Chesterfield Hotel & Suites - Miami Beach

I booked a last minute trip to Miami Beach without knowing the area, so I was a bit unsure of what I was booking or why certain hotels had availability. I decided upon the Chesterfield mainly due to its general proximity, reasonable rate and the included airport shuttle. It was really a nice surprise when I arrived! I initially searched for an ocean front hotel, but was really happy that I ended up at the Chesterfield on Collins - a few steps from the sand without the late-night music thumping and sports cars reving until the early morning on Ocean. Great palm-filled corridors to a clean and stylish room. Ilona and Pedro at the front desk put me in a great room to begin my enjoyable stay. Be sure to find Star in the sushi lounge for fantastic service with a smile and Kristin for great chat and the best mojitos you've ever had. I had a really hard time choosing between hotels in SOBE. Sometimes it's a hit or miss, but this one is definitely a hit. We got a great deal & that made our stay even better. It was romantic, yet eclectic. Pedro was fantabulous & we received an unanticipated upgrade. It's definitely Art Deco & so retro, loved it!!

Not at all impressed. 1. Phone in my room was broken. Front desk staff told me there was nothing they could do. Complained to manager who moved me to different room. 2. Was sold $5 coffee before finding out the same coffee was free if you went to the bar and asked for complimentary coffee. Upon asking for this free coffee I was told the coffee machine […] was broken. 3. Junior suite is barely the size of a room at a typical hotel. Not sure what the Standard rooms look like or if my room was just a Standard. 4. Was charged for a bottle of water from my fridge yet I never comsumed it. I paid the $3 rather than complaining as I was tired of dealing with them. 5. One morning water started rushing from my ceiling. I called the front desk, they said someone would come take a look, but obviously no one ever came. 6. One of the days no room service came to my room. I had to call the front desk and later that evening someone came to give me fresh towels and make my bed. 7. King bed as advertised was actually a queen bed. The bed was sunken on one side. 8. People in the hotel were smoking marijuana and my room stunk of weed all week. 9. Satellite TV service advertised was just plain analog cable. Free movie channels as advertised were not in the package. 10. No ironing board in my room. I just used the mini bar fridge as a platform. 11. Wifi was spotty and slow. Our stay (12/28/2012 - 12/29/2012) was good and memorable until we came to know on 02/04/2013 that the Wallet parking we did in this hotel received the Violation Ticket on 12/29 but they didn't informed us. Finally received the Violation Ticket - 74109918 for $57 on home mail and surprised since we didn't took the car anywhere. The Hotel was not cooperating […] at all in resolving the issue. The Front Desk number keeps on ringing every time and Managers phone always goes on voice mail. No response of the voice mail either. Also write the mail to senior staff of the hotel but no response. The check in process was very smooth Alex and Pedro were the 2 front desk agents when I arrived and they were a delight. I was upgraded to the Junior sweet and they both made me feel very welcome. The location is great if you want to be close to everything and is walking distance of everything. During my last night I experienced a few issues. The room next to me were playing there music to the point of my entire room shaking. It did take a few calls to front desk for someone to pick up so I could let them know. I was told that the room will be informed they have to turn the music down however they still refused to do this. Then at 2.30am I was woken by the room next door arguing and what sounded like fighting and screaming. This went on until 4.30am then the police were called! During this situation I did feel very unsafe. Overall, the staff were polite and friendly however I do not feel that they managed with some of the issues in a professional manner. I do take into consideration that you cannot always predict guests behavior but as a team they should manage the situation effectively. Read more

Came down with 2 friends to escape the cold for a few days and stayed here. Great service, super clean hotel and room. Not one problem. Loved the roof deck for the days when the beach was too windy, which was only a few blocks away. Perfect location walking distance to Lincoln road and espanola way.

Love the Chesterfield! There are three buildings. Each with a different vibe. This trip I finally stayed in the middle building. Got a Jr. Suite at the back. The bamboo trees on the way to the room are so pretty. The room is the quietest room I've ever had in South Beach. Just outside the sushi bar is a wonderful garden area with several places to sit and hang-out. The restaurant in the main building is great for people watching because it is right on the street. Located between 8th and 9th The Chesterfield is walking distance to anywhere in South Beach. The absolute best thing about the Chesterfield is the people! I've stayed there several times. We were offered an upgrade, but took a room in the back which was quieter. It's on the main street, 1 back from the beach (Ocean Drive) and near all the action. The rooms are very funky, chic and unique. I'd go back for sure. You do have to park about 2 blocks away for $20-$25 for 10-24 hours or pay $32 (+ tip) for valet parking, although you can come […] and go as you like. There's a lot of traffic, but you're basically within walking distance from most things if you like to walk. Also there's a $100 credit card charge in case you eat or drink something from the room or take off with one of the robes. Make sure you have somebody check the room for you before you leave. I recently stayed at this hotel for my birthday weekend. The hotel was so-so. The greatest perk of the hotel is that it is right on Collins which is between Washington Avenue and Ocean Drive so everything is within walking distance. We got a really good rate on Hotels.com so you are in a good area but aren't paying the high price of a hotel to stay […] right on Ocean Drive. The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport but we still rented a car so that we can go to the Port of Miami to also get some sight seeing done. The staff was very nice and helpful. When someone from the staff walked me up to my room with my bag and he opened the door I was very impressed with the room decor and setup. But the rooms are a little small so if there is group of 4 I suggest finding another hotel to stay in. The beds are only full size. There isn't a microwave, coffee maker, drawers to put clothes in and very little walking room. The shower is nice but there isn't a ventilation system so if you room with people who don't care if you shower with the door open or cracked you won't be able to breathe with the door closed. The bar is nice free drinks from 7-8. I would suggest staying here if there's only two people staying in the room and if you're only in town for a long weekend. Read more
