"Worth the money"
I would definitely return to this hotel. The location was central to the area we were visiting. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was well-stocked and fresh.Genuine Expedia guest review
Nice, cozy hotel and attentive staff. Very nice reception with wine and cheese and fruit and a complimentary bottle of champagne in the room. However the only downside was that it was raining the morning after our arrival and the hotel wasn't equipped with adequate space to accommodate all of their guest to have breakfast at the same time. It was actually […] a bit ridiculous. My 76 old mother had to carry her food on a tray to her room to have breakfast because there was no dry table to sit at for any of the guests. It was nice but slightly over priced for the location and the over all experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel is on a very busy street and is very noisy early in the morning with cars heading to freeway entrance. Bed was very soft / saggy!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very pleasant stay"
It was great. The only thing negative is that the housekeeping changed our linens when we indicated that we didn't want them to be changed. Many hotels let this happen. The staff needs to understand the purpose of the policy and follow through. Otherwise this is a wonderful hotel with excellent service. The breakfast and snacks throughout the day were […] well appreciated. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Amazing Gem of a Hotel"
The only thing negative I can say about this place is that I am SO sorry I did not stay here on any of my previous stays in Santa Barbara! We absolutely loved this hotel. The service from the staff was amazing and the accomodations were beyond belief. They host complimentary wine/cheese hours, milk and cookie hours, there was a regular size bottle of […] champagne in the room and they also provide bikes for their guests use -- ALL at no charge. The breakfast was a basic continental breakfast but all of the food was fresh and delicious. Fresh fruit is available all day. And then the hotel itself. Adorable courtyard for guests to sit out and relax in, beautiful pool and just a couple of blocks from the beach. Ideally located and as you can see I recommend this hotel highly. You will NOT be disappointed! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Well worth a stay here!"
Great place to stay! Close walk to the beach, Stearns wharf, State St and numerous restaurants. Free bikes, breakfast, cheese fruit and wine and warm cookies and milk at bedtime! Champagne or sparkling apple juice on arrival and free DVD movies, even new releases and a large selection. Clean pool with cushioned chairs. Front desk folks are all friendly […] and extremely helpful! Comfy beds. Got upgraded to a suite with a kitchen. Free parking. Great stay, thanks for the nice time. Perfect for my husband and I for a relaxing getaway. Took the amtrak. Walked about half a mile, checked in, grabbed a few bikes, and headed to the beach. Great location, friendly, helpful staff. Can't wait to go back. Champagne in room , that they will change for something non acholic if desired.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice experience"
The hotel was really lovely and they had a very nice cheese and wine reception in the early evening, which was a pleasant surprise. The rooms were spacious and clean and had nice light coming in from the courtyard. The continental breakfast was okay, not amazing. You do have to drive from there to town but it is very close by.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel for anyone visiting Santa Barbara."
The rooms are beautifully decorated. We moved to this hotel after staying one night in a much more "upscale" B&B that was extremely noisy. The Lavender in was quiet. Sachets of lavender were placed on the pillows. Bed comfortable...linens beautiful. The bathroom looked like it was recently tiled. Very clean. They offered a continental breakfast. Good […] coffee and a great chocolate croissant were among the offerings. I hated to leave. My husband and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who would like a restful stay in Santa Barbara. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"We had the best time!"
Lovely inn a block from the ocean, free 4-hour bike rentals, friendly helpful staff (especially Danny - GREAT restaurant recommendation!)... beautiful clean room with delicious lavender products, free bottle of champagne, pool and hot tub, tons of free movie rentals. Such a relaxing trip, I will definitely be back here!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming little inn"
Charming little inn with many thoughtful touches: a champagne welcome (I'm 8 months pregnant; they let us trade our champagne bottle in for sparkling cider); good free hotel breakfast; wine and cheese in the afternoon; cookies and milk at night. The heated pool is beautiful, the hot tub area is surrounded by vines so feels very secluded. The inn is […] on a busier street than we'd expected, but it is still very quiet and night (and perhaps, given that it is one block from the beach, we should have expected it to be a busy street!) As other reviewers have noted, it could use a little updating, and I'm not sure it is worth the $250/night we paid (if you're not going to take advantage of the pool/snacks/bikes/etc., it might make more sense to stay at one of the more budget-friendly hotels in the same block - it's a strip of hotels/inn/motels), but it was a lovely little inn with very nice, helpful staff and we enjoyed our stay very much. Very nice queen size room with a fridge, nice TV, and complimentary bottle of Champagne. Also included was wine and cheese hour in the Lobby as well as milk and cookies in the evening. Great continental breakfast also! All included!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Found this place on line, and was pleasantly surprised. It was a lovely place. Felt like a B & B. Room a little small, but very cozy and nice. Loved the added touches that made it like a B & B. "Hotel Close to Beach"
Best things: 2 blocks from the main pier, good quality furnishing and finishes in the rooms, reasonable breakfast with cereals, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, pastries, juices. We booked a group of rooms for a family event, and a suite came in very handy, with a separate small kitchen area with table, chairs, and counter tops, as well as extra space and […] furniture to allow a group cocktail hour. Negatives; indoor seating at breakfast is limited to 4-5 persons. Since it was raining, many guests took breakfast back to their rooms. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
A great place to stay. Very friendly staff and very close to the beach. The bicycles were very helpful to go around the townGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to the sea"
The inn was pretty, very close to the sea and a great location. The room we were out in could've used a bit more upkeep. The free breakfast was not great. Plan on eating elsewhere, unless sugary pastries are your idea of breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place for a quiet getaway!"
We loved the Lavender Inn! So clean and comfortable and with a friendly staff (and WiFi in the room!). The location is prime, just a few blocks from the beach. We walked to Stearns Wharf for dinner and then took a short cab ride to downtown. I see others on here complaining about noise of the hotel but honestly I don't know what they're talking about. "Great place to stay in Santa Barbara"
Stayed here on a trip up the coast for our honeymoon. Probably the best hotel we stayed at (out of 5 different hotels). Everything was clean and nice, and the front desk staff was very pleasant as well. The best part, however, was all the little perks: Milk and cookies, wine and cheese, complimentary champagne, lavender on the pills. Great location […] as well in Santa Barbara. "Lots of nice touches"
Nice staff, very helpful. Beautiful room, but a bit cramped (was there for bike race, so I had my bike and lots of my stuff in the room, plus my boyfriend and all of his stuff). Big, spacious shower--fits two comfortably, but big shower appears to be at the cost of having area to spread out toiletries beside sink (that counter is in adjacent room, between […] bathroom and closet). Loved the robes, the lavender potpourri bags on bed, the complimentary champagne. Beautiful jacuzzi area: wonderful to relax in while gazing up at surrounding flowers and greenery, and experience was not diminished by the foggy weather that day. Walls seemed pretty soundproof (or maybe we were just surrounded by quiet guests). Overall, liked this hotel better than its sister lodging Inn by the Harbor. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"This is not near the beach"
It was a mile walk to the beach from a hotel located on a busy, loud street. If that isn't bad enough, downtown is also more than an hour away. If that isn't bad enough, the mattress was extremely soft with a hole big enough in the middle that we both rolled into it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Lavender Inn by the Sea The Lavender Inn by the Sea is located 2 blocks from Santa Barbara’s Harbor and West Beach and a mere 5 blocks to State Street. Many of our guests enjoy the use of our complimentary beach cruisers to explore the heart of downtown and many of our beautiful parks and beaches. We hope you are able to enjoy the proximity of our hotel during your next visit to Santa Barbara.
I loved this hotel. I would stay here again. Not far from the beach and sites. Easy to find. Big, clean room with great decor. Grounds and building well kept. Nice touches. Great cheese/wine and milk/cookies and continetal breakfast. Nice and cozy and great staff!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Would highly recommend."
My room was clean and nicely remodeled including a beautifully tiled bathroom. (Even the grout was clean!) The front desk ladies were all very pleasant and helpful. The complimentary in-room bottle of champaign and bottles of water were a wonderful and appreciated touch. The continental breakfast had plenty to choose from including hard boiled eggs, […] fresh fruit, pastries and an assortment of cereal/granola. (Oh and orange juice if you wanted to use the champaign for Mimosas). Wine and cheese in the later afternoon and cookies and milk in the evening....what more could you ask for? In addition they provide free parking and free wi-fi. There is also a small patio and lots of flowers everywhere. The room is a little bit small, but really, you're in Santa Barbara, how much time will spend in your room anyway? It's sufficient for one or two people. I would definitely stay here again. "Quaint, and close to everything..."
Overall it was pretty much what I would have thought. Nice, older but well kept. Bed was probably the best I have ever slept in! Sheets were maybe not wide enough, or not tucked in well, but very comfortable mattress. Bathroom can use a better stand or shelf for personal toiletries &/or gear. Nice soaps and shampoo, etc. Food (free) was better on weekend, […] and kind of was "picked over left over" stuff for Monday morning departure... Very small room. Fan didn't work right. Light went off without warning. Door had to be slammed shut it. Front desk seemed unaware of what was going on at the pool. Spa was a joke. "A Hidden Gem"
We booked this hotel based on the reviews on hotels.com and I'm so glad we did. From the moment we checked in we were looked after as one of the family. We booked the larger suite that has a separate sitting room. There was a bottle of complementary champagne in the fridge and every evening Carol on reception would bake cookies for guests to help themselves. […] Complimentary wine, cheese and biscuits were also on offer in the afternoon. The pool was heated and clean. The comprehensive continental breakfast was good. Though seating Is slightly limited and the bed was so comfortable. All in all the best place we stayed throughout our vacation. Thank you hope to be back again soon. "Great Comfort and Location"
Because our train from San Diego to Santa Barbara was delayed over one hour, the Enterprise car rental, located downtown, had already closed, and we were to be without a rental car for the weekend. The Inn was about a 10-minute walk from the Train Station. As a 60+year old couple, with weekender roller suitcases, it was an EASY walk. We were very pleased […] with our weekend stay at the Lavender Inn. We were very well received by a very pleasant receptionist. The lobby was pretty and cozy. The aroma of cookies baking in the oven was wonderful. The breakfast bar was simple and very satisfying. Our room was attractive, very clean, well appointed, and we slept very comfortably in our bed. We had access to their sister hotel across the street for their pool, their movie rentals, and their fitness facility. Although small, their fitness room was supplied with working equipment. The Inn was close to the beach and park areas, bike rentals and local transportation around town. Downtown’s State Street was about a 15-20 minute walk; not bad, considering we had no car. However, if you prefer to stay close to the Inn, there were a few good eateries close by, a market, and a 7-11 just a couple minutes away. It was a great value for its location and comfort. "Convenient location without the high price tag."
Good location - a few blocks from the beach and State Street. Room was clean and spacious for a single. Not a full-service hotel - exercise room, late night front desk service are at the sister hotel across the street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved the older feeling of the room and buildings. The older lady who was working the night we stayed could have been a bit more pleasant. I am sure she was really busy, but she didn't crack a smile once and seemed very harried.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place for seeing Santa Barbara"
A nice place, close to everything, and since its part of a 'group' you can trade the Lavander for a less flowery experience ... worked for usGenuine Expedia guest review

"cozy & convenient"
The room was small for the price, but comfortable and convenient to the beach and town center. We enjoyed the breakfasts on the patio, as well as the afternoon wine & cheese and evening cookies.
