You can't get any closer to the Old City than this hotel, which is directly opposite the wall near the Damascus Gate. But come nightfall (which was early when I was there in the winter) the neighborhood completely shuts down. Aside from a few small falafel joints, the only option for eating is the hotel restaurant. The included breakfast was quite good, […] but the dinner buffet was very overpriced at nearly $30 and mediocre at best. If you are an early riser and content to have dinner and call it a night early as well, this very nicely maintained and professionally run hotel may be the place for you. I also enjoyed the opportunity to experience the Arab part of the city. But if you want nightlife or multiple dining options or other amenities, look elsewhere. Read more

Neat, clean, well maintained, excellent staff and literally right across the street from the Old City of Jerusalem. Excellent value for money. If you are looking for a pool/spa/disco kind of place, then this is the wrong hotel for you. But thats not why you are going to Jerusalem, right? The staff couldn't have been friendlier, the location was really good, and the hotel itself was just fine. The only downside: The WiFi for the rooms wasn't working, and didn't get fixed until the last day of my stay (in all fairness, I was there over the Christmas holiday which may have held things up). It was inconvenient, but at least the WiFi in […] the lobby worked fine, so I had a connection. But it would have been nice to have had it in my room. That being said, the staff couldn't have been better; in fact, the cleaning staff noticed it was a bit cool in my room and on their own brought in an additional heater for me, which was really appreciated. The desk staff made the arrangement for a taxi to pick me up at 1.45 a.m. to get to the airport in time, and couldn't have been nicer. The location, close to Damascus Gate, was fabulous. I was close to the Old City, the light rail, and the Arab bus station (to get to Bethlehem). Plus there were lots of restaurants and shops and sellers close by to get food, bottled water, etc. Convenient. Others have written that it's dated and needs repair; I didn't see much evidence of that. It's a good, solid, basic hotel. Overall, very pleased and would stay there again! Read more

The hotel was very nıce and the staff was very helpful. The only real ıssue ıs the surrıoundıng neıghborhood. It ıs best not to walk out alone late at nıghtç It may be safe, but ıt doesn't feel all that safe.

This hotel is in a great location to explore the Old City. The staff could not do enough to make our stay comfortable and made us feel very welcome. The room was clean and comfortable. Light meals available any time any where - very convenient. Good breakfast.

I stayed at the the Tulip for just one day - with just a short time to begin to explore Jerusalem. The hotel is in a brillian location, in the Islamic quarter. Buzzing outside, but tranquility once you climb th esteps to the first floor. Amazing views of the city wall to the front, and views of Gordon's Calvary (Golgotha) to the rear. I could hardly […] believe it when I saw it! Depending on your interpretation of archaeology, this is probably the closest hotel to the point where Jesus died. Very close to the beautiful Garden Tomb. Service was fine. Lounge very pleasant and food very pleasant and good value. Fre Wifi meant I coudl skype home and show them the views. Hôtel parfaitement situé, près de la porte de Damas qui donne un accès immédiat à la vieille ville. Acceuil chaleureux et personnel très serviable. Pour se faire conduire à cet hôtel demander le Golden Walls et non le tulip in.

Das Hotel Golden Walls liegt direkt am Damaskustor und damit ideal für alle, die auf eigene Faust und zu Fuß die Altstadt besuchen wollen. Auch Westjerusalem (Mea Shearim, Yafo Str., Ben Yehuda Str ) ist zu Fuß noch gut zu erreichen. Die Lage außerhalb der Mauern hat den Vorteil, dass man nicht mit dem PKW durch die Altstadtgassen irren muss. Das Hotel […] liegt im arabischen Viertel. Tagsüber und zur Feierabendzeit ist ringsherum viel los, Läden, Grillstuben etc. Am Abend ist das aber alles geschlossen und eher unbelebt, also wer noch um die Ecken bummeln und Essen gehen will, wird wie wir enttäuscht sein. Dafür, dass eine vielbefahrene Straße direkt vorbeiführt, ist es überraschend ruhig. Wunderschön: die Dachterrasse, auf der man tagsüber im Schatten sitzen kann, aber vor allem Abends direkt oberhalb der beleuchteten Altstadtmauern. Service mit Geränken und kleinen Speisen. Das Hotel ist gut geführt, leidet aber unter den Reisegruppen, die 90% der Gäste auszumachen scheinen. Im Frühstückraum ist praktisch alles für Gruppen reserviert, wenn die dann (sehr früh) durch sind, wird durchaus nicht sauber gemacht und neu aufgedeckt. Das Frühstückbuffet entspricht nicht den Erwartungen an ein Hotel in dieser Preislage bzw. dem, was wir in vergleichbaren Hotels in Israel geboten bekamen. Das landestypische Angebot an Salaten etc., aber keine besondere Vielfalt, zum Teil nicht richtig frisch. Dass es nicht nur keine Obstsalate, sondern nicht mal frisches Obst gibt, was im Land an jeder Ecke wächst, sondern Konservenfrüchte, ist schon arm. Statt frischem Gebäck oder Kuchen nur geschmacklose Fabrikware. Insgesamt lieblos. Abendbuffet hatten wir nicht gebucht, wenn es wie das Frühstück war, haben wir nichts verpasst! Trotzdem würden wir das Hotel wegen der schönen Lage wieder buchen. Read more
