"Spacious rooms and lovely staff"
We had trouble finding the way to the hotel at night. Our rental car's GPS device took us to the hotel from a route that is closed. Driving from a very narrow street, in pitch dark was not pleasant. We could see the lights of the hotel at the top of the mountain but couldn't reach there. Thank God on our way down to the main road we found a police car, […] and the lovely policemen took us to the hotel. Francesca welcomed us to the hotel with her angelic voice. The staff was very kind and helpful. Our room as well as the bathroom was very spacious and comfortable. I guess it will be a nice hotel to stay for weekend getaways.
Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel in a beautiful location"

The hotel it's placed in the top of a hill, the view is great, but it had the next big minuses: no menu and because of this prices vary depending on waiter for the drinks; the router was broken and i didn't had an internet connection available just on the corridor, as long I was there they didn't fixed it (6 days) even if i reported the fault daily; no access to local transport if you need a cab they need to call for one in Imola and it's really expensive. You can visit the city of Dozza, not far away from the hotel, around 30-40 minutes walking. The city it's full of history and you can find nice restaurants (e.g. Piccola Osteria del Borgo) because at the hotel they no longer serve during the weekend after evening.

We stayed only one night, August 27, on our way from Venice to Tuscany. We wanted to stay here because Anthony Bourdain stayed here when filming the Emilia Romagna episode of "No Reservations", so we assumed it must be a good place to stay. Well...yes and no. It certainly is stunning. Situated on the top of a hill with panoramic views, it's location is lovely. The drive up was amazing, surrounded by vineyards for as far as the eye can see. The pool and lounge areas are vast and nicely decorated. When we checked in we were given room 121, a junior suite right beside the old church, and we were informed there would be a party there that night and that it would be hosted in the old church and around the grounds. We were told it could be noisy and would go until 3AM. We were told that if the noise was too much for us, we could call the front desk and they would try to relocate us to another room in the hotel. We liked our room; it was spacious by European standards and albeit the WIFI sucked, we made do. We had a great dinner at the restaurant - if you stay here, you should definitely try it. It was just my husband and me, and we shared a bottle of wine, antipasti, main courses, desserts and coffee - the cost was 104 Euro. Pretty much what we expected for hotel dining, but the food was truly excellent. Well OMG...the lady at the front desk was right...it DID get noisy that night! At about 11:45 PM (after I had been asleep for about 45-minutes) the DJ lit up the sound system and the noise was like nothing I've experienced outside of a physical night club. The DJ didn't stop talking all night and played the most insanely bass-heavy dance music I've ever heard. Because our room backed onto the old church, the entire room vibrated...the bed was vibrating and I didn't even have to put a quarter into it! And at exactly 3 AM the music stopped and the party-goers dispersed. Needless to say, I didn't sleep until after the party was over, but I'm sure those at the party had a good time. There was no point calling the front desk asking for a new room; I was already in my PJs and wasn't willing to pack up our belongings and move, so we sat up until almost 3 and watched movies. The night before we decided we wanted to have breakfast in our room, so we filled out the little card and left it on our door. Our breakfast never came, and by the time we got showered and headed downstairs to the breakfast room, it had closed. Now I'm tired, hungry and generally unhappy. We explained our general unhappiness to the lovely young lady at the front desk (she was genuinely shocked and apologetic), and she was gracious enough to give us a discount on our room and even had someone pack us breakfast to go, as we had to check-out and travel to our next destination. Although I may stay here again if I were in the area, I would be very cautious about staying here any time they have an event planned, and I would certainly ask for a room on the opposite side of the hotel from the old church, where they typically hold large events.

And making parties is the main thing in the hotel. Apart from that, it is quite old and overpriced at average service. The rooms are cold and not so new.. Breakfast was poor and not tasty. But the views from the hotel are amazing and it's a really quite place..
"Very pretty but VERY noisy"

We stayed at this hotel with friends for seven nights. It is a beautiful old building with lovely views. The rooms are generally pleasant (not luxurious) although some rooms are much better than others. There is a room on the first floor that is no bigger than a closet. Room 119 is quite large and overlooks the pool and fields in the back. Room 214 is really lovely. It is large with a beautiful side view of fields and vineyards. It is also the quietest. Room 116 is a moderate size but the bathroom has a pedestal sink and no vanity. There is no place to put toiletries. The closet has a curtain rather than a door. The rooms and the hotel, itself, are very clean. Almost all of the rooms have two double beds. The wifi is extremely frustrating as it only works in the small lobby area so you must go down to the lobby every time you want to use wifi. The real problem is the noise. The hotel seems to care more about the functions that it hosts than the hotel guests. During our seven night stay there were 4 or 5 functions. Each one extremely noisy. One night they hosted a disco. There must have been 400 or 500 people inside and outside. The music was so loud that it could be heard for miles around as well as in most of the rooms. There were so many cars parked all over the property that when we got back from dinner at about 11pm we couldn't find a place to park. On another night there was a party at the pool. The music, again, was extremely loud and continued until almost 2am. It was so loud that you could not hear the TV in the rooms facing the pool. One night they hosted a wedding and, again, loud music and no parking. I am not overly picky. I enjoy all kinds of music and parties but not when I want to sleep. When the hotel operates as a hotel it is lovely. The restaurant is excellent. The staff is very accommodating. They are more than willing to help with sightseeing and restaurant suggestions. Be careful. A stay here is not restful.

We stayed for three nights in one of the junior suits for a wedding. The pool area is lovely and the views from the hotel and rooms are really amazing. The restaurant by the pool had some really good food and wines..expect hotel prices for these though. The whole thing was lovely, but in its own way...meaning don't expect chain hotel four star accommodation and service. Everyone was very friendly but it is run as a family hotel business and the rooms, although clean and comfortable are dated. The hotel is unique in that it is an old monastery with a very cool wine cellar/restaurant and a church on the premises. The breakfast was included and had a good selection.
"Serene, spectacular and delicious"

Full marks for this hotel. Gorgeous location (especially the drive north-bound towards Dozza when you approach the castle from a ridge), airy room, comfortable bed and the kids enjoyed the jacuzzi bath. The food at the restaurant was the best my husband had eaten and the staff kindly accomodated our to youngest daughter's taste by offering alternative dishes. The local sparkling wine was delightful. We loved the pool area and the breakfast room. On the whole a superb stay.

Wonderful location for a wedding. Staff and service impeccable. Food, delicious. Room, clean and comfortable. We spent a wonderful 3 days at Monte Del Re and intend to return as soon as possible. Also ideal for food lovers, since the cuisine service & wine are exceptionally good. Stunning view from the hotel and surrounding area.

We stayed here for one night. Beautiful outlook over valley and onwards. Rooms comfortable and large. Amenities clean and comfortable. Busy function venue with several different functions at one time mid week. A little noisy but music and noise finished around midnight. Good breakfast selection and staff very helpful.

Came for one night at this hotel. What a beautiful countryside! The hotel itself is overall nice without beign pretensious. We had a wonderful tour of the area with personal friend Ani and family, who after a while had us wishing that we would have planned a longer stay. Ate at rest. la Scuderia, highly recommended. The town of Dozza is beautiful and has a calm atmosphere, definetely worth it!
