We made a last-minute booking at the Auberge de Cassagne in the midst of an arduous three-week business trip. We both needed to unwind a bit, and the on-premise Spa provided great opportunities for that. We had initially booked a conventional double room, but perhaps since it was the off-season, we were upgraded to a Junior Suite upon arrival. The staff was charming and accomodating, with great suggestions for activities and indulgences during our stay. Highly recommended!

While this hotel is a few km outside of Nimes downtown, it was easy enough to get there, but does require a car. The staff were very friendly, helpful and available. The breakfast, at 10 EUR, may have been a little overpriced (tea/coffee, juice, bread, some cheese and a salami), but was still quite nice. The shower had a hand-held wand with no way to attach, so this was less then desirable. Still, the location was good, and staff great, and we would stay there again.

A short guide to Arles

Founded by the Greeks in 600 BC, Arles then became 'little Rome'. Roman remains include a remarkably intact arena (now used for bullfights), baths, theatre and a vast necropolis. But this compact city on the Rhône is perhaps best known for its colourful houses and winding streets, depicted in so many of Van Gogh's canvases during his prolific period here. The excellent Van Gogh Trail is marked by plaques embedded in the footpaths.

Unlike wine, hotels don't get better with age. This hotel is very aged, worn rugs, broken shower holder and ratty furniture are not what you expect in a Mercure hotel. Breakfast was good, front desk service good and the room was as clean as you can get an old room to be. It's really nice 2 star hotel.

Hotel non di lusso ma più che decoroso.Posizione un pò decentrata non favorevole per chi viaggia senza auto. Per il resto zona silenziosa e apparentemente sicura. Personale gentile e molto disponibile. Livello di pulizia buono sia nelle camere che negli altri ambienti. Colazione ottima ma un pò cara ( € 13 ).

Vi hadde to hyggelige netter på dette hotellet. God mat i restauranten, og et rent og pent basseng med god dybde. Det var svært varmt da vi var der, så spaserturen til sentrum (ca en km) føltes litt lang, men vel verdt det.

Nous craignions une mauvaise expérience en réservant dans cet hôtel qui souffre de mauvaises critiques. C'était le dernier hôtel disponible pour notre week-end aux Rencontres de la Photographie, donc pas le choix. C'est vrai que l'hôtel aurait besoin d'un petit coup de neuf, mais rien de catastrophique. La chambre (208) n'était pas dégradée comme d'autres […] l'ont mentionné, elle était tout à fait confortable, et la salle de bains a manifestement été refaite il y a quelque temps. Nous avons très bien dormi. Le personnel est très aimable et serviable, et le petit déjeuner très varié pris au soleil au bord de la piscine (trop froid pour se baigner, dommage) était un réel plaisir. L'accueil et les espaces communs sont agréables. Notre chambre était très décevante avec un espace compté, une insonorisation avec la chambre voisine inexistante, un lit trop petit. En conclusion, le personnel est agréable mais l'hôtel vieillissant.

Hotel tranquillo, pulito, una bella (anche se piccola) piscina, colazione a buffet dalla scelta molto ampia e alimenti di qualità, camera spaziosa, parcheggio privato piuttosto capiente (anche se alla sera sembrava sempre pieno all'orlo). L'unica pecca è la posizione: una zona residenziale e commerciale scarsamente frequentata, collegata alla città […] da un ponte che passa sopra all'autostrada, e considerato che arriva a un boulevard appena poco più frequentato mi sento di sconsigliare di fare questa strada a piedi la sera (sarà un caso ma un autista di furgone ha trovato spiritoso mimare il suono di un fucile a me e alla mia ragazza la sera che ci abbiamo provato). Fortunatamente ad Arles i parcheggi vicino al centro sembrano abbondare. Read more

Das Hotel ist sauber und freundlich. Das Personal ist immer zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Die Altstadt von Arles ist zu Fuß gut erreichbar. Einziger Nachteil ist für neue Gäste, dass das Hotel nicht ganz leicht zu finden ist
