"not as advertised"
there was an attempted robbery during our stay. A person walked into the foyer, grabbed a guest's iPhone and iPad, and ran away. The guest ran after the robber, tackled him in the parking lot, and retrieved the belongings. Needless to say, the location of the hotel was very undesirable. We asked for extra towels to be delivered - waited two hours. Overall, […] disappointed in our stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A is for Amabassador"
1st trip to Milwaukee will not be my last nor will this stay at the Ambassador. Classic art deco architecture and large rooms, and right down the street from Marquette; one of the nation's most beautiful college campuses. Highly recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very disappointed that they would charge a fee for a mini fridge while there was a mini bar fridge that sat there practically useless. I would have taken out the drinks to make room for our food if there wasn't an "automatic charge." Late check out was far too early (noon). Was only in Milwaukee for a major triathlon event so to not be able to go back […] to our room to show was inconveniencing and frustrating. Other than that things were fine. "Average hotel way overpriced"
We were late making our lodging reservations and because of many events in the area this weekend all that was available was this hotel so we booked. We were initially hesitant driving through a questionable neighborhood to get there but were surprised to find a fairly elegant hotel lobby. But the room was in some disrepair...a broken door jam making […] it difficult to lock the door, a sagging sofa, poor water pressure, dirty shower. The hotel was way overpriced and they charge for a refrig. , they charge for parking $20/day and we found the waiters at the restaurant and bar to be less than friendly. Requests for different pillows from the pillow bar and clean linens for the sofa bed made first thing in the morning weren't filled until a repeat call was made late that night. The location ended up being ok as it was centrally located to other areas besides the downtown. Just an average hotel with overinflated prices! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I was in town to compete in the National Triathlon Age Group Championships. I was very disappointed with the small size of the room & the fact that there was no fridge. I paid $320 per night...no fridge. It would have cost an additional $20 for one...no thanks. The room, however, did include a mini-bar where the fridge should have been. Clearly, management […] is more interested in making more money than in including a basic fridge. Also, they would not give me a later check-out time unless I purchased a brunch package. So, again, more interested in getting even more money than in making me happy. I will never stay there again, nor would I recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Historic Hotel"
Nice hotel with original Art Deco style. Front desk staff was very helpful with restaurant recommendation for dinner. Room was clean and comfortable with huge TV. Only issues were blow dryer didn't work and pillows not comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was different than I expected. It does have an old building smell to it, but tge rooms are smell free. The prices for thier services were beyond over priced but I guess acceptable in thw city. I did think it was absurd that you pay for a room but they charge you 20$ for parking. Bedsheeta did not smell of fresh laundry but were in fact clean. […] It was decent but id be fine without going again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great shuttle service!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We loved the art deco lobby and the bar and cafe were both great and convenient. We also had a very spacious room and they are pet friendly (for a $50 fee). The location is not great but they do have a free shuttle that will take you anywhere. Parking is expensive at $20/night and the lobby has a very weird smell...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The shuttle service was just amazing!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A bit sketchy neighborhood around the hotel but not terrible. The hotel itself is beautiful and a fair price for a very nice room, one of the nicest I've stayed in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We could hear every word from the room next to us. I doubt I will go back. Never received my receipt.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our one night stay was awesome from the time we walked in, through checkout. Was at the Hilton Chicago week prior for work and their service was no where near the level you offer. Will stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Most uncomfortable beds"
The Queen beds are actually a Full size. I looked at several rooms. Also, the bed is against the wall or very close to it in most of the rooms, which makes it difficult to sleep 2 people. The mattresses were very clean, but extremely uncomfortable. No pillow top, just standard spring mattresses that sag.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet, relaxing night"
We checked in very late (12:30 AM), and the staff was very friendly. The room was extremely clean and neat. and well-organized. Our room featured a separate sink/makeup station that was handy for us to have both guests getting ready simultaneously. The air conditioner was not obtrusively noisy, and was hardly noticeable during the night. The room was […] extremely quiet, and we did not hear any other guests, or outside traffic/commotion during the night. We would definitely stay again, and would recommend the Ambassador. We stayed after a friend stayed previously. The hotel is down the street from the main downtown area - walkable, or a minute or two drive into the busier downtown area. "Great hotel ok location"
I very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Nice clean rooms, there is a pillow menu, and friendly staff. Only thing is that location wise it is a bit of a hike from downtown. Located directly next to Marquette's campus, it isn't by any means super far from downtown or anything. They do have a shuttle that drops you off at popular locations which is […] convenient but it stops running fairly early. I ended up just cabbing it back to the hotel after going out on Water and Brady sts, which are 2-3 miles away. I would definitely stay here again as it is a great value. "Convenient, Clean and Charming"
The hotel itself is a great Art Deco solidly-built hotel. When you walk inside, it feels like you are traveling back to a bygone era...in a really good way. The rooms are quiet and lovely, and the location of the hotel was perfect. It is away from the downtown area, but close enough that you can get there in minutes. My only negative was the ceiling […] in the bathroom over the tub needs a little repair work, and I found several hairs on the tile walls of the tub/shower. Other than that, I had a wonderful stay and would stay there again. And an added bonus - there's a small cafe on the 1st floor that serves Starbucks coffees and breakfast foods. My husband and I enjoyed the hotel very much. One elevator was not working but it did not present any inconvence. I highly recommend the Sunday Brunch. The food was delicious and offered at a great price. It was not located within walking distance to any sites but the shuttle service that the hotel offers is outstanding. "We loved the Ambassador Hotel!"
My husband and I were not familiar with Milwaukee and picked the Ambassador due to its proximity to Miller Park. We were very glad we did. Its a beautiful hotel, older but very well maintained. Rooms were very spacious and clean. If we visit Milwaukee again, we will definitely stay there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I really enjoyed staying at the hotel, the inside is VERY lovely, but I was a bit turned off by the surrounding neighborhood. We were bothered a few times while sitting in the outdoor area. Too many beggers interrupting my family time, wasn't very pleasant. I would recommend decreasing the parking lot fee. I think people will pay the $20 due to the […] sketchy neighborhood, but even at the Pfister hotel which is in the downtown area, I paid less for parking. The Ambassador Hotel is an old school art deco building. I liked the charm of the elevator doors with hinges. The room was lovely, and the personal greeting on the TV was nice. "Nice Historic Hotel"
Great hotel with the ambiance of when it was originally built. Only thing I did not like was parking is $20.00 a night. This should be built in the price of the room so there is no sticker shock upon arrival.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would not stay again"
I was not impressed with the Ambassador Hotel at all and I would not stay there again! Check in staff was rude and not very helpful and the hotel was a lot further from Summerfest/lake than implied.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Plenty of space for our group"
Overall we enjoyed the hotel. The art deco style was unique and there is a lot of details put in to decorating the rooms, such as the beautiful pedestal sink and tile work in the bathroom and the retro elevators. The rooms were large; we had two rooms for 9 ladies and we all fit comfortably in 1 room with 2 queens and a pullout and 1 room with a king […] and pullout. There isn't much around the hotel, but it was only a short cab ride away to the some nice areas. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The biggest down side to the rooms was that there was no refrigerator in the room, which I think is a very important amenity. The other issue was the parking garage. First of all it was $20 a night to park at the hotel, which I never saw any mention of anywhere. Second of all, there is a confusing ticket system with the parking garage, you have to keep your original ticket and then put in the ticket from the front desk, but there is no explanation at the gate or on the tickets so you can keep track of which is which and then the front desk was rather rude when we had difficulties. The front desk person was rather condescending and less than helpful. I don't get confused easily, but the whole garage experience left me frustrated. The other negative that we noticed was that one of the floors, since our rooms weren't together, had a stale cigarette smell, like it used to be a smoking floor. It wasn't a terrible smell in the rooms, but the hall was not pleasant. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"One of Our Favorites!"
The Ambassador is a marvelous gem just outside of the main hub of the city. This historical hotel has been renovated to offer all the amenities of a top hotel with spacious rooms, comfortable mattresses, top quality linens and products, and the big screen HD television made us feel as though we were watching a film in the theater. The hotel has the […] original art deco beauty perfectly melded with modern touches throughout, as though stepping into the 1920s, yet keeping one foot in the present. We've stayed there twice, and both times the staff was top notch and helpful. Our first visit was for a quick get-away for our anniversary, and when they discovered that, they upgraded us to a room with a whirlpool bath. This time, we had to wait a little to check in, and although the time really wasn't long at all, they waived our parking fee to thank us for being patient. Nice, unexpected touches. The location of the hotel isn't in an unsafe neighborhood, but not necessarily the downtown thrill, but it is actually much easier to get to anywhere from this hotel than trying to navigate downtown. It is close to the highway, a "hop, skip, and a jump" away from Miller Park, The Domes, and Potowanomi Casino, and a very short drive to the downtown area. We have never needed it, but they also have a free shuttle to take you downtown or to the locations, so you wouldn't need to drive anywhere if you didn't want to. Overall, any chance we get to stay in Milwaukee, this is our first choice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I heard that not all hotels charge for parking. But if it was only $20, that's probably reasonable. The free shuttle to the casino did not work. "Comfortable and convenient"
Our room was beautiful and much more than we expected. We had the shuttle take us to Miller Park. It would have been nice to have more shuttles available as lots of the guests were using this service and some had a long wait. Our only disappointment was the breakfast. The Envoy restaurant had loads of seating but only a very limited staff. We needed […] to wait to be seated as the hostess said they were too busy. Only 1 waiter and another lady who was doing dish pickup. 5 tables had customers. We were not offered more coffee and the check was brought to the table within a very short time after we started to eat. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I was very disapointed in our stay. We did not have a fitted sheet on our bed, just a plane sheet. When I spoke to the manager about it she could careless. While she did send a house keeper to change our sheets it made me wonder about the cleanliness of the hotel. Also the hotel was runing a shuttle to and from the baseball game, yet with over 100 ppl […] at the hotel that night for the game you would think they would run another shuttle. Nice hotel in a suspect part of town. Close to Downtown and Marquette U. Free shuttle makes a difference for those wanting to get around town without driving including trips to stadium for baseball. That being said don't be fooled by the low offer price. They charge a $20 a night parking fee in a nice and secure ramp. This is not clear and its not like […] you have an option. Service at front desk very good. Bartender service suspect.... attitude of some sort. Obviously not engaged employees and not happy about job. Rooms clean and adequate. "A step back in time!"
The thing I liked most about the hotel was the fact that the recently renovated it and brought it back to the original look and feel it had when built in the 30's. It felt very classy. Every employee was very friendly and helpful. One of the big perks we found was that it had a shuttle service. We can in from out of town to see a comedy show at the […] Riverside. Where ever we wanted to go all we had to do was talk to the shuttle service and they'd deliver us. When we were done all we did was call and they'd come get us. This was all included with our hotel stay. It allowed us to enjoy our selves without worrying about getting lost or how much we drank. I would stay there again when I return to Milwaukee. Staff was great. Excluding bathroom the room was fine. Bathroom was extremely cramped and close to unuseable with toilet right next to wall and door. Worse than European bathrooms. At $250 per night inc taxes plus $20 parking surcharge this was very overpriced.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Comfortable getaway for two"
While I wouldn't necessarily give the Ambassador a 4-star rating, it is definitely a very nice place to stay overall. My husband and I are a young military couple (meaning we're always on a tight budget lol) and this was a great deal for us :) The hotel is in the vicinity of Marquette University, but unfortunately abuts the beginnings of the ghetto. […] Being from Los Angeles, it's nothing we aren't used to, but when you see the outside of the building (a tall, slightly rundown brick facade) it can be a bit of a shock. The inside definitely delivers though, and the rooms were clean (albeit beginning to show some signs of aging) and comfortable. The front desk staff was very helpful, so no complaints there. The food was definitely lackluster. Wouldn't order room service if I were you.... especially because there are so many good eats all over the city :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room was very spacious and nicely decorated. The hotel is beautiful and the decor perfectly captures the period and age. The staff was very friendly and helpful. "Enjoy the period aesthetics"
I go here for the lovely period aesthetics especially in the lounge, elevators and dining areas. Everything was very nice- excellent, with one complaint: I was put in a handicap room (I'm not handicapped) without being told in advance or at check-in. I'm tall and the handicap showers are very uncomfortable, also the handicap room space/flow doesn't […] work for me. I understand they have to rent these rooms, but it should always be explained before hand, otherwise I feel deceived. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
