"Recommend" is a tricky word. The pickings are pretty slim in Dexter, MO, so if you're looking for a place to crash for a night, this place will do the trick. If you're looking for a longer stay, or plusher accommodations, you might want to look around a little more.

The stay itself was fine. The room needed a few small repairs--towel rack by sink was missing (brackets were there-no bar). Towel shelf above commode was coming loose from wall in bathroom. Staff was polite and accomodating. Nice place for a short stay.

We were in town for a funeral. Beds slept well. Staff did their best to try to get all of our family as close together as possible and on the first floor. Breakfast at Penny's diner was good.

I grew up in Dexter and stayed here for a night to visit with family. I booked on hotels.com, however; while standing in the lobby to check out I heard the Front Desk Reception offer over the phone for cheaper a night. The bed was the hardest bed I have ever slept on in a hotel. There was mold in the shower and on the curtain. I was also very uncomfortable […] at check in. The receptionist just wrote down my Credit Card number on a small piece of paper for incidental fees. Any time we walked in the front of the building there were 3-4 men just sitting at the entrance. Staff was very nice & friendly. The hotel is a dated & cheaply furnished, economy mattress, and pillows & just a blanket on the beds. Old tv in the room, but had a lot of channels to choose from. Biggest complaint - there were body type hairs in the tub, which made me wonder what was on the bed & covers I couldn't see. . . .

When I arrived at my room, the room hadn't been cleaned. The bed was unkept and trash still in room. I called the front desk and told them about the situation, they said they would send someone to clean it. An hour later, my room was finally cleaned!! I was very aggravated!

I like to read in bed at night. Not possible in this hotel. There was a floor lamp by the bed; no bulb though, or even a place to plug it in. Stayed there 2 days - room was not cleaned while we were there. Had to go find toilet paper since what little we had ran out. Nice place, quiet at the right times, had a little glitch with the key cards the last night but quickly covered by staff, only beef is that the whole place is non-smoking and in inclement weather one would have to sit in the car for a smoke, otherwise nice, neat, clean, and back from the main drag on Bus.60.

clean room would of been great if all supplies had been refilled,no coffee ice machine not working and booked 6 weeks ahead of time and requested a ground floor for baby stroller and baby bed, had to carry everything to 2nd floor and was very disappointed to find out i would of received cheaper rates by calling hotel itself instead of booking online, […] will not book online again did not save anything. This was quite possible the worst hotel/customer service I've experience when booking through Expedia. My friend and I were traveling about four hours south for a wedding. As a member of the wedding party, we decided to stay in town at the bride's request. Due to the check-in time, we delayed our departure to make sure we wouldn't be in town too early. […] When we arrived at 4:30 p.m., the room we had been given "wasn't ready," so we were given a different room, which would have been fine except when we went to our room, it wasn't cleaned from the previous occupant. When I went back to the front desk, the very rude customer service rep just laughed and said that she had someone taking care of the room, but since she didn't have any where else to put us, we just had to wait. I explained that we needed to change to get ready for a rehearsal and she just looked away and mumbled, "sorry." My friend asked if there was a public bathroom she could use and she was ignored. Apparently, the hotel houses the Union Railroad workers, so there are a lot of people milling about at all hours of the day, and I guess this also causes room availablity issues, as we found out all to well. Overall the room was comfy enough, but there was a large black bug roaming around that we had to dispose of. The coupons for the diner were a nice touch, but it would be nice if you would get two for a two night stay. Either way, I'm not staying here ever again - I'll make the 30 minute drive from Sikeston. My room was nice and clean but the wireless internet did not work. The place seemed like it was in a bad neighborhood and there were a lot of people hanging around the parking lot. I was afraid my car would get broke into. If you do not need to stay in Dexter, I would recommend to stay in Sikeston or Poplar Bluff instead.

Hotel was clean and nice. Had issue with tv channels when switched rooms. But overeall was really nice place. Smoking rooms an issue. Would definitely stay again compared to other options for price and comp for diner next door!

We saw a gentleman outside before we went in. He told us not to stay.Go to-------motel down the street. We already had reservations, so we went on in. We were pleasantly susrprised that everything looked fine and we had a pleasant stay. We have no idea who the man was or why we stopped us. It was clean and the bed was comfortable.

The only problem we had with it was that there was no nightstand on both sides of the bed and the bed was hard but not any worse than a lot of small hotels we've stayed in. It was very quiet at night, clean and has a wonderfull diner next door.

This room is a great value for what they have to offer. They have all the amenities like a hairdryer, ironing board, iron, mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee pot.
