The hotel staff was very welcoming & ready to fill our needs. However, the hotel needs some updating. Our toilet cover was cracked and the toilet would often run on and on. Our room door wouldn't unlock. The HVAC was ancient & hard to control room temperature. Ants were in both of our rooms (8th floor!). Prices in the restaurant were quite pricey, but food service was good. It is a beach hotel, so location is great but it takes a lot of wear and tear from the guests.

We really enjoyed our trip to the Sheraton - a few notes - Red Tide is probably rare - however - none of the places in South Padre or Port Aransas mentioned it to us - and it was going on. It was not fun to find out about it.... The Sheraton's swim up bar is open Friday and Saturday ONLY and then only if weather permits. This did not damper our trip much, we simply took our own alcohol down :) There was all of 10 people in the hotel so things were very lax. The hotel was clean, in fact I have horrible dust allergies and had NO PROBLEMS there at all. The staff was attentive and having a refrigerator and coffee maker allowed us to save money on breakfast (FYI - 1 mocha and 1 coffee cost us $10 at the local coffee shop) I highly recommend this hotel - look for deals - we were able to save $300 by looking and re looking after we booked

Hotel was very nice. Very comfortable bed and room was quiet. It is close to the beach so that is a plus. Prices for room service are ridiculous though. Pet friendly and we will sure come back again.

I was in SPI for business and wanted a hotel on the beach that wouldn't cost the client an arm and a leg but that I could enjoy. I was a little reticent about the Sheraton- the outside photo shows a pretty old building and you never know. What a surprise! Completely redone, this hotel is beautiful. The rooms are plush and comfortable, with great beds and flat-panel television sets. I was thrilled with the tile flooring- infinitly better from a hygiene perspective than carpet, especially in a damp climate. Fabulous location - right on the beach. The Sheraton also has a lovely pool for those who aren't big on swimming in the Gulf.

We had to change our honeymoon plans at the last minute due to a hurricane! We hopped in the car and drove to padre. The hotel staff was so accomodating. Everyone was so nice. The view from our room of the pool and beach was so beautiful. The beds were soft and comfy. I have been to south padre island several times and this was by far the nicest hotel I have stayed at there.

Comfy beds, spacious rooms, awesome views, perfect convenience, right on the beach, great pool w/waterfall, all employees were friendly, helpful, and courteous, safe and secure, room service was quick and tasty, great location on South Padre, would highly recommend and will definately stay again.

I loved the hotel location, right on the beach. It had a beautiful pool. I did not like the feeling of being nickled and dimed. $2.15 for a cup of coffee, refills 2.15, for the price you would think complimentary coffee would be included. The breakfast buffet was also outrageously expensive.

everything was great except the tile in the condos it damped up and made it all wet when you open the balconey doors.

My kids loved being right there on the beach. Food was great. They felt like they were at a 5 star Mexican resort with all the fun things to do and great facility.

First, let me say that the location was great and the pool was fantastic. However, The room was nowhere near what was promised. I was supposed to get a deluxe king suite on a higher floor with a pool and ocean view. We were on the 3rd floor, which is the lowest floor for rooms. You could barely see the oceon. Also, the room was not very clean. The comforter had stains that looked like feces. It took about 4 hours to get the comforter changed. Several things in the room did not work. The room safe had to be replaced as well as the mini-fridge. There were many problems with the room. The staff was very un-friendly and did not seem to care. We came back to the room at about 5:30 p.m. from the beach one evening. Housekeeping did not leave enough towels, so we let the front desk know. Four and 1/2 hours later we finally received our towels. It took three phone calls and finally a visit to the front desk in order to get these towels. These are just a few examples of our trip, I could give you many more. I have stayed at several Sheraton's, they were all great, except for this one. Finally, please don't waste your money at this hotel. There are plenty of others to choose from that are a better price and with much better customer service.

To begin with check in was at 3pm we reached around four just to ensure our room would be ready....But they did not have rooms ready and were unapologetic for it blaming it on a large check out. Our room was provided at 6.25pm. The room had water dripping at places..and was even the room phone had problems. Its a very poorly maintained hotel with equally bad management. I complained and the manager on duty was supposed to call back...which he/she never did. Even Room Service was managed in such a poor manner that it spoiled the whole idea of being served in your room. Only the restaurant was the saving grace, specially with the warm service by Aremis. I will never suggest this hotel to anyone ever.

I wanted to get away for the weekend and booked this hotel because it was on the beach. The Hotel is beautiful. I believe the hotel was under some renovations because when we got to our floor all we could smell was paint. The smell was a bit unbearable. Also it was hard getting up and down from our floor becaause only one elevator was in service. When the elevator would finally get to our floor the doors would open only to see that there was no room for two of us. Instead, we would take eight flights of stairs. It got annoying towards the end our trip. This is a great hotel, I really enjoyed SPI. This is a great hotel but, before you book,ask if renovation is still going and ask where parking is available.

The hotel was great but during our stay only one elevator was working. The waiting line was long for the elevator.

Great place to stay, good pool, great rooms but needs to work on the elevator. I recommed staying on the lower floors and taking the stairs, excerise is good. Have 3 elevators but hurricane Dolly has all but 1 not working right now. So Sheraton please fix your elevators especially during check in and check out times.

What a fantastic place. First of all, the location is very convenient. And driving around the island, the rest of the hotels looked pretty scanky compared to the Sharaton. Lots of restaurants around the area. Very friendly hotel staff and very accomodating. The pool area is fantastic! Easy access to the beach. The hotel is so well designed because no matter what room you get, you will have an ocean view. LOVED IT!!!!

On arrival it is a very nice hotel and we were informed that the hotel had just opened a week and half prior to our stay... I had requested a king bed but once we arrived at our room it was two queens so the bell hop (who was very nice) said he would go down and get it changed for us. After waiting for approx 40 minutes he came back and said they had no king beds, So we went down ourselves and it turns out they did have a king bed on the fourth floor, but as it turns out this floor was not finished. Overall our stay was very nice hotel in addition I must commend the night Manager Victor for all his help and he made the remainder of our mini vacation "superb"

The hotel had reopened the week before after the hurricane. There was only one elevator functioning and no easy access to the stairs. We had to request things a couple of times from the front desk, before action was taken. The hotel itself is very nice and comfortable. Great location, nice pool area. maybe in 6 months it will be ready to go.

We knew that a tropical storm was arriving in the middle of stay. Prior to checking we asked the desk what the status was, and if we should even check in. The response was a ho-hum, just a little storm, we have back up generators and it will be a small inconvience. We found out later that the entire island had already been declared a disaster area PRIOR to us checking in. And this is how it started. We were ushered out of the pool at 4pm, 12 hours ahead of the storm...'for our saftey'. So we showered and went down for dinner, when we noticed 20 people in the pool. We asked those people if they were asked to leave the area, and they told us that the manager told them that 'they could swim until stuff began flying around'. So my wife asked the manager if this was true, he took offense. My wife never raised her voice or used a foul word, yet I was told she had 'the potential to ruin other guests experiences'. I asked if anyone complained about her, 'no, but people glanced in her direction'. All this in front of our son, in the dining room, wife in tears she was soo embarresed. Next the hurricane hits, and the staff is on vacation from that point forward, the generator isnt in working condidition, caos ensues. We were all givin one glow stick to find our way in the dark....fortunatly we had 3 flash lights we brought. I noticed some people had sandwiches..... I inquired, oh.... the hotel had food set up in the far corner. I asked the manager why they didnt tell anyone.....ready.... he didnt want to 'start a stampede'. So all the people with children, who hadnt eaten in 16 hours.... didnt know. Fast forward to after the storm. Everyone was told to move thier cars to the other hotels covered parking....everyone except those parked in the handicap parking.... make sense?! Our vehical was totaled, windows gone and filled with sand and salt water. I asked they didnt tell the 4 people in handicap and was told by the 18 yr old desk clerk that 'it should have been common sense'

When we arrived the hotel was overbooked. They were going to place us in another resort. I told the manager that I had done my research and all the other resorts were unacceptable. I told him to go back to his computer and pull a room out of his magical hat. Told him that if I was the president of the US and stopped there for the night he would find me a room. I demanded the same kind of attention. I was not going to back down until I had a room. He said let me look at my computer and I will be back in 2-3 minutes. 2-3 minutes he came back and offered me a handicap room. I asked if I could view it first before making up my mind. He personally escorted me up to the room to preview it. I quickly accepted because I really wanted to stay at the resort. He promised the next day to provide us with a magnificent room. The next day we were given a King Parlor which was a huge upgrade. I had a family of 5. It had two rooms with a wet bar. We had a fridge and microwave which helped curve costs for meals. We had a huge patio with a view that allowed us to see the entire island and even the bridge leading to Padre. Customer Service is awesome. Not only do they deliver what you request but also call to confirm that you received whatever you requested. My stay here was much better than the Radisson. If you are trying to choose like I was between the Radisson and the Sheraton. Please pick the Sheraton. You will be so much happier and have such a better stay. My kids loved their stay at the Sheraton. Service at all the bars and restaurant is awesome. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. I will definately make this part of our summer tradition.

Great location and nice room but this Hotel is plagued with poorly trained staff. We have stayed all over the island but on South Padre this is about as good as it gets. We experienced the Hotel doing loud maintenance work at 8:30 AM in the room above ours and when we called to complain at 8:50 and the operator said that even she could hear the noise in the background but said they should finish in a little while. It finally stopped after 40 minutes, forget sleeping in. We also attempted to order a chocolate milkshake at the pool bar and grill. They first directed us to go ask the inside restaurant to make it since they had the icecream. We tried that and they sent us back to the outdoor bar because they said they did not know how to make a milkshake. After about 20 minutes the bartended handed me a glass of ice milk with some chocolate syrup... I was baffled by the lack of common sense at this hotel. But the room and pool was nice and the direct beach access was great!

We really enjoyed our stay, our room had a great view of both the bay and the gulf. Really nice room, the Hotel was awesome!

Our stay was great. Our floor was wet in some spots. We followed the trail to the air conditioner, it wasn't unbearable we stayed in the room anyway.

CONSTRUCTION GOING ON AND ALOT OF NOISE. OTHERWISE WAS VERY GOOD STAY

We had a blast in South Padre and the Sheraton is an excellent hotel. The only problem was that there was construction going on RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the sheraton (some condos going in). I believe they are scheduled to be complete in late 2008, but definitely call and check before you go......not real relaxing having buzz saws and bull dozers going off right next to you while you're laying out at the pool

Hotel and guestroom were very clean, we were in walking distance to the beach..the staff were fantastic...overall great experience. We were there for 3 nights for a small vacation, and were able to relax and have a blast.

The hotel was located right on the beach which was great. We went downstairs and walked through the pool area and we were on the sand. That was a great perk. So now for the bad...as soon as we pulled up we had to walk through a construction tunnel to get to the front desk. Not to appealing for a weekend get away. Our room was clean but needs some improvement in the shower. When we went to the pool area all we heard was jack hammering, banging, and men speaking spanish loudly to each other. Not a very relaxing atmopshire. But since we were right on the beach we spent all of our time there away from the construction. Don't order room service you will never know when it will come. Our's never made it. When we were walking around the hotel we walked past at least 4 hotel managers and all we got were dirty looks. The majority of the staff just acted grouchy. We did talk to a few hotel staff members that were friendly, but don't expect to much in that area. The next time we go to South Padre Island we will be staying somewhere else. The gift shop itself and staff were fabulous.

The shower in our room did not have a temperature control, so the first morning the water was freezing and the second day it was too hot to get under. If you plan to stay there, I suggest calling and asking whether the construction next door is still going on. It was very noisy.

The staff was great - always very friendly. The pool area was very nice. The hotel room itself could use a remodel in the near future. The sliding door to the balcony was nearly impossible to open, the bathroom door was impossible to shut completely. A little updating would be nice.

February 2008 construction near and around hotel creates much noise and dust from morning to night. Wait for the end of construction for quiet. Maintenance and closings of pool areas are unavoidable, like the hot tub. High rise 30+ floor condos being erected blocks sun to the pool in the afternoon. If you don't drink much coffee or enjoy popcorn, it shouldn't bother you that no microwave is in the room. Decent shopping is all around you and shops are clean. The beaches are sandy and tropical senses are aroused between jackhammer sounds. Overall, enjoyed the visit.

We arrived during the business week and until that moment everything was good. But on the weekend the cleaning service quality deteriorated, maybe because of the hugh number of people flocking in. If you need a quiet room I would suggest to ask for that because the construction work outside the hotel (South side) is very annoying. Front desk service was friendly.
