We had 2 nights with our teens (12-14). The room (superior room : queen bed and convertible) was too small, we had to move a chair to reach the window and bed was awful : we had backpain. The hotel was fine for a business trip. They let me check in early when I arrived off my red-eye from Heathrow so I could freshen up before my meetings that day. However that may not be a standard policy, since when I first went up to the front desk, the hostess's reaction was "well, it's definitely too early to check in..." but then when she looked […] up my room, and it was ready, she seemed somewhat surprised but let me in to my room. I thought it was a bit strange that her first reaction was "no" without even checking, instead of starting from a place of trying to help me get what I needed, then enforcing a rule (e.g., no early check-in), if she had to. The hotel itself is very nice with an open lobby that offers free internet. The wifi in the room is not free, but the lobby has lots of comfortable seating, so it is not too problematic to step down to the lobby to check emails and work for a bit if you don't want to pay a few pounds for wireless in your room. The room was clean and had all the amenities, but the bed was a little firm and uncomfortable. I am generally not overly picky about hotel beds, but it was on the poorer end of the spectrum. We stayed at the Novotel West London for 8 days during a visit that included a 3 day conference at the hotel. We found the hotel to be quite comfortable and responsive to our needs. By the end of 8 days the hotel felt about as close to home as a large hotel could feel. One caveat. Overall we were quite satisfied with the Novotel.

At first sight, Hammersmith seems to be the wrong place to be for central London. But it isn't. The Tube and Bus station are 2 minutes away, and in 4-6 stops, you are in the centre of London. We used this hotel as a base to explore the museums in London. We used to live 1 mile away from the hotel and so knew the area very well in advance. My husband and I had a great one night stay after a concert at the Apollo. We asked for and got a quiet twin room which looked recently decorated. Beds were bigger than single beds as described although with the heating on full we were still a bit cold. The hotel has a good range of local amenities- shops, restaurants, etc, for those who want to get out of a hotel at night. The restaurant is a bit pricey and a bit pretentious, to be honest. But they serve a decent breakfast. The staff are always very polite and keen to help.

The hotel was ok but needed a bit of maintenance in my room which considering it was an executive room wasn't that great, I got an electric shock off the plug next to the bed which didn't work, the telephone receiver button you had to manually pull up to answer the phone, water in the sink didn't go down unless you pulled the whole plug out and the […] bathroom door didn't close properly. Also the restraint had problems understanding English, it took me quite a while repeating my drinks order of a pineapple and an apple juice (repeated it about 10 times), but they still got it wrong. Since I prepaid for the room, I was offered a free upgrade to Executive Suite! The Hotel and rooms are extremely clean and neat. The hotel is right outside Hammersmith Tube Station. A 2 minute walk! Will definitely book this hotel again!
