The hotel is old, with bad acoustics and structure. Sounded like King Kong was staying above our room. Its designed with most rooms backing up to an atrium and our room was on the ground floor. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 9:30am in the atrium so we heard loud conversations of people just outside our room beginning at 7:30am. I don't think it would […] have mattered much if we had a room on a higher floor because sound would have carried up anyway. We also wanted to try out the outdoor hot tub. Both it and the heated swimming pool were covered. Reception told us we needed to uncover the tub of its heavy cover ourselves and replace it when finished. Not worth the trouble, for sure. This hotel is by far overrated! It is very outdated and is misleading by the pictures the hotel shows to the public. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything your neighbor is doing. The pool and the hottub is literally in the parking lot and you have to walk down the public sidewalk in in the cold while cars going by blow the horn laughing […] at you. Was nice hotel and about 3 block walk into the main part of Aspen. There was also free bus transportation if needed. Nice continental breakfast was also included. The accommodations at Aspen Mountain Lodge were good including the continental breakfast provided each morning. As non-skiers this location worked well for us being just a short walk from the center of Aspen & close to the walking/biking trails by the river. Aspen Mountain Lodge is a well kept secret. Close walking distance to most restaurants and to ski slope. It's not the Little Nell, but it is comfortable and homey. Rooms are a bit dated, but for the price, convenience, and location its a bargain for Aspen!!

The Aspen Mountain Lodge was clean, comfortable and best of all, allowed us to have our dog with us. They even had complimentary breakfast in the morning, something that is quite rare in Aspen, and it was the cheapest hotel option we were able to find. It's a nice hotel for a short stay. The exterior looks old and dated but it's good on the inside. The advantage is it's in the heart of downtown and at a walk able distance from Gondola ride. I would give a rating of 3.5 out of 5.

Great location, nice breakfast and friendly staff. While the hotel is a bit older, its generally in good condition and clean! I have two complaints...we stayed on the second floor and I could hear every foot step of the guest on the floor above. One of those hotels where you're surprised they don't renovate and charge more money but glad that there is a decent budget option in such an expensive town. The location is only a few blocks from the center of town and there isn't much in terms of street noise. I love their pet policy, which was a big factor in our decision to stay there. Very disappointed, say they have air conditioning, but its a very old window air unit that is behind a wall, so the so called "cool" air never gets to the room. Got scalded in the shower anytime anybody in the hotel flushed a toilet. Pool very small, whirlpool like something in a back yard. Room key didn't work, very frustrating. Front desk personnel […] seem disinterested in anything but the computer in front of them. so called breakfast, slim pickins, one waffle iron that got gummed up and was unplugged and removed "done for the day" the guy said, didn't want to bother cleaning it. Reasonably priced hotel in a great location within easy walking distance of everything. Walls and celing are thin and you can easily hear guests above you and next to you. Beds are ok but not plush. Not enough parking spots in their lot for all rooms so check in early and walk. Free residential parking on streets between 5 pm and 8 am.

Everything was great about the hotel...cleanliness, staff, and price. The only thing that was a little odd is the rooms are close to the front desk and dining area. The rooms also have no view. For a short stay it was great for our family.

Can't sleep when the AC unit is loud and raspy. parking lot under the room window for the property next door (like, 5' away) bring in a lot of late night noise, too. you can have all the service in world, but if the place is noisy, what's the use?
