Thank you hotel Athanor for a great stay. Our room was comfy and clean. The hotel is centrally located. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would stay there again.

We booked relying upon their representation of wifi in the hotel, but in actuality, only one room had wifi. Although hotel is in great location with clean and comfortable room, there is minimal hotel staff available to assist guests. For the price, we were quite disappointed and would not recommend it.

Excellent location in the heart of the town center. Warmest, kindest front desk staff at all times, day or night. Be prepared, free public car parking is 3 short blocks away. TO UNLOAD LUGGAGE: park on the street on same side as hotel entrance, only 2€. Our street-facing room was immaculately clean. Wonderful views, but be aware, you light sleepers. […] Rooms facing the street will be very noisy at night during mid and high season. For us, not a problem during low season. Breakfast buffet of assorted breads, pastries, hams, cheeses, vegetable ratatouille, hot sausage is modest, but generous, and worth the pre-pay. Needs stronger, hotter coffee. Read more

We stayed here while traveling through the Burgundy wine country. Great old hotel with clean rooms. Staff was very accommodating and even made us a reservation at a restaurant in located nearby. Plenty of shops and restaurants located within easy walking distance. The hotel manager told is about the open air street market, every Saturday, that went […] right past the front door. Hotel Athanor is located near the Hotel Dieu and also from the Republiwue parking lot, which makes it very easy to explore Beaune by foot, or. Burgundy by car. Rooms were nice, staff was very helpful, we had a great experience. The hotel is fabulously located in the town of Beaune. We arrived by train and were able to walk from the train station to the hotel with no problem. Also, there is no way to get lost in Beaune. Great location in a lovely village. Walking distance to everything. Unfortunately the room was tiny. Our twin beds were side by side *nd couldn't be moved apart tbecause they were in an alcove. Great location in Beaune. Room was small but had everything we needed for our stay. Bed was very comfortable. We had expensive road bikes with us and the hotel was very accomodating in letting us put the bikes in a locked room overnight.

The hotel has an amazing location!! So if you don't mind an old and small room and rude staff then this is the place for you. The first day we had a great front desk staff member who was friendly and helpful. The rest of our stay a woman was in the front desk. She raised her voice at us while scolding us about making a taxi wait! She was extremely rude […] to the point that it brought me to tears. She was mocking the way we talked with other staff and throwing things around making obvious she disliked us and maybe even her job. Furthermore, she refused to call a taxi to take us to the train station so we had to carry our luggage on our 20 min walk to the train station. Hotel location is very good, in central Beaune. However, the room was extremely small, and the bathroom was probably the smallest I've ever stayed in... The pictures shown on the websites are probably just for the suite, not the regular room.

The location of the hotel is super - very close to the restaurants, shops and tasting rooms in town and also the hiking trails through the vineyards around Beaune. We were happy with our room up under the eves and found the old spiral staircase and its low ceiling charming, if a bit problematic when arriving and leaving with our luggage in tow. Located very close to all the major tourist sites in Beaune. Convient to many restaurants. As we arrived late Saturday parking on the city streets wasn't a problem but could be on weekdays as meters only allowed 3 hour parking.

I NEVER write bad reviews but would like to warn people from making the same mistake we did. We chose the hotel for location and charm, based on reviews and the hotel website - our room had the charm of a jail cell. We booked a suite which was supposed to have exposed beams and wood walls and yet were put in two adjoining rooms, white walled and paper […] thin with hands down the most uncomfortable beds we have experienced in our many, many travels in Europe. If you're looking for a place to crash without amenities you'll be fine - but there are cheaper rooms available in Beaune that offer the same without the frustration of knowing you've overpaid. Aside from the one very nice front desk agent the service was surly and upon checkout we were unable to to pay cash as they could not make 38 euro in change - location is very good though Beaune is so walkable, again, find a cheaper place to sleep and spend your time exploring. I think the meats offered at breakfast were several days past their prime - a huge disappointment. On a high note, local eaterie Le Goret is just up the ally behind the church and it was epically fantastic - make a reso, brush up on your French and plan on staggering back to Athanor with a very happy stomach. We must have been the first to stay (Sept 2012) in a newly refurbished room - it could do with a wardrobe - or at least some coat hooks,and a toilet roll holder. Even though it says all rooms are air-conditioned our 'attic' room had a fan but no air conditioning so it could be difficult in mid summer. Central location, helpful staff and room was comfortable and good value for money. Excellent location to sample local wine by car or bike. Staff spoke excellent English and gave us a wonderful recommendation for dinner at Le Fluery, booked taxis when we asked and advised on free parking only 200m away for the days we spent in Beaune.

We had a room on the ground floor at the adjacent to a passage way which lead to an outside bar. The passing traffic of people made it very noisy until the bar closed. Early morning was also very noisy with bin removal and general working noise. The hotel is perfect for visiting Beaune .

Our room had no air conditioning. Said it had WiFi but was extremely poor quality. Beds had no top sheets, just a doona- good for winter not ideal for summer.
