The Plaza Hotel - Dublin

We stayed for an evening at this hotel. It was very nice. The staff was helpful, and the room was clean. The location, however, was my main problem. It's almost a mile from the nearest bus stop down several dimly lit roads. If you go here, try to arrive in the daytime. It will help you find it easier.

Although the staff were all very helpful and friendly, I felt the the maid service interrupted my sleep a little too often. They came in the room a few times early in the morning and I was still sleeping. I even had the do not disturb sign on the door. Its not so pleasant to be woken up like that on your vacation. Also, I do not think anything could […] be done, but the walls are very tin and I kept hearing the room next door to me "enhancing their relationship" which was a little disturbing while I was trying to sleep. My room cards would not work in my door either. I had to keep going back down to the receptionist to get her to reprogram it. It was a little inconvenient. I also feel that the items in the rooms could be kept up a little better. The bathrooms were lovely however, the furniture all had drink rings on the tables and my phone had wires sticking out of it and it cut my parents off when I was talking to them in the United States. The receptionists were all very friendly and helpful. I had never been to Ireland and they helped me find my way whenever I asked for help. They also tackled any problem I had with my room immediately and were very nice about it. I would definitely stay there again, these were just a few things I would have changed. Read more

Unfortunately, the Plaza hotel was not what I would call a higher ranking hotel. There was no ice machine and in order to get ice, you had to get it from the pub next door. The beds are very low to the floor and we had to ask for wash cloths as the hotel does not supply them in the rooms unless you ask. This hotel was great - my only challenge is that I thought the hotel was much closer to downtown Dublin and I did not have a car. Public transportation (Luas Red Line) took ~ 30 minutes each way and a looooong walk. However, food was great, staff was great, the room was huge, very clean and had very good wi-fi.

We stayed the Easter week end there as we needed access to M50 north and south bound. The hotel was nice enough, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast good. Stayed here for one night, rooms are a bit dated and there is quite a bit of noise from nearby road with traffic throughout the night. Lots of restaurants near by, cinema and shopping aswell as options for transport to the city centre, bus and trains. The noise from the road outside made it difficult to sleep and when I awoke from my sleep in the night I panicked I had slept through my alarm as the lights which light up the building outside made it look like it was daylight, I then struggled to get back to sleep because of the noise. The remote in the room did not work and there were burn marks on […] the bedside table. The main restaurant was closed even though it was valentines night and the hotel was full (I had asked to move rooms to one at the back but as the hotel was full they could not move me). Most Hotels are suffering at the moment in Ireland. Location is practically in the Sqare Shopping mall in Tallaght. Convenient to M50 for airport and south east, also close to Naas Road for heading to south west. Staff were always helpfull even though slightly overworked due to lack of numbers. The only complaint I had was the noise early in the morning after an all night party of some sort. Loud talking in the hallway and yelling outside woke me up at 3:30 am. Other than that, I was fairly happy with my experience. Helpful front desk staff and the pub has fantastic food!

The weather was very cold but I had to sleep with the radiator turned off due to the horrendous noise of hissing, and spurting coming from it. The TV remote control was so old I could not see the icons to operate it. The bedside lamp shades were tatty with holes in them.

This was my 2nd time to stay in the Plaza and again I was v happy overall. It's clean, comfortable and close to the LUAS so getting into town is handy enough. Great value as well even for just 1 person staying like myself. Would certainly recommend to a friend

Oh dear. It was probably a lovely hotel a few years back. sadly, now it's grubby, dowdy and under staffed. My 'non smoking' bedroom stank of cigarette smoke and there was ash on the window sill. I had a very satisfactory stay at the Plaza hotel, especially because of its proximity to Tallaght IT where I was sitting an exam. I had a large comfortable room, received a prompt wake-up call, and the breakfast was very nice to have before setting off for my exam.

This hotel doesn't deserve 4 stars. I'm not even sure if it would qualify for a full 3 star! - Free underground parking (good) but there's rubbish, bins etc everywhere in the underground parking. This was our first impression. - Only one lift, needs at least two - Reception didn't look professional. It was messy and again didn't reflect a 4 star hotel […] by far. - Room was a good size, but furniture was outdated. The windows were set very high so you can barely look outside. - There's a club or bar in the same building and there was loud music until at least 2am, keeping us awake - Room was next to busy road and again, lots of traffic noise coming from there (even with windows closed) - There was a door linking us to the neighbouring room. There was no noise insulation whatsoever. When they got up at 6am it was like they were in the room with us. I could understand every word they were saying. - Bathroom is nice size and very clean. - TV channels were a disaster and the quality of them I'm still in shock that this hotel has a 4 star rating. This is not my first stay at the Plaza Hotel in Tallaght. The hotel offers a good service and a very nice room. The value for money is good as you are not paying Centre city prices but you must allow for the fact that this hotel is very much in West Dublin not centre city. Overall great rooms with everything you could want and free no password wifi! […] The rooms are of a good size and nice and warm on a very cold night. Tallaght is well served with public transport but you are going to find the walk to the LUAS (Tram) a bit of a journey if you have luggage with you! Buses are nearby but you might need advice as to which one to get and where! I used my own car and the free parking is nice for a hotel in Dublin. There are two car parks, overground around the hotel and underground beneath the hotel. Both very handy. If you use the overground one park at the front of the hotel for the free parking. As it was winter and I had an early start I parked underground and the car was nice and warm in the morning! You can enter and exit the undergound carpark 24 hours but the gates to the undergound carpark are closed at 10pm and you need to press the buzzer to enter and exit. The problem is that unless you have stayed before you won't be looking out for the buzzer until you come to the gate by which stage you have passed the buzzer which is located about 20 meters before the gate. But allowing for that, it is nice to have lift access directly from the underground carpark to the lobby / reception. Remember that you have most likely parked on the level -1 not -2 when you are returning to your car. The hotel is located across the road from the local Garda (police) station and the -2 level seems to full of their cars! Didn't try the food / breakfast so I can't comment on that. Probably the best hotel in the area, watch out for special offers! Read more
