Although the hotel sits adjacent to the freeway it was actually very quiet. It was undergoing renovations and the smell of fresh paint was overwhelming. The room was comfortable and spacious, we would stay there again - AFTER the renovations are complete.

Was being remodelling into a Double Tree. Since it was remodelled it was very clean and everything was new including furniture, nice flooring, etc. Several things lacking however. Bare walls; odd furniture arrangement; small love seat replaced larger sofa--no other comfortable chairs to seat two. Only one hook in bathroom for towels. No shelving in […] bathroom. The toilet was plugged and they hadn't even bother to change the clock in the room (daylight saving started on Sunday and this was Monday). No comparison to the Hampton Inn. Won't be staying here again!

Worst hotel I have stayed in Salem area. The hotel is in a horrible location. It is hard to get in or out of the hotel and onto the street. The hotel smelled horrible. They were pumping some kind of spice smelling aroma in the lobby, elevator, and hallways. It was overpowering and really smelled BAD. It hit you the minute you entered the lobby. The […] hallways were dark, dimly lite and gave the you a not safe feeling. The room had stains on the carpet, the bed spread, and the leather couch. One night stay, double queen room. NOISY- hotel is at the corner of a freeway exit and our room was in the corner closest to the freeway. Next door is a "gentlemans club" and a Mcdonalds across the street. The hotel had what looked like a duct tape patch waterproofing one of the first floor windows. Three […] of us shared the room and after waking up at 3 a.m. decided to shower and check out as we had an eight hour drive back to the Sacramento area of Calif. We cleaned up and checked out at 4 a.m. Did not try their breakfast. Overall the hotel seemed a little rundown which was disappointing because we've stayed at the Beaverton, OR Phoenix Inn before and were impressed at that location. Return guest at this property. Always find it a good value. Easy location just off the freeway. They are pet friendly ($15). Rooms are clean and good sized. Last stay we stayed in a suite so extra large size. Breakfast is included and I would rate as average.

The hotel was great, room was very nice especially for the price, however the location adjacent to a strip club was not the best. The strip club customers filled up the hotel parking lot and many hotel customers had no place to park and were advised by hotel staff to park in no parking zones and were assured our vehicles would not be towed. Fortunately […] the vehicle was not towed away but we still felt there should be something done about not guests using the parking spaces so paying guests could not park. You get what you paid for. Clean room. Our room had a food takeout smell which after I left the window open for a night, the smell went away. TV is small, old CRT style. Warm continental breakfast with egg and sausage is available.

The Phoenix is not lush, yet it is decorated tastefully. The mattresses in the rooms were extremely comfortable. The ammenities like: work out room, complimentary breakfast, complimentary cookies and coffee in the evening, nice indoor pool with available outdoor tables/chairs and a laundry room, make it perfect when you are visiting long term. It was conveniently located within walking distance to supermarket, mall and restaurants. The staff was so amazing that I actually felt sad about leaving. There are a lot of hotels to choose from in Salem. We found this one to be loud (a lot of kids running the hallways up to 2:00 in the morning) and the staff to be somewhat unhelpful and surly.

Some of the staff at guest services were impatient, not friendly. Lots of issues with our room- coffe maker didn't work,nor the refrig, nor the remote. Noisy guests across the hall.

Flourescent lighting in the dressing area is very bad for makeup. The couch is very uncomfortable because the cushions are too deep. We had a hard time getting any fresh air in the room since there is no balcony. But the worst part was the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke in the hallways.

Last year my daughter moved to Oregon for college. I met her at the hotel for a 3 night visit. The hotel experience was great. We had booked a Double Queen Suite. The beds were very comfortable, especially compared to other hotel beds. The room had a 3 cushion leather couch and a table with 2 chairs which made it quite comfortable when we choose to […] hang out in the room all day. The room also had a refridgerator and a microwave which came in handy since we did purchase food to eat in the room. The hotel is less than 2 miles from a mall and theater. There is a Mc Donalds across the court and a Subway across the street. There are several other restaurants in the area and at the mall. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. On the day we hung out in the room all day we declined housekeeping and later we ran out of Kleenex. I then ran into the housekeeping manager in the hall. I requested some Kleenex and she delivered 2 boxes within a very short time. The breakfast was better than most included hotel breakfasts, both in taste and selection. There was a selection of hot and cold cerals, breads, muffins, eggs, sausages, biscuits and gravy and waffles. They had regular and decaf coffee, some teas, a couple of juices and milk. There may have been other selections, but those are the ones I remember. When I return to the Salem area, I will be staying at this hotel. In fact, after the 3 nights here, I went to Vancouver, WA and did stay at the Phoenix there. Read more

The hotel was just fine, especially for the price. Good value. Here are a few things I wish they would improve - but all things you can live with for a few days. - Bathroom vanity is in the main room. We had a double queen room, and the sinks are literally right in front of the first bed. The florescent light was kind of hard to handle being right there. - […] Bathtub was stained - No light in the entry hallway - makes it hard to look for things in your suitcase if using the entry way closet. - Breakfast was nice to have, but doesn't change from day to day. Hot options are an egg patty and sausage patty, make-it-yourself waffles, and gravy for biscuits. I'd be ok making an egg mcmuffin but there was no cheese. I'd rather have scrambled eggs than the egg patty. The sticky buns were good though. That's it, as I said all things you can live with, especially for the value.
