Our room had two minor issues which we reported at checkout. (Refrigerator did not work well due to broken seal on door and toilet needed a little tightening) I will trust the hotel will address these maintenance issues. The suite was clean, comfortable and pleasing for our stay. This is always our first choice of accommodations, so much better than a standard room. The Hotel has simple elegance and a top rate, friendly and efficient staff.

The staff were courteous and helpful. The room was bright, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent value. An enjoyable stay all round.

I am very disappoinsted. The rooms are NOT sound proof!!!! I can hear people's conversation from the other room and middle of the night, very disturbing noise were made by one couple and they left like 7am in the morning!!!!! I could not get any sleep and i had to have my ear phones on to avoid the noise!

smell fresh paint every day.
It was a great stay, as I have stayed there before so I knew it be very comfortable. The room we booked was not available so we got upgraded to a suite which was fantastic.
This is my second time staying at this hotel. Everything is still as good as last time. Highly recommend.

"Under Construction & Lots of Hookers"
The hotel smells of paint and glue from construction. The so called restaurant is very over priced and lacks very much in food quality and service. It seems to be a very popular place for hookers and drug connections...take this one off your list!

Great value for an extended stay. Working long hours I only needed a hotel/motel that was clean and quiet. This hotel is close to major businesses and transportation arterials in North Toronto. This is not a prestige property but it is great value!

I have stayed at the Howard Johnson's in Markham a number of times. I have always found the front desk staff efficient. Parking is plentiful, free and convenient. The rooms and hotel are a bit worn and tired but still in good condition. The cleaning staff seem a bit weak but still reasonable. I did once have to stay in a smoking room because there […] were no non-smoking rooms available, and the bedspread had a small burn hole right through it. The hotel is a bit off the main streets. There isn't really much within walking distance. I have only been to the bar/restaurant once to order some beer for my room so I can't say much about it. The attraction of course is the price which is very competitive with the other options in the area. I go there fairly often and consider it a very good value for the money. But it isn't the best choice if you are trying to impress that special lady or if you are wealthy enough that paying more doesn't matter to you. Read more
"Good enough for me~~"
The first impression was... ok, no frill, another 3-star HoJo... Been there, done that. Carpet at corridor had musky smell. So a little worry there at the beginning... From there, indeed, it was pretty good stay overall. Room was clean enough, front desk was prompt, room cleaning service during four day stay was good enough again. We were there for […] sightseeing, so didn't get to check out pool or anything else, but I am sure they are fine, though not spectacular... I am a budget-minded but smart (I think) traveler so this hotel was a good fit for me, well balanced between price & cleanliness. Didn't see any bedbug, which is a big issue for me these days. For your tip, this hotel is in the middle of an office park, so you must bring your car. Then drive for 10 minutes & park your car @ a close subway station -Finch- for 5 bucks all day during week, or free on weekend and take half-an-hour subway ride to go to downtown. Easy as that~!! "OK but needs Bedroom up keep."
We received an OK room but needs repairs.Ceiling peeling in places. Found previous food crumbs from past guests on rug near beds. Over all if you need a place to stay during a function, OK. Pool pretty good.

"Cheap but not cheerful"
The front desk staff was more than helpful, upgrading me when my room wasn't ready and loaning me (I put down a refundable $10.00 fee) an internet cable as there was no WIFI in my room. They were also helpful on Day 2 when housekeeping had not been to my room by 4:30 pm. My room was a King-smoking and it was desperately in need of a makeover from top […] to bottom. The carpet was worn, curtains tattered and torn, walls and ceiling dirty and yellow and the paint was peeling on the bathroom ceiling. I had to stay as my reservation was non-refundable. The restaurant is extremely overpriced so I didn't bother. I wasn't there for a vacation and thankfully was out of my room most of the day. Read more
"You get what you paid for -"
The overall condition of the hotel/room is as expected for the range and price. However, upon closer inspection we found that the comforter, being in a smoking permitted room, had burn marks all over. The bathroom was not cleaned properly and had urine on the seat of the toilet as well as the floor. Upon letting the front desk know of this, they advised […] that they had no other rooms for the night to offer us and but advised that they would have someone clean it in the morning. We asked for disinfectant wipes for the time being and was first asked by the front desk to come up and retrieve the wipes ourselves. Only upon the sound of our hesitation did the front desk staff offer to bring it to us. This makes you wonder what else in the room was not :properly" cleaned. And on a side note, we were NOT compensated for this. Furthermore, for the two nights we were there, we were awoken at around 3AM by someone trying to open our door. Though the door was locked and latched, the attempted intruder managed to unlatch the door and if not for the lock, would have been able to enter our room. Read more

Good: new renovation everything is new and modern. Bad: new renovation smell.
"Decent hotel for business trips"
Booked this place for three nights, the front desk staff was quite friendly, and generally helpful. The location of the hotel is somewhat awkward, and without a car you will need to walk roughly 15-20 minutes to nearby stores, which was not fun in windy and rainy days.

"Great pet friendly hotel"
Fantastic hotel. Very comfortable bed and great bathroom. I travel with my dog and the hotel is very pet friendly and doesn't overcharge for pets like other hotels. Very quiet and clean. I need a hotel every few weeks in Toronto and I will be definitely going back there

Room had 1 Queen bed and was in mint condition after reno. Great value. Close to highway and plenty of restaurants and shopping. Hotel outside of room was bit dated but not of concern. Decent swimming pool and hot tub. Sauna was way too hot. Fire alaram went off a once each day but not for long. Minor inconviniece.

Hotel was average but price was reasonable as we needed somewhere to stay as son is in the hospital Hotel is under going renovations which is why the the hotel is only getting an average. Our first room was in much better shape. The second room had the fire alarm hanging from the ceiling and was missing a mirror and lamp that the other room had.

"Pleasantly Surprised!"
It was a nice surprise to find such a reasonably priced room that was so nice.I understand they are under renovation and it will be really nice when complete.I do think they should check the work of the renovator a little more thoroughly as our toilet was not level and rocked back and forth noisily and the paint job was rather funny.You could see the […] touch up around the doors and knobs were a different colour.Should maybe just painted the whole door!The shower was wonderful and I hope to see more hotels move in the direction that Howard Johnson is going with them!Overall a great experience!Thanks!
