The initial customer service at the front desk was not very pleasing. After speaking with the manager he made certain that the rest of our stay was satisfactory. I lost an necklace down the drain in the bathroom and the maintenance staff was able to retrieved it. The couches in the junior suite needs to be replaced. Our overall stay was very nice. Visited 1/15/2012. 3rd trip to Cancun.Liked most everything. Good english by most staff.Great front desk help.Beautiful atrium and outside grounds.Shade and sun everywhere you want it. More lounge chairs than we have ever seen. 6 elevators -3 on each side.Ramps and easy access to everything with few steps inside and out .Great food.Bus stop out front. […] First room was NOT quite what Hotels.com guaranteed. We wanted a full view of the water and we got a nice new suite but a view of palm trees ,their show pavilion, and some water. Victor at the front desk found a room on the 5th floor with a great view for the next 4 days (albeit an older room-no suite and a dead bolt that wouldn't close) but a huge front facing balcony--room 545. I believe floors 4-9 with room nos. 445 to 463,545-563,etc are all like this. Ferry to Isle of Mujeres is 5 minute walk from hotel. If you want to walk for long distances along the ocean you better get a hotel in the SE hotel zone area as this hotel and others on the NE hotel zone side have large rocks between their beaches.Also BEWARE of the huge steps in the show pavilion--easy to fall and break a bone. We enjoyed our stay. Everything was as described. Staff was very friendly. Beach was clean with plenty of chairs. Food was good and plentiful. It was our first all-inclusive experience and we were very satisfied with what we got for the price we paid.

First, the bad news. Our room was sub-par. It was a new room away from the construction going on, but, because it was so new, it did not have a phone, the safe broke twice, the window seal broke and so we had two sleepless nights with wind blowing noise. The room is booked as a junior suite, but is really more of a deluxe level. The beds were small. […] The show at night was sub-par compared to what we have seen at other hotels. On the positive side, the food was fantastic, service was very pleasant and efficient (except for fixing the window seal), beautiful pool and beach. We were there for 3 nights Great service great food & drinks, great pool area, very good entertainment at night !! for my opinion the beach line is a little small and with seaweeds . the room is nice we had a great seaview , but the bed is not very comfortable. overall we had a great time there. we are coming back for 2 more night very soon

The food is decent.. fairly close to everything... fun spot and pleasant staff

My husband and I went for a 4 day trip. Overall we were very satisfied with this hotel. The only negative thing to point out is the fact that the rooms are outdated and need remodeling. The furniture is old so you get that musty smell. Other than that we were super pleased. The food is good, the location is great. I was interested in a serene beach […] and it was excellent. The drinks... ehhh Ive had better. The beers were always a good choice. The staff was very nice and attentive. We loved our stay in this hotel. Food choice and quality was excellent. My 4 yr old looked forward to eating at the Albatross. We were a bit disappointed at the Asian restuarant Shangri-la, it was very average. Not sure, why one has to make reservations. The family entertainment every night was very enjoyable. The hotel staff were very friendly.

It´s a nice hotel for the price u pay, i was just a little dissapoint about the food and them need some a-c on some public areas but everithing else was nice,

We like to go to Cancun for a few days each summer for a little get away. This is the 2nd Riu property we have stayed in. The hotel is fine but I liked the Riu Cancun a little better for the location. The food was ok and the drinks were ok. The key is to get a bartender you like and request the better booze in your drink. After a time or two he will […] remember you and make the drinks the way you like them. We would just tip them and they got to know us by name. The bed in our room was not bad but I heard others complain about theirs being hard. It"s Mexico every bed I have ever slept in there is hard. The first night we were there the people next door had a party in their room and were very loud. We called the front desk but were told we could not move for 2 nights. We had ear plugs so we just used them and they did leave their room about 1 am and we never heard from them again. Also the thing that gets me in all the all inclusive hotels is that you have a short time (7 to 10 am) to make reservations for dinner. We could only get one night . There we only 5 other diners in the whole place. I know from other times that you walk by and there are only a few people in each place at a time. I just don't get it. The buffet food was mostly all the same stuff. The pizza at the little pizza bar was good and fun to watch the cook make. The beach was small but the pool was nice but a bit warm later in the day. We just went back and forth from the ocean to the pool. You can take the bus for a dollar to town and it's pretty quick. The bus stop is right out side. I don't think I would want to stay at this hotel for more than a few days. I think if you are staying for a week you should go down to one of the big resorts down on the rivera. We've been to ther Riu in other countries and this one is better than others. Before booking this hotel we did our research, read all reviews in different sites and decided to find out on our own. Overall if you're looking for a relaxing vacation this is the place to go. The hotel is clean, staff is super friendly and always looking to accomodate your […] needs. The structure of the hotel is very nice as well. The buffet is good, varied and we found it better than the "a la carte" restaurants. They put together certain activities for guest to enjoy and they also offer packages to go sightseeing or enjoy the night life in downtown Cancun. We didn't get to do any of this as we went for our wedding anniversary and wanted to rest and relax. There's wi fi in the lobby area only; but you get to check your e-mail and chat with your buddies along with a shot of tequila. Read more

we ended up having to catch cabs and buses all the time which definitely added to the overall cost of the stay. The hotel brand was fine, but I would prefer to stay at one of their sister properties closer to all the action. The lobby bar was pretty cool though.

The hotel was outdated, tired and depressing. I would recommend staying at one of the other Riu properties in Cancun.

Would recommend, beautiful, good prices, food was good, steakhouse was the best from the three restauraunts. The shangra la has excellent fried ice cream, delicious. Excellent customer service. The drinks were not watered down. The shows were very entertaining.

We stayed there for 6 nights including the new year's eve. VERY VERY BAD: The service, the attitude of the staff. Basically they could not care less about what you think and if your satisfied or not. Didn't like something? That's YOUR problem (I actually heard that). I tried to do reservations for dinner in one of the 5 restaurants of the hotel but […] they were all "booked" for 2 days, although they all looked pretty empty. Guess they don't really like to work. If you try to complain they could not care less. It's very hard to get a drink. The bar is always full and you first have to wait forever for a waitress and than another eternity for your drink. They DONT HAVE INTERNET ACCESS in the rooms, but they do at the lobby - wich is HORRIBLE - very very low speed. FOOD: It has a lot of options, but they are not very well prepared. Do not expect good food. My friends and I lost weight. The room you'll get depend on the kind of room you get. They did some renovation in part of the hotel and I god a "good"room, but my friends stayed in a room that looked like they were in the 80's. After all, this is a beautifull hotel, with good location, beautiful beach but is really, reaaaaaally not well managed. (BTW: The "gym"of the hotel and the "spa" also looks old and terrible). This hotel is really nice, in fact i could not fault it at all. The buffetts and resturants were delicious, breakfast was truely amazing. Pools and beach clean and always a lounge to sit in. Drinks were plentiful and the cocktails-well it was hard to work through the list there were so many to choose from. Room was clean and lovely view, my only complaint […] was maybe the bed was a bit firm but other than that there was nothing to complain about. Bus stops right outside hotel to get you most pladces. FUE MUY BUENA LA ESTADIA ,TODO EL PERSOAL QUE ESTUVO EN CONTACTO CON NOSOTROS FUE MUY CORDIAL, LA COMIDA EXCELENTE- TAMBIEN NOS GUSTO LA PLAYA TRANQUILA PERO CON ACTIVIDADES.-

A pesar de que algunos detalles no me terminaron de convencer (por el tipo de hotel y el costo) el balance general es bueno a secas, pueden mejorar mucho. Algunas habitaciones son nuevas (como la que me tocó a mi), pero a pesar de eso, en mi caso, el A/A dejó de funcionar en la mitad de mi estadía, la TV se me hizo muy pequeña, algunos canales no se […] veían y/o escuchaban bien (me hospedé un par de días antes en el Holiday Inn y era más grande la TV ahí, considerando que el costo es 1/3 comparado con el RIU). El trato del personal de meseros, limpieza, en el bar muy bien, amables, serviciales, sin embargo algunos de rango más alto, como en recepción te hablan y te tratan diferente, me imagino que por estar el hotel lleno en su mayoría de gente extranjera, pero esta muy mal. Los desayunos y comidas a pesar de tener mucha variedad todos los días es lo mismo, si te quedas muchos días terminas medio enfadado. Por la noche los restaurantes de especialidades valen mucho la pena... O hotel tem uma bela praia de água limpíssima, talvez a melhor dos tres RIU, porém sua extensão de areia não é muito grande ( a do RIU CANCUN é MAIOR) e tem equipamentos de velejar e snorkel de graça... porém é um pouco longe dos shopings e restaurantes, necessita do carro ou do transporte publico. uns 3 km de distancia A área das piscinas é maravilhosa, […] porem muitos hóspedes chegam antes das 7 e colocam toalhas para guardar as cadeiras... por várias horas ficam as cadeiras sem ninguem, o q acho que não deveria ser permitido, se vc chegar apos as 10, esqueça pois não terá lugar proximo a piscina pra ficar durante o dia... a comida é otima, muita variedade... especialmente o cafe da manha, porem um pouco repetitiva, no 3º dia já enjoa, poucas coisas novas são acrescentadas... e os 3 restaurantes de especialidades necessitam de reserva que pode ser feita entre 7 e 11 da manha e é bem dificil de conseguir vaga! nós não conseguimos em nenhum dos 3 dias que ficamos por lá... acho que peca um pouco também no atendimento da praia pois por ser um all inclusive, deveriam ter mais garçons servindo... na nossa area tinha apenas 01 e demorava uns 20 minutos pra chegar as bebidas... tinhamos que ir buscar, pois era mais rapido... mas no geral, pela praia linda, quartos novissimos e a comida do buffet compensa. talves essa questão de não ter um serviço rapido na praia seja até bom pois não vimos muita bagunça na praia, achei inclusive o ambiente do hotel bem familiar... Impossível conseguir agendar um jantar se o hotel estiver cheio. Ele é muito mal gerenciado como um todo. O Staff é antipático. Não volto nunca mais. Pra piorar: não tem internet nos quartos e a internet no saguão é horrível!!!

Gistum á tveimur hótelum, viku í senn í Cancun frá 1NOV-13NOV. Vorum á Riu Caribe frá 6NOV-13NOV og það var hrein paradís eins og fyrirsögnin gefur til kynna. Þetta er "all-inclusive" hótel og maturinn var mjög góður og kokteilar flæðandi um allt og þjónustufólkið ekkert nema brosið allan tíman. Sérstaklega verður að geta "entertainment" starfsfólksins […] sem sér um uppákomur á hótelinu og voru þau stanslaust að og sáu til þess að sem allra flestir tóku þátt og voru mjög góð að skapa skemmtilega stemmningu í kringum sundlaugarbakkan. Um nokkra veitingastaði var að ræða og var morgunmaturinn á Albatros vel útilátinn og gnægð þjóna til að sjá til þess að aldrei vantaði vökva í nein glös. Read more

Hotel excellent, rien a redire !!! personnel tres accueillant, confort idéal... Restaurant de bonne qualité avec beaucoup de choix Je vais y retourner des que possible.

냉난방이 잘되지 않는 로비와 처음 예약 했을때의 요구 사항들이 잘 지켜지지 않았고 샤워기가 고장나 있는방이었고, 촬영 때문에 좋은 뷰의 객실을 달라고 사전에 전달했음에도 안좋은 뷰의 객실을 주셔서 세번이나 옮겼답니다. 아시안 식당과 풀장, 바는 괜찮습디다.

Fuimos a pasar 3 días con una amiga y la pasamos increible, la verdad que no te dan ganas de salir del hotel, tenes todo ahi, diversión, espectaculos, la comida no se puede creer la buena calidad y presentación... el servicio es increible, la gente que trabaja ahi es tan linda, todos muy serviciales, muy amables, a cualquier problema le encuentran soluciones […] rápidas... 100% recomendable!!!!!!! tiene buena ubicacion ya sea para ir al centro de la ciudad o para la zona hotelera, nos gustaron sus instalaciones, estan comodas, el precio se me hace justo; hay actividades para toda la familia, volveria a hospedarme en este hotel.

Le falta mantenimiento y remodelacion a las habitaciones y en especial al baño.

Para um hotel cinco estrelas, eu sinceramente esperava mais. O serviço não foi ruim, mas tudo que era servido era feito pra servir multidão. Não tinha como pedir um drink mais elaborado ou preparado com mais cuidado, era aquela coisa batida no liquidificador. Tive q pedir para trocar os travesseiros, porque apesar das fronhas limpas, eles cheiravam […] a suor antes de serem usados. A vista era bonita (efetivamente ocean view) e havia quatro opções de restaurantes na janta. O problema é que 3 deles exigiam reserva, que só podia ser feita pessoalmente entre 7 e 11 da manhã, mesmo coisa que exigem nos cruzeiros. Comi em 2 dos reservados e gostei (mexicano e steak house), porém também nada muito elaborado. Se alguém me perguntasse, sugeriria que tentasse ficar achar outro hotel, especialmente pra tentar algum em Playa del Carmen em vez de Cancun. Fica bem mais perto dos passeios e parques, além da ilha paradisíaca de Cozumel. No geral, o hotel valeu o valor pago, por ser all inclusive (café, almoço e janta eram bons). Lembrando que para fazer os passeios partindo de Cancun, perde-se geralmente 2 h pra ir e mais 2h pra voltar... portanto, considere as opções de Playa del Carmen. Read more

me Hospede en este Hotel por Primera Vez con mi familia, no es la primera vez que estoy en un Riu y creo que de la cadena este es de los mas Descuidados, en el check in todo muy lento poco personal, las habitaciones fueron en el piso 3 y la unica vista que tenia era de las hermosas palmeras y un lote baldio desde el balcon. las habitaciones muy sencillas […] nada extraordinario,pero tampoco quiere decir que estan feas, la comida como cualquier bufette hay de todo algunas cosas ricas otras no, pero o.k en general le daria un 8.. las instalaciones son bonitas la alberca esta linda y comoda la playa un poco con plantas que arroja el mar pero bien en general le daria un 8 tambien, la atencion de los emploeados no es muy buena como esperarias en otro Riu, pero no me puedo quejar, lo recomendaria para familias el area de teatro es ameno y los ninos se divierten que es lo importante... Vietimme Riu Caribessa viikon joulun ja uuden vuoden välillä. Hotelli oli ajankohdasta johtuen täynnä, mutta kaikki oli niin hyvin järjestetty ettei se haitannut. Hotellin huoneet ovat vanhoja ja siitä johtuen hieman nuhjuisia, mutta ne pidetään todella siisteinä. Aula ja muut hotellin tilat ovat huomattavasti edustavampia. Huone (junior-sviitti) oli […] tilava ja siellä oleva baarikaappi todella kätevä. Ruokailut oli hyvin järjestetty ja ruoka oli todella hyvää sekä buffetissa että tilausravintoloissa. Tilausravintoloiden varauskäytäntö oli omituinen (aamulla seitsemän ja yhdeksän välillä pitää käydä varaamassa) mutta näin se on kuulemani mukaan myös muualla. Varaukset oli helppo saada ja kävimme kaikissa ravintoloissa. Ainoa moitittava on allasalueen ruokailu, joka oli aika kehno, mutta vaihtoehtona oli aina ruokailu buffetissa, joten se ei haitannut. Uuden vuoden aattoon hotelli oli panostanut tosissaan, ruokailu oli todella hieno ja ohjelmaa riitti aamusta iltaan. Allaalue oli hyvän kokoinen. Paikka täytyi käydä hakemassa heti aamulla aurinkoisena päivänä, mutta jälleen kerran, näin se on kaikkialla muuallakin. Henkilökunta oli todella ystävällistä ja avuliasta.
