On arrival I was unable to find a parking space and had to park on a nearby road so obviously worried about the security of my vehicle. On arrival the receptionist was quite helpful but struggle a little as english wasn't her first language. I was then given a room key and told the room was on the second floor but was unable to find any lift so made […] the long climb up to the second floor. The room was really disappointing as no lights were working and I had to call reception to ask if they could either find us another room or fix the lights. In the end the receptionist came to the room and tried to fix the lights. The other disappointment was the size of the bed which was a three quarter bed despite booking a standard double. Hotel has convenient location - for us, since family nearby. Given we paid for a so called 'superior room', several little niggles. For example, room small, 1 coffee sachet, no waste bin, windows rotten. Have stayed here several times before and can't see any difference between normal and superior room. On arriving at reception there was a total lack of warmth from the receptionist there was no explanation on the facilities that were available. The bathroom appeared to be clean until you stood in the bath to shower then you noticed that the window and window sill had probably not been cleaned this year. around the window frame was encrusted with dirt […] and there were cobwebs on the inside of the window. The carpet while looked clean the edges around the skirting board had a line of dirt all round the room. I was checked into a room with a very loud persitant noise coming from the leisure club. I was then offered 2 more rooms which were subject to the same noise. I finally moved again to a room which was quiet. This room had a trickle of a shower so for the 3rd time I moved my bags to another room. The shower was not much better, the wallpaper was peeling […] off the walls, the extractor fan in the bathroom seeped an odour of cooking, the extractor unit itself was disgustingly caked in years old dust. There were 3 bulbs out in the room, one plug socket did not work, there was phleghm in the sink from the previous. I was also now in a twin room as opposed to adouble which I had paid for. Finally after all the fuss over the noise in the previous rooms, there ended up being an extractor fan just outside my window which operated all night from 8pm. Of all the rooms I was offered, none looked like the picture shown on this website and all were tatty and dated. I ordered room service as after all the moves had wasted an hour and needed to get on with work. The food was poor quality - grilled salmon on a few lettuce leaves and some tomato with reheated potatoes and no dressing. The leisure club was dirty and smelly - there was a very strong smell of urinals emanating from the gents changing rooms, the ladies smelt musty and the floor had not seen bleach in 10 years by the look of it. The facitlities were so foul it discouraged me from taking a swim as I knew I would have had to shower and dress in this environment. Overall my advice is DO NOT GO to this hotel. Read more

My partner and I booked a Superior Room for our 16 night stay, our first trip back to the UK in 2 years. First impressions of the hotel were not good. It was difficult to get into the room as both keys didn't seem to work (we were told by a member of staff this was common with a lot of the rooms and the key had to be inserted in a certain way for it […] to work!!!). Once in the room we felt the wardrobe and cupboard space were totally inadequate for a stay of more than 2 to 3 days. We did ask for a room with more storage space or the possibility of another wardrobe in our designated room but the staff were not helpful in this respect and did not offer any alternatives. Our big concern was no safe in the room and on 2 separate occasions the maid had not locked the door properly so anyone could have walked in. We had our passports, credit cards and laptop in the room so we felt quite vulnerable but thankfully nothing did happen during our stay. Quite often the reception was empty so anyone could walk into the hotel unchallenged and have direct access to many of the rooms. We found the staff to be quite sullen; it makes such a difference when people greet you with a smile on their face! On the plus side, the hotel location was excellent, an easy walk into both Hale and Altrincham which are both good for shops and restaurants. We both used the hotel's swimming pool on a no. of occasions which was a real bonus. Car parking was plentiful so no issue there. Overall, the hotel is ideal for a short stay but for stays of more than 2 or 3 days I would not recommend this hotel. Read more

Kleine kamers, we hadden een twee en driepersoonskamer, beide net zo groot en de twee persoons was al niet groot. Bij de driepersoons was gewoon een opklapbed neergezet. We hadden kamers net boven de keuken met de afvoor van de afzuigkap / ventilatie voor het raam. Deze maakte een ontzettende herrie, je hoorde de lucht wegblazen tegen een scherpe fluit […] toon aan. We konden hiervan niet slapen en ze zetten deze ook niet uit na het sluiten van de keuken. Dus telkens in de nacht naar beneden met het verzoek om deze uit te zetten. Telkens de reactie oh zijn ze zeker vergeten, wel was het personeel heel vriendelijk en konden we eindelijk gaan slapen. Van buiten ziet het er mooi uit, de kamers daarin tegen vielen zwaar tegen. Wel vriendelijk en het ontbijt was gewoon goed, wel onderhandelen over de prijs hiervan, hebben wij ook gedaan en dat scheelde met zijn 5-en toch ongeveer 30 pond. Read more
