It was good. The room was very warm though and we had a tough time cooling down otherwise it was a very nice room. The staff was great. The location was great but the hotel is somewhat confusing to get into.

We hope to never stay at this hotel again. The noise was horrible with kids running up and down the halls screaming at sun up. The chlorine smell from the pool clear up to the 3rd floor where our room was. HORRIBLE. Does not have air/heat control in the bedroom. Very hard to control the temp. The bed was too soft, couldn't sleep and the pillows were […] too flat. When I sat on the foot of the bed the bed actually folded in half. That's much too soft. We had a horrible first stay. We have stayed there before and LOVE the facility. The staff is great. Our only complaints are that the rooms were too warm to sleep comfortably and our king room bed was a bit over the hill. It wasn't the most comfortable, a bit lumpy and saggy. We stayed with a group of families for a basketball tournament and everyone complained that the rooms were […] very warm. That went for the hallways, the breakfast room and the pool area. The hotel could save some money by turning down the temp in the building a bit. I preface my comments by saying I stayed the previous two nights in Courtyard by Marriott properties, which are definitely a step or more above TownePlace in quality, so I noticed more what was missing. I was just staying overnight along the route from Des Moines to Rapid City, and it was fine for that purpose -- comfortable enough bed, quiet enough, […] spacious and clean room. All the finishes were builder's grade (cheap looking and flimsy), the air conditioning/heating unit was in the living room separated by a door from the bedroom, and the morning breakfast was most reliable with its pre-packaged options rather than providing anything fresh. You really notice you are saving money staying here -- though maybe not enough savings to appreciate feeling a little depressed about checking in. Pleasant staff, the fitness room equipment was typical for this sort of place, and folks were using the indoor pool when I was there. Just hard to be enthusiastic about recommending a somewhat soulless overnight roadside container of humans. Read more

My first floor room had a window open when I arrived and smelled like someone had been smoking (non-smoking facility). The bathroom floor was in need of a good scrubbing and the couch and chair needed cleaning. Overall a good facelift is in order.

The staff is very friendly and helpful with any requests or problems. We had an extended stay and loved the kitchenette so we could make our own meals! We will definately stay here in the future.

We had a six night stay at this hotel, and were overall we were impressed. However, we did find that from day 3 onwards the little extras were missing from the room - shampoos; face/make up wipes etc. The breakfasts were great although somewhat repetitive.
