"THIS ISN'T AN ALL INCLUSIVE HOTEL"
I would of given this hotel 5 stars across the board if it wasnt for the fact that we called the hotel before booking our trip to confirm that the hotel was all inclusive and were lied to---we didn't find out that it is NOT an all inclusive resort until we arrived and began to check in. After some words were exchanged the staff did try and accommodate […] us.-- All of the above aside, it is a beautifully relaxing resort and I would recommend it to any one not looking for an all inclusive vacation. "PR in 6 days"
Hotel facility is nice. Food is over price. We received 2 free drinks tickets at arrival , we decided to use them in the morning. When we got to the restaurant to use the tickets they never offer us a seat. We stand and waited while some of the staff share pictures or something on a cell phone. Unable to use the beach. 6 Out of our 6 day stay we have […] to drive away from the hotel to go to the beach every day. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Had a great time and the weather was great. Definately would recommend resort to others.Genuine Expedia guest review
We had a great time at the Copamarina Resort. The only negative aspects were that the air conditioning unit was loud, hotel is isolated from other things, and the beach is not necessarily swimmable. They also didn't accept all Credit Card types at the resort, which is a major negative. However, if your plans are to get away from everything and enjoy […] the resort throughout your stay, it is quite outstanding. Resort grounds were well-maintained with facilities, pools, restaurants, etc. The beach was a nice place to relax, although we wish we could swim from the shore - as the sea floor has grasses and rocks, which is not very swimmable. If the shore could be somehow cleaned up from seaweeds, this location would be absolutely perfect. Renting a kayak or a paddle boat was nice right from the resort property to take to Gilligan's islands and swim there or swim right from the paddle boat farther from the shore. Overall, very pleased with the hotel room and property itself. As for the beaches, we had a car rental and visited some of the best beaches in the area. Cabo Rojo beaches (e.g.: Playuela, Playa Sucia) were some of the closest better beaches available (besides Flamenco beach in Culebra, which was the best). If you have a car and want a great resort experience, this spot is for you - just plant to travel some. The beach is nice to relax, but swimming may require some travel to actual swim beaches. "Puerto Rican Paradise"
Although the hotel is a bit off the main road, it provides a feeling of being in a true paradise. We were treated very well by most staff. A lovely beach area is the reason that you come to the Caribbean and you get it here. We were disappointed that the main restaurant was not opened during our 3 day visit, but the staff gave us some of the menu items […] from the menu.We will definitely go back. "Quite and beautiful, nIce but dated"
This resort is peaceful and a great place to relax. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The rooms are a little dated, but they are very clean. We enjoyed our stay here. The wait staff at the open air restaurant seemed very distracted at times, but they really enjoy each other's company. This causes the service to suffer at times. We had a horrible […] experience with service one night during our stay, but they gave us complimentary breakfast the next day. If you are looking for a very quiet place to get away from it all, this is a good choice. If you go to Gilligan's Island, you can take their ferry and they make an awesome boxed lunch. I would recommend that you share the lunch with someone. The portions are huge! They will also deliver beers to the island. Very nice! If you want to take kayaks to Gilligan's Island, get them from another place close by. It is much cheaper. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Relaxing resort with lovely grounds"
Very pretty setting, lovely plantings and beach. The water is beautiful and clear but not really swim able because it's only about 5" deep. The pools are nice and there is plenty of seating. There are only 2 restaurants to eat - one is open on Friday and Saturday and the food and service was excellent. The other restaurant had decent food and lackadaisical […] service. The breakfast buffet was very expensive for the food they served. During the week it was very peaceful and quiet. On the weekend there were a lot of children and families, so plan your trip according to what you prefer. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location but hotel should be modernized."
Rooms, especially bathrooms have the look of a cheap motel or a hotel from the 80's. Staff is great and the location is excellent! I stay here at lest 3 times a year...just for the location. "Excellent location, service could be better"
If you are looking for a hotel that is right on the beach with all of the beach amenities, and none of the crowds, the Copamarina is for you. Our room walked right onto the garden, with an ocean view and direct access to the beach from the back door. It was incredibly convenient because we never had to walk all the way around the hotel to get to the […] front door of our room when we were going to/from the beach. Lots of chairs, cabanas, paddle boarding, a ferry to Gilligan's island, and absolutely stunning ocean views. And the stars! And sunset! Amazing. The negatives were that service in the restaurant pretty much sucked. The food was decent, but the wait staff took forever to do anything. Even when there were only a few tables of diners, they took FOREVER to bring the drinks and the check - every time. It was so slow. And when it's the only place to eat or drink within miles, you end up eating every meal on the resort. The room was a good size, but the mattress and pillows weren't very comfortable and needed to be replaced. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Awesome place to relax. Staff should market available tours, facility better. It was difficult to map out what was available at the resort and the surrounding area. Could not get a straight answer. Gilligan's Island was a bust. Not really for us. Maybe for families with kids. Bring lots of mosquito repellent! Other than that, it was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Absolutely the right choice for us!"
We wanted to be away from the big city of San Juan but since we have never gone to Puerto Rico we weren't sure if going to the Southern Coast was going to be the right choice. From the first moments we arrived, we knew that The Copamarina Resort was the right choice for us. Copamarina is set in beautiful location and easy find after a couple hours drive […] from the San Juan Airport. But it's people make a place and the staff here at Copamarina are just great!!! Food service staff is outgoing and cheerful, housekeeping are hardworking and efficient. When we went back into our room, everything was in the right place, clean and neat. A note about the room; the walls are not acoustically dampened so expect to hear your neighbors. The killer bathroom is very large, very clean, very modern shower. Our balcony, facing the water was comfortable and the view was great. We Kayaked over to Gillian's Island, slept in comfortable beach chairs, walked over to the public beach and had a great time. We saw people our age (young60's), couples who were older, young Families with children and young 20 somethings. No live music scene at the bar, thank goodness but a very positive vibe by everyone there. People really seemed to be enjoying their life of being served and cottled! We hope to make Copamarina a place we will return to frequently. Thank you to all the staff, you made our stay WONDERFUL Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
What a beautiful and remote location! Quiet and perfect for a more subdued private getaway. Never felt overcrowded. Pools were wonderful, beach was wonderful, Guilligan's Island and snorkeling were lots of fun. Grounds were immaculate, and proximity to lighthouses, dry forest, surfer beaches and more made day adventures easy. Yes, it is dated decor, […] but still comfortable. In true PR style, service is slow and no one ever solicited food or drink sales at the pools or beach (a tremendous loss of potential revenue!). Real difficulty comes in finding food. They need kitchenettes so guests can be assured a meal! Room had tiny fridge, which we tried our best to fill with items from local grocery. Sure, they'd have liked us to eat at the restaurant every day for all 3 meals, but menu options were limited, overpriced, and only 1 of the restaurants on the property was regularly open. So if we didn't care for that food, where would we go? VERY hard to find restaurants open other than the random (& frankly, scary) food truck. Drove 20 minutes to nearby towns but found only fast food or...closed restaurants. Would have been nice to have a microwave for reheating extras from a restaurant or prepare snacks like popcorn. By end of trip, finding decent food became mission #1. Never found anything great. By the way, Puerto Ricans apparently don't eat vegetables (rare!) unless they are deep fried, and table salt is very hard to come by. Chips & guac...nonexistent. Fun, but starved! "Lovely, relaxing resort."
A quiet beach front resort with gorgeous grounds. Lots of shade available on the beach...we never had trouble finding open lounge chairs. The ocean is very quiet and shallow directly in front of the hotel. A "swimming beach" (deeper/ with more surf) with lifeguards is about 100 yards walk. The staff was attentive and helpful without hovering. The restaurants […] were a bit pricey but the food was great. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent Secluded Vacation"
Fantastic overall, but I must mention that with the exception of an employee at the Reception desk who was somewhat rough when approaching the guests; but of course I assured she realized that I was paying three months of her salary with my stay. The rest of the staff were extremely respectful and their service skills equates to a 5-star resort. The […] wonderful view to the sea, semi-private beach, water sports, hiking, boat trips are just few things you can enjoy at there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect little vacation"
I would definitely return. There are apparently direct flights into Ponce now, but we flew into SJ and had a lovely 2-hour drive across the island. Absolutely affordable rates (you can find cheaper on expedia but remember there's a 20% resort fee) and low-profile, low-footprint luxury. Beautiful grounds, and the beach right in front is very shallow […] so good for kids and the swimmable deeper beach is just 100 yards down the way. The restaurants and drinks are not cheap ($20 entrees and $7 cocktails), but hey, it's paradise. There's a very relaxed, friendly feeling among the guests. None of the rooms is really "ocean front" -- they can face the ocean but there are about 80 yards of grounds (lovely grounds) between the beach and the room. That's just if you're looking for the step-out-of-your-room-to-the-sand effect. One major recommendation I have for them is to send waiters around to the beach; they would do a lot more in revenue if someone was always asking if we wanted a drink refill! "Laid Back Puerto Rico"
I was a week away from finishing a very intense job and my wife told me we had to take a decompressing vacation when I finished. I typed into Google "Quiet, Laid Back, Puerto Rico". "A real find!!!"
Away from the crowds of San Juan and the northeast coast, Copacamarina is an oasis of calm beauty. There is everything and nothing to do depending upon your preference. The staff are unendingly lovely, helpful and kind. The protected bay is minutes from plenty of wind for sailing. The sand is soft and the beach is shallow and long. We loved all of it […] and would go right back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"well- appointed on magnificent property."
This hotel is located in a magnificent spot at the edge of the "dry forest" property right at the sea . There is a sandy beach area with lots of available chairs, hammocks, etc. Unfortunately when we were there the water was not clean enough for swimming. However for a small fee the hotel boat will take one out to Gillian's Island which is even more […] beautiful! The rooms are somewhat small but very well maintained- each having a mini-frig. and upon request a microwave. A balcony faces the sea and the well-maintained lawns and beach area. It is located better than 3 miles from the main road and so food is available only at their restaurant which in our opinion (based only on one dinner) is just O.K. and quite pricey. The staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. There are many hiking trails near-by if one is so inclined! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"It could be Better, for the price!"
Everything was acceptable. Since I have been in Copa Marina various years ago, it seems that is a little bit unattended. Some of the employees were not clear in comunication and in Las Palmas Cafe, one of the attendants was with a dirty apron and was not paying attention at all.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very pleasant resort, staff courteous and very helpful. Facilities were very good, the beach was clean but the sea was disappointing, algae and other vegetation makes swimming unpleasant. Restaurant was good, particularly the menu from the Alexandria Restaurant which, unfortunately, is not available on weekdays during the winter season.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Overpriced ocean view not worth it"
Disappointed with so many things. Had stayed at this resort 7 years ago and was much better then. The room had a fridge which was nice but the toilet wasn't working right/ it smelled like urine. Very damp as there was no fan in the bathroom. Or in the sleeping area. The AC was noisy. The armoire by the bathroom smelled of mold. The restaurants were […] nice but very little in the way of true Puertorrican foods. The bouganvilla vines with large thorns by the walking paths are the most idiotic thing - we bumped into them and got scratched up. The beach was messed up with silt. The African Grey parrot by the lobby was a very sad thing to see. Improper diet, under a fan, no sun, no toys. This is a living animal!!! Not a decoration. The worse was the New Years party for which they wanted $75 per person with no other options at the hotel. We ended up eating fast food that night. Checking in felt like I was an inconvenience to the lady. Maybe they cut down on staff- not good. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful and relaxing!"
I have nothing to say about the resort nor the staff. Right from the beginning everyone was helpful. My husband and I went to Puerto Rico for the first time and can say by the time we left we were very relaxed. The food that we ate at the resort was excellent and the New Year's celebration was fun. The place is very beautiful, has many landscapes, can reach another little island with a beautiful beach, the staff are very friendly. "Best beach resort in Puerto Rico!"
I have stayed at Copamarina Beach Resort three times and have some of the best memories. I love the calm serene beach, large rooms, beautiful garden and the friendly staff that are always available to help. The Cafe at the resort that is reasonably priced serves delicious food while the restaurant (Alexandra) is a little over-rated. As with any tropical […] destination, it was a good idea for us to take bug/mosquito repellant. During the last recent visit, the beach had some seasonal seaweed deposit. "Great resort, beautiful grounds, but pricey."
Coming from Michigan, spending the holidays in Puerto Rico provided some relief from the harshness of Winter. Copa Marina in Guanica offered all the amenities and conditions for just such a reprieve. The grounds were extremely well-maintained, with palm trees dotting the gardens, swimming pools (four) providing welcome cooling opportunities, and the […] ocean offering an idyllic alternative to taking a dip in the pool. Staff, especially ground-keepers, worked to keep the domain in perfect order, raking leaves, cleaning the pools, arranging garden furniture. Check-in was easy and are room was ready upon arrival. Guanica offers very little in terms of cultural activities. San German and Ponce are two larger towns that are worth a visit, but both of these can be done in a single day. Guanica itself lacks any descent eating establishments, except the local "panaderia" on the main street, where our family had breakfast for the last few days (instead of the expensive--but good--breakfast at the hotel). One other trip worth making is to Parguera, for both the phosphorescent Bay excursion and dining opportunities. THE MAIN DOWN-SIDE for us was the noise after 9 PM. Many of the rooms are connected by a door to the room next to it. When you've booked only one room, however, the door becomes an inconvenience because you can hear everything from the room next-door. Traveling with a toddler, this made getting him to sleep was an adventure. This should be remedied somehow! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
