Fine hotel for quality price! Clean room, air conditioning, with a blow dryer! Good location....and a clean pool for cooling off! Breakfast next morning (cereal, toast, and juice) is also included! Can't beat that service for the price! Friendly staff!

I was embarrassed when I walked in and saw the room, I was afraid to put my bag down .I had booked this for myself and family members. It was clean!, but very run down and not well maintained. We stay at the Howard Johnson in Redding quite often. It isn't a 5 star hotel, but it is always clean and the service is good. For the price, I definitely recommend it.

This place was a joke. I got in at almost 11 pm with my mom and 5 kids, we rented 2 rooms. When I got in my room with 3 of my kids I went to take a shower and the carpet under my heater was compliantly soaked and I had not even started any water yet but I ended up with very wet socks. After trying just to take a shower there was not even enough hot […] water just to wash my hair. So we tell the office and they offer a new room how ever the new room was very smelly and the beds looked like they were 40 years old and bowed way down in the middle. I was so tired after driving for 12 hours I just went to bed. My moms room was fine besides the fact that the heater didn't work for my mom and 2 small kids had to bundle up just to stay warm. The only problem with the stay was the breakfast selection . the Fair was very limited for those that have diabetes and glueton alergies.. other than this the rooms were clean the neighborhood was quiet and restful I will return to this motel again..

The hotel was older, however the room was clean and comfortable. The front staff was very nice and friendly. The remote for the TV wasn't working and he came right down and fixed it. The fee for the pets was very reasonable as well. I will be heading this way in July and will likely stay here again.

I wouldn't ever stay their again, The room smelled, Carpet had al lot of big spots, Bed spread was spotted, Bug in bath tub and the white bath towels were suppose to be white were more brown with a lot of spotting. This room was so disgusting we couldn't sleep, so we just left NEVER to come back again.!

This place, although convenient to the Interstate and restaurants, was SO filthy! I guess you get what you pay for - thought the deal was too good to be true. Neighborhood was okay, I never felt insecure, but I did pull out my own sheets and pillow just so I could sleep (then I accidentally forgot the pillow...oh well). While the sink, toilet, etc., […] looked clean, one look at the inside of the room's front door around the handle made me realize how unsanitary the room must really be. Filthy! I was dead tired and it was pouring rain or I would have left and found another location. Old television, broken remote. Very nice people who run this little hotel. Nice Pool, quiet and the breakfast was avaliable and it was pretty good. The room was clean with plenty of towels and soap and shampoo good because I forgot to bring mine. For the price it's a good quality no problems checking in or out. I will use them again.

First room had bad air conditioner and unfinished wall repairs. Replacement room was adequate and worth the $. good ac, bathroom updated and queen bed w/ 3 pillows. wifi, cable & lots of parking. would do again.

Maid service was below average. I stayed 1 week which I had to go to the office on two different ocasions to request towels because of no maid service. Bathroom exhaust fan did not work. Continental breakfast was limited to coffee and doughnut with no selection.

The good news: The bed was wonderful and we enjoyed a good nights sleep. The bad news: The continental breakfast was very unappealing...very weak coffee, juice that tasted like colored sugar water and cheap bread products.

Shower curtain had been used for a jungle jim and the shower leaked. Three guests in the double - double room and only two towels. The toilet had a flushing issue that was easy to overcome but annoying. The property has seen much better days but was fairly quiet despite being close to I-5. Wasn't the best place I've ever stayed at nor the worst.

overall the hotel was fine. We enjoyed a dip in the swimming pool. It was nice and clean. The rooms were clean. Bathroom too. The beds were rock hard but we kind of prefer a firm mattress. My only problem with this stay was when I checked in the manager had breath that was so bad I could smell it from 6 feet away and it could peel paint. It was a dump! Falling apart and old. I had to get assistance to even turn on the shower as the knob was so difficult to pull away from the wall. The sink was cracked, the faucet was crooked. There was no way to call the front desk so when I had concerns about the shower, I had to get dressed and walk down to the office. In my past experience, Ho Jo is a chain at the same standard as Days Inn or Best Western. My stay at the Ho Jo in Redding, Ca. changes it completely. It is very dilapidated and should not bear the name Howard Johnson (let along Howard Johnson Express). I am removing Ho Jo from the list of hotels that I will stay at.

I found the room to be very warm to hot when I came in. The AC was not on and around 100 degrees outside. The light in the bathroom had a heater connected to it and hot air blowing on you with the light on. The walls had repairs both good and bad repairs. We had to get another hotel. It was the worst place I've ever seen. The service was terrible, the room wasn't ready and the check in clerk was very rude. We stayed at the Hilton down the road and the rooms were clean and the service was great. I would never stay in a Howard Johnson again and don't recommend it.

From the photos on the internet it looks clean and well kept. In person it is outdated and run down. The lobby smelled horrible like feces. I was not impressed. I guess that is why it is priced as so. Next stay will be anywhere but here. Hilltop drive hotels are much nicer.

The hotel does not match the actual condition described in the online advertisement. This is a run-down hotel with deteriorating building and equipment. Towels are too old. The hotel is no match for the Howard Johnson brand name.
