Obviously at the price it is not a five star hotel, but it offers everything you need as far as cleanliness, comfort, staff ( very helpful), location and ease of getting around DC. I would certainly recommend them and would stay there again. Four out of five stars. Thanks to them for a comfortable stay.

This is an inexpensive hotel, but totally adequate. The manager, Michael, was friendly and a great help. My only slight gripes are the bathroom: no lid covering the toilet so I had to drape a towel over it so nothing would fall in; very little surface space to set down toiletries; too small and short shower curtain and no hair dryer (though you could […] request to borrow one). Also, there is some sort of bracket on the bottom of the bed frame to keep the mattress from sliding - it is hidden with the bedcover and hurts like hell when you hit it with your ankle. Our room was very clean and nicely furnished. Plenty of room. I forgot shampoo and I was disappointed to see they did not have any small shampoos in the bathroom. They had soap and body wash, but no shampoo. We had the A/C in the room set on the coldest setting, and it was barely cool. Also, their continental breakfast was pathetic. The staff was helpful. The room was clean. The TV was very good. The fridge and microwave were appreciated. But the continental breakfast was just a choice of sweets. The price is right if you don't mind hearing your neighbors or sleeping in an overused bed. The walls are paper thin, so you can almost hear a conversation in the next room. I stayed in this hotel in March of 2012 and below are my comments: There was no iron and ironing board available in the room. There was no hair dryer either. Anyone who needed these items had to go to the hotel lobby and and pick them them from the hotel personnel. They would not bring them to your room. Info about the hotel indicates that the hotel serves free breakfast but all they serve is some stale and cold muffins and the cheapest quality orange juice in a plastic wrap that you can think of. This is a small and private owned hotel. Hotel is old but is well kept. If you are looking luxury with all the fancy full services of a well known hotel chain, this one is not for you. Cleanliness and safety are our priority since we only came back at night to sleep. From a glance, this is the only hotel located on this strip--it is a mixed residential and business district. There is an apartment complex to the right of the hotel. The area is superb with all the local and chained eateries located next to it. several strip malls are in walking distance including a post office. We felt very safe during our stay there. Hotel is on the bus route which can take you to the MetroRail (subway) park station that is about 1 mile away. You can either take the bus in the front of the hotel or drive your own car to the MetroRail (subway) station. Our 3rd floor room was small but efficient with 2 beds + window, 2 chairs and table with lamp, fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Iron board can be requested from frontdesk. Small standing shower only but very clean. Shower pressure was as good as living at home. There was a rotten (wooded part about 3") wall next to the shower, but we didn't mind. Lobly was very small but was staffed 24/7. Elevator worked fine. Private/fenced parking lot. Read more

The location is excellent, with ample bus service to the metro station and it is only a 20-minute metro ride to downtown Washington. I stayed here while on a business trip, but the conference was in DC downtown. Traveling back and forth was a pain, it took one hour door to door, but I road the bus and metro rail system. I suppose I could have taken a taxi everyday, the cost was higher than I willing to pay. The room though, was clean. Sheets being clean is a big deal to me, and they […] were. In some hotels I've felt like I needed to go to sleep fully clothed. The rug and bathroom seemed good enough to walk around with socks on. The television was adequate and had cable. In the morning there was juice, muffins and coffee in the entrance. There wasn't anywhere to sit, but I was on the go anyway. The walls seemed less sound proofed than I'd like, which I was worried about, but it was quiet enough to get to sleep. I could see if there were some really noisy people that it could be a problem. The management seemed nice enough, and there are card readers on the outside door so you can get in at 3 in the morning, though I never noticed a time when someone wasn't at the front desk. The hotel is a thin and long structure, ugly architecture and seems a bit shabby when you walk in. There was also a lingering smell of smoke in my nonsmoking room; so, if that bothers you, I don't see that going away anytime soon. The area around the hotel is nice as well, it seems like medium income with higher income moving in. There is a Panera right across the street, and a CVS, bar, several restaurants and grocery store within a half-mile. I walked back from the train station at odd hours of the night and never felt threatened or uneasy. On the whole, it is good enough to go back to, if price is an issue and you don't mind not being right next to downtown DC. Read more
