It was a nice hotel in an excellent location for me. The only issue was the heating/cooling. It is an older hotel. So, because of the single boiler situation, the rooms are either too hot or too cold. The hotel elects to keep it on the cool side and will bring a space heater to the room. But you have to request it and that was an uncomfortable situation […] in the middle of the first night. However, once that was resolved, my stay was fine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It was nice"
Stay there for a day it was clam, nice, quiet. It's on the North side. The room was super clean. They have a maps of places to eat at the front desk. Take it! help you save money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I've stayed here many times and always enjoy my stay. Hotel is doing some renovations which seem to be talking away from some of the old charm of this hotel. New furniture in room does not look like quality furniture just boards painted and assembled. Sorry to see the change in décor but will continue to use this hotel. Staff are always welcoming and […] it is in quiet neighborhood close to when I need to be. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ruining a good thing"
I've stayed at the majestic a lot, and I had lived by it for many years. Specifically during my last two stays, I was disappointed due to the fact that their boilers are on during the day, making the rooms very warm (actually, the radiator in the bathroom is so hot it needs to be covered with a towel while you're in there) however, once the sun goes […] down, they turn the boiler off leaving some rooms extremely cold. To make this worse, they never cover the window A/C units in the winter, allowing cold winter air to come rushing into the room. Apparently they are not able to control individual radiators, so it's all or nothing. On an overall note, they are currently "updating" the decor of the hotel. In my opinion they are taking a very quaint & warm feeling hotel into a stark, hard, sterile environment. In my opinion they are unnecessarily down grading the feel of the hotel and making it much LESS comfortable. I don't know whos decision it was to do it this way, but I think whoever it was needs to have their heads examined. As I stated I've stayed their a lot and the location is perfect for what I need a hotel for. However, due to the above stated reasons, I will be seeking an alternative next time I need a hotel on the north side of Chicago. Thanks for ruining a great hotel!!! "Very nice, Quaint, hotel."
Very good location. Snacks and wine already in our room when we arrived. Fully stocked mini fridge at very reasonable prices for everything. Comfortable beds. Everything I could ask for in a nice little hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfort and convenience in Lakeview area"
I lived in Chicago off and on for several years, and never knew about this hotel. Now that I've stayed there, I will definitely be back. Much more economical than staying downtown, but in a great location close to the Magnificent Mile, easily accessible by bus or taxi. Very well situated if you're headed to a Cubs game, too. Common area is lovely and […] comfortable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hidden gem for peace and quiet"
I travel for business so I usually stay in the downtown Chicago core but, every now and then, need someplace close but out of the way to balance out the busy day. The Majestic Hotel is ideal for that. It's far enough away but located in a great neighborhood so I can feel like I'm part of a community while still meeting my business needs. They're starting […] a renovation now but the Old World charm isn't being removed...just enhanced. You can't beat the attitude and care of the staff, especially Mona and Tayvion (sp?). In summer, it's a great place that's not far from Wrigley so it can double as a haven near the sports. Being 1/2 block off Lakeshore helps and the nearby Belmont Harbor and park locates it well for runners, dog lovers, and more. It's hard to go wrong with such a winning combination! "Old world charm away from the crowds"
A small commute to the downtown attractions but worth the sacrifice if you prefer a quieter and more homey feel. Room was quite small but clean and comfortable. Hotel personnel very friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was very knowledgeable and fast to help...we called several times for additional items in the room and they had them to our room very quickly. We will diffinity stay there again and will recommend it to our friends. It was a very enjoyable stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quaint and Cozy--Still a little old. :)"
The location is cold in the winter-close to the lake. The room was nice size, but the heat is radiator and wall heater heat. You had to get the controls just right to get the heat to come on. An old building, every footstep above you was heard as if it were in the room with you. Definitly would want the top floor. The cabinet in the room where your […] clothes would be stored was moved during the day while I was gone with no notice as to why. So, all of my belongs were moved with no notification. There were holes in the walls where sconces or pictures hung, both in the room and in the common area. Just a little too much not quite right for the price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great little hotel"
Spent 9 days here Thanksgiving week. Helpful staff, great beds and showers. Some of the furniture is old and uncomfortable but that's just secondary. Great location close to cabs and buses on Lakeshore and North Bway, 10 mins away from the EL. Like the common room in the lobby with fireplace and free coffee etc in the morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent small hotel"
The Majestic was a lovely boutique hotel with comfortable rooms and a very nice breakfast. I would definitely recommend it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Classic old hotel."
Located in a leafy and lively neighborhood one block off North Lakeshore drive. Nice lounge with fireplace. Good choices for breakfast. (no hot food, but fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs etc). The rooms are smallish but clean. One exceptional thing was the alert, informed and friendly desk staff. Always helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"City location, old fashioned comfort."

"old world charm with all modern amenities"
Lovely, charming hotel with wonderful staff and good continental breatfast, but room was small and the lamps were lacking light bulbs until I called and requested them. I missed having a coffee pot in the roomGenuine Expedia guest review
The majestic is a hidden place on a side street near the lake. The building is old, but very clean. The staff is friendly & helpful. I was pleasantly surprised by this place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Was in Chicago for a concert. We will use the Majestic again!Genuine Expedia guest review
We stayed here because a family member was performing in a theatre nearby. It was nice to have the sitting room where we could meet prior to dinner and have a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Rooms were small but comfortable and very quiet, which was nice. Would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Great atmosphere. Clean. Beds cozy and very comfortable. Located in a quaint residential neighborhood. Within walking distance of Wrigley Field, many restaurants, & the Metro (music venue). Safe. Looking forward to our return.Genuine Expedia guest review

This property is an excellent value in a terrific location. A lovely, leafy neighborhood location half a block from the lakefront make this a really good value. The property needs a cosmetic upgrade, which I heard from the staff is in the works. But, I'm more than glad I booked it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Boutique Hotel"
Great boutique hotel located just off Lake Shore Drive in a great neighborhood. Smaller and very friendly staff. The room was a little small but had great and comfortable bed with Internet and a good desk and chair. Many local restaurants within walking distance. They give you a map and description of all of the local restaurants.Genuine Expedia guest review
"'Shabby Chic' is an appropos description . . ."
. . . as mentioned in their literature. This hotel is geographically OK, close to a restaurants etc. and quaint in a number of respects - a former dormitory for a women's college. Parking was something of a hassle - drive around the block and park, then walk back through another building, around ot the hotel. All for a paltry $22 per day. The room […] was very small. "5th time staying here!"
Close to Wrigley Field. Nice neighborhood! Old building! Excellent staff!Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was nice and the staff was very friendly. The room was small, but nice. Great location for walking to a ball game at Wrigley Field. Only complaint was the parking -- it's a little difficult, but once we figured out where to go, it ended up being fine. We will definitely stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Majestic Is a Great Hotel"
Enjoyed stay immenselyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room is small, but cheap mini bar is a plus!!! The hotel was within walking distance to Wrigely Field. The front desk personnel was helpful to local restaurants. There is on-site parking for $22 a night or parking on lakeshore drive if you want to move your car M-F at 7 am. Might stay here again, but had a great experience!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Have visited Chicago many times and stayed in many hotels. This was the first time for the Majestic Hotel. Loved the location on a beautiful tree lined residential street. Convenient for the Steppenwolf Theatre. Close to Lake Michigan. Felt like a European boutique hotel. Small hallways, and we had a small queen bed room. However the amenities were […] good, and the bathroom was roomy. My husband much preferred this hotel to hotels on or near Michigan Ave. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Very nice hotel within walking distance to Wrigley Field and many good places to eat. Very friendly and helpful staff. Parking is away from the hotel but no problem as we did not drive during our visit and even if you do drive it is a walk of a few blocks. I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting North Chicago.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Like living in Chicago"
I have lived in Chicago in the past and I have stayed at hotels just for visiting. The night I stayed at The Majestic felt like when I had previously lived in Chicago. During the day, I was able to spend time in the downtown Chicago area but as it got later it was nice to experience the atmosphere and uniqueness of the smaller community for which The […] Majestic resides. My girlfriend and I went and got food at a near-by restaurant then took a very long walk by lake Michigan. The area was clean and the residents were very friendly. Nearly everyone smiled at us and we felt extremely safe. A few of the things we observed on our walk were, dogs playing in a park, people chatting by the lake, kids playing baseball, an outdoor yoga class, a "bird and butterfly habitat" and joggers and bikers on a path. It seemed like a very open and friendly community. I didn't even spend that much time in the hotel to be honest, just way too much to do and see. There is so much more to Chicago then the downtown area and the location of The Majestic allows the traveler an opportunity to experience the rich and unique culture of Chicago. I am from Detroit and live in the metro Detroit area, you often have to drive several miles and all over the area to get the culture and experience you get in one neighborhood in Chicago. "Wrigley Field and Downtown Sightseeing"
We loved the hotel and e staff. We came to town to see Chicago and go to a Cubs game. This hotel is ideally located so you can walk to and from the game. No waiting for a bus or the train. The rooms are not small. We had 4 people in each room, and had plenty of room. Staff was super helpful and e beds were the best! Loved it and we will be back.Genuine Expedia guest review
Wonderful location, walked to Wrigley and restaurants. Easy cab ride from Union Station. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfy! Definitely plan to stay here again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"warm, frowsy, comfy hotel"
It is very hard to forgive the hotel for not making the Chicago Blackhawks' Stanley Cup playoff game available on TV while we were there - regardless of their explanations, apologies and their particular hotel TV service. Also, they charge extra for TV internet service,m which is not advertised.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Chicago get away."
The location and quietness of the hotel was perfect for my wife and I. The staff was both friendly and helpful. The hotel was close enough for us to walk to most places we wanted to visit. The nights we had to catch a cab to a venue/event were more than affordable since we weren't more than a couple of miles from downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review

I would highly recommend the Majestic. As other reviewers have commented, the rooms are small. However, the beautiful interior and excellent customer service more than makes up for it. I will definitely stay here next time I am in Chicago.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Close to Wrigley, and bars. Very helpful staff. Quiet street. Rooms are a bit on the small side but very nicely furinshed. Parking around the corner in a upscale buildings garage. Great place at a reasonable price. Didn't feel like walking back from the Cubbie Bear so got a cab, fare was only $6 for 3 people. Yeah its that close Good timeGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great little place tucked away in Lakeview!"
Perfect location if you're in town for a Cubs game and want to emerse yourself in a great Chicago neighborhood. The in-room honor bar was cheap (12 oz beers for $2) and the room was small but comfortable. Bed was so-so in terms of comfort and and the floors above were really squeeky. Staff was friendly and helpful. Easy and short walks (less than a […] mile) to good food (highly recommend Ann Sathers for breakfast - get the cinnamon rolls!) and fun bars (loved Murphy's Bleachers and Sports Corner for gameday drinks with other sports fans). Only downside is that we couldn't find a way to cross the big road and get to the lake. One of my favorite things about Chicago is walking along the lake and we couldn't do that easily from this location. Will stay here again when we go to town for a Cubs game. "Cute neighborhood and nice hotel"
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The elevator was being worked on so they carried my bag upstairs for me. The boutique hotel has a local feel to it and I slept well on the bed.
