"Great part of the SF"
The Palace Hotel is a grand old hotel that has been perfectly maintained. The location is perfect, in the middle of everything, the Ferry Building, Union Square, Cable Cars, Financial district, China Town, etc. Staff is incredible friendly and rooms have those great old tall ceilings. We just love this placeGenuine Expedia guest review
"A satisfied repeat customer!"
The Palace has always been a favorite of mine whenever I visit San Francisco. The location is unequalled, the staff are very helpful and the ambiance is rarely matched in its grandeur.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Quality property, good value"
The Palace doesn't disappoint. It is a high quality property that is well run.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel would have been better especially for families traveling with children if it had more restaurants or food options inside the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"False Fire Alarms, Twice!"
There was a false fire alarm on the first night I checked in, around 1am. The alarm noise was enormous, and all guests came down covering their ears. Fire engines came, only to tell us it was the false alarm. On the next morning around 9am, there was another false alarm to wake everyone up. It was terrible.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Decent hotel in downtown SF"
Nice hotel. Decent location. Room service food was terrible - bland and cold. Person taking order could not answer questions about the food and gave attitude. Pillows were brick hard and too large. Asked for replacements and they accommodated. Fire alarm went off on the second night at 2 a.m. and into the next morning. They kept feeling the need to […] announce updates over the PA system after the alarms were shut off. Most staff was nice. They really push all the Westwood point and membership when you check in. Pretty lame when all you want to do is check in. Hotel was generally okay but nothing spectacular. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Elegant & Magnificent"
Love everything about Palace, especially the very elegant rooms with the high ceiling. Gym was great, open 24 hrs. Pool in atrium was gorgeous. Went swimming twice. Location was perfect. It was a hop, skip, jump from everything. We went ro dinner at Embarcadero, dessert at Ghirdeli parlor located in lobby of hotel. Very hard to resist with its sweet […] smell of chocolate as you enter the hotel. We had lunch at union square, ice skating in SOMA. Never have I stayed at a hotel in which every staff member and employee we encounter greeted us, from the lobby to the pool, to entering & exiting the hotel, even housekeeping, as busy as the usually are; stopped what they were doing & greeted us. It made our stay special and very welcoming. I will stay at the Palace again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great "pop-up" Weekend - 1 night stay for 8 People"
Service and accomodations were exceptional. We attended the "Tea" which even the guys enjoyed. After the Cirque de Soleil show (which they arranged the limo) we had a wonderful late night meal in the grill/bar. We said our good byes at the "over the top" Sunday buffett-can only be described as unbelievable and exceptional. Everything went smoothly […] because the staff was exceptional. "Great deal for comfortable hotel, perfect location"
Proffesional staffGenuine Expedia guest review
The Palace has an outstanding location!! It's a short, easy walk to shops an restaurants. BART has a stop just outside the hotel. The large pool was perfect for our 6-year-old. We loved the gorgeous lobby and quaint rooms. Our only complaint was that it was a bit noisy - we could hear people talking in the next room and hallways from our room. But overall […] our stay was really great! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Getaway in the City"
We came here on vacation. Our room was compact (2 doubles for a family of 4), but the beds and bedding were comfortable, and the room was reasonably quiet. The tall ceilings and massively thick doors probably help. There was plenty of room in the pool, the spa was always crowded since it's capacity was 4, plus - there was a large sauna to warm up in. […] The dining room was the best part - beautiful surroundings and great food and service. We would have loved to eaten every meal there, but it was too costly. If you drink tea, the Saturday Tea is a must! It was accompanied by live piano. Great for special occasions. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Elegant and Convenient"
Made a nice change from the chain hotels at which we typically stay. Service was a bit slow at times, but may have had something to do with the end of year busy period.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Palace is right in the middle of Soma and conveniently located in walking distances of sights, downtown and shopping. The hotel really does have a grand entrance hall. The staff is super friendly and the rooms are clean, nice and the beds are great. The only thing I hated, like with most SF hotels, is the fact that parking is extra and will add an […] additional $59 per night to your room fee. So if you are traveling with your own car, keep that in mind. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Grand hotel - elegant public spaces. Only problem was that our check-in coincided with a major event and took forever. Front desk was understaffed for an obvious and predictable influx. The staff, despite the tension, remained courteous and friendly. The problem reflected a bad management decision.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lacking its former grace, The Palace staff fails"
We arrived at this centrally located beautifully equipped hotel to a surly check-in experience. Once we were given the key, we found our rather depressing room with ill-hung curtains, phones and lights not working, and the general haze of dust showing an obvious disregard for deep cleanliness. When I called to get the light repaired, the phone rang […] without answer for a long time and then repeatedly the phone was answered and disconnected. When I walked down to the lobby, the desk clerk said that they would send someone up to repair the lamp, but that never happened in our three-day stay. With prices for room service of sub-par food through the roof, I think The Palace is just capitalizing on a reputation it no longer deserves and serving a constant event calendar rather than servicing the rooms in the hotel. "Vintage Hotel, Good Location"
We just stayed overnight at The Palace the night before Thanksgiving for a night on the town. Have always loved this hotel for its vintage, classy feel and it never disappoints. The rooms are smallish, but very comfortable. The shower felt great! Loved that there is a Ghirardelli cafe on the premises, but didn't get to dine on property. The location […] is great because it's near Union Square but not right on Union Square (less noise). "Incredible rooms and great history"
We stayed on a Friday night. The building is incredible...rooms and staff were great. Had breakfast at the hotel...expensive but delicious! We took the free tour at 1000 that went through the history of the hotel...we learned a lot and found it very interesting. Overall an incredible stay!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect location in the city"
Great location near Union square and all of the shopping. The rooms are very large and the attention to detail is great. Food/Drinks a bit pricey as well as the Valet; however, that's San Francisco.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fitness Center Staff is GREAT"
I know its a weird thing to call out, but the lady in the fitness center really went out of her way to ensure a nice experience. The fitness center itself is pretty nice too. Remember to bring headphones for the machines if you want to take advantage of the tv screen (I didn't). The pool is pretty shallow though, and the hot tub was less than appealing. […] Location is great for getting around, only a few steps from the Montgomery BART stop. The rooms were very comfortable, HVAC adjusts the room pretty quickly. The water in the bathroom sink smelled "dusty" (no other way to describe). Im not sure if thats a San Fran thing or not. Overall I'd most definitely stay here again. We enjoyed our stay. It was super busy because of the holidays. It's a very large hotel, and great location - but needs a little help. The Palace is a beautiful hotel with a great staff. But they need to retrofit their windows, which are ancient and very, very drafty. I stayed there on a cold December night and my bathroom windows were leaky (despite some ineffective inner "storm" windows), so I closed the bathroom door at night. Of course when I went to use the bathroom in the morning […] it was very cold - 50s? - and unpleasant. Come on, Palace, for the sake of your guests' comfort and for energy savings, please retrofit! "Great location, great hotel"
the only bad thing about the room was the noise from the hallway. every time someone would shut a door loudly, we could hear it quite loudly. we could also hear any talking, tray clinking, etc. quite audibly, which was strange. other than that the room was very comfortable- great king size bed with comfortable bedding, great blackout drapes, amazing […] shower head/pressure/temp, hotel cleaniness was excellent, and hotel staff was very helpful. the best part obviously was the great location to market street in SF. just a short walk from great shopping and the heart of SF. we loved walking to union & shopping @ westfield. we parked in the Hearst Garage on 3rd & Stevenson, which was cheaper than the hotel and only a short walk around the corner ($26 per 24 hours versus $50-60 per night for the hotel i believe). our stay was great and I love San Fran!! The Palace is a gorgeous hotel. The rooms are small, but the ceilings are high, giving the impression of a larger more spacious room. The bathroom was clean, water pressure was abundant and the shower was roomy. It has such an Old San Francisco feel, but clean and updated at the same time. The lobby is very crowded and I was under the impression that […] we would be able to spend some time hanging out in the lounge area by their huge beautiful Christmas tree, but apparently that is just for private events. Lovely, comfortable, crispy white linen beds. Our double standart room wasn't big or very fancy but the hotel decor all over makes up for it. We were there on Saturday night after thanksgiving. overall is fine, I loved the Garden Court and the Thanksgiving buffet, the Spa left a lot to be desired, no front desk person, the towel is too small, the locker room are dirty, they should go check out the Huntington Hotel's spa for their guest, is very well run, I always believe if you want to do something do it right!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in a great location"
Centrally located near Union Square and the Bart station and Muni stop are literally outside its doors on Market--so convenient to just leave your car in the garage. Also necessary because this area is always busy, and in my case with the President in town, essential. As a high-end hotel with historic significance, the facilities, staff, the comfort […] of the room, etc., are all superb and to be expected. "Beautiful Hotel, perfect location"
The palace is an architecture and design beauty. Especially the courtyard. The rooms were a bit smaller but had everything I needed. And the location right off the Montgomery BART in the financial district was perfectly convenient for meetings, shopping at union square, walking to the ferry building etc. Try sushirrito across the street from 11-3 (m-f) […] and breakfast at La Boulange just down a block was very good, fast and affordable. "An OK hotel but the soundproofing could be better"
We got this hotel on special but would have been very disappointed with it if we paid the listed rack rate. This hotel is centrally located and beautifully presented but there were a few downsides. On check in there was no one to take our bags and our room was quite a hike from the lifts (which was a bit of a problem when lugging bags and a 5 month […] old baby). There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms (something which I would definitely expect in a hotel of this quality). The concierge said that there was a complimentary tea and coffee station downstairs but that it only operated in the morning. To order tea and coffee from room service would have been exorbitantly expensive. Finally, the sound proofing between the rooms is not brilliant. We had a group of people next door to us who stayed up talking till 2am, which we could hear quite clearly (in return I'm sure that they didn't appreciate our baby crying at 5am). On the plus side, the crib we requested was in the room on our arrival and they did not charge us extra for it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Great location, by subway, trolley line--could easily walk to Union Square and China Town. The historical tour of hotel for 2 hours was offered by a local walking tour sponsor and was outstanding.
