We always love staying at Candlewood. Although we paid over 150 dollars a night for a one bedroom suite, we were still satisfied with the value. The room was clean and the hotel was obviously very new. I love the aspect of the small grocery store in the lobby. The only problem we encountered was at midnight on our first night, a snow plow plowed the parking lot, right outside our window. This went on for at least 45 minutes. He kept dropping his plow and dragging it alone the very icy parking lot which created a crazy amount of noise. I kept wondering how long it would go on! I have lived in ND for a LONG time and never been in a situation where I was subjected to a snow plow right outside my hotel window. Totally unnecessary. We spoke to the front desk, the GM was notified and was displeased with the snow removal service. My question is..... why didn't someone at the front desk tell the snow plow operator to leave and come back at a more opportune time.... like the morning around 9 or 10?

This hotel is old and very smelly, no amount of air freshner could cover the old smell. It was dark and dingy and I would not even walk on the carpet in my bare feet, for sure wouldn't use the ancient shower. The price we paid was way to high for the condition of this hotel. The staff were very pleasant and there was nothing they could do about the […] smell but we were lucky that they let us check out after only one night. Would have been nice if the bathroom door and the plug ins worked ! Also the peaking lot is so small that we had to park at the building next door . "Overnight for MSU"
We stayed at Super 8 while we got our MSU student settled in at residence. The hotel was very close to the campus, staff at front desk were polite, helpful and courteous. The only downfall was the upkeep of room. It had seen a LOT of use, and it showed. The toilet ran all night and we found that if we wiggled the flusher, it stopped. Annoying. "Very poor accomodations"
The rooms had an offensive smell and seemed very unclean. They need a total renovation. Breakfast was substandard. We had a choice of bread or sugar cereal. There was not even peanut butter only two types of jam. "Close to the Airport"
We have stayed at this hotel several times, because it is close to the airport. The hotel is always clean and the staff always friendly. We were a little upset this time as the phone in the room did not work and when I walked down 3 flights of stairs to tell the desk clerk her only suggestion was to wiggle the cord..... as if I hadn't done that before […] going down to talk to her. There was also no ash tray in the room and the pillow cases were so old and over used that one actually ripped when I pulled on it to adjusted my pillow. There was also a girl out in the parking lot at 3 in the morning yelling and being stupid, but we couldn't call front desk because the phone didn't work. "Texas Chainsaw Massacre Hotel!!!!"
I stayed at this hotel only because it was the last hotel available that allows pets in Minot. The service at the counter was mediocre and the front desk smelled strongly of curry. Because of the floods, there was a boiled water advisory in effect but there was no bottled water made available either free or to buy in the rooms. The room was non-smoking […] but reeked strongly of cigarette smoke and it was apparent that the rules were not enforced as other rooms were actively smoking and you could smell it throughout the building. The capper to it all was that there are bed bugs! My wife, baby, and dog did not have a pleasant stay. This building should be condemned. The sad thing is that the proprietor was gouging extra money because of the floods. I paid more to stay here then the Marriott in downtown Minneapolis. STAY AWAY from this dump!
