"An oasis in Times Square"
The location is ideal for someone planning to see Broadway shows. Times Square is a stone's throw from the hotel, but once inside the hotel, Times Square seems but a distant memory. The staff is fantastic: friendly, courteous and helpful, and the daily breakfast buffet in Rick's Cafe is superb. I visit New York once or twice a year and, until now, I've […] stayed in different hotels almost every time. Casablanca will be my destination from now on. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"You can't beat this place"
As others have said, rooms are small, but this is New York. Otherwise, like being in a little inn. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Complimentary breakfast and happy hour wine and snacks are delightful. Wonderful in this day and age to find a hotel that is better because of its service not because of its logo. A true gem!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nothing but good things to say"
Smallish rooms, but most are in the heart of NY. Was a nice hotel for the $$. Very hospitable and convenient location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This a great little hotel. It was clean, comfortable and the amenities really added value and created a great experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"It feels like home!"
We had a wonderful stay at Casablanca during a snowy weekend. The second floor sitting area with a fireplace, coffee (really good lattes) and snacks was a nice place to warm up when we came in from sight-seeing. The rooms were comfy and the bathroom was huge with a nice tub. Surprisingly, they come in halfway through the day and give clean towels and […] to clean the room a bit! They even have umbrellas to borrow while we were walking around in the snow...very handy The only thing we needed to ask for was a space heater since the room was a bit chilly (it comes with the charms of an old building). The heater worked great and heated the place up quickly. We'll return again and will rent a suite to accommodate our children as well. It's a great place to stay in the heart of the city. "An enchanting New York secret"
This was only my second trip to New York, the last being over 20 years ago. The Casablanca Hotel was recommended to me by a friend. She had nothing to say but good things. I am happy to tell that my experience was the same as hers. The service was better than any other I have had anywhere in the world. I felt that I was an honored guest in a personal […] residence in the heart of the city. The hotel was always spotless and secure. The architecture was cozy, tasteful and comfortable. I always felt safe and secure as a single traveling woman. The common area was a real treat as it was located on the second floor, away from public eyes and was available 24 hours...as if at home...no need for a minibar in the room. Stepping outside the door you are right in Time Square and surrounded by nice, neighborhood restaurants, theatres, drug stores and even a Starbucks just around the corner. The police department is just across the street. Most places are within walking distance, however, if a cab is needed the Casablanca doorman will get one for you. The size of my room was not large, but had ample room for a queen bed, nightstands, table and 2 chairs, chest of drawers, good closet and updated clean bath. I never watched the television and always had a hot bath when I wanted it. If you want a calm, safe, clean hotel experience with individual, private care, stay at the Casablanca in New York! "Your Personal Pied a Terre"
I live near NYC, but enjoy treating myself to an overnight stay occasionally. It always seems silly to splurge, so I pick an inexpensive spot and usually get what I pay for. This time, I decided to up the ante a tad...what a delight! The Casablanca could not be more convenient to Times Square, but the moment you pass through the double doors you are […] in a quiet, personal space. The smiling doorman, cordial desk staff and charming ambiance of the hotel are a perfect counterpoint to the bustling city outside. Rick's Bar on the second floor provides a comfortable spot to sit by the fire to chat with friends or fellow travelers, enjoy coffee or tea, early evening wine and cheese and in the morning a generous continental breakfast. Although I was there during a cold snap, it looks as though there is a petite patio outside Rick's which can be enjoyed in warmer weather. The room was adequate, NYC hotel rooms can be small, but it had a lovely bath, a spot to sit and the turndown service is always welcome after a long evening on the town. The decor is lovely, and the Casablanca's small size is quite homey. I will be back! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Overpriced/overrated in my opinion"
Pluses: 1) location is great if your are a tourist, 2) nice lounge with free coffee, tea, pastry and fruit 24 hours a day . . . also a decent Continental breakfast in the morning, 3) Great overall service and 4) well-maintained and clean. Negatives: 1) Rooms too small for money, 2) not a good hotel for a business traveler (no desk in rooms I had), 3) […] cold rooms (well, the two I had were), 4) small bathrooms with toilets one cannot sit comfortably on as they are wedged too close to the wall, 5) squeaky floors and thin walls and/or doors that result in hearing too much of one's neighbors (OMG . . . wonder what they heard coming from my room!) "BEST HOTEL IN NEW YORK CITY"
My first trip to NYC was WONDERFUL. The Casablanca Hotel on W 43rd in Times Square couldn't have been better, worth every penny. Everyday FREE breakfast, coffee, happy hour 5p-8p with wine, champange, frese fruit, cheese, newspaper. Beautiful hotel built in the 1930's very well maintained, the rooms were so clean & more room to move around than expected. […] All of the staff were GREAT, helpful, polite, requests were granted in less than 10 minutes each time.....I can't say enough! When ever I am in NYC again I will ALWAYS stay at the Casablanca. My husband and I went to NYC this past weekend. It was the first time for me and second for him. The location of the hotel couldn't have been more convenient! The water wasn't warm when I took my first shower. When I called the desk to report this (after completing the shower) they were up within 5 minutes and took care of the problem. "Great place for a getaway."
The Casablanca hotel is very much like a lot of the smaller European hotels. Staff was very nice and helpful. We had a queen room which was a average size for New York hotels. Bathroom was spacious with very nice amenities including robes and slippers. It was a little noisy from new York street noise and being close to 42nd street as it had window air […] conditioners. As it was October we were able to close the sliding window in front of the air conditioner which made a big difference. The room also had a ceiling fan. They had a large room on the second floor with coffee, tea, cookies and fruit 24 hours a day. They also had a wine, cheese, fruit and crackers served from 5pm to 8 pm which was very nice and a very adequate continental breakfast in the morning. We would stay there again which I think says it all. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Unfortunately we're limited to five stars...."
This place rates an easy 10 stars for service. We stayed 7 nights, and at no time did we feel anything but pampered and welcome. Though small, the rooms are beautifully decorated and appointed, the complimentary breakfasts are excellent, and the location can't be beat. One feature we enjoyed was the afternoon wine & cheese service, also complimentary, […] which really became very pleasant social sessions with hotel guests sharing tips on restaurants, shows, and whatnot with one another. Small hotel just off Times Square.Older building, but the service and friendlyness of staff more than makes up for it..Quality of cold breakfast as well as wine and snacks offered daily in lounge is exceptional. "Casablanca - The Friendliest Hotel in NYC"
My wife and I stayed here for two weekend nights. The staff was unfailingly helpful and friendly - with useful advice, but not at all obtrusive. What a find! I've been to New York many times and I don't know how I never knew about Casablanca. The service was terrific; everyone made us feel at home. I tell everyone, I'd come to NYC just to stay at the Casablanca. It's that SUPER! However, the hair dryer in our room (525, I think) needs to be updated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I was there with visiting family and a 2 year old and although only there for one night, I would go back (and plan to) anytime. The staff are the best and very helpful. Roll out the door onto Times Square! There is a parking garage almost next door. The room was larger than some others I have been in in NYC and lovely. "Comfy little place right in the middle of it all"
The reviews for the Casablanca were so good that I decided to try it out on our recent two night trip. We were pleased with our stay. It felt more like a bed and breakfast, just feet from Times Square. I did find the room to be a little too small for my liking. At the end of a long day, it would've been nice to lounge a little more in our room. The […] bathroom was a great size and perfectly clean. Loved the shower head, too! Breakfast was a great touch, along with the wine & cheese in the afternoons. I would stay here again, but I would prefer a suite if it fit in our budget at the time. "Great boutique hotel"
We were thoroughly pleased with our stay at the Casablanca. The staff were extremely helpful for first-time visitors to New York. "Perfect in Every Way"
I cannot think of one negative comment about this hotel. It was, as others have described, an oasis in the hustle and bustle of New York City. The staff was quietly attentive. The room was spotless. Staff are amazing and the services offered are fantastic. The only complaint my husband and I have, ( and this applies to so many hotels throughout the USA) is the airconditioning noise in the room, it is relentless. So noisy and as someone who doesnt sleep well, it really does create a problem. The room had an over bed fan which we used, but you cannot […] turn the airconditioer off and the windows wont open. "Brilliant customer service"
Superb hotel, staff are very helpful, rooms clean and nicely appointed. Special mention to the girls in Ricks who we're fantastic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you are looking for big, modern and impersonal then cross this hotel off your list. The Casablanca is small, individual and very friendly. It is all it claims to be and more. The service is impeccable with staff going the extra mile to make their guests feel truly at home. Situated in the hustle and bustle just off Times Square it is an oasis of […] calm. Free extras such as continental breakfast, coffee and pastries throughout the day and a wine and cheese hour are welcomed and enjoyable additions. Rooms are very comfortable although we did find the a/c unit noisy. This is, however, only a small criticism and the noise certainly does not detract from the overall quality of this small hotel. We highly recommend the Casablanca and will return when next in New York. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Our room was initially viewed as quite small (we got used to it though) but I suppose you have to compromise on something in NY. "Four Nights at the Casablanca Hotel NYC"
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were impressed with the level of service and and the staff's attitude towards us and all the other guests. This is not the largest hotel in New York and the rooms (all 48 of them) are not the largest you will stay in. However, the whole place is spotlessly clean, the quality of the fittings is excellent […] and everything works.... It's location, 50 yards from Broadway, means it will never be the quietest hotel in New York but it's location is the very reason most people stay there. If you get chance you must visit Tony's (the Italian restaurant next door) but reservations are essential. Don't make full use of the free pre-dinner nibbles, the portions are huge..... The door from the hotel lobby into Tony's is very handy and gets you around the poor unfortunates queuing for a table because the didn't make reservations. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
