"Very nice hotel. Comfortable"
I really enjoyed it. Very nice experience. Staff are very courteous and professionalGenuine Expedia guest review
Enjoyed the Royal Hawaiian for its 1920s architecture and prime location. Found the food menus at the Mai Tai bar and the Azure to be somewhat limited. Prices were high but that is the cost of the prime real estate. The sister Sheratons on either side of the RH had better menus. Room was nice but wear and tear is showing, especially the Tower elevators. […] The main hotel lobby and common areas of the original buildings are very well kept. Staff was very nice. "Beautiful hotel on the beach"
The Royal Hawaiian is special in that it is set up so that you feel like you are far removed from the busy Waikiki shopping areas, but you are actually close to it all! It's the best of both worlds, old school charm and service, lovely grounds and a stones throw from the action in Waikiki. I would stay here again, no hesitation.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent location but..."
the hotel desperately needs renovation. The elevators dated back to 1960's era. Slow but steady. Bathroom amenities are so so. Shower control button fell off. The staff was helpful. The location was the best feature.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Beautiful, classic, Hawaiian hotel. Incredible service, wonderful amenities, and perfect Waikiki location!Genuine Expedia guest review
"The Grand Dame of Waikiki Hotels"
The second oldest hotel on Waikiki has been updated with all of the latest amenities - but maintains its original charm and elegance. The service was excellent and we enjoyed our Ocean View room in the tower - especially having morning coffee on the balcony. We purchased the package with the breakfast included - and the choice of food was excellent. […] Overall our stay was wonderful! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

From the time you step foot into the hotel until the minute you leave, every detail if perfection. I stayed in February of this year and couldn't wait to come back. It is the perfect Hawaiian experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful hotel and staff but very expensive."
The hotel is vintage but kept up nicely and it is beautiful right on the beach, But, it is very expensive. You have to pay for a chair on the beach ($40-$50). The pool is only 4.8 feet deep and very small and only the back row of chairs around the pool are available for guests. You have to pay $40 for chairs closer to the pool. The ocean is great but […] packed with guests and others. Eating at the hotel will cost each person about $150-$250 a day (does not include alcohol). Everyone is very friendly whereever you go around the Hotel. Once you step out of the Resort you are in the town that is ultra crowded and you are in a large city with shops everywhere..all name brands and expensive..but friendly and polite. I suggest that if this is your first experience in Hawaii.....stay at the Royal for 2 days and then go to Kona and rent a car to see the real Hawaii. Although, you can rent a car at the Royal and go around Oahu, but it is very crowded...you will see some beautiful mountains.(Don't rent your car from the Royal $$$ go to the Hyatt's Rental Cars for half the price about $79 a day for a mid size car). Scuba is fun around $$. Go see Pearl for about $$. Go on line before you go to Hawaii and cho ose your entertainment that way. The price is almost double if you book through the hotel. The cab ride to and from the airport is $40 each way. Taking the shuttle takes longer and it is about tenmore each way. The cab ride was just us and fast and nicer. "Perfect location on Waikiki beach."
Spectacular hotel. Beautiful gardens. Classic style and much different from the big modern high rise hotels. Charming. Walking distance to shops and in the heart of Waikiki.Genuine Expedia guest review
The Royal Hawaiian is an oasis of classic elegance among giant corporate hotel chains towering over it. Driving in feels like your leaving corporate Waikiki and entering a country home. It's size provides for personal guest friendly service. It has six floors. You can access beach, gardens and walk to the zooGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was my first visit to Honolulu. I was amazed that there were no delays in any kind of service during our stay. Our room was ready just as we have arrived at 1 pm. Every time we ordered food to the room it would come exactly when it was promised to arrive. At the restaurants and the bar the waiter would approach us right away and bring the order […] within 10-15 minutes. The staff is very friendly and well organized. They do care about guests. The Abhasa spa is simply fantastic. I had lomi lomi massage done by Keiko and my daughter enjoyed her reflexology massage done by another masseuse (sorry don't remember the name) We loved it so much that we came back the next day for another session. There were always plenty of good quality towels in the room. The robes and slippers clean and looking new. They also provide soft tooth brushes and tooth paste in addition to the standard shampoo/conditioner/vanity set. The staff followed up on all my requests. The showers are equipped with Kohler shower heads on a handle that moves up and down. The water pressure is good and steady. Prior to the arrival I had an email communication with the hotel. All my emails were answered fully and fast. We will definitely be coming again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"The Royal Hawaiian Hotel"
This Hotel is very special, in the heart of Waikiki Beach, yet the grounds make you feel like you are a million miles away from everything. The history alone is awesome. The employees are all very nice and make you feel special.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great for business and a relaxing evening."
Very enjoyable. While I do live on the island, but about 1 hour away from Waikiki, the hotel was a excellent close choice for the meeting and then some much needed R&R in the evening.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very beautiful hotel right on the beach."
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone lots of lovely restaurants, everything is within walking distance.Genuine Expedia guest review
My wife and I enjoyed a weeklong stay at the Royal Hawaiian. Everything about the hotel was beyond our expectations. It was charming, clean, the staff was extremely helpful. The location was ideal. "wonderful historic hotel"
This hotel is a classic. It is in the center of all the action but once inside it is a quiet refuge. The service is wonderful. "Great spot right in the center of Waikiki Beach"
Nice historic hotel, very centrally located. Beautiful public areas. We didn't use the pool, which is a bit small, but it is right next to Waikiki Beach, so who cares? One negative is that the standard rooms, which we booked, are only average. They had tall ceilings but were otherwise not very big, had small bathrooms, and were just a bit dark and dreary. […] It's with upgrading if you can. Also, the parking garage is a walk up the drive and not directly connected, so some may prefer to use valet. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Awesome stay in the Royal Hawaiian"
All was great!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was lovely and the staff was most accommodating. There were only two downsides to the experience. First, we had three adults, so ordered a roll-away which made the room a bit cramped. If only two adults or a family of four, I think the room size is great. The other issue was that the alarm clock in the room kept going off at 6 am, even though […] no one in our party had set the alarm. "We truly felt like royalty!"
As a person who works primarily in customer service, my expectations are naturally set high. In no way am I a snob or feel at all entitled, I just know what it takes to create a memorable and valuable experience. The Royal Hawaiian experience begins even before you check in. It started as we drove off the main strip, passed the busy mall, passed the […] bustling driveway of another larger hotel and through a tucked away gate. It was as if you were transported to a secret hidden area away from the crowds of Waikiki. Then, peeking through the dark greenery is a bright pink palace that instantly puts a smile on your face. The Valet attendants were lined up to greet us, all with warm smiles. We felt welcomed and instantaneously we felt at home. The attendants also adorned us with Leis. Of all my trips to Hawaii, this was the first time I was greeted at a hotel with this tradition. I just thought that no one bothered with this anymore. As I write this I realize I am almost at capacity with the allowed length of my review. I think that I can write more than a few pages describing how amazing and gratifying my stay at Royal Hawaiian was. The service was impeccable. Robert our check in Representative and Monica our Hotel Ambassador both enriched our experience with their kind hospitality. Our room's ocean view was breathtaking and our private beach chairs felt like an oasis from the crowd. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Probably the most interesting hotel in Hawaii"
This intriguing, pink, almost Moorish-style hotel stands out from the high rise condo hotels on Waikiki. Centrally located on Waikiki, it is convenient for everything from the beach to restaurants and shops. The interior of the lobby area is tastefully decorated with painted ceilings, and old photographs of its heyday. Navigating the large lobby area […] and inter-joining rooms is another matter. In fact, trying to figure out which is the main entrance to the hotel is hard enough, since signage is non-existent. Reception is a simple affair of wooden desks which at first glance belies its central role. Staff are generally warm and helpful, although one does sense a little tourist weariness. Our room was a garden room so a budget room. The interior decor is probably on a par with the best of Best Westerns so a little disappointing. The bathroom fan wasn't working, the bathroom electrical socket had tripped, and one of the telephones wasn't working. Other than these few niggles, it was comfortable, clean and reasonably quiet. The bar and main restaurant are located right next to the beach so nothing gets more romantic than that in Waikiki. However, we had to clear our own table of empty glasses, and eventually gave up waiting for a waiter. A magical place but room for improvement. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
HIGH END AND OVERPRICED ESPECIALLY THE $35 DAILY HOTEL CHARGE AND THEN THEY HAD THE NERVE TO CHARGE FOR BEACH CHAIRS AND UMBRELLASGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hawaii is no doubt Paradise - The R H is one of the premier hotels - excessive pricing leaves it not for the average Joe - When you have to pay $40 to 140 for an umbrella and a chair or a cabana this seems a little excessive. "FOOD WAS DISAPPOINTING"
THE HOTEL IS BEAUTIFUL, BUT YOU WOULD EXPECT BETTER FOOD AT A 4-5 STAR LUXURY HOTEL. WE WERE UPGRADED FOR HALF THE PRICE TO AN OCEANFRONT WITH BALCONY - WHICH WE LOVED, HOWEVER THE ROOM ALWAYS HAD ANTS AT THE COFFEE MAKER, THE REFRIGERATOR DIDN'T WORK AND OUR FOOD SPOILED. BUT THE WORST THING WAS THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD - THE SALADS, FISH AND CHICKEN […] WERE THE SAME QUALITY AS A BOSTON MARKET - NO BETTER THAN AN APPELBEES OR DENNYS. THERE ARE MANY GREAT PLACES TO EAT AROUND THE HOTEL, BUT TRAVELING WITH AN 81-YEAR OLD MOM, I DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE TO LEAVE THE HOTEL EVERYDAY TO SEARCH FOR FOOD. THE FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGER NEEDS TO ASSESS THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD, ESPECIALLY THE PRODUCE FOR THE SALADS, AND THE CHICKEN AND FISH EXPERIENCE WAS HORRIFIC. I AM A HEALHTY EATER AND EXPECT A QUALITY THAT IS CONGRUENT WITH THE MONEY I AM PAYING TO STAY AT THAT HOTEL.. OVERALL EVERYTHING ELSE WAS FABULOUS. THE WAITRESSES AT THE MAI TAI BAR NEED A LESSON IN MANNERS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The grand lady is tired."
The Royal Hawaiian is still charming, but she is crammed between the shopping strip and shoulder to shoulder hotels on either side. Good luck finding her in the dark! There are so many one way streets you will find yourself driving in ever-widening circles before you end up at the bottom of the drive where she is hiding. The room was in the older part […] of the hotel…and there was old containers of restaurant food in the refrigerator, a broken shower head and shade pull. Three strikes and I had to speak up. The staff was very apologetic, and I was upgraded to a room in the tower, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. The daily resort fee, expensive food and "rental" fees for the privilege of sitting on a beach chair easily added another 30% to the cost. I'll stay elsewhere and do a walk-through next time. That's enough for me. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A Waikiki Classic"
This was my first stay in the older section of the hotel as opposed to the tower and also my first stay since the massive renovation several years ago. We had a great time here as always and I loved having the garden view. On Friday and Saturday nights it was a little loud due to music playing nearby, but it didn't last long and didn't prevent me from […] going to sleep. The breakfast that was included had many delicious options with big portions that kept us from being hungry at lunchtime. The pool service was also nice with attendants stopping by to offer ice water, cold towels, small smoothies and freshly cut pineapple wedges. "Our stay at "The Royal Hawaiian Hotel""
We have been staying at "The Pink Palace " since the 1980s and it has always been a wonderful experience. "Ocean on one side, top notch shopping on the other"
Loved our stay at the Royal Hawaiian! Located right in the center of Waikiki! Only downside was the resort fee didn't cover the things we wanted it to cover ..... "Best Hotel Ever!"
Even though this was not our first visit to Honolulu, this was our first time to stay at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, but will not be our last. When we say it was the best hotel ever, we mean just that. The atmosphere is quite different from any other place. The staff is friendly, helpful, courteous. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Any need you […] have, the hotel will meet if it is within their ability to do so. The Azure Restaurant is a 5-star restaurant. Room service food is equally superior--try their hamburgers and you'll never be sorry. We stayed 5 nights; wish it had been longer. The hotel is very convenient to Waikiki Beach (on it!), and very convenient to shopping and restaurants. Amenities abound. You will leave feeling pampered and appreciated. "Short Sheets and No Coffee"
Every night we had to ask the staff to replenish our in-room coffee. Not the best coffee in the world but it was a good first cup before we went down to breakfast - but not if they never give you two new packages when they clean the room each day. Bigger problem was the use of queen-size sheets on a king-size bed. On two occasions we got into bed to […] find the bottom sheet did not extend far enough to cover a well-used mattress pad.
