Beautiful colonial hotel with great service and location. In the center of Capetown, close to Table Mountain. A relaxing atmosphere after 30 hours of travel. Short cab ride to the port. Great precruise hotel.

From the moment we arrived, the staff at Mount Nelson gave us such personal attention, that we felt that we could have been the only guests at the hotel! The food was good, the location ideal for visiting Table Mountain, and it was an easy journey to and from the airport. The hotel rooms are comfortable, with modern ameneties, but the property still […] manages to convey a very historic feel to it. Although it is not on the waterfront, it is a quick trip there by taxi, and there are some great restaurants/cafes within an easy walk from the hotel. It is also very close to the Table Mountain cable car, which can be accessed via the two complimentary cars offered by the hotel. We were extremely impressed with our stay at the Mt. Nelson. Having visited 10 years ago we weren't sure what to expect. Well the Colonial elegance we remembered was still there (including high tea) but our room as well as the other facilities had been newly renovated. It was an unforgetable location for my wife and I to celebrate our anniversary!

Luxurious, historic and attractive traditional hotel, with superb pools and gardens, situated in a quiet, elevated position above the city. Peaceful and relaxing, away from the bustle, yet only five minutes drive to Waterfront, Table Mountain lift etc. We had an upgrade to a delightful, spacious room in the newly refurbished wing facing the main pool. Excellent […] breakfasts and light lunches in the Oasis restaurant / terrace. Well equipped gym. Service generally very good and unfaillingly friendly. The fairly formal Planet Restaurant was really excellent and good value. Our hire car was parked and fetched for us each time by the porters and parked securely in secure/shaded park. Stayed at Mount Nelson Hotel in December. The hotel was not full, in fact the gm told us they were about 50% full. Firstly the room was beautiful and overlooked the main gardens. The only problem was it was the room next to the elevator. Due to it being summer we had the AC on most of the time but it rattled in the night so we had to turn it off. On […] the first morning we were disappointed by the dirty French press coffee pot not cleaned by housekeeping. Also on our last nite we did not receive the turn down service so the room was not ready for sleeping when we returned from dinner. All in all it was ok but I have stayed in many 5 star hotels and this experience was underwhelming for the money. A pity as the staff are all very friendly and smiling. The gm only offered a trite apology for these inconveniences. Also the main pool had an unpleasant odour on day 1. The fantastic buffet breakfasts were great. Read more

Quite simply, The Nelly not only surpasses each and every one of them, but it now sets the bar so high that we doubt we will ever experience this level of quality until, as planned, we revisit - we cannot wait. This quality was apparent at every level, within every […] role at the hotel, in every aspect. If we had to single out anyone for special recommendation it would be Busi in the reception team. She put us at our ease from the moment we arrived until the very moment we departed. We were treated with the utmost respect, courtesy, and privacy - all those things that make any great hotel stay an absolute pleasure. We would recommend - and already have - The Nelly to our friends and family. We arrived late and were show around our rooms, I thought wenhadndiesmandgon to heaven. The attention to detail was superb and all the finishing touches, including putting fresh ice into the ice bucket in the rooms. If you,look at the screw in the hinges in the door they areall aligned.

Our bedroom was very comfortable but the bathroom was just not acceptable for a 5 star hotel. It was very small, tiles cracked and grubby stains on grouting around the bath and between tiles. My wife and I have just returned from the Mount Nelson. This excellent hotel has great facilities and even better staff. The grounds are beautiful and the two heated outdoor pools are first class. We were amazed by the quality of the food, particularly in the Planet restaurant which is at least the equal of any top restaurant in Cape Town or anywhere […] else for that matter. Our holiday was perfect from the welcoming glass of champagne on arrival to the late check out which hotel staff facilitated so that we could enjoy our stay right up until our departure for a late flight to Heathrow. The free transport to key locations was a real bonus and the hotel is less than five minutes safe walk from a number of excellent restaurants, including Nelson's Eye (steak), Miller's Thumb (fish) and Societi Bistro (french/italian)..all highly recommended. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff from the superb buffet breakfast to the turn down service at night and the Concierge staff are incredibly knowledgeable. We were really struck by the enthusiasm and pride shown by all staff when speaking about the hotel. Room was great and very spacious but my wife says a full length mirror would make it even better! This is one of the best (if not the best) hotel we've stayed in - everything about it was spot on, cleanliness, comfort and quality of service. The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive and they all remembered our name. They helped arrange trips for us eg winetasting, cape peninsula & robben island (once at very short notice). Food (Inc breakfast) […] was excellent and was very reasonably priced, as well as drinks. If you have chance Afternoon Tea there is a must (again reasonably priced). The only (very minor) downside is it's location because it's not amongst the main tourist area ie the V&A Waterfront. By far the best breakfast buffet I have ever seen, with a delicate equillibriance between a buffet and personal service on the most gorgeous terrace and garden. Auf der anderen Seite aber auchTagungen und Business. Das superior Zimmer (Nr.9) war ca 60 m² groß, das Bad (Dusche in der Wanne) dagegen mit 3-4 m² etwas eng. Das Telefon neben der Toilette fiel […] wegen der Enge ständig herunter. Andere Zimmer hatten allerdings deutlich größere Bäder. Ungeachtet dessen habe ich mich sehr wohl gefühlt; das Hotel ist ein "Muß" für einen Kapstadt Aufenthalt. Und natürlich die "Tea Time" wahrnehmen. Read more

In diesem Hotel kamen wir uns sogar wie Könige vor. Das ganze Personal sehr freundlich und absolut Dienstleistungsbereit. Sehr schöne Zimmer zum verweilen. Dazu eine grandiose Parkanlage. Sehr schöne Poolbereiche, leider etwas Verunreinigungen durch Enten könnten beseitigt werden.

Vi boede på Hotel Mount Nelson på vores bryllupsrejse og havde et helt fantastisk ophold der. Hotellet er renoveret for nylig men holdt i den gamle smukke kolonistil, der er kendetegnende for stedet. De ansatte er virkelig søde og hjælpsomme, servicen er på alle måder i top, værelserne dejlige og maden helt fantastisk. Ganske enkelt et fantastisk hotel!! Vi boede i et "superior room" med adgang til terrasse og have . Der var masser af plads i værelset til to personer. Hele hotellet er præget af service som "i gamle dage", og alt det personale vi mødte var meget imødekommende. Beliggenhed er også udemærket - det er altid muligt at få taxa på hotellet hvis man eks. […] ønsker at tage til V & A Waterfont (en tur på ca. 10 minutter udenfor myldretiden) - i dagtimerne har "City Hop on and off"-bussen stoppested lige udenfor hotellets hovedindgang.
