"Not a hotel but an Inn"
This place is overpriced. The rooms were humid and smelled bad. Location is great though. For slightly higher price, I would stay in Hyatt or Kimpton.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Price was a bit above our budget but we thought it was worth it due to the free breakfast (really great) and complimentary bike rentals! We also got a complimentary champagne bottle in our fridge and wine+cheese at the lobby in the afternoon :)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Carol & Lilly were great!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was perfect for us, location was great, beautiful rooms, maybe a little on the small side, a breakfast area or could take back to your room (included in price) and little things like, wine and biscuits, in the late afternoon, hot drinks and cookies in the evenings and free bike hire. I certainly would recommend this accommodation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Walk to the harbor!"
The welcome bottle of champagne was a nice touch. The location was excellent. We walked to the harbor and had lunch and dinner there and on the wharf. Perfect central place to visit all of Santa Barbara and surrounding areas. We drove through beautiful mountains to Solvang, a Scandinavian town. We took a very interesting tour of the beautiful Santa […] Inez mission. After our busy days, we returned to our hotel and fresh, hot home made cookies. The bed was wonderful. Room 16 is awesome and huge! This room faces the pool and is really quiet. This surprised me and my husband because it is on a relatively busy street. Room 16 doe not have a room above it and the walls are well insulated. Some of the staff was more friendly than others but they knew their jobs and would give recommendations when you asked for them. […] The rooms smelled of lavender which was nice and relaxing. One morning our air conditioner was dripping and when we let the front desk know about of it, it was taken care of immediately. A bit older but extremely well maintained property. All staff members for our 3 day stay were great. Easy to walk to State Street, wharf & ocean. Plenty of off street parking.Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff was very courteous and helpful. The continental breakfast was good, as well as the wine and cheese offering, and the cookies at the appointed hours. I booked 'a room overlooking the garden' which was rather misleading, and disappointing. All rooms overlooked the garden, which turned out to be a small swath of land (about 15 feet), beyond which […] was the parking lot and a fairly busy street. The room was nicely decorated and the bathroom especially lovely. The bed, however, was way too soft. Although the staff added a board beneath the mattress at our request, a good night's sleep was not to be had for me or my partner. As such, I left tired and with a troublesome backache. "within a short walk to the heart of activities"
The hotel staff are the best!!! From the beginning of our stay they made us feel at home. I can't say enough good things about the experience. I would use them again in the future without question.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed one night on a business trip. Easy walk to beach, harbor and State Street shopping. Great staff, very friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"small hotel GREAT service!"
I didn't expect the hotel to be so small, but somehow it didn't matter. All the extras were just wonderful! My son eats all day long so he thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, the crackers and cheese in the afternoon, and the cookies in the evening. The location is ideal too if you don't mind walking a little bit. Or you could use one of the bikes that […] are complimentary. We did that twice. Loved all these extras! "What a find!"
The entire experience at Lavender Inn by the Sea was exceptional. From the bottle of champagne (which was very thoughtful) to the wine and cheese reception, the stay was perfect. Nice rooms, small hotel, which made the continental breakfast very nice and not too crowded like some hotels for a morning experience. The staff was very helpful and just a […] short walk to the marina, beaches, and State Street. The rooms were very clean and quiet. Hope to stay here again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming independently-owned hotel"
This is a very lovely hotel in a conveniently-located part of town. Would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Couldn't ask for a nicer staff."
Cheese and crackers upon arrival, cookies and milk at night, breakfast, a heated pool and included parking... What else can one ask for. Everything was super clean which more than made up for the fact that this wasn't a luxury hotel like the Hyatt but they really took care of their guests and played to their strengths.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Clean, Comfortable stay"
The Inn was very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend if only stopping for the night. Stopped in Santa Barbara for a night on the drive from LA to San Francisco to take more in from the drive. Easy walk to foreshore/Jetty. Easy enough walk or short drive from shops and restaurants, etc. We got a great meal at The Hungry CatGenuine Expedia guest review
"A great surprise"
My husband and I thought the Inn was such a nice surprise! We arrived and were greeted with wine and cheese for the evening, offered champagne in the room and felt very warm and welcome! It was a beautiful place in a great location with wonderful service and amenities, at a fantastic price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"been there and will do it again!"
Very pleasant. Nice amenities; Wi-Fi, expanded tv, nice welcoming bottle to champagne or cider, dvd's with a huge list to pick from, great bikes to use with helmets and locks, nice breakfast with real pastries and yougurt and hard boiled eggs for protein lovers not to mention cereals, breads, spreads and juice and coffee/tea. By the time our 4 hours […] were up with the bikes, it was wine, cheese and cracker time. After going out for dinner we returned to stock up on milk and cookies before watching our movies. "Nice hotel, friendly staff"
It was a nice place loved the free champagne in the room. They also had free beach cruisers, wine and cheese, milk and cookies, and free dvd rentals of newer movies. We would go back. It was close to the beach.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Sort of a Bed and Breakfast"
This is an older motel disguised as a bed-and breakfast. The disguise works! We lliked it a lt for the friendly staff, terrific morning breakfast, and the bottle of champagne in our room. "We love staying here!!!"
This is the second time my husband and I have stayed there. It is a great relaxing hotel for us to go without the kids. One of our favorites!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel, awesome location near the beach, delicious cookies, free wine and a bottle of champagne. What more can you ask for?Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice clean little hotel. The room was just a little too dark and traditional for our taste. We were able to check in early on Sun afternoon. Left our car windows open by accident overnight and nothing went missing. Great breakfast pastries and coffee. All we needed was in walking distance.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We have stayed here four previous times. The rooms are comfortable and beautiful, close to restaurants and shopping. Upon arrival, you are greeted with cheese and wine, after with milk and cookies. Don't forget breakfast, includes cereals, pastries, eggs, fruit, yogurt and many other things.Genuine Expedia guest review
Our stay was wonderful, staff was excellent (especially Liz) who was one of the staff members during the weekend we stayed. Love how they give you bikes to borrow during your stay and try and make your time there, the most relaxing and joyful experience possible!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Surprisingly Pleasing and Quaint"
Our room was very clean and, although slightly on the small side, it was quite pleasant and cozy. The afternoon wine and cheese and evening milk and cookies were delightful amenities. The continental breakfast was varied and satisfying. Tasty coffee was available most of the day in the lobby. My wife and I walked to several activities and used inexpensive […] State Street trolleys and shuttles to and from shopping areas on the street. "Thin walls and stinky rooms"
Our greeting was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. Location is ok. If you go toward the beach, you're good...if you go the opposite direction (which is the way to go to get to State Street, you pass a lot of homeless and shady areas. Then we got to the room. It was smaller than expected, and it smelt so old and gross! When it came time to retire […] and go to sleep, our "neighbors" were having a good time. The walls were obviously too thin because there was constant knocking on the wall, and we could hear way more than we wanted too. It kept us up for about 2-3 hours it was that loud and annoying. We will never stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very nice hotel, greeted with a bottle of Champaign in the fridge, wine tasting in the afternoon and cookies in the eventing. Breakfast was very light but better quality than most, no place to sit inside and outside was too cool. "Wonderful Weekend Getaway"
My husband and I stayed at the Lavender Inn for a quick weekend getaway for President's Day weekend. We loved the cute charm of the Lavender Inn and the room was very warm and comforting. "Best hotel in Santa Barbara"
My fiancee and I had a wonderful weekend in Santa Barbara and simply loved this cozy hotel. They gave us a sparkling cider toast as well as milk and cookies and loaned us bicycles to explore the town. We will be sure to return.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Quaint and pleasant"
Lavender Inn was a cute little hotel and very pleasant. I can feel how hard they are trying to make it a special place to stay. It stands out of other ordinary lodgings in Santa Barbara in several points: hospitality with a welcome champagne in a room, wine and cheese in the afternoon, milk and cookies in the evening, and simple but well-presented continental […] breakfast. Building is old but well-kept and beautifully appointed, and close to the harbor (2 blocks). The neighborhood is very quiet. Pool and hot tub are very small and exposed to the rather busy street, but guests can use a bigger and more private hot tub and pool at the sister hotel across the street using the room key, and it was wonderful. Only one thing I was disappointed was how small the room was. We booked a king bed room on the second floor. It was very clean with a nice large shower stall. But it was just very tiny...I felt like the bed was occupying most of the room and no where else to stretch my legs and relax. Otherwise, the inn is very quaint and has lots of charms with good services. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"1st Experience w/B&B in Santa Barbara"
This was our first attempt at a B&B in Santa Barbara. It was a pleasant experience. The staff was just great - very helpful and welcoming, (including the housekeepers and maintenance crew). The front desk was wonderful. When we first checked in, we had mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary and they upgraded our accommodations without extra costs. […] Their restaurant recommendations were fabulous. Our dining experience in Santa Barbara was enhanced tenfold! "Nice little getaway"
This was a nice little night away. The hotel room was pretty standard, but the friendliness of the staff and the nice little touches made up for this. We were welcomed to the hotel by a very nice women named Lilly who was a Santa Barbara local. She gave us some very good advice about some good restaurants and local wineries. We had no problem walking […] to State Street (the main street) from the hotel so driving after going on the Urban Wine Trail was not an issue. The hotel also had an extensive DVD movie selection and also had some nice beach cruiser bikes to use for no extra charge. It was the perfect little getaway for us.. "A little disappointing..."
"Heated" pool and hot tub were both ice cold. For $180 per night, all amenities should be as listed. The complimentary bottle of champagne is a nice touch. Then again, it's a $4 bottle. I would have preferred a pool one could actually use.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Lavender Inn by the Sea Greetings Charles, Thank you for your recent stay with us. I am terribly sorry to hear the temperature of the pool and hot tub did not meet your expectations. While Santa Barbara offers mild year round temperatures, we make an effort to ensure our pool is heated to the standard 84 degrees, providing a comfortable experience for our guests. Your comfort is very important to us so please know we appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention allowing us the opportunity to review the matter . Sincerely, Greg Broussard – General Manager.
"Great location -excellent hotel!"
The Lavender Inn was beyond what we expected. Perhaps better than some big chain hotels. I say this because of the attention to details, complimentary services and comfort of our room. We thoroughly enjoyed our room (upgraded at no extra charge!). Would definitely stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
