Newcastle Gateshead Marriott Hotel Metrocentre - Tyne and Wear

Only stayed for one night on 1st January and the restaurant was closed although they did serve food in the bar. The leisure center also closed early so we were not able to try this. The room was comfortable and parking was free. The hotel is very well situated for Metro Center shopping and there are other restaurants nearby.

We used the hotel for a couple of nights in the north-east. Very comfortable room with good facilities (but no free internet was a disappointment). Excellent breakfast and a very good price for this trip (which is not always the case!!).

very good sized room with large, comfortable bed. All clean and staff courteous and friendly. Only gripe would be cost of breakfast and drinks in the bar. Would throughly recommend a short walk to Jashn curry house and avoid the Toby and Harvester opposite the hotel.

The hotel was approx 5 minutes from the Debenhams entrance to the Metrocentre. Extremely comfortable room at a good price. The breakfasts were very good, nothing I would change. Definately going back to this one.

Staff was very nice - absolutely no issues here. The room itself wasn't too well cleaned - dust was everywhere. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic and to be honest the only issue was the temperature in the room at night. We were on the first floor right above the swimming pool so: a) it was extremely hot in the room; b) we couldn't leave the window […] open as firstly the window opened only about 10cm at the bottom and right outside was a loud air conditioning from the swimming pool so we couldn't sleep at all; c) the temperature control you could set the heating but not the cooling so we slept in the room with about 25 degrees while used to the air movement and sleeping with the window open. Unfortunately we had to be moved as not all in room facilities were working. The shower was not working properly in the new room. The food was perhaps the most disappointing and certainly over priced for what it was. Very handy location near the metro centre but not up to the usual Marriott standard.

We have stayed in many Marriott hotels across the world and this regional hotel offered outstanding customer service to our family. We would definatley stay in this hotel again. Reception staff were friendly and were happy to meet our requests for ice water in our room and late check out at the last minute. The pool was great for the children and the gym is of a high standard. Nothing was too much trouble. This was good value for money for a family of four in a delux room. It was disappointing as the pool was closed and this was on of the reasons we chose this hotel. Also it is located in the middle of large car parks for the surrounding trading estates and the access road which you have to cross to get to the hotel car park is a local rat run.

Dont get to stay in hotels that often, but it was fab! Went with 70 yrs old mum and 7 yr old daughter and we all have a wonderful time. Room was huge, beds, including sofa bed, all made up and ready, didnt need to ask to anything. Handy for Metro and a quick bus trip into Eldon Square, without hassle of parking or charges for parking. 2 adults and two kids stayed two nights. Bed + sofa bed for kids. Room was good size not cramped - usual Marriott standard. Good value for money, breakfast was included. Didnt eat in the evening at hotel. METRO centre has chain style reseraunts 5 mins walk. Need to drive to get to other reseraunts. We have stayed at this hotel before and chose to again for its convenient location to the A1 and the metro shopping centre. It is also nearby to family. It is a very nice hotel and the breakfast choice and quality is excellent. within walking distance to the metro, clean large comfortable rooms..... however staff were not 'interested' in us, gave the people in front of us the hotel info about breakfast ( they then kept trying to charge us £31 for breakfast we never had)and other facilities. (my 15 year old tried to go swimming after 9pm and was told no kids under 16yrs perhaps […] if they had told us at reception we could have went earlier) my theory is when staying at this hotel wear a suit get respect. Very nice hotel if a little out of the way for city centre. A few niggling things: £50 to open the mini bar just to put your own milk in is a little steep. This is of course refunded if you do not use anything from the mini bar but the money does leave your account! £22.50 mini bar bill just for moving contents! This was of course rescinded but should […] not have been applied in the first place. Also, unable to buy a drink after 11.30 with money or debit card - you have to leave your card detail at reception and drinks are then charged to your room.
