This hotel was perfect for our recent stay in NY--right across the street from Grand Central and a short walk to many classic New York sites. The room was small, but we had a king sized bed. The closet was large, a refrigerator was available, and the bathroom quite well sized. The staff was very friendly, held our bags for early check-in, and recommended a nice place for Sunday brunch. The room was a little noisy the first night. We stayed on the second floor--but it is the middle of NY city, so we felt the noise was to be expected. Overall, a great hotel that we will definitely stay in again.

We stayed for a long weekend in NYC and loved the location. We were within one block of Grand Central Station; two blocks walk to the UN; few blocks walk to Times Square and theater district; few blocks walk in other direction to great shopping on 5th Ave. Staff were attentive to our needs and adjacent Wheeltapper Pub served good food and excellent desserts. We booked through hotels.com so had a room with the air conditioner register facing the bed which was inconvenient but that's what we paid for! My girlfriend in an adjacent room did not have that inconvenience. All in all a most pleasant weekend stay.

Charming hotel that has an European feel to it. Nice decor with an atmosphere of visiting an Irish castle. The pub and the restaurant in the hotel was kind of pricey ($8 for pint of beer, etc..) but very convenient. There are plenty of affordable restaurants around the hotel and inside Grand Central Station. Subway station across the street and walking distance to Time Square area and Broadway. Third Ave has a plethora of pubs and restaurants. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We were just a little disappointed with the view, can't really see out of the window for a view of the city but that's just New York.

This being NYC, we didn't spend too much time in the hotel other than to shower and sleep! That being said, the Fitzpatrick is quaint, conveniently located, clean and comfortable (especially the bed!). My ONLY complaint, and it's pretty minor, would be a lack of vending machines within the hotel. We did not eat in the restaurant, but did have a drink in the pub, which felt cozy and authentic.

This is a great hotel in a great location with great value! Upon check-in we were told that the king-size bed confirmed at reservation was a mistake & all they had was queen-size. To accommodate the difference they offered us an upgrade to a slightly larger room & a free drink in the bar - a nice way to settle in to the City! Hotel staff were friendly & accommodating. They quickly brought to the room, a roll-away bed without linens. We notified the front desk that we needed linens & another robe. Both were there when we returned to the room after our drinks. The room was very clean (a spoon left in the sink was probably overlooked by housekeeping). The bed was great - very comfortable! Although the room fronted the street, it was very quiet. There was a refrigerator, robes, a large umbrella for our use if needed, iron & board, pants press, safe, hair dryer & plenty of thick towels. Although small, the lobby was comfortable with overstuffed furniture. We actually visited with a friend for a while in one of the seating areas. We ate once in the bar - the duck quesadillas were light & tasty! There is another restaurant in the hotel; an enclosed patio restaurant. Check-out was easy. We were able to leave our luggage with the bell-hop until we were ready to leave a few hours later. Retrieving our luggage took a while as rather large airline crews were checking in and out at the same time. This is a great boutique hotel for the value in NYC & I would highly recommend it. It has an old-world European charm with modern accommodations. I will stay there again & could see it being my base whenever in New York.

I hardly ever stay in mid town NYC so I had never heard of the Fitzgerald Hotel before. The place I stayed in NYC for the previous four days was a much better value for the money but it was on the upper west side. I wanted to stay near Grand Central the night before I left town so the location was great for that. At first I was concerned as the lobby was very warm as if the air conditioning wasn't working. But the room and especially the bathroom were quite nice, however the room was on the 3rd floor just above the outdoor bar so it was very noisy until around 11:30 or so, which wasn't a huge deal for me. I would only recommend the hotel if you needed to stay near Grand Central but if you do, this is a nice place to stay.
