"Amazing place and fantastic service"
The beach is beautiful. The rooms are great. The food is amazing. The staff do a great job of learning your name and being very helpful. It can get expensive, but you get what you pay for (in a good way). I'd love to come back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful beach front hotel"
I have traveled all over the world and have never have experienced some wonderful care & service. I felt like I was home. The staff were so caring and friendly. The hotel was amazingly gorgeous. They have kept the mexican tradition alive in this hotel. They have a lady that comes on a daily basis and makes tortillas for the guests. The food was five […] star. I can go on and on. Amazing! We stayed at Maroma Resort and Spa last week and the hotel is everything we had wished for. The most beautiful beach, fantastic rooms and an incredible staff. The only complain (if you can call it that) is that it's difficult to find if you are driving by yourself. Had a great time and hope to go there again sometime!Genuine Expedia guest review
Stop researching, no need to worry about this place. One of the best hotels in the Caribbean. Kudos to the staff, they got everything down pat.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Peaceful and gorgeous beach!"
This is a small resort - only 69 rooms which makes it wonderful if you want a quiet, peaceful getaway amongst gorgeous tropical plantings! The staff is super friendly and at your service. Iguanas cross your path, there are bikes to borrow and the grounds wind around the property and are lovely. There are separate pools that are almost like having your […] own private swimming hole. The resort is excelent. Beach and rooms are very quiet (a big plus relative to classic all-inclusive resorts). The staff is extremely nice and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Maroma...now with childen (boo)"
Maroma is a beauitful place with very attentive staff and quality food. But for those that enjoyed Maroma in the past as an adults-only retreat, as we have done the past few years, you will be disappointed that Maroma now allows children. For those of you without experience at Maroma as adults-only, you will ask yourself why they allow children at such […] a beauitful, adult resort. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This resort offers those looking for a romantic getaway the perfect escape. It never feels to crowded or overly isolated and the staff - you couldn't ask for a friendlier or more accommodating staff. The resort itself is impeccable from it's velvet sand to the incredible drinks to the room accommodations, we can't wait to go back.Genuine Expedia guest review
Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

There is so much that goes into rating a property. When i look into overall experience this is my number 1 hotel of all time. When you are looking for the perfect vacation for less then 1000$ a night Belmond Maroma Resort would be my choice. The setting : You drive through a wild jungle to arrive onto the property. The property itself is set on a stunning beach that has been a top rated beach in the world for quite sometime. The Villas all have the rich mexican culture flair to them and are very romantic. I dont have words to explain the beauty of the property itself. You are 2.5 hours from Chichen Itza, 1 hour away from Tulum and 15 minutes outside of Playa Del Carman. The food was authentic and amazing with the terrace overlooking the beach. The staff were perfect and always willing to help. Best Kept Secret - I did not even want to write the review in hopes less people travel here
"Grateful beyond anything I can truly articulate"

Where to begin. This may be a different kind of review than most are used to seeing on this site. We came to Maroma to celebrate the life of a family member who passed away, they loved Maroma and the ocean. This was a bit of an atypical stay compared to most of their guests. What makes this place special beyond what everyone one knows are the people and the culture that is instilled in their staff. My sister mentioned that we'd be lighting off floating lanterns to one of the staff casually at dinner. They then without saying anything setup benches and light globes down by the ocean for us. Three of them sat with us and helped our family light them and make sure they made their way out into the sky. They arranged for the room we used to view a video and made sure our family had the privacy we needed for a couple hours as well as setup food and drinks before leaving us during this time. One of the managers shared with our family a very personal loss of his own in his own life, the loss of a child, it's a testament to how personal of an experience Maroma is. The people here are beautiful, they ask your name and remember it, anticipate your needs and put their heart into their work. This is a short list of my favorite things that you'd more typically see on this site: Hot chocolate brought to your room each morning is the best I've ever had! The architecture here is enchanting, no room seems to be the same. Food and drinks are fantastic, you can't go wrong with anything. Do the Tomazcal....just do it. The beds you lay on ocean side make for the most gorgeous day you can image. The staff will accommodate your any and every request. I could write a novel on all the small detail that makes this place what it is.... Between the location, people and building itself, this resort has a magic to it that just can't be put into words. You have to go to see what I'm talking about. If you're planning a trip to Cancun or Playa and can spring for Maroma you don't need to review any other locations. This is the spot to recharge and revitalize your soul. Peace. My gratitude to the Maroma staff for the time we spent there last week runs deeper than I could ever explain to someone who wasn't there in those moments.
"A truly magical experience..."
We just returned from five days at the Maroma. Where to begin? Our room was beautiful, spacious and very well appointed from the enormous bed with crisp white linens to the lovely bathroom with large Mexican tiled tub (and the best shower we've ever had) to the large terrace complete with comfortable furniture, a hammock and an amazing view. The hotel grounds are so beautiful that they cannot be adequately described...very lush and tropical set against a lovely, wide beach with soft sand and calm surf. The property is very well tended. Every evening they place hundreds of small candles to light the paths...exquisite! The spa was extremely luxurious and my adult daughter said she had the best massage that she's ever had, and massages are one of her favorite past times. There were so many wonderful and unexpected little extras, like candles and scented oil lit with the turn down service every evening, a pot of hot coffee left on our terrace every morning at the time of our choice, delightful organic bath products, beautiful cream colored caftans to wear, changed fresh every day. I could easily go on but I have to mention the food. 'Superb' is the only word to describe it...fresh ingredients, masterfully prepared, excellent variety, amazing indoor and beach-front dining options and wonderful, attentive staff. Ah, the staff...in all our travels over many years we have never seen a staff like the Maroma's. They are competent, friendly, extremely attentive without being oppressive, knew all the guests' names. They all speak fluent English. They seemed to almost anticipate our requests before we even verbalized them and nothing we requested was beyond their ability to deliver. In wring this review I keep thinking that I should point out some negatives to be fair but truly, there was not one. The Maroma is a one of a kind experience in beauty, luxury and pampering. We are returning soon and we will visit often. We feel extremely fortunate to have discovered this amazing hotel.
"Amazing Luxury Destination"

The hotel is absolutely stunning. The staff is first-class and make you a priority from the moment you arrive. Every touch point has been thought through. The welcome drink, the coffee delivered to your room every morning. Everyone is friendly, warm and professional. Breakfasts are AMAZING. The food overall was outstanding. The resort feels very private which is nice but you're not far from Playa del Carmen if you want to take a taxi in for the night/dinner. If you want to eat dinner at the resort, I recommend the cantina (where you also have breakfast). The Spa is an absolute must. One of the best I've ever had.
"The most amazing 77 days of our lives!!"
I believe we broke the record for the longest stay at a Belmond property. 77 days!!! This is a memory that will be with us forever. We cannot say enough about the property, staff, food, service, and everything in between. It was the fastest 77 days of our lives but that is only a testament to the fabulous experience at Belmond Maroma. The property is idyllic; set in between a beautiful, charming, peaceful stretch of beach and an exotic jungle. The staff is warm, thoughtful and attentive. We were made to feel like family from the moment we set foot on the property. Nothing was too much to ask from anyone. The food was first-class and never disappointed (we are fussy eaters). The cocktails, both traditional and standard, were spot on. The spa was divine - it was one of our favorite places to visit on the property. We were spoiled by the sauna, steam room, and plunge pool, together with the variety of delicious cold teas that were on offer each day. We will be lifelong guests of Belmond Maroma.
"But I'm worth it........"
12/31/14 ResidentePermanente San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
From the moment you are met at the airport and transported in air-conditioned luxury to the main entrance and then met and addressed by name by two staff members in typical Yucatecan dress with a tray of a variety of drinks, you know you are in for some special treatment. A choice of checking directly into your suite or being given a tour of the grounds follows. I requested a direct line to the gorgeous turquoise water that stretches forever in both directions along a gorgeous beach. The minute my feet hit the sea I knew I was in the right place. Everything from amenities in the room to fabulous dining and service remained consistent throughout my stay. How did every staff member know to call me by name? I looked for some kind of a control tower and earpieces that might give away the secret. The grounds are lovely and peaceful and you never feel you are sharing them with a large number of other guests. The yoga pavilion and spa are truly an oasis within what already feels like one. One of the most expensive resorts in the area, but then again, I'm worth it.
"Excellent in Every Way - A Magical Experience."

We visited Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa to consider including both venue and restaurant to our wedding and honeymoon destinations www.weddingplannereurope.com. Without any doubt the hotel and the restaurant are first class and they shall be added to our prestigious list of destinations and recommended to our clients as an unbeatable experience not to be missed. We explore the Mayan Riviera from top to bottom. Maroma Beach were the hotel is located is the most beautiful place to stay. The resort is close to everything airport, cancun, playa del carmen and tulum. One need not go anywhere else when staying at Belmond Maroma Beach because the resort has everything one could wish for in a spectacular and chic way. The staff and management are attentive and gracious with their guests in the most welcoming and hospitable way. Well Done.
"Sublime hotel but beware of tiny rooms"
12/29/14 Sylvia B
Yes, the grounds are fabulous, the beach gorgeous, the staff well trained, and the restaurant food excellent, BUT the so-called deluxe rooms are TINY. For $1,200 a night (New Year's rate plus 31% tax and service), we don't even have space for an armchair and there is no proper bathroom (despite the website description)! The sink is in the room, with the toilet stall on one side and shower stall on the other. So if you want something better than a youth hostel, be prepared to spend much more. And make sure you don't get room 16 right at the entrance, with everyone walking by your window.
"Walk along the beach, and I defy you to spot anything better"
12/28/14 Pink5026 London, United Kingdom
The people here are genuinely friendly and proud of their resort. An architect designed small boutique resort with all the food, drink, and bells and whistles of a sophisticated full on resort (but without the nightlife/noise). A magical glade at night of tea lights. A beautiful clean white sand dream holiday, great food, watersports available, warm sea. They changed our room without a mutter and understood why (we wanted to be away from the main area). Three blissful pools, the two at our end of the development were unused except by us. The spa is possibly the best I have ever used. And also relatively empty and you can pretend its your own dedicated resource : )) "Cantina night" was a bit underwhelming (food not well explained, and we ate too much of the small initial dishes as were not told more substantial food would come along; also given six different tequilas but then told they were all much of a muchness) and bitten by midges all night even indoors) but otherwise food was A MAZE ING. Beautiful room, clean resort, miles from the road. Heaven. I want to go back. Mainly US and European clientele. Appears to have a high number of returners. What does that tell you? Ask to be in room away from the bar/restaurant area if you do want to have privacy as the balconies/terraces look straight out onto where we can look straight in!

I am so not a stay at a resort gal, I'm more on the go but I long for the day to return to Belmond Maroma and park my butt on their beach and drink tequila all week long. No lie! There are resorts really close by, you can tell when you are walking along the beach, but you feel like you are in your own little world. I loved the service, especially the morning coffee delivery at your door. Just make sure you get your coffee before the lemurs! Everything I love about vacation and nice hotels. Great service, not snooty service either, gracious, down to earth people. Great food, balanced cocktails, good coffee, beachside servers. Umbrellas and air mattresses on the beach for you. Delicious almond soap in your bathtub. And caftans! I get to stay in a lot of nice places, Belmond Maroma is top five easily. Don't forget to try their ridiculous Mexican hot chocolate either!
