The location and neighborhood are just average - for us, we had a car - so driving over to Duluth daily (or downtown Superior) was not an issue. There is not a lot in walking distance besides a couple taverns, gas station, etc. I like the Super 8 chain: it is usually very dependable for a nice room, good rates, etc. However, this location is a bit run-down, […] and there were at least a few maintenance issues that effected us directly. (1) Our room had a heater/AC unit that did what it wanted. No matter what selection we made, the thing blew hot air. Sadly, it was WAY MORE hot air than we needed, so in the middle of January, with the outside temp hovering around ZERO, we had to open the window to cool the room down. Folks, that's a hot room! (2) The shower control knob was rotable 360 degrees, and had no discernable pattern to what was hot or cold water. Move it a millimeter, get scalded or frozen, at your own risk! (3) The one ice machine in the building was broken both days of our stay. (4) The hallway floors were creaky - you can hear footsteps down the hall all thru the night. (5) The toilet did not flush properly - you really had to hold the handle down for several seconds to stand a chance of the bowl actually emptying. Super 8 Superior - please renovate your hotel, not for fanciness, but for the basics. Read more

I have stayed here before. I like its easy location, next to a couple local eating places, gas station next door that has anything you need. Room is good, bed comfy, place was quiet. Guy at desk made sure under no uncertain terms was there to be a pet or smoking going on, LOL. Breakfast was good enough and they have post cards so don't go searching […] all over town for them. Also, gas station next door has them and anything you could possibly need for snacks etc. This is the only place I stay when in Superior. Read more

Very comfortable bed. The morning desk clerk was extremely friendly and helpful. She even mentioned there was still some breakfast left after hours, so why didn't we relax for a few minutes with a cup of coffee and help ourselves. We did! She also assisted 2 other gentlemen with information on community information and hotel loyalty programs while […] we were having breakfast. She's clearly an asset to the hotel. Asked for a room for four adults, received two double beds! Staff were courteous and quick to provide us with our needs. Breakfast was humble, fortunately there is a nice diner within walking distance.

a smelly old motel - not a hotel. i selected two full beds online and when i checked in, my son and i were informed we would be sharing a queen-sized bed. that was disappointing. spent way too much money for poor lodging.

The hotel was average for a Super 8. It was clean, room was a little on the smaller size, but not bad. Breakfast was basic and very limited, but had fantastic breads and sweet breads from a local bakery. The staff were great. Both the lady in the evening and the lady in the morning were extremely helpful in providing us information on the local businesses […] and attractions. They were as good (if not better) than some of the folks who work at some of the tourist information centers we have stopped at along the way. Great directions, accurate descriptions of businesses and attractions. It would be worth it to come back just for the great staff at the motel. Read more
