I stayed at the Super 8 in Dunbar/Charleston going from Apex, NC to Chicago, IL. It is perfectly located on the outskirts of Charleston town and is a clean and comfortable hotel. Our room had a very dirty and old-fashioned air conditioner that didn't work well. There was sticky stuff on the floor. Just overall was not a very clean place. But the beds were very comfortable and staff was friendly.

This was a very nice hotel, the rooms were very spacious and clean, the water was hotter than what I have at home, the breakfast was alright, and the service was nice. We booked for 3 nights but had to leave after he first night. I called hotels.com at 3:30 pm to cancel and they called the hotel to make sure it was okay and hey have me a full refund […] for the 2 nights! I requested 1room with a Queen bed, it was a double. The horl put us on the third floor, the hotel has no elevators. I doubt very much that this hotel could accomadate a handicapt perdon who could not use stairs. Also , you had to go down to the lobby for ice. The 2 dbl bed, non-smoking room was small. The vacuuming wasn't very thorough. Beds need new mattresses, Pillows are all shapes & sizes. We had 2 adults, 1 teen and 2 small kids and it was just barely big enough. The lobby only offers 1 table, 2 chairs so you have to bring your food back to your room. The breakfast was surprisingly more than adequate, […] though 9am is rather early to end it. There were people drinking at a picnic bench at the back of the parking lot at 10pm, which didn't leave us feeling too safe when we returned to the hotel. Overall, we'd stay there again because of the low price and basic cleanliness. Super 8 Dunbar is located adjacent to a Kroger Food Store, a Wendy's and a McDonalds. It is just a few miles for excellent shopping, restaurants, and the downtown area. We travel with two retired greyhounds, and their pet policy is very accommodating if you pets are clean, quiet, and well behaved. The motel was in a quiet area which we liked. We only had to travel a few miles to see our family. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We feel the room was clean and kept up. The outside was kept clean. Grocery stores and restaurants were close. We were very comfortable there and felt safe. We would stay there again.

Great overnight stay! The motel is walking distance from a 24-hour grocery store. Our room had a microwave and refrigerator and in-room movie channel included. "Sam" (Samantha) greeted us warmly with a Christmas Tree in the lobby. The next morning, my wife left her purse in the lobby and the morning desk clerk found it and kept it safe for us to pick […] up soon after. Our room was so filthy, there were socks on the floor from the previous guest, the carpeting in the room was disgusting, mold growing on the shower head an under the soap tray, rock hard pillows and rock hard mattress. Icky!

It was easy to find and staffed by pleasant people. There is really no where to eat nearby except for a Shoney's, but there are restaurants at the next exit.
