep...."
I understand I stayed on South Beach and I understand that it is in a party area, but this was one of the worst stays I have ever had anywhere. I should also add I am far from a light sleeper and I am very hard of hearing and I have spent plenty of time in Las Vegas with the party crowds. First the room - it was fine, it was clean, spacious and the […] bed comfortable, but to room is far from soundproof. As you lay in bed you could hear every foot step thudding from the hallway above. Then came the drunk girls who started screaming up and down the hallway starting at 1am. While I don't hold the hotel accountable for their guest's actions, I do hold them accountable if they do not take steps to curb the behavior. All of this activity took place just steps away from the lobby and went on for hours. We, as the guests, were the ones who repeatedly had to ask for them to be quiet. Once the drunk girls went to bed around 5am, we got a little peace until the 6am construction started and we could hear every bang even though we were in an internal room. In the two nights we were there I maybe got a total of 5 hours of sleep. When we asked the front desk for a dinner recommendation they told us to head downstairs to Bellini and as a guest we received a special discount on everything. Well that was a lie - the card they gave us that said 20% off of all food and drinks were the same cards that they were handing out to everyone on the street and they didn't cover everything, but of course the restaurant doesn't tell you that until your bill comes. So be prepared to have a $15 Stoli plus mixer + almost 10% sales tax + the automatic 16% gratuity on your bill but no 20% discount because even though it is a "drink" it is not one of their expensive specialty drinks so no discount. The staff was nice enough, the friendliest being the housekeeper who was very pleasant. While we did find the staff to be nice, they seemed very inept. The setup of the hotel was unimpressive. We first entered the hotel entrance which consisted of an elevator and a door to the restaurant. We then took the elevator to the 2nd floor for check-in at the front desk. (Positive note: the front desk staff was helpful and the balcony attached to the lobby had a great view). We were placed on the 3rd floor […] and of course we had to take another elevator to get to it. The major disappointment was the setup of the room which was very smalled compared to the pictures or videos. In addition there was not a full length mirror anywhere in the hotel. Which, I feel is necessary in any hotel in order for guest to view their attire. However after staying three nights I left feeling refreshed since the hotel was very , extremely, quiet and I got plenty of rest.
