Nice little hotel located close to city centre. Staff are extremely friendly, and went above and beyond, such as finding me a fan from one of their offices as it was an exceptionally hot day. The weather did not help, we were virtually stranded in the hotel,and we had to cut short our trip by one night. Hotel in general was OK, but the evening meal was shocking. I trained as a Chef, so i know what i am talking about. 3 course for £20 sounds reasonable, but my pate was straight from the supermarket, and had just been cut in a square. Dry […] chicken with a sauce and frozen veg is not acceptable. The blackforest gateaux was straight from iceland and had just been portioned and served with some cream which had just been over sweetened, this was not the menu they had online, because that looked lovely. All my friends said exactly the same. Breakfast was superb i have to say, food aside we had a nice stay. I know they use this hotel as an inclusive 2 day break stay, and if we were on that tarrif the food might have been more bearable. Bathroom a bit tatty and hadn't been cleaned that well - a bottle top still on the floor when I arrived. Breakfast very good and the staff couldn't do enough. I'd stay again because similar priced hotels in Wolverhampton are not as good.

We stayed as we going to a gig at the civic center. Really close to town, think the taxi was 5 quid. Our only complaint was that the shower was either freezing or boiling, neither of us could figure out how to get a decent temp out of it. However our friend in another rooms shower was fine. So we used his instead. Would definitely stay there again.

It's was ok. Good for a overnight stay for one night and of you're looking not to spend to much time in the hotel itself. Staff were pleasant and nice but the hotel itself is very dated and creeky. The walls are very thin and can hear what the room upstairs is doing. I personally think its overpriced for what you get.

Convenient for our requirements. We were in the business centre. Luckily it didn't rain. The sloping roof in the bedroom was quite dangerous. So easy to bang your head. The hotel and room was very clean, friendly reception. The restaurant was very nice, the service was quite slow. Food good.

Excellent service from delightful staff. Breakfast and breakfast service good and very fast-important when you have a train to catch. Hotel would benefit from some repair work and redecoration. Having been born in Wolverhampton and knowing the Goldthorn’s past reputation we booked a 2 night stay. To say we were sadly disappointed was an understatement. The room allocated to us was in the Business Centre at the far end of the car park, quite a walk from the main part of the hotel. The building is in somewhat of a time warp, the entrance, carpets […] (tread bare, especially stairs) and decoration in the communal areas desperately needed updating. Chairs in the hall way were thick with dust and other seats looked as though they would leave your clothes stained. On a positive note, the room had been newly decorated, looking fresh and clean along with the en-suite, but the interconnecting door to the room next door meant that a lot of noise travelled. We were kept awake until the early hours. Only 2 out of the 7 rooms on that floor were occupied, so why put people in adjoining rooms? We were also woken by the central heating coming on at 5.30am and dustmen under the window, emptying bins at 6.00am. On the first morning we turned up for breakfast, both service and food was good. The following morning we arrived at 7.30, as we had to be somewhere by 8.45. After taking our order we waited for a while only to be informed that we had to wait for the chef, the breakfast staff did try to get our food for us only to be rebuffed by the chef, we complained at reception and only after the receptionists intervention did our food finally arrive at 8.05 (other guests by now had walked out cancelling their order). We discovered the chef was giving precedence to a “Breakfast Club” in another part of the hotel. It did feel as though the paying guests were considered by the chef as unimportant and could wait. We will not be staying at the Goldthorn again and certainly will not recommend it to anyone else. Read more

Just returned from our stay in the Goldthorn Hotel. We have stayed at this Hotel many times in the past, (about 4 times per year). It is central to most activities in the Black Country Area, and a Ten minute walk to the City area. The Staff are Superb, particularly the Restrurant staff. Louis, the Manager, is a particularly welcoming, friendly, and […] genuine person who would make even the the most downhearted traveller feel elated and cherished. The only drawback was that the room allocated to us was enclosed by an adjacent room and brick walls which afforded no view whatever. The Air Conditioning Intake was just outside our window, which meant that it was quite noisy during sleeping hours. Considering how Hot the weather was during our stay, and our room did not have A.C. we could not open the window at night. Having said all that, we would Highly Recommend this Hotel to any of our Friends, and indeed have done so in the past. Pity the The Org. who owns the Hotel dose'nt offer "Regular Guests" discounts on occasions, as we would happily return more often to the area. Best wishes to all the Staff and to the Hotel. Let's face it, you're not thinking of going to Wolverhampton for fun. This is a perfectly adequate hotel with spacious, clean rooms and en suite (recently refitted, at least in my case) bathrooms. There is free wi-fi and a good breakfast - give or take the cheap and nasty catering sausages. The swimming pool is somewhat underwhelming, but it is there […] if you want. There are no lifts, and some of the rooms are up a couple of flights of elderly stairs, through various fire doors and along assorted corridors with very aged decoration. Fick ett dubbelrum ! då vi påpekade att det var ett dubbelrum drog dom bara iväg den ena sängen några meter in under TV:n ! och sa ; S, nu är det ett Twin rum ! Ingen nattduksbord, ingen sänglampa då. Saknade också safty boxen som skulle vara på rummet.samt ingen byrå att lägga […] kläderna i, bara en liten garderob med 3 hängare, det var allt. Men rummet och andra utrymmen var fina och rena. Swimmingpoolen var underbart varm (+30 grader !) med bastu och gym-sal som man fick anv gratis. Eldre hotell med egen parkering, relativt sentralt for bilister. Grei nok frokost, kan spise middag der også men er intet gourmet-sted for å si det slik. Internett ustabilt og tregt. Ett rimelig hotell for deg som har noe utrette i WH.
