Staff was very friendy, basic king room was very much larger than most, nice toiletries provided...it's where I'll always stay in MKE. And very resonably priced.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Home away from home"
This hotel not only had excellent courteous employees, spacious clean rooms, a shuttle service, the food is amazing too. I stayed in 3 hotels while visiting Milwaukee and this by far is my favorite one. I will always use Ambassador hotel when visiting.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Refreshing - not your "Chain" hotel!"
I had booked our hotel on line for Marquette Family weekend, Oct. 2014. The Ambassador is a beautiful 1920 Art Deco Style hotel with many of the original decor. The elevator doors were our favorite piece of working art, they are just so interesting and beautiful. The hotel is well kept and adds to a very unique experience, we have not stayed in a hotel […] like that in a long time. We usually stay in "chain" hotels with a well established reputation with traditional decor... seems boring now. Since this is the one and only Ambassador Hotel... we took a chance and loved how charming it was, and how big the rooms were. The bathrooms were small but that is how they were built in the 20's. My husband and I enjoyed coming back to the hotel after our time at Marquette and stopped in the bar to enjoy a drink, very nice experience. The Brunch was spectacular - it is a sit down style and the wait staff brings you two choices at a time, you can order as many times as you like and the food was always warm, fresh and delishes. The only bad part was you need to make reservations and no one mentioned that when we checked in, that would be good information to share. We asked the hostess how long a wait and she was unsure and said there was one family in front of us. She asked us to wait and then proceeded to seat 3 people without reservation in front of us. I had to then had to ask again and then stand in front of the hostess station until she sat our party of 3. That was very pleasant. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I came to Milwaukee to spend a three-day weekend with my daughter who attends Marquette University. This hotel's location couldn't have been any better. I could walk to the school with no problem.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very clean, but queen rooms were smaller than expected. Walls were thin, but the decor is niceGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"We'll (likely) go back, but we may shop around"
Third or fourth time here; love the vibe of the place; staff is great; shuttle is very convenient. On the down side: $20 a night for parking is way too steep; our room could have used a little bathroom maintenanceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was beautiful, only one small glitch that was rectified immediately.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Art Deco hotel"
Nice place. 4 minutes from downtown. Only complaint: it very flexible on late checkouts ("we charge an extra day after 12 p.m.").Genuine Hotels.com guest review
we were stuck from the Chicago fiasco and our flight was cancelled so instead of continuing to Chicago we stayed in Milwaukee for the night. The hotel is beautiful old time luxury. The lobby and the elevators were a throw back to the 1900's .Staff were friendly and very helpful. we highly recommend it !Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not the best / Not the worst"
Overall this hotel was nice, just a few issues I had with one of the staff members who got annoyed with me because I asked her if she worked at the hotel and if she knew where the person at the front desk was coming back? I seemed to bother her that I was interrupting what she was doing. Also, the bed in my room was terrible. Very lumpy my back is still […] killing me and I usually don't have issue with my back. If you like to work out the fitness center is not one to brag about not very clean either. Be prepared to pay for everything including $20 for parking each day. Extremely good Service, Extremely friendly and helpfull staff, Incredible location, Excellent eestaurant.Genuine Expedia guest review
We were greeted by an exceptional friendly staff – the hotel is old but very well cared for, if fact, it was charming. The downside is, the location of the hotel is not in the best area – and the shuttle service was not dependable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and nice hotel. Love the architecture."
I usually stay in the downtown area but the distance was not a problem. Clean and nicely updated room.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is very nicely remodeled with modern conveniences but the original art deco architecture was kept intact. My only complaint is that the tub in our room did not drain effectively. By the time I finished a shower, there was ankle deep water in the tub. The king size bed was comfortable, the room was large and had a nice sitting area. The restaurant […] and bar were both good. The neighborhood was a little sketchy. I wouldn't have felt comfortable walking alone in the area. Overall, a nice hotel and I would definitely go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Slow draining bathtub"
A few friends and I stayed here for my bachelor party. Pros: the room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the place was easy to find. Cons: The tub drain was clogged and drained very slowly. I didn't bother reporting to maintenance since we were only staying a couple nights and didn't want someone in the room with our belongings […] when we were gone. Also, even though our booking led me to believe a fridge was in the room, it was actually an extra $20 to have a fridge for our stay. Instead, we dumped ice in one of the sinks to keep our beverages cold. Parking is $20/night, but don't park in the structure until you're actual parking overnight since apparently you're charged $20 each time you leave. Park in the surface lot if you're just coming/going during the day. The neighborhood is somewhat sketchy. They don't offer roll-away beds or cots for extra people. Overall: this is a nice hotel that puts you somewhat close to downtown (not walking distance). It's pretty expensive all things considered, so next time I'll find somewhere a little closer to downtown or in a better area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
comfortable rooms; nice housekeeping staff; coffee shop hours should be expanded... from 6:30a-2:30pm to 6am-4pm perhaps... I think it's ridiculous that they charge for parking... I mean, the hotel is not 'downtown'; in fact, it's on the edge of a rough side of town. Dinner Server Jae was attentive, knowledgeable, personable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Had an enjoyable weekend in Milwaukee. Make sure to try out the neighborhoods as well as downtown. I will most certainly coming back and plan to stay at the Ambassador as well.Genuine Expedia guest review
"First visit to Milwaukee"
We were recommended to the hotel by friends. They did an OUTSTANDING job for us. It was a very nice hotel. Staff was excellent and rooms were very clean and comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was very nice! Staff was awesome and very helpful! Very clean also!Genuine Expedia guest review
Nice place, good staff, good bed, had a shuttle to travel to and from most areas close by. They did charge $20 a night to park.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Love this place!! Great rooms, great staff, lovely lobby area. Also has a Starbucks!!! Very convenient location for me for business as it is centrally located.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Classic Hotel. Modern Comforts"
Everyone who writes that this hotel is "old", misses the whole point. The minute you pull into the car port you're transported back to the "roaring 20s". From the big band music playing in the hallways to the old style elevator, you feel like you're going to run into Howard Hughes around the corner at any moment. The hotel was built in 1927 (I think) […] and yet you have all the amenities of a modern Hyatt or Hilton. Really cool experience. Excellent service. Close to downtown, the lakefront, and Miller Park. Our only complaint would be the neighborhood wasn't the best. Other than that, we'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel close to everything"
We booked a deluxe king room and were very pleased with the accommodations. The room was spotless, lots of pillows, and a very comfortable bed. We were on the 8th floor and had a great view of downtown and Lake Michigan in the distance. We also enjoyed the quality toiletries and bathrobes! Even the in-room coffee was really good! Although we drove, […] we used the free shuttle several times to explore the city. For those who drive, there is ample overnight parking in the new parking garage, plus plenty of space in the surface lot. The city bus also runs right in front of the hotel. The fitness room had four different machines plus two weight stations, and the business center was right off the lobby. The bar had nightly specials, the coffee shop had delicious breakfast sandwiches, and the dinner in the dining room was excellent and reasonably priced. Every employee we encountered was very friendly and helpful. The special welcome from the manager was a nice surprise, and the coffee shop attendant not only remembered that we had been in the day before, but remembered our order! All in all, we loved this hotel and can't wait to go back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent in every way."
This was our second stay at The Ambassador and we will definitely be staying again. The beds are amazing, the food outstanding, the quality of service hard to equal, let alone beat! To a person, everyone we met and dealt with was strikingly warm, friendly, welcoming and helpful (Front desk, wait staff, housekeeping). "Business trip in Milwaukee"
I booked this hotel to be closer to the Milwaukee airport after a business trip in a neighboring town. Online, the hotel looked very nice...which it was (on the inside). As i pulled up to the hotel, however, I had the realization that I was in a very rough neighborhood. Hotel "offers" parking for $20/night. I use the word "offers" loosely, because A) […] there is very limited public parking around the hotel and B) because I had a feeling that my car would be on cement blocks if I didn't park in the hotel's private parking lot (which is fenced in and monitored). The room itself was very nice, and relatively up to date. The bathroom was a little on the small side. View from the room was of low-income housing building across the street. Overall, the hotel room itself was nice, but I'm not sure if I would want to stay in that neighborhood again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely hotel and staff"
This old hotel has been renovated beautifully, from the large screen TV in room, comfy bed, excellent WiFi, lobby, bar, dining room, everything. I also really like that it is an independent not part of a chain. All staff I dealt with were friendly helpful and professional. I will stay nowhere else in Milwaukee when there on business.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"not as advertised"
there was an attempted robbery during our stay. A person walked into the foyer, grabbed a guest's iPhone and iPad, and ran away. The guest ran after the robber, tackled him in the parking lot, and retrieved the belongings. Needless to say, the location of the hotel was very undesirable. We asked for extra towels to be delivered - waited two hours. Overall, […] disappointed in our stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wonderful historic hotel."
Beautiful Hotel. Not the best neighborhood but there is no reason to leave. Fabulous restaurant and I am a food snob. Starbucks on site. Secure parking. Hotel is on the historic register beautifully maintained, clean and friendly. Our room was large, the beds extremely comfortable, didn't like your pillow call down for a different type. I will definitely […] be back one of my new favorites. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A is for Amabassador"
1st trip to Milwaukee will not be my last nor will this stay at the Ambassador. Classic art deco architecture and large rooms, and right down the street from Marquette; one of the nation's most beautiful college campuses. Highly recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very disappointed that they would charge a fee for a mini fridge while there was a mini bar fridge that sat there practically useless. I would have taken out the drinks to make room for our food if there wasn't an "automatic charge." Late check out was far too early (noon). Was only in Milwaukee for a major triathlon event so to not be able to go back […] to our room to show was inconveniencing and frustrating. Other than that things were fine. "Average hotel way overpriced"
We were late making our lodging reservations and because of many events in the area this weekend all that was available was this hotel so we booked. We were initially hesitant driving through a questionable neighborhood to get there but were surprised to find a fairly elegant hotel lobby. But the room was in some disrepair...a broken door jam making […] it difficult to lock the door, a sagging sofa, poor water pressure, dirty shower. The hotel was way overpriced and they charge for a refrig. , they charge for parking $20/day and we found the waiters at the restaurant and bar to be less than friendly. Requests for different pillows from the pillow bar and clean linens for the sofa bed made first thing in the morning weren't filled until a repeat call was made late that night. The location ended up being ok as it was centrally located to other areas besides the downtown. Just an average hotel with overinflated prices! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hidden charges, $20 per night to park your car"
Hugely uncomfortable bed, lots of blankets and AC wouldn't go below 70 f struggled to get cool enough to sleep, was upset with hidden car park charge $20 / nite and at over $200 a nite it felt very overpriced.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was in town to compete in the National Triathlon Age Group Championships. I was very disappointed with the small size of the room & the fact that there was no fridge. I paid $320 per night...no fridge. It would have cost an additional $20 for one...no thanks. The room, however, did include a mini-bar where the fridge should have been. Clearly, management […] is more interested in making more money than in including a basic fridge. Also, they would not give me a later check-out time unless I purchased a brunch package. So, again, more interested in getting even more money than in making me happy. I will never stay there again, nor would I recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was friendly and the hotel has character. Unfortunately, there was black mold growing in the shower and the bottom of the shower curtain was dirty (aren't they supposed to be changed between guests). The wallpaper was peeling and the room didn't feel clean. I also did not enjoy paying for parking.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Decent hotel, not the greatest location in town."
Hotel was nice and met expectations, shuttle service will get you to where you want to go in town, you may or may not get picked back.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Historic Hotel"
Nice hotel with original Art Deco style. Front desk staff was very helpful with restaurant recommendation for dinner. Room was clean and comfortable with huge TV. Only issues were blow dryer didn't work and pillows not comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was different than I expected. It does have an old building smell to it, but tge rooms are smell free. The prices for thier services were beyond over priced but I guess acceptable in thw city. I did think it was absurd that you pay for a room but they charge you 20$ for parking. Bedsheeta did not smell of fresh laundry but were in fact clean. […] It was decent but id be fine without going again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great shuttle service!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We loved the art deco lobby and the bar and cafe were both great and convenient. We also had a very spacious room and they are pet friendly (for a $50 fee). The location is not great but they do have a free shuttle that will take you anywhere. Parking is expensive at $20/night and the lobby has a very weird smell...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
