We have previously stayed at the Caribou Lodge about 6 years ago-we liked it then-we still like it now!!.All the sraff were great.making us feel most welcome. The free bus pass up to the town centre is a good idea-particularly to a Scotsman like myself. The food-breakfast and dinner is good ,wholesome fare. When we next come back to Canada to visit family,we will most definitely stay ine Caribou Lodge!

Reviewed by L of Oxford on Apr 3, 2009
The Caribou has some of the friendliest staff I have ever come across in a hotel, nothing was too much trouble. The lobby, although having a sligtly dated feel is cosy and comfortable with a great fire to enjoy after a day on the slopes. I had a superior room with views to the mountains. It did not have a wardrobe but there was ample room in drawers and on the hanging rail for clothes. It was clean spacious and comfortable, and although opposite a lift (I was given the choice of rooms at check in) was quiet. The Keg restaurant serves good grill type food but Banff has so many restaurants give them a try! Breakfast was good, everything from toast to a huge buffet. There is a spa on site and complimentary use of a 35 person hot tub, very welcome after a day skiing. The Caribou is a 10 minute walk from the town, or guests can make use of free bus passes. I would certainly stay there again.

Started our holiday in Banff and stayed at Caribou Lodge. Very nice hotel. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was huge and a good selection. It was also very central to the main shopping and dining area which was referred to as 'down town'. So the hotel was approx a 5 min walk from the centre and away from the crowds. I would definately recommend it for all age groups. The hotel also had a nice bar and restaurant serving good food. Go for it! Its good.

A good clean, comfortable hotel within easy walking distance of downtown Banff. Although parking was said to be chargeable, it was actually complimentary during our stay and there was ample room in the underground car park. Good breakfast choice ranging from cereals and toast to the full works. The Keg (on site restuarant) is Ok if you are happy with grill type meals each night otherwise there is a wide range of other restuarants close by. Try the sister hotel (Pharmigan) for more English style cooking, Roast Lamb, Pork, etc.

We would have preferred a smooth, firm mattress to the pillowtops, and a lightweight summer spread to the thick comforter. The weather was warm and there is no air-conditioning, although a fan helped. Food at their Keg restaurant was very good and the hotel staff very helpful.

I was delighted with our stay at the Caribou Lodge. The location was perfect (a nice stroll to downtown) but a little bit away from the hussle and bustle. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, the atmosphere perfect (it fit the Rockies location), the food excellent in the Keg Restaurant (though a little pricey),and the beds delightful! We loved staying in Banff (an upscale, pretty and friendly community), well-located within the park with lots to see nearby. It's a wonderful destination. Please obey the rules and take care of the wild animals so they wil be around for many years to enjoy! Kudos to Canadian Park personnel for a beautiful park.

Reviewed by C of London, England on Jul 12, 2008
Having done some research on the internet for Banff hotels, we settled on the Banff Caribou Lodge as it had some glowing reviews and was a reasonable cost. The public areas are definitely worthy of the reviews, but unfortunately our room was not. Although clean, the decor was dated and, although we had paid for a premium room, space was extremely limited. There wasn't even space for a wardrobe! When I asked at the reception desk, a premium room just means that you have a window which looks out to the outside rather than to an internal courtyard like the standard rooms do. Nowhere (including on the hotels own website) was this difference mentioned. So be warned - especially if there are 4 adults in one room! Definitely disappointed.

Stayed 7 nights while skiing. Firstly the positive - It is well geared up for skiing. Good lockers, a Ski Hub booking office on site and ski bus stops outside the door. Beds were comfortable, room was warm (if a bit small), and plenty of hot water. On the down side - Servicing of room was a bit hit and miss - e.g. shampoo/conditioner (one small bottle) only replenished every other day. Typical North American bath - too shallow and no bathroom heating made having a bath an uncomfortable experience. Breakfast was buffet style with good selection but it falls into the trap of putting too much hot food out too early which goes cold by the time guests start to come in - only ate once because of this. Finally friends tried to contact during our stay and messages left were never passed on.

Three star hotels in major cities are less expensive and give better service. When we checked in, the staff did not give us the breakfast voucher included with our reservations. The power went out in the hotel during the morning and the staff was ill-prepared for this event. The breakfast buffet was closed with no sign indicating so (or instructions for alternative locations).
