Internet access was very good. Hotel layout is horrible, particularly if you need to carry any heavy bags. Need to be careful if walking around the area at night as there are a lot of drunks in the neighborhood. Hotel staff is pleasant and helpful.

I have stayed at the Apollo Hotel several times over the last 4 years and it is consistently clean, and the staff is genuinely helpful. They charge a premium for Executive rooms, (meaning they are larger then average), but really the standard room is large enough. Breakfast is one of the best I've had in the Netherlands, withe several hot and cold choices […] each day. Room was noisy due to buses and just noise of people from the street. Wifi cost 9euro while other hotels in utrecht gives it for free. Its almost 2013 and they charge you like it was 6 years ago. Room has old feeling, cant really explain why.

I had an excellent five night stay at the Apollo in central Utrecht. The hotel is a perfect mix of comfort and avant garde. The hotel lounge on the second floor with wireless and free espresso coffee was a brilliant feature. The hotel is on the Utrecht main square 200 meters from the train station exit. I was only there but one night and the hotel was fine ofr me. It's alittle eclectic to say the least. Check in was in one part of the building and you had to take an awkward route to get to your room. It wasnt bad, just a little eclectic. The hallway had an odor to it (like dank wet carpet) but my room was perfectly fine. The hotel is a 4 star, but it has more a feeling of a 3 star. Good location, walk to the train station, walk to the canals, quiet. Only one bath towel provided, no mini-bar. No alarm clock. Asked for a wake-up call, did not get it. In-room Internet service is not free, like it seems to be advertised. There is a charge of about 8-9 Euro per day, or 35 […] for a week. I have been to the beautiful and relatively un-touristy city of Utrecht on four occasions, and will never stay anywhere else. This is on the side of Utrecht Centraal Station leading into the scenic old part of the city, and is right on the edge of that old part, in the middle of shopping and quite near the canals. I just completed a one week stay at the Apollo in Utrecht. I was in town for a business trade show at the convention center. I travel to Europe several times a year on business and I was very pleased with the hotel and the location. Contrary to other reviews posted (by people that don't travel to Europe very often) the hotel was very easy to find... […] very close to Utrecht Centraal and the old town. The main shopping and restaurant areas are right there by the hotel. My room had A/C and I needed it for the first couple of days/nights. Also, yes had to pay for internet but it was about 30euro for the whole stay. Yes... it would be better to have free wifi... but for Holland... this rate was not bad. Also... internet was true high speed... which was important for me to conduct business remotely back in the States. Room very clean and larger than expected for a single. Yes only a single bed was in the room... but the room was the size of a double. I do not eat breakfast at hotels unless included in room rate as all hotel breakfasts in Europe are expensive. There are many places to get a good breakfast within 5 minute or less walk and with much better European scenery/atmosphere. Did not have car. Took train from Schipol airport direct to Utrecht Centraal... 30 minute trip total. Utrecht is a walking city... very compact and many historical things to see... but as a university town... it has some life and atmosphere to it. Plus... doesn't have all of the noisy tourists that you find in Amsterdam. Read more

This hotel is conveniently located near the central station and shopping and restaurants along the canal. The room was comfortable, but not air conditioned. For this time of year, the lack of A/C was not a problem, but it could get stuffy if the temperatures were to rise.

I have stayed in this hotel twice now, and have been pleased with it on both occasions. It is a few minutes walk from the train station so an excellent location for my purposes. The service has been good and while not luxurious the rooms are clean and more than adequate for business travel. Great location, right beside the canal, center railway station. It was reasonably priced but you pay extras for basic TV (English Stations), breakfast is extra, Internet is good but 9Euro extra. All in all though I will be back. Good Hotel for the tourist and business traveler alike.

I reserved for a double bed and got a bed smaller then a single bed. I didn't have time to ask and fix the issue. When I left to the airport the receptionist said the trains were not running and that I should take a cab. 65 euros later I get on my flight and the guy sitting next to me came from Utrecht on the train no problem. I'm not happy.

Satff was nice and ready to help to make stay be pleasant. BUT the level of noise in the room, mainly caused by the traffic, drunken people outside getting back from the drinking holes yearning for whatever and yelling it out loud and constuction work, was intorelable. Extremely good value for money, the Apollo provided sound and safe accommodation, well situated in down-town Utrecht. My room was immediately next door to the elevator machine room. Every time someone used the elevator in the night I was wakened by clanging and banging from the motor. And the bathtub was full of someone else's hair. Given that standards of cleanliness are so high in the Netherlands, this was a real surprise.

Whilst this hotel has a convenient location near the train station, all the rooms facing onto the street are extremely noisy as it is on the main bus route and there is no double glazing. Walls between rooms are paper thin. Bathroom facilities poor especially the shower. I would not recommend this hotel.

Good location on the hotel with a friendly staff but over-priced. The room was ok but the payment scheme for wifi and tv-channels was strange and expensive. The breakfast was ok but not worth the 18 euro's charged for it. The hotel was clean but didn't fully lived up to my expectations.

Clean room, however, I had the room next to the elivator which most likely gets rented out the last. Because of this there was a smell in the bathroom but letting the water go in the sink, bidet and bad it was gone in 5 minutes. I have stayed at the Appolo 3 times now, as I visit Utrecht twice a year for the record fair. It ends up being cheaper than staying at the NH or Plaza. On previous occasions I was upgraded free of charge to the superior room (well with balcony), but this time I was told I had to pay for the privilege. The rooms are fine though, modern and clean, but […] it means going down stairs, walking along a long corrider before taking a lift up a couple of floors, to somehow end up on the 7th floor? Confusing, but OK... I satyed three nights and although the room was cleaned to a good standard, no one replaced or cleaned the tea cups and I had to bring this to the attention of reception. The Internet/TV package is expensive and I had to go for a week package as the only free English channel was BBC2! So paid the extra to watch BBC1. A week deal for free wifi and all channels is €34.50 for a week, which would be a good deal if you do stay 1 week, but not so good for three nights. All in all, I will probably stay there again, as the room was OK and the staff friendly, but will be doing a price check with the NHR and Plaza Read more

The central location is ideal if you are spending time in Utrecht or need to go somewhere by rail. Everywhere is easily accessible - market, shopping centre station, old canals, restaurants and bars. Hotel has a coffee lounge with free coffee and internet which was a bonus. Rather a rambling hotel with lots of stairways (and lifts) and room service […] was OK except they didn't wash the cups! I have stayed at other hotels in Utrecht on business but the Apollo is definintely in the best location if you are on holiday. It is a couple of minutes walk from the main canal where you will find bars, restaurants and shops. I would definitely stay at the Apollo again when I return to Utrecht. I made a reservation for two weeks at Appolo.It was a very pleasant stay, very close to everything I need, the room was very clean, the bed comfortable, enough for me because I used the room only during the nights. The balcony was very usefull fo my morning cofee with a cigarret.
