Sorat Agneshof Nuernberg - Nuremberg

I stayed midweek with my parents who are in their 70's and my 22 yo daughter. We were all comfortable and happy to have found this hotel. Pros: comfortable rooms, great breakfast, and location was ideal. Service was helpful. We were able to use the bus with no trouble to get to the Documentation Center and back. The hotel was in easy walking distance […] to the castle, Durer House, many museums, shopping, and market. Cons: Internet access requires rekeying in a login ID and password every time you pick up your device. It also lasts only 24 hours and then you need to request new access codes. Things we learned: they don't automatically provide wash clothes in 3* hotels in Europe. Jams were delicious. Hot tub was a quiet retreat. The A Durer restaurant next door required reservations but no one at the hotel or restaurant mentioned that (we stopped in for lunch but they were closed by 1 pm). We took a taxi to the hotel; the fare was approximately 10 Euro. Check-in was efficient and communication in English with the staff (Isabella) was excellent. The Christmas market is less than ¼ mile away from the Sorat. Our room was clean, charming but not very spacious. The shower was fine and the water pressure excellent. The pillows were the normal […] Euro type; not too much heft or fluff to them. Each half of your bed comes with its own comforter. There is no clock in the room. The door does not have a peephole for security. A metal key is used to access your room (yep, those still exist). Being located in the medieval part of Nuremberg, you will not have a view and any street noise will be due to the people/luggage/vehicles transiting on the cobblestone streets. The spa facilities are excellent; the sauna is set at 86 degrees Celsius and is complimented by a cold water shower system and a relaxation room with lounge chairs. The Jacuzzi is quite large. The spa hours are from 1600-2200. The friendly staff, location, amenities and intimacy of the Sorat are its strengths. The surrounding neighborhood takes you back in time. After having a drink with friends/staff at the Sorat’s lobby bar, we recommend having apple fritters with vanilla sauce and vanilla ice cream at the 14th century restaurant on the corner of the street after 2300 for 10 Euros. The location is good for exploring and the accommodations are very good especially considering the reasonable rates. The elevator only goes to the third floor so be prepared to walk up one additional flight if your room is on the fourth floor. The street is very quiet. The real bargain is the breakfast buffet at about 5 or 6 euros including eggs, fruit, […] breads, cheeses, meats, yogurt, coffee, pastries, and more. The desk personnel are friendly and helpful. This hotel is just down the hill from the castle and is an easy walk to churches, museums and shopping. The staff recommended the restaurant next door to the hotel and it was excellent. The furnishings are basic but well-maintained. The breakfast buffet was adequate and not included in the room rate. Nuremberg is a charming little walking city!

This hotel is very centrally located inside the old walls of the city just around the corner from Albrecht Durer's house and just below the castle and its fine gardens. There is no central air conditioning but there is a very nice jacuzzi and sauna in the basement.

I am so happy I booked my stay at the Sorat Agneshof. First, the location was very centralized so I could walk everywhere - to the train station, surrounding sites, a menagerie of restaurants, etc. The location is in the heart of the Old Town and I would recommend it to anyone who is sightseeing in Nürnberg. The maid on my floor was also extremely nice as she would see me coming down the hall and press the elevator button for me. Friendliness abounded at the Sorat Agneshof! I never had a chance to try breakfast because I was running around in the morning but it always smelled delicious. Yes, there isn't air conditioning in the rooms so some people might complain but the days that it rained made it cooler. We had a wonderful stay. We were there a year and a half ago but stayed outside the castle walls. This time we wanted to be closer to everything. We read other reviews regarding wether to take a taxi or walk. As we walked out the baunhof to take a taxi we saw the castle wall right across the street and changed our mind. The only reason I don't recommend this hotel is because I was charged for services I did not use -- breakfast and bar. There is no sign or any indication that breakfast is not included in the price of the room. I used it three days but was charged for 6 breakfasts (I have not even been there that long). The staff welcomed me warmly; however my reservation through Expedia was for 2 people in a room with two beds and they had reserved a single with one bed. In their book of hard copies it was correct, but in their computer system it was wrong. They were happy to try to fix it, but the choice of remaining rooms was limited. My son and I ended up in a […] smoking room on the ground floor, so the only view was of the small courtyard and it did smell of smokers. He smoked outdoors and the room was aired out quickly with the window open. Parking garage was tiny and cramped, with those odd European car lifts to stack the cars when it got crowded, which it did on my final night there. The staff was extremely kind, and willing to help me whenever I got confused or was unable to park the car properly. From what I saw of other hotels in the area, and the on-street parking habits of the residents and tourists, I was very fortunate to have parking at all. Breakfast buffet was wonderful, with a wide array of choices to fit different eating styles; fruits & veggies; breads & pastries; fish, meats & cheeses; eggs & sausage, yogurts & cereals. The only thing I would do differently is ask more questions up front; I had assumed some things were complimentary that were not, like the breakfast and parking. The internet really was free, but still I had a bill for 149 Euro ($198) upon checking out. Overall, a great place with wonderful staff. Close to historical sites, restaurants and shopping. This hotel is located WITHIN the walled city of old Nuremberg. It is a wonderful hotel, staff and location. My only difficulty was that, since we were traveling by train, the train station - located across the street from the main gate of the walled portion of the city - is on the diametrically opposite side of city from the hotel. When I booked this hotel I was a bit confused by the reviews and wasn't certain how close it was to the Christkindlmarkt. However, upon arriving I couldn't have been happier with the location. The staff is very efficient and competent, and they speak very good English. Once I made my way back in and found the garage everything else was perfect. Parking in the garage overnight was 13 euros. I recently went to Nuremberg for the Christmas Market and general touring of the city. Hotel Agneshof was only a 5 min walk (or less) to the central market where the christmas market was held. It was around the corner from the Nuremberg caslte, Albrecht Durer house and St. Sebald's church. It was only a 20 min walk to get from the hotel to the other […] side of town where the central train station was. Many restaurants located a few blocks away and the town had a lot of things to do and see. Definately get the Nuremberg card for use of the transportation system and entrace to many museums. We were forced to pick this hotel due to a convention in town that left limited choices. Much to our surprise it was nestled in the old part of Nurenburg surrounded by decent authentic restaraunts, several churches and plenty of history. Lovely hotel on a small side street about two blocks from the Albrecht Durer house. The staff were fantastic, especially when it came to recommendations about where to eat. They told me about a really great "Kneipe" about two blocks away that was extremely popular with locals, and served authentic Franconian food. I went there twice, and the place was […] filled both times ("Ye Alte Kuchen"). Food was killer (I had rack of lamb once and "Das Wilde" or venison the second time), and the beer was delicious and strong.
