The beach was awesome, amazing blue waters and the hotel had a beautiful view. Hotel staff were extremely helpful and always around. All inclusive is worth buying as it made the process much smoother at meals. Dinner was excellent. Breakfast was decent but the buffet choices didn't change so it got a little old after u ate the same thing everyday. Not […] a good array of juice choices at breakfast for it being a tropical island. The only downside was the rooms. The walls were paper thin and you could here entire conversations. A little old as for furniture although the bed was comfortable and clean. Wall outlets were limited and none were available in the bathrooms which made it difficult for a hair dryer or straightner. Lighting was very dim and it was difficult to see at night. Air conditioning is old fashioned an thus is difficult to keep the rooms at one temperature but it worked fine and had no problems cooling the room down. The room was very clean and had no problems with bugs, which is an awesome feat in the Caribbean. Again I would highly recommend this hotel. The arrangements were decent and you barely spend anytime inside unless it is to sleep. The beach was beautiful, can't express that enough. beautiful beach and great friendly staff but the facility itself needs a major refurb. When we got into our room, hardly anything worked and we had to call out maintenance 5 times before lights, shower, door, tv, safe worked. They were good, it got fixed quickly and got to stay in the room until 6pm the following day for free but all rather trying.

The service is terrible, very rude. The restaurants don't have many options, and that's if they are even open. Good luck trying to get service on Sunday's - everything is closed. From the bartenders to front desk, they seem as the guests are a nuisance. If it wasn't for the beach, this would be consider a Motel at best.

My Husband and I came here for the last couple days of our month-long trip to Antigua. Knowing that it was a 3-star I had lowered expectations considering we had spend the rest of our trip at Cocobay (in Valley Church) and Sandals (right next door). However, there are some glaring issues with this hotel that I would say are well below the 3-star rating. Our […] first night, we came up from the beach to have showers and go to dinner. There was no hot water so we called down to the reception to have someone come up and turn it on (as the hot water wasn't even turned on in our room) We waited an hour for someone to come up and turn the hot water on before calling down again. We were told that maintenance was on their way up to us. An hour later, still no one. We called down again and got the same response. it was 2.5 hours later before the maintenance guy came up and turned our hot water on. The second night we came back off from the beach to a cleaned room, hot water, but no towels. Called down for towels to be sent up and began the exact same run around as the previous night, with towels arriving just after the two-hour waiting mark. The night staff is seriously lacking in their service ability and attitude. There are a number of other issues (ants all over the main dining, etc). We don't recommend this hotel, nor would we visit another Rex Resorts property after this experience. Read more

We decided to stay at Halcyon Cove for the long weekend. The hotel knew it was my birthday and gave us a free upgrade to a pool/beach view. That was wonderful! They also threw in a bottle of sparkling champagne. While there were some electrical problems, and it was occasionally hard to get pool towels or have the room cleaned (they apparently did not […] have an extra key), overall it was a great deal for the money. We did not do the all-inclusive plan and had lunch once (not good). Also the timing of the food options is not the greatest, so you might want to consider having some snacks around. Plenty of food options outside of the hotel though that were cheaper and MUCH better. The hotel did have a nice happy hour and lots of deals so it made sense for us to pay as we went. The beach there is wonderful, the staff was friendly and managed to get the cake, flowers and champagne that were sent to me (I have had problems with this in the US). The water sports guys were accomodating as well. I would have no qualms recommending this to anyone, just keep in mind that you are not paying for luxury service, but it was well worth the cost, especially compared with Sandals next door. The staff makes the difference as was stated by Mr. Michelin, the General Manager. This is the case with this hotel. Friendly staff and always ready to help. We met and talked to all levels of staff, included security. We played tennis in the morning and always had a chat about the game and were laughing together with the security around the tennis […] courts. This made for a good morning. We were very happy with the cleanliness of the room and surroundings. Beach is great and the Pier Restaurant and Beach Bar real assets for sun and beach focused guests. We always felt safe walking to and from restaurants in the neighborhoods. We did not have "all inclusive" but had a couple of lunches and dinners in the hotel. We were happy with the food and service. Beach activities included watersports and shopping from local vendors. We felt all service providers and suppliers were very courteous and respected our privacy. They were also hardworking. We rented a car from within the hotel and are satisfied with the service. old and very dirty hotels. The sheets were very very dirty, and the pillowcases were greasy and full of hairs. The room smelled of mildew ,on the ground there were hairs and roaches on the floor, around the refrigerator, in glasses and there were ants on the furniture. They put me in a room right next to a bar, where music played full blast untill midnight. Then at 0720 i got a phone call from reception asking for the iron and ironing board to be left outside the room. […] I had virtually no sleep due to having a bout of food poisoning from the restaraunt buffet the previous night. When we arrived we booked a garden view room and was upgrade to a oceanfront room due to the mold smell in our room. The room that we where moved had a broken air conditior and broken toliet. The next day we where moved to another room in the main building. We had to ask daily for towel, our room was not restocked daily. We had to ask 3 of 8 days for […] coffee. The room was not cleaned daily until late in the evening betwwen 3p-7p daily. The internet work 1 1/2 days out of the 8 days we where there. I travel monthly for pleasure and this was a 2 1/2 to 3 star hotel, what the hotel really has going for it is one of the best beaches on the island. I truely inderstand that things can and do go wrong from time to time. I think that they need to restock room daily not have guess ask. My husband and I were not supposed to take a vacation this year due to finances, but we had to get away, so we chose the Halcyon due to it's affordability. We are not very picky. As long as there's a nice beach within walking distance and a basic and comfortable room to sleep in, we're usually OK. This hotel wasn't bad, but it definately wasn't great. […] When we got into our room, we were greeted by tons of mosquitoes. We had to buy room spray and spray each time we left room. We booked a deluxe garden and they upgraded us. Would have hated to see what their more basic rooms looked like. We requested a poolside room and said we would pay the difference in price, but each day we were told "maybe tomorrow", until it got to be too late to change, so we stopped asking. We noticed throughout our stay that there were several vacant poolside rooms each day. We were not impressed with the staff. I was counting on this not being a problem due to all rave reviews about great staff there. All the employees that got those reviews must have been on vacation, because, we only met 2 people who went out of their way to make our vacation special. The location of hotel was excellent, but all but a few surrounding restaurants were closed for the season. We made the best of it by purchasing 3 days of all inclusive. Food was good, but repetitive. Nothing outstanding. Along with several other people we spoke to, no towels were left in our room each day and no beach towels available poolside. Read more

I stayed at Halcyon for one night. The service was nice, the room was ok. I only had crumbled bars of soap and the TV remote had dead batteries. The next morning, I paid a little less, but still a lot of money for the breakfast buffet that consisted of your standard, pancakes/french toast, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, etc. The breakfast was pretty good, but not worth the price. In addition, they have a dress code that you have to wear pants and shirt with collar. Normally, these kinds of rules are for fancy dinner restaurants. But, their restaurant is not fancy at all. All in all, it served my purposes for the one night stay. I'm not sure if I would choose this hotel for my vacation trip though. Read more

We enjoyed our stay immensely at Halcyon Cove but there are a few things that needs to be rectify. First of all we went all inclusive but once we got there we found out that premium liquors were not available to us we were very disappointed that we were not able to get Absolute Vodka, Patron also Heineken beer, that was really ridiculous. Also, there […] was a foul scent in the bathroom the whole time we were there which made going to the bathroom and showering unpleasant. Overall our stay was very pleasant, the staff was excellent, the food was good except we had to pay full price for dinner at the Wari Pier restaurant which was really surprising to us. They could have made it half price and even a little extra but full price was a bit outrageous. Halcyon Cove needs to explain their all inclusive plan because it really was not all inclusive and we were very disappointed in the way that was advertised. We should not have had to make all those extra purchases since we were on the all inclusive plan. But still we did have a great time and met some very nice people and hopefully made some new friends. We would recommend our friends to stay at the resort and we hope to return in the near future ourselves for a little longer stay and hopefully under improved conditions. Also we were surprised we could not get internet access from our room we had to go to their lobby in order to get internet access. Hopefully they will rectify these things in the future. Read more

We spent one night here before our Sandals Reservations were ready (Plane scheduling issues). The room was very out dated and dirty. We asked for a bottle of water and they had given us an open bottle. Some good things about the room, the restroom was well maintained, and the room was cool when we arrived.

These guys really want visitors to experience and enjoy their island. Their personal "Good Morning" says it all, and "How can I Help?" The Staff is TOPS and the Beach perfect..Quiet and good snorkling on one end, and a cruise ship on the other. If it gets a little warm, get another beer and stay under water.

Then around 14$ for 2 drinks a rum and coke, and an antiguan smile; then for breakfast another around 50$. Kind of priced high. Other than that....The room smelled of paint, there was not direction of the staff. Plus several of the restaraunts werent open the entire time we were there. I got what I wanted. The least expensive price for a waterfront location. The downside for in this part of the island and right on the water is that food options are VERY limited. I used our fridge and went to the First Choice supermarket and made my own breakfast daily instead of buying their $20.-/person breakfast. The cabs to town are $12.-, each […] way, so by the time you eat there and cab it both ways, your dinner turns out to be around $80-$100 which is what would have been spend around the hotel "compound". However, this beach is really nice and it's easy to get help and information about activities and events and there are thatched umbrellas and beach chairs to lounge on all day long with only steps to the cash bar. These conveniences make it a great stay. I spend the second half of the trip in English Harbour. That's where you can find restaurant options and a cute little town, unlike this Dickenson Bay area.
