It was cheap and that is reflected. The hotel is poorly maintained and staff does not care but location is fairly good. The hotel is just at the bottom edge of the 7-mile beach but in walking distance to the nicer parts of the beach and just on the top end of Georgetown where you can shop and enjoy great cuisine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Facility is part long term rental part time share and part daily rental. Garbage recepticals on every floor overflowing for days. Trash in the elevator. Sparse decor. Sesspool next to lobby bar due to non-functioning waterfall. Staff incompetent. No facility to print boarding passes. Open air lobby floor filled with cigarette butts. "Nice property, lousy service"
Property: Nice access to a private beach and the lobby is nice. Front desk: When we arrived, it was earlier than the 3 pm check-in, and in the past, hotels have accomodated that, but the woman just basically told us to find something to do for 4 hours and not come back until 3. That's awesome when you're arriving from the NE in your winter gear and […] walking around in 90 degree weather. I could understand it were packed, but (fortunately for us in the end) it was dead. Also, they were useless when asked questions such as "do you know where I can get a first aid kit?" (we discovered a pharmacy 40 steps away..they told us they had "no idea") Housekeeping: Rudest staff ever. They knocked on the door before 10 am and when we asked if they could come back since we were just getting ready, they (different ladies, separate occassions) paused, huffed, rolled their eyes and then demanded "when?". In one case, the woman never returned at all. The room: Worst shower ever. No hot water or water pressure. The drain stop kept getting stuck, and maintenance would fix it, then housekeeping would put it back, and so began they cycle of calling. "Maintenance" came and simply removed the drain stopper and left it on our sink. Wow. On the plus, you did have access to a nice private beach and since that's the appeal, that was clutch. In the end, move on to somewhere else for hotel satisfaction. Book it for property satisfaction. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Save some money and stay in a nice hotel."
I chose to go to Grand Cayman primarily for Diving. I found that Divers Down was located right there at my hotel and they picked me up for every dive on time. Initially, I reviewed everyone elses review of this hotel and I did not really experience any issues to speak of. I loved the outdoor main lobby. Was very relaxing with a cabana bar and wifi. […] The walk to the beach is about 2 minutes through the nice condos that are directly on the beach at Sunset Cove. Here are the good things about this hotel. They are working to keep everything nice. New paint, light maintenance, everything was clean, they swept the driveway every morning. Beds were comfortable and our ocean view was a view over the palm trees and yes you could see the ocean. Not an ocean front mind you, but still a nice view. The cost was great compared to other hotels in the area. We did laundry there in their laundrymat which mostly had out of order machines, but we found an available one with no problem. Locals also live in this hotel and I had no issues with them nor they I. It was a good morning or Good afternoon to everyone I encountered. Bad things: We were scheduled for checkin and was asked to wait for our room. We took this time to just rest and relax after a long flight in their lobby. No worries or problems from this couple on that minor issue. They have a little grocery store in the hotel lobby or you can just go to the nearby grocery store and stock up on things. Kitchenette was NEW! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is not a 5 star hotel but it will suffice if you just need a clean and safe place to stay. The staff are friendly and try there best to satisfy. My reason for a overall rating of 3: The towels are of cheap quality and sometimes a complete set were not replaced after cleaning the room. There is grim in the corners of the walls, under cabinets. There […] needs to be some thorough cleaning. The hotel was quiet and I felt safe. For the price, I could live with not so soft towels. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Treasure Island is an older hotel, but it is a very good choice for the money. The reception staff was friendly and efficient--they even called one evening to tell me that I had failed to turn off the lights on our rental car. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the daily maid service was excellent. The kitchen was convenient to cook […] some of our own meals. Our room had a great view overlooking one of the pools. The three pools are beautiful and very clean. The swim-up bar was fun, the outdoor pool restaurant food was good, and the sports bar restaurant was fun. The sandy beach is clean and protected by a rock jetty, making it very easy to enter the water for snorkeling out to the reef. The hotel location is within walking distance of a good variety of restaurants, shopping and nightlife entertainment. I have stayed at Treasure Island four times, and will definitely stay there again. The Cayman people are all so friendly and helpful to visitors. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Poor hotel choice"
No hot water even after I complained. Telephone never worked and even after I complained was never fixed. Room had only 3 outlets, none convenient to use. "Worst part of the trip"
We were very, very disappointed in this place. The majority of the hotel houses local people, some of which made us feel a little unsafe. A security guard was settling a domestic dispute, trying to take an angry, arguing woman by the arm as we checked in. It was very dirty and a small decorative pool was being "maintained" (though not currently), resulting […] in an algae filled pit with tools around while we were there. Inside the room, I found several long black hairs on the ground and two shorter dark hairs in the bed. Any surface touched often, like doorknobs, lightswitches, etc, looked filthy! The day bed was REALLY bad looking, with crumbs or something on it and it was very misshapen. I honestly got the feeling the room had been flooded by a hurricane and not fully cleaned afterward. The bed was comfortable. The bar was nice, as was the bartender, but front desk staff didn't make us feel like our questions or requests were welcome. She seemed quite annoyed by us. Maybe the worst part was at about 9 am,while we were in bed and unclothed, getting a knock on the door, with no identifying comment like "Housekeeping." We said "Don't come in!" not knowing who it was or anything, and the person proceeded to use his key to come in. I ran and slammed my body against the door, shutting it abruptly in his face. We yelled "Don't come in" twice, and he still was coming in. The person never identified himself, so we still don't know what that was all about. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Inexpensive for the area"
I read the reviews before I booked the hotel. The room had a kitchenette, had an ocean view a short walk from the beach, and a comfortable bed which is what we wanted. My biggest complaint was that the reviews were correct about the lack of hot water and water pressure in the shower, it was unbelievable so we complained and they changed the shower head […] but it did not solve the problem. The house keeping staff washed my dishes which I did not expect, so I have to say they went beyond their duty to keep us happy. If you want an inexpensive room for the week to sleep after a long day of activities and you dont mind a warm quick shower than you will get your moneys worth here. If you want to be pampered and spend more time in your room than I suggest spending the extra money and going elsewhere. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This was an awful place to stay. The staff was rude when they even bothered to acknowledge your existence. We will never stay here again and would recommend the same for anyone else!!!!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Quirky, but decent and affordable"
If you are willing to get past some of the "rough edges" of Treasure Island, it is a good value and, in its own way, a hidden gem. I will say up front that I was not enchanted with first appearance of the open air lobby or the over-lived-in look from the outside of several rooms. BUT, the ocean view rooms have a balcony and you can sit and enjoy the […] mornings and the evenings with a very relaxing view past the decently maintained pools and courtyards to the ocean in the distance. Don't count on their beachfront - it is NOT good - VERY rocky and not comparable to brochures. But, it is a 4 or 5 minute drive to several nice sandy, blue public beaches a couple miles to the north. So, you get decent lodging, decent courtyard, decent poolside bar for evening drinks, and you can even have a nice family barbecue on their pits between the pools and the oceanfront. Unlike their website states - the internet in the rooms is WIRED, not WiFi. But, it works (albeit I had to power reset the router on a couple occasions). Overall, you get a place to stay that is walking distance to Georgetown, the grocery, many shops and restaurants and the couple grand you save on the rooms for putting up with the quirks can be spent on the other facets of your trip. It was a good place to stay if you are on a budget, enjoy the pool and a not so nice beach. If you stay here and rent a car to go else where on the island, it's fine. Now a days, this hotel is rented out to people staying on the island for a few months at a time. Because of that, the "resort" aspect is almost non-existent. They never had clean towels […] to give us and even o ly changed ONE of the beds sheets on two occasions! Overall, it's not a nice place to stay. The staff could care less about customer service and the place is just dirty. We even saw a few cochroaches! Thankfully they weren't in our room! Oh yeah, and we didn't have hot water and our AC leaked a huge puddle all over the floor. We used our towels to mop up the mess so naturally, we were extra annoyed that the hotel ran out of clean towels not once but TWICE!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Resort? No, more like a dorm!"
Mattress had a definite low point in the middle and we rose the next day with extreme backaches. We requested a new mattress but were told that it was fine. After much discussion, finally an off site manager was called to approve an exchange. The major problem with the "resort" was that it was not a resort. It was really a short term rental hotel and […] thus was not treated as a daily rental hotel. Most of the rooms were rented by young adults, up to 4 to a room, who were working in the area.We had to beg for a coffee maker, "supplied" coffee, change of towels. It was supposed to have a full functioning kitchenette....there was one regular glass, one wine glass, barely any silverware or pots. One could make, at the most, a can of soup. There was no table to eat at on the balcony.Tv and Wi fi was not ever functioning correctly, on 2 of the 4 Days not at all. The "resort" amenities were totally lacking, no on site breakfast, no pool towel service, etc.Definitely not a resort! On one of the days the elevator broke and was not repaied till the following day. There was no handicapped access to the 5th floor, where we were staying, so we had to walk up and down the 5 floors, definitely a major problem with a partial ACL tear. "Not for the rich and famous!"
This is the least expensive place to stay that we found on the island and it's our second visit. The grounds, pool, lobby, and beach front are immaculate. The rooms, not so much, but they are equipped with micro wave, fridge, stove, coffee pot, patio with chairs. I found the secret to having the room tidied: don't be there. If you are, they only ask […] what you need done, or do you want your beds made, or need towels? When not there, trash is emptied, beds made, towels replenished, dishes washed. I put soap on the tracks of the slider door that maintenance never came to fix, but they did find us hangers. It's a beautiful view from the ocean front patio. The grocery store off lobby is a nice addtion this year, and the nachos in the lobby bar are awesome. The price is affordable. The room is adequate. The staff upgraded the room to ocean view. OK.... got there to think that we were in the condos that you can walk out on to the beach... NOOO... we were in the tenaments of CI. Dirty, dingy, unhelpful staff, didn't have our reservation until an hour after I gave them the information. Then they "found it" BUT we couldn't check in for another 4 hours.... not noted on the paperwork, OHHH but then […] amazingly they found a room, smelly, dirty, NO, NO, No. Left in the rain, suit case in hand looking for ANY ROOM, ANYWHERE!!!! Found something. Thank goodness. This place is used as a local tenament. Local people rent it out much cheaper than you if you go there and sign in.... DON'T GO AND DON'T SIGN IN. "Untimed at heart!"
Pay extra for the Ocean side as we stayed here twice and the second time we did ocean side (5th floor if you can). Basics of what is required for modern budget (Cayman) stay. Bus rides are easy in both directions from this location. Small store has basic food and drink needs. You will find plenty of options for food and drink in walking distance if […] you do not want to make use of the kitchenette. Snorkeling to the seven mile beach direction will bring visual pleasure as we spotted young parrot fish along the way. December currents are milder then March currents, but it is nothing that would prevent you from having fun. Sports (connected) bar has a great burger with fantastic mushrooms and the chicken mango sandwich is Great! If you think that every pillow needs a mint this is not the place for you. "Don't judge the book by its cover"
We were staying with a larger group of people at a time-share nearby and wanted a quiet night as a couple so we booked one night at Treasure Island as a "getaway." It turned out we couldn't wait to get away from this hotel. While the outside is nice and presentable, the hotel itself is very outdated and run down. While it was clean, it was hard to be […] sure as everything was completely worn out. The only updating that we noticed was the door to the room had a proximity sensor lock so you just had to wave the key by the lock to unlock it. Cool, but I would have rather had a bathtub that didn't look grimy and rusted out or fixtures that didn't look like they belonged in a dumpster or an elevator that smells like rot and mildew. When I read other people's comments I thought, "aw, it's not that bad" but I can tell you that if we had been staying at this property for the entire week we would have figured out a way to go somewhere else. "Great Location/Cool Bars"
Treasure Island is at a great location and you can walk to a wide assortment of shops and restaurants on 7 mile beach. It is right in the middle of everything and that is a huge plus. The crowd is younger with many college age folks taking advantage of the several bars on the property and others nearby. This is not an upscale resort. The rooms meet […] the basic test of being clean. But if you want a high end mattress and pristine bathroom this probably is not your cup of tea. I'd definitely recommend for patrons who want to enjoy the night life, who need a cheap home base for shopping, enjoying great beaches, and snorkeling. We had an ocean view room as we paid for. The reception personnel were friendly and attentive to our needs - providing an early check in and pool towels to use while we waited for room. Kitchen was missing toaster and utensils that would have made cooking easier, but I think guests have been hard on this place over the years. We were quite disappointed in the hotel from previous visits there. The first thing noted was the elevator was quite dirty. Our room looked good and had a kitchenette with a fridge that was nice. "Four Weird Days"
Not as advertised. I've already reported our experience to Expedia. Was talking to them over the phone and the phone went dead. Internet in room did not work the 4 days we were there. Every day we reported it to the front desk and it was going to be taken care of. The first room we were given had at least a TWENTY-year old mattress with springs sticking […] out all over. The kitchenette was equipped by a miserly person.. We immediately asked for a change of room, but supposedly the place was full. We were a long, long, long walk from the elevator, and there were no helpers around. Finally, we got another room close to the elevator and the bed was okay. The pool had no shower and you came out of the pool all greasy from sun tan lotion. No security,in the hotel as anyone was allowed to go up to your room (4 floors) to deliver food from whichever restaurant you chose. We therefore had to carry our valuables WITH us wherever we went, including the pool. We are used to travelling 3-star, basic accommodation, but we would rate this place, right on the main boulevard as 1-star. Found out they are individual condos and each owner supplies whatever they choose, so there's no consistency in the quality, as we found out... "Treasure Island Disappointing-February 2012"
Arrived January 28th for a week long stay. This hotel appears to be more of an apartment building for the local working class. Although we found most of those folks to be fairly private, its not an ideal vacation resort. This property is screaming for a major renovation! I would think it would be a wise investment and would start with new patio doors, […] new bathroom fixtures and also new kitchen fixtures. Step two would be new painting inside and out. This property is for someone that can overlook the current low level of the properties interior and exterior lack of freshness age and level of cleanliness and bascially enjoy the amount of square footage in the room, balcony, pool area and convenient location. The pool area was very nice and a great place to get sun and swim. The sidewalk leads to the ocean beach, and you'll find a protected man made cove to swim and snorkel. I wouldn't stay again, but I enjoy this island. The other properties on this island all charge more. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

My stay at Treasure Island was Ok . The hotel and room was satisfactory. The room was clean and comfy, nothing fancy, just a decent room, not much of veiw from balcony, just a parking lot below. The real dissapointment is the area nightlife and bars at the hotel. The bars at the hotel close too early ! 1 AM on a friday night . 12 AM on a saturday night. […] In my opinion this is ridulous. I thought that island was very boring and really would much rather have traveled to Vegas to spend my hard earned money. "comfortable & affordabe"
As a person on a budget, I was looking for something comfortable. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the room itself and the friendly cleaning lady who wanted to give me new towels every day. In addition, it was very Hot while I was there, but the Air-Conditioning was excellent as well. Since food prices are very high on the Cayman Islands, […] I greatly appreciated the kitchenette so I was able to cook on the electric stove several times. In addition, the mini refrigerator also came in handy, as my drinks were kept cold. I was also able to request a toaster and coffee maker without any additional charges. Overall, the place was very well maintained including the pool, whirlpool, and access to the beach. On a daily basis in the morning time, the pools and surrounding areas were being cleaned. Of importance, was the mini market in the lobby, where I was also able to buy cereal, some snacks, and coffee.Even though I wanted more water pressure in the shower, the hot water was always available in the morning time. Since I was on vacation and wanted peace and quiet, the resort was perfect for me. In conclusion, I would definately recommend this resort to others. It was very affordable and clean.
