Great location on the esplanade, close to everything you need would certainly go back again. On the negative side it's a pity the place does not its own gym, you have to walk 500 metres to sister hotel and use theirs. also internet is expensive 12pm to 12am day use in room is Aus$20 and one hour wireless in the lobby is $7 plus they charge for use of the in room safe which in my opinion should be complimentary.

The hotel wasn´t good at all. We stayed at the hotel in early January. Rooms were "old", bath room was a bit dirty and you could see someone elses hair in the tub and in the floor. We had forgotten to put the please do not disturb sign to the door so the cleaning lady came to knock on our door at 7AM in the morning! I have travelled a lot and they had never been so early. Corridors were really dark and smelly. And the hotels restaurant. We had to go there because of the floods. I don´t have anything nice to say about the restaurant. We had to wait for the waiter for 15 minutes to give our order. He couldn´t speak much English and he didn´t understand if you asked what is on the daily menu today!??! Then other 15 minutes to get our bottle of wine. After we had sit there for 45 minutes I got really angry and went to talk to other waiter who luckily understood English and said our food is coming. Ok, but after waiting for 1 hour the waiter came to say that they didn´t have the steaks left we ordered!!! Finally we got other steaks (1,5 hours later) but they were half burned and half welldone - we ordered medium steaks.. Because of the hard rain the water came into the hotels first floor. Our room was in the 4th floor. On our first day you could hear some animals (rats or big bugs) going in the pipes. When it started to rain heavily we could hear this terrible noice coming from the pipes all day long. Luckily I had my earplugs with me so I could sleep without hearing the voice. So I really don´t recommend this hotel. The pictures look good on the web but not in real life..

Our room was large and very comfortable with a wide variety of equipment provided, and our requests for room location (ie. high and away from lifts etc.) were taken into account. Service was excellent and the food was fine although the waterfront restaurants are tempting and close at hand. A full range of facilities were available (poolside, tour info, car parking etc.) and as a retired couple we would not fault this hotel and would certainly stay there again.

Nice Hotel right on Esplanade and Trinity Bay with great ocean views from room. Within easy walking distance (5 minutes) from restaurants and downtown Cairns. Breakfast in hotel was very overpriced but management offered a discount that made it worthwhile. My only complaint was that there was a musty mildew odor in the hall near my room but it did not ruin the experience.

This was a great hotel. The location to everything was fantastic. The airport is close and many of the shuttles take you right to the hotel. The Espanade is right in front of the hotel and great for walks and going to the restuarants. A block away are great places to eat and shop. Room is great and very comfortable. Considering we had no idea on where we should stay this turned out to be a great location.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. We booked an Ocean View room, as other reviews recommended. By U.S. standards, I would say that this is a solid 2.5- or 3-star hotel. Our room was spacious and had a nice balcony. It was clean enough, with nothing directly offensive, but I can't say that it had an especially clean "feel." The furniture and bedding was clearly very old and not high-quality, but the mattress was firm and everything served our needs. Its location was excellent (only a block from the shops on the Esplanade), but beware that Cairns city does not have a beach and the water is pretty gross -- you definitely can't swim in the ocean by the city. Overall, I think that this is a very good budget option.

Staying in a hotel of this caliber I would have expected included wireless access. Instead could pay $20 for 24 hour access (that is cancelled if you sign off within the 24 hours) or $2 for 20min in the lobby. Also, no breakfast is included. You don't have access to coffee until 7:30am which is way too late when you're likely to leave the hotel by 7am to get out on the reef.
