Very unique hotel. Good satisfaction of the room. Highly recommended.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel ok location"
I very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Nice clean rooms, there is a pillow menu, and friendly staff. Only thing is that location wise it is a bit of a hike from downtown. Located directly next to Marquette's campus, it isn't by any means super far from downtown or anything. They do have a shuttle that drops you off at popular locations which is […] convenient but it stops running fairly early. I ended up just cabbing it back to the hotel after going out on Water and Brady sts, which are 2-3 miles away. I would definitely stay here again as it is a great value. "Convenient, Clean and Charming"
The hotel itself is a great Art Deco solidly-built hotel. When you walk inside, it feels like you are traveling back to a bygone era...in a really good way. The rooms are quiet and lovely, and the location of the hotel was perfect. It is away from the downtown area, but close enough that you can get there in minutes. My only negative was the ceiling […] in the bathroom over the tub needs a little repair work, and I found several hairs on the tile walls of the tub/shower. Other than that, I had a wonderful stay and would stay there again. And an added bonus - there's a small cafe on the 1st floor that serves Starbucks coffees and breakfast foods. My husband and I enjoyed the hotel very much. One elevator was not working but it did not present any inconvence. I highly recommend the Sunday Brunch. The food was delicious and offered at a great price. It was not located within walking distance to any sites but the shuttle service that the hotel offers is outstanding. The service was outstanding […] and we highly recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"We loved the Ambassador Hotel!"
My husband and I were not familiar with Milwaukee and picked the Ambassador due to its proximity to Miller Park. We were very glad we did. Its a beautiful hotel, older but very well maintained. Rooms were very spacious and clean. If we visit Milwaukee again, we will definitely stay there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Art Deco and comfortable"
Good value for this landmark hotel. Service was excellent and room was beautiful. IMPORTANT: Please note it is an additional charge of $20 to keep your car in the lot overnight.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Special place with beautiful restoration"
We had a great time at the Ambassador Hotel - would highly recommend it for its comfort, luxury and incredible story - make sure to ask to speak to Ike in the restaurantGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I really enjoyed staying at the hotel, the inside is VERY lovely, but I was a bit turned off by the surrounding neighborhood. We were bothered a few times while sitting in the outdoor area. Too many beggers interrupting my family time, wasn't very pleasant. I would recommend decreasing the parking lot fee. I think people will pay the $20 due to the […] sketchy neighborhood, but even at the Pfister hotel which is in the downtown area, I paid less for parking. The Ambassador Hotel is an old school art deco building. I liked the charm of the elevator doors with hinges. The room was lovely, and the personal greeting on the TV was nice. I would have liked a heads up that the coffee shop was closing early for the holiday though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Historic Hotel"
Great hotel with the ambiance of when it was originally built. Only thing I did not like was parking is $20.00 a night. This should be built in the price of the room so there is no sticker shock upon arrival.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would not stay again"
I was not impressed with the Ambassador Hotel at all and I would not stay there again! Check in staff was rude and not very helpful and the hotel was a lot further from Summerfest/lake than implied.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Plenty of space for our group"
Overall we enjoyed the hotel. The art deco style was unique and there is a lot of details put in to decorating the rooms, such as the beautiful pedestal sink and tile work in the bathroom and the retro elevators. The rooms were large; we had two rooms for 9 ladies and we all fit comfortably in 1 room with 2 queens and a pullout and 1 room with a king […] and pullout. There isn't much around the hotel, but it was only a short cab ride away to the some nice areas. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The biggest down side to the rooms was that there was no refrigerator in the room, which I think is a very important amenity. The other issue was the parking garage. First of all it was $20 a night to park at the hotel, which I never saw any mention of anywhere. Second of all, there is a confusing ticket system with the parking garage, you have to keep your original ticket and then put in the ticket from the front desk, but there is no explanation at the gate or on the tickets so you can keep track of which is which and then the front desk was rather rude when we had difficulties. The front desk person was rather condescending and less than helpful. I don't get confused easily, but the whole garage experience left me frustrated. The other negative that we noticed was that one of the floors, since our rooms weren't together, had a stale cigarette smell, like it used to be a smoking floor. It wasn't a terrible smell in the rooms, but the hall was not pleasant. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"One of Our Favorites!"
The Ambassador is a marvelous gem just outside of the main hub of the city. This historical hotel has been renovated to offer all the amenities of a top hotel with spacious rooms, comfortable mattresses, top quality linens and products, and the big screen HD television made us feel as though we were watching a film in the theater. The hotel has the […] original art deco beauty perfectly melded with modern touches throughout, as though stepping into the 1920s, yet keeping one foot in the present. We've stayed there twice, and both times the staff was top notch and helpful. Our first visit was for a quick get-away for our anniversary, and when they discovered that, they upgraded us to a room with a whirlpool bath. This time, we had to wait a little to check in, and although the time really wasn't long at all, they waived our parking fee to thank us for being patient. Nice, unexpected touches. The location of the hotel isn't in an unsafe neighborhood, but not necessarily the downtown thrill, but it is actually much easier to get to anywhere from this hotel than trying to navigate downtown. It is close to the highway, a "hop, skip, and a jump" away from Miller Park, The Domes, and Potowanomi Casino, and a very short drive to the downtown area. We have never needed it, but they also have a free shuttle to take you downtown or to the locations, so you wouldn't need to drive anywhere if you didn't want to. Overall, any chance we get to stay in Milwaukee, this is our first choice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"One night business trip"
Hotel was close to Convention Center, also included shuttle service to around town. Very nice staff, clean room. Neighborhood not so great, but hotel secure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was very disapointed in our stay. We did not have a fitted sheet on our bed, just a plane sheet. When I spoke to the manager about it she could careless. While she did send a house keeper to change our sheets it made me wonder about the cleanliness of the hotel. Also the hotel was runing a shuttle to and from the baseball game, yet with over 100 ppl […] at the hotel that night for the game you would think they would run another shuttle. It was clear at the game what other hotels have better shuttle services and I will be booking with them next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel in a suspect part of town. Close to Downtown and Marquette U. Free shuttle makes a difference for those wanting to get around town without driving including trips to stadium for baseball. That being said don't be fooled by the low offer price. They charge a $20 a night parking fee in a nice and secure ramp. This is not clear and its not like […] you have an option. Service at front desk very good. Bartender service suspect.... attitude of some sort. Obviously not engaged employees and not happy about job. Rooms clean and adequate. "Comfortable getaway for two"
While I wouldn't necessarily give the Ambassador a 4-star rating, it is definitely a very nice place to stay overall. My husband and I are a young military couple (meaning we're always on a tight budget lol) and this was a great deal for us :) The hotel is in the vicinity of Marquette University, but unfortunately abuts the beginnings of the ghetto. […] Being from Los Angeles, it's nothing we aren't used to, but when you see the outside of the building (a tall, slightly rundown brick facade) it can be a bit of a shock. The inside definitely delivers though, and the rooms were clean (albeit beginning to show some signs of aging) and comfortable. The front desk staff was very helpful, so no complaints there. The food was definitely lackluster. Wouldn't order room service if I were you.... especially because there are so many good eats all over the city :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room was very spacious and nicely decorated. The hotel is beautiful and the decor perfectly captures the period and age. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel's in a good location to enjoy the city...within minutes of everything we wanted to see. We would definitely go back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Enjoy the period aesthetics"
I go here for the lovely period aesthetics especially in the lounge, elevators and dining areas. Everything was very nice- excellent, with one complaint: I was put in a handicap room (I'm not handicapped) without being told in advance or at check-in. I'm tall and the handicap showers are very uncomfortable, also the handicap room space/flow doesn't […] work for me. I understand they have to rent these rooms, but it should always be explained before hand, otherwise I feel deceived. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice Hotel - Loud Neighbors"
Very nice hotel. I would stay again. The only thing wrong was some excessive party-goers throughout the hotel and specifically on my floor. They went on and on until around 4:30AM. Nice hotel that is a nice experience overall. I believe that the late night party was more of a aberration than an every night deal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The entire experience was simply ok. The rooms weren't ready (over an hour we waited) at the check in time which was incredibly inconvenient. Luckily, I was there for a bachelor party and did not spend much time at the hotel. Had I been there for any other occasion I feel my view of the hotel would have been worse. I am pretty sure the parking situation […] is a scam. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Spent the night here for my husband's birthday. Staff at the desk was very friendly. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Free shuttle to our downtown restaurant was an added bonus! Picked us up when we were finished within 10 minutes. That was such a great amenity that we didn't even know was offered. Parking was pricey ($20 for 1 overnight). But […] other than that it was perfect. Would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel -- BAD NEIGHBORHOOD"
The hotel appears to be a nicely renovated older building. The renovations make for a very pleasant stay. The restaurant and bar are both very nice. The neighborhood is quite questionable. The Hotel.com website lists it as a downtown hotel -- it is not downtown. You can see the downtown skyline from the hotel, but its a ways off. Also, when I checked […] I learned that there is a $20/night parking charge which was not indicated when I made the reservation. For those interested in staying in the same neighborhood where the infamous serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer lived.... you might enjoy the neighborhood just fine. That's right, he lived exactly 1 mile from the Ambassador Hotel... kind of creepy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Ambassador Hotel-Close to Miller Park"
Stayed in MKE for opening day at Miller Park. The Ambassador was our choice. It has a lot of history and is very charming, however is in a slightly "rough" neighborhood despite being so close to Marquette University. We were able to check in early, which was very convienient. . The only thing that turned me off was that the bathroom toilet had not been […] cleaned properly and there was a big stain on the side of the mattress and a stain on the wallpaper. They had a free shuttle (however it was late picking us up). After the game, we came back to the hotel for drinks and dinner in the pub. The bartender Andrew was very inattentive. We had to wait 20 minutes to be served and had to actually ask for drinks, when there were only approx. 14 people in the bar. We had to ask for a menu, in which he replied "you only have 18 minutes left to order." I also had to ask for refills on our drinks which had been empty for quite some time. He kept his back turned to us the majority of the time, stapling papers and doing other paperwork, never checking on us.We nicely confonted him about his poor service, in which he replied "sorry and thanks for letting me know." If i had a customer who was unsatisfied, I'd get my manager or supervisor who had the authority to right my wrong. At least a round of drinks would've been decent. Despite the poor service, the food and drinks were tasty. We had to pay $20 for overnight parking in the garage. It would've been nice if this was included in our stay. "everything was great other than cable and loud"
The rooms were super clean and spacious. Great customer service! However the cable went out multiple times to the point that basically we couldn't even watch tv and we could hear everything in the room next to us. (Not sure if they were just really loud or if the walls were very thin)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what I expected"
Room key didn't work multiple times, sheets didn't fit bed so at one point I was sleeping on a bare mattress-- and there was no hot water when I took a shower in the morning -- for about an hour, no hot water. I definitely won't stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall, very nice. The room was very small. It felt like a large dome room. Most disappointing was no hot water!!!Genuine Expedia guest review

From the outside you would not expect it but it is a very beautiful hotel. The inside is very nice and all staff was beyond friendly and helpful. "Hold on account and parking"
Great hotel, great location and great staff. I did not and was not aware of the 60 dollar hold on arrival and check it, although it was retuned within 5 days. Parking also 20 dollars which is added to your card, did not know that but other than that great, clean and nice hotel! Spacious rooms and very nice!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Art deco and a bit quirky."
Quaint and charming, once you get inside. Not located downtown, but they have a free shuttle service to downtown attractions. The neighborhood doesn't have much going on. $20 per day/night to park in the hotel garage. Ouch! The room was spacious and attractive. The staff was attentive. They did let us run out of toilet paper, but brought 2 rolls right […] away and apologized when we called. It would have been better to have a mini fridge than a minibar. The toilet seat was very small, and something that should have been cleaned after our first night wasn't. In the wardrobe, there was 1 robe, not 2. So I told the front desk so we wouldn't be charged for a missing robe. Ours was a corner room with a blah view of the street. The food was good but pricey at the restaurant and cafe. We saw 2 couples dressed in 1920's style dining one evening. Note: It's an old building with some odd noises (pipes?) that reminded me of faraway trombones playing. But I still slept fine. 6 pillows on the bed and a pillow menu! I would stay again, but only if we found a good deal. Would not pay $300 per night! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Historic and Beautiful"
My stay at The Ambassador Hotel was amazing. I am originally from Milwaukee and needed a place to stay while I was visiting. The Ambassador is known around town as a haunted hotel and I had always wondered what it was like when I was a kid and would attend concerts at the Rave (which is right across the street). My room was beautiful and the bed was […] amazingly comfortable. The interior of the hotel is astounding. I would definitely stay here again. "A Fine Hotel with One Big Flaw!"
The only complaint I have is about the loud frenetic jazz music. I have stayed at this hotel on four different visits to Milwaukee. It's my hotel of choice -- located between the East Side and Wauwatosa. However, the music is generally irritating and infuriating. There is other music for the art deco period.Genuine Expedia guest review
