The location was ideal for NYC. The size of the room was reasonable. The staff was friendly, however the very busy lobby lead to long waits to check in and/or speak to someone at the front desk. The main drawback was the bathrooms were outdated and could have used a thorough cleaning. Overall for the price and the convenience of the location we would […] stay again. "Great location at a bargain price"
Big old hotel with lots of tourists. A bit of faded glory bit it's clean, bug-free and very close to trains and subway and Madison Square Garden. I will try to stay here for the rest of my project in NYC.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"overall not a good night"
I was close to very unhappy with my stay first my rooms carpet was not properly cleaned because there were shirt pins on the floor that could have been stepped on if not noticed. Then the front desk associate was not understanding on the fact that my original room was given away without a communication to me as the guest there, he told me to basically […] to be happy I got a bigger room. The lighting in my room was very faulty they would flicker on when I flipped the switch, and the floor was still smelling like smoke even in the NON-smoking area we requested. Also, the hotels stores did not take charge cards at all I had to go to the 7 eleven just to buy a quick snack which I don't understand why a hotel in the city is a cash only hotel. To top it all off the hotel charged for Wi-Fi which was shocking because there competitors provide free Wi-Fi services for all there guests. I was not happy. That was my first and final stay at hotel Pennsylvania. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Don't put your family here"
Listen if you just need a bed and that's it, hey the price is probably right for this part of town. However, this poor hotel is in huge need of a make-over. From the public restrooms to the door frame in my room. Are there termites here? I don't know how the chunk was missing out of the bottom of the door frame. This hotel is pretty run down unfortunately. […] Honestly, this was a business trip so I didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel. I wouldn't take my family here or put a friend here. The leg to the sink was crooked, when I came back later the first night they'd straightened it out :) . The toilet was something you'd see in a public restroom in a park. The water in the shower it was hot but wait.. it was hot.. then it was cold ... then it was hot.. You get the idea.. No regulation on water temp. Loved my visit to NYC, if you can you should find another hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very convenient location, kind of shady inside"
Hotel staff was great and location was great (literally right outside of Union Station)... the actual hotel reminded me of a Vegas casino hotel but one of the shady ones off the strip. Lots of random people sitting in the lobby, small stores selling random things, people running through the halls and you have to pay to leave luggage there after checking […] out. The hotel was nice and i would stay here again but the room was TINY. larg king size bed took up all walking space in the room, so two people getting around we were always bumping in to each other. great location and easy to anywhere in the city.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was more or less an over priced flop house the room for four had only one chair no table, there was a giant TV and cabinet that took up the whole room. The condition of the room was very run down not the nicest place to come back to in the evening, the bathroom well who uses shower curtains any more the legs kept falling out from under the […] wash basin and the general ambiance was drab and depressing there was no hotel information in the room. While the housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful this didn't carry through to the front desk where the attitude was quiet snappy and dismissive. A great location its such a shame they cant make the rooms match the room rate. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location but not so good quality hotel"
Good enough for one night stay . Very old ,not kept up,no shampoo ,no coffee maker, motel level walls/carpet/bed. Location was convenient as it was right across from Penn station. Expensive for quality but I guess paying for the location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Price was right"
No hot water in Sink and being so old it was dirty around edges, big burn hole in bedspread, and bathtub was rusty with chunks out around drain. Only used room for sleeping so met my needs this visitGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Don' t do it!"
Great location and friendly staff but absolutely horrible room conditions. Peeling paint, old furniture, ancient bathroom fixtures, molding calk, assylum like atmosphere. Very disappointed as it was our first overnight stay in NYC and paid over $300 for one night stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location and the room was small but OK but there was a very significant problem. The hotel staff had not cleaned the room before letting it to me. The sheets and towels were not changed, and worse, someone had gone to the bathroom and had not flushed it! ugh!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent Location, convenient for walking"
Across from Penn Station train/bus hub is a great location, saves money and time taking cabs, etc...Macys and Empire State Bldg one block away! Times Square less than 10 blocks, easy walk. FREE breakfast daily on floor we stayed on, coffee until 12noon. Most guests don't speak English. Check in line wait was somewhat lenghty, can store luggage for addt'l […] fee and wait for more convenient time. Free computer use in community room any time. Room was adequate, bathroom small. "Hotel Pennsylvania"
We knew ahead that this hotel was older and would have small accommodations. However, the convenience of the location to Penn Station and most of Times Square made for a fair trade off.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Anotehr Visit"
Budget room very small. However, they fillnal have more desk clerks so I did not have to wait in a long line to check in. They do need a second person at the desk when 6 am comes around. Nice to have a refrig under desk, but that made it difficult to use the desk. Needed a luggage rack. Hot water faucet had to be turned many times befopre the water […] turned off. It needs engineering maintenance to check it out. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bit of a dump"
Hotel was completely overrun with spring breakers. Probably would have been fine if I were a teenager but I was in New York on business and I just picked it because it was right across the street from Penn Station. If you're looking for a great location, look no further because this place is it. The rooms, however, are in a miserable state of disrepair. […] The bed cover had clearly not been cleaned/replaced in decades. The ironing board had what appeared to be dried blood. The bathroom door had so many layers of paint that it could not possibly be shut. Overall, the place had an entirely dingy feel. I have no complaints about the price or the location--some of the staff were even polite at times--but the room was entirely unsat and I won't stay there again. "well......"
The hotel entrance and lobby are beautiful. The door staff are friendly and very helpful. Desk staff was professional but detached. I was however VERY dissapointed by the size of the room and the condition. For a King Room, there was a king size bed, but hardly any room to move around it. The room was TINY. It appeared that it hasen't been renovated […] since the 1970's. For the price charged for the room, I was shocked to find out that I had to pay an extra for WIFI. Dunkin Donuts gives you free WIFI for a cup of coffee. Cheap and tacky to charge for WIFI. Additionally the HDMI inputs on the TV were disabled and the keyboard for internet TV didn't work. I highly doubt that I will stay here again. Over priced and under sized. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not the Best-Great Location"
The pillows were lumpy, room was dirty, hallway was dirty, saw a member of their staff walk right past 2 french fries on the floor like they didn't even notice. The worst part was the shower, without changing the temperature myself, went from really hot to really cold to really hot to really cold. All I wanted after a long trip was a comfortable shower. […] The tv didn't work and couldn't change channels. But the hotel is in a great location, price was good, and staff was nice at the front desk. Can anybody say free wifi? "Pet-friendly hotel in Midtown"
The rooms are not attractive but the bed is fine & there is a TV & plenty of room. The shower occasionally would spurt crazy-hot water despite setting temperature. If you can deal with that & that the room just isn't pretty (no artwork, no fitted sheets on bed, cracks in shower) then this is a fairly inexpensive place in a central location near practically […] every subway line. And no one blinked an eye that we checked in with our medium sized dog with us (though the housekeeper didn't want to clean the room unless the dog was in a crate). "Gets The Job Done"
Hotel was fine. Beds comfortable, showers hot! I could complain somewhat about the older, small television but I wasn't in NYC to watch TV. I could comment on the bathroom sink not being perpendicular to the wall along with other maintenance anomalies, but everything worked so there weren't any problems. A 3pm check-in time was a bit of an issue because […] of train schedules, but they got us a room anyway (about noon). I would stay here again, but not if I was seeking a hotel "experience". It was nasty! Found a roach in the bathroom!!! Carpet was dirty!! Waste of money and time!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location, but for the price you would expect a better finish of the hotel rooms. If all you care about is a bed and a hot shower, then ok, but if you want to spend any downtime in your room, I'd probably go elsewhere.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location"
Great location. Across the street from MSG and Penn station, subway nearby, and a block and a half from Macy's. Few amenities in room however and hair on the sheets when we got there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Loud"
Okay it wasn't that bad. If you can sleep through noise this place is perfect for you. Nothing but a place to put ur head. This is not a hotel that you hang out in you sleep and you leave and you only sleep if you can sleep through the noise!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great value for the money..."
It's historic. Cool Valet Doors. Great location. Big rooms. But like many old things, it feels old and the maintenance has been a bit slack. You wouldn't get this price if it was swanky and renovated. So if you can deal with the older carpet, unwashed window exteriors and tiles in the shower that don't match - it's fine. At the price I paid, I'd definitely […] return. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
