The staff was quite friendly and the location is fantastic. But it's pretty old and run down. The only thing that really stood out for me as particularly not great were the bed spreads and blankets. I was a little nervous about those (very old and not very nice). But the bathroom was fine and the lobby and restaurant areas also were too.

Rooms were small and dated but clean. The staff was extremely friendly ad accomadating at all hours of the night and day. The location is very good. Down the street from good restaurants and trains. I would stay again.

Picked this room based on its AA three-star rating. Obviously, AA doesn't care about the ratings, because this was a seriously bad hotel. It's shabby and the rooms smell. Bed - feels like they brought a bunch of used mattresses then cut them in half. Lumpy, uncomfortable, and the bedding is all dead. Not nice at all Shower - weak, as in water stream. […] Also, you have to turn sideways to get wet all the way. Shower amenities consist of a combined shower gel/shampoo that smells rank. Fortunately, there is a Tesco supermarket round the corner for stocking up. Desk - uncomfortable. Free wifi, but it's worthless - drops continually and you can't do much with it. It's better to go down the road to a Costa Coffee or Starbucks - yes, it's that bad. Breakfast - can be included in the room rate, but I'm not sure why you would bother. The fully cooked breakfast is less than 6 pounds, and was reasonable. Garfunkels (around the corner) does a better breakfast for about the same cost. Staff and general impression. The concierge was nice enough and they helped to fix a problem with the booking. There are few hotels I would actively forget in my travels. This is one of them. Avoid like the plague. Read more

This hotel badly needs renovating. Creaking floors, bad beds, bedding from 1900s, an 11" TV static reception. It was just laughable. We needed one last night in London and the hotel we'd been staying in was sold out, so we booked this hotel that was just up the way. They actually wanted a deposit for extras. Haha, what extras?

Stayed here for two nights. The receptionist and hotel staff were okay and answered simple questions. The wifi still doesn't work and they still offer you the neighboring hotel's wifi which can be accessed within a small corner of the reception area. The room was very small and sparsely decorated. No air conditioning. As the other reviews have stated, […] the beds are small and uncomfortable - my feet were hanging over the end of the bed. Bathroom was also very tiny and barely enough room to turn around. This is one of about 20 hotels in this small square. Paddington station is within a 2 minute walk. The Norfok Plaza Hotel was a very nice value and great location (only a couple of blocks to Paddington station). The room itself was a nice size, the bathroom quite spacious (for Europe) and well kept. We had a great view of the square. A desk clerk was available 24 hours per day and the staff was friendly. First off, if you're expecting a U.S. style hotel with lots of amenities, you should move on. However, if you don't plan to spend a lot of time in your room and basically just need a safe, clean place with an excellent location, then you might want to consider this establisment. Yes it is old, has loud creaking floors, small rooms and no air conditioning. […] However, this is our second visit at this hotel, and we found that it has served our needs very well and is relatively very easy on the pocket book, freeing up money for us to spend on other things in England. The sole purpose of staying at this hotel was just to have a place to stay for one night, after arriving in London from NYC late in the evening. We were going to stay at a much nicer and expensive place the following two nights, so we wanted an inexpensive hotel that we could walk to from Paddington Station after coming into to the city using the Heathrow […] Express from Heathrow Airport. As it was advertised, it was two blocks walking distance from the trains at Paddington, very easy to get to. The hotel is located close to a nice neighborhood with restaurants and night life and right in the Norfolk Plaza Park area. There are several other hotels lined up and down the street where this hotel is located. If you are looking for an inexpensive (by London standards) and clean place to stay, this will do. There are NO FRILLS here, NO LUXURY, just a simple place to stay. Beds are not that comfortable, gave the impression of a sheet and blanket over plywood. You get what you pay for, so I was not disappointed, because we saw the disparity of pricing vs. other larger and more expensive hotels. If you are going to be staying here for 2-3 nights and are in London to sight see and explore, and you are not into having a really nice place to stay, this could be the place for you. Overall, it was not a bad experience and we did indeed get what we paid for. If we were in the same situation on our next trip to London, would not hesitate to stay there again. Read more

Room was adequate and clean, bath was clean and lots of hot water. Heat system worked... We stayed 3 days.... No serious issues at all. I think the experience was just as good or better than many European hotels in large cities at a higher price level. Maybe some other reviewers got a bad room, had bad luck, or expected too much! Wi fi did not work […] but staff let me use their computers instead. We previously stayed at another hotel in same neighborhood for more money. Norfolk Plaza was better. Location is great and there is a train to the airport and subway a few blocks away. All staff members i spoke with were extremely accommodating and always volunteered to help or provide advice. I arrived late from Heathrow but the location of the hotel is very close to Paddington Station as I wanted. At first they could not find my reservation but after a couple of minutes did. Elevator is very small and clastraphobic. Room was equally small but not as much as the bathroom which I think at one time was a closet! I spent two nights in the hotel […] and did not have breakfast (extra charge) or use any of the hotels other facilities. Free wi-fi was advertised online for the lobby area. The wi-fi did not work; and myself and several guests complained for several days. They did nothing. Further, I asked to speak to a manager -- and they told me that there was not a manager to speak to over the course of the entire weekend! Then, when I checked out, they had the nerve to say that […] I owed 5.00 for a breakfast. To make matters even more laughable, the minimum visa purchase was 10.00 -- and since I didn't have any cash, they suggested that I just pay 10.00 on my visa to cover my 5.00 breakfast expense!! The hotel entrance and lobby is nice. The room was old and had a sink with signs that it had been broken once and someone glued it together again. It was clean, though I could not sleep as I could hear the steps of other guests whenever they walk on the wooden floor. The exterior and location are the positives. I was only staying one night but would have been very disappointed had I booked for longer. I was guided along a shabby narrow corridor into a tired looking room. The television was ancient and not as advertised. The hotel was vaery dated, and we had problems with noise generated in the room above us. The walls / ceilings must have been paper thin, as you could here everything, and in some cases sounded like they was going to come through the ceiling. Hotel is very old and out-dated. Needs serious renovation. Walls are very thin....you can hear your neighbors talking and laughing. If there are guests above you, you can hear them walking around. One of the worst hotels I've stayed in. Very poor hotel standard the room was so cold so I had to sleep with clothes on and in the morning they forgot to wake us up even though we had ordered a wake up call. Would not say it's a 3 star hotel more like a 1-star / bed and breakfast which was quite poor for the cost.

This hotel is a reasonable standard and is good value if you pay around one third of the rack rate. It is a total rip-off if you are unfortunate enough to pay the full rack rate. Helpful staff. Heating does not seem to be on in the morning!
