The Downtown Los Angeles Marriott was a perfect hotel for our 2 night stay. It is right off the highway and there is easy access on/off the highway. We wanted a quality hotel close to Dodger stadium and we absolutely got it. The only put off was the additional $30 per day separate from our room charges to have our vehicle parked but the valets were very courteous and we were able to have in/out privileges.

Loved the service - front desk was great. Room was spacious and comfortable. However, the walls were paper-thin! We could hear the conversations of the people in the next room! The people in the adjacent room stayed up all night; needless to say we had a terrible time getting any rest that night. Maybe it was because we were in a room with a door that could be opened to the adjacent room. Perhaps other rooms don't have this problem. We loved the hotel, but couldn't stay here again due to the lack of quiet.

Reviewed by Walter of Los Angeles on Jul 14, 2009
The hotel and room looked nice and clean. Even though I stayed on a busy Friday night, the parking rate was ridiculous and the only way to park your car is through the hotel's valet service. The next morning, it took 35 minutes to get my car from the valet. According to the Valet Service Supervisor, that is the normal wait time if they had to park your car in their lot "across the street" as they did with mine. This ruined what would have been a decent one night stay.

My stay at the Marriot was ok, it wasnt what I exspected. Im not a peeky person but some things bothered me like...The parking was 30 bucks so we had to park somewhere else to avoid the fee, that sucked especially when we drove 8hours! The room needed some updating, everything looked old and there was mildow on the shower door. I was really upset when the curtains didnt close so when the sun came up I had to get up too. thank god we only stayed one night.

The rooms have not been updated since the 70's. The TV is old an junkie and barely works. There are about 20 channels total...and the movie ordering didn't work for most of the time...when it did work it was a million dollars per movie, and the TV buzzed the whole time the movie was playing. In addition...parking very expensive, and they charge you per night per car to stay at this hotel, and there is no other parking option. I booked this hotel bc I thought Marriot's are a guarantee of a nice hotel. I would never stay at this hotel again.

Convenient location. Good hospitality. Nice hotel from outside. But rooms were small, smelt of mildew, and the curtains were designed not to close. Only the sheer part of the curtains was allowed to close, so the sunlight shined through in the early morning=( But it did the job for the one night.

We stayed at the Marriott while attending events at the Staples Center for The World's Figure Skating Championships. The hotel is fairly close to the Staples Center and has lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. While our rooms were clean and comfortable (the beds were terrifically comfy!), it does need some updating. The furniture throughout the hotel was old and showing lots of dings and scratches. The bathroom also seemed outdated. If none of this bothers you, this is a great hotel in a central L.A. location.

The comfort of the room was the best part of staying here. Maid service and restaurant service was also top notch. But it's a confusing location to get to; the valet parking is the most expensive for guests of the hotel (which makes no sense), and the business office was understocked with supplies (no toner, low paper, etc.) and considering there was a writer's conference of over 200 in the hotel, I'd have thought they would've planned ahead. Instead, I was charged $8 for printouts I never got and it was a huge hassle (and time waster) to get that small credit back on my Visa.

The service wasn't poor...it just wasn't up to Marriott standards. We'd requested a 2 bed room, but when we were told that wasn't available, we were told a rollaway bed would be sent asap. Not! After calling again, though, it showed up fairly quickly. The one time we ordered room service, they left out half of the order. The service in the restaurant was slow, mediocre at best, and I never could figure out who our waiter was - it was whoever was passing by. Valet parking was very prompt and courteous, and a good value for a downtown LA hotel. This was very important, and much appreciated! We also used the cleaning service, and it was fine. The room and hotel were clean, and the bedding was comfortable. Great view from the window. Not hard to get in and out of, in spite of the one-way.

First off, who puts a coffee pot on their desk? The refrigerator (which also was the TV stand) was gutted of the refrigeration parts. Navigating the TV was a chore; unless mature movies are the selection. We did not have hot water for both evening and morning time periods (we did get prompt service to fix it; as we were leaving). The service was fairly descent; although they did not seem to have the hospitality when we came back from Universal Studios. There is no reason to complain about the $16.50 parking fee; that's a typical charge for valet. Had to pay for internet. In summary; the hotel looked good in the lobby. It had all the ammenities that you are willing to pay for. Not family friendly. The room had the feel it was the 'standby' for the unwanted guest.

The room was too hot at night which made it uncomfortable. There was no way to change the temperature of the room. A fan could be turned on and I guess that was how we should have addressed the problem. Also, the people next door were loud. We had hide-a-beds put in the two rooms we rented. An additional towel was added to one of the room but I had to request an extra towel in the second room. You have to use valet parking which adds to the cost and every time you check in the car or request it, you need to give a tip. This adds to the cost. The hotel had good holiday rates and it is close to the Disney Music Hall. The high rises add a special atmosphere and is a fun experience if you have not lived in an area with tall buildings.
