"Relaxing, Accommodating, Therapeutic"
Rooms are spread across the resort with wonderful, short walks and serene atmosphere in every direction. Wildlife and local vegetation is thriving, as well as their enjoyment in accomplishing your 200% satisfaction with everything they do. The Bell Staff is available to take you anywhere on the resort, or pick you up and are extremely friendly and welcoming. […] The Grounds are Beautiful and Relaxing and mystical. The golf course is surrounded in beauty, as with each and every room. They are technologically savvy, and respond quickly to text messages set up at your initial visit with their smiling, friendly, warm front desk and concierge personnel. Their drinks at the pool(s) are refreshing, and everywhere you go, there is a smile on the staff and visitor's faces. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"bad golf experience"
The hotel is beautiful and the Pueblo I was in was great. Unfortunately we ran into a problem that was not handled well. On the golf course we ran into a 5 person group that wouldn't let us thru so a 4 hour round turned into a 5 hour + round. We called the pro shop and spoke to a very nice assistant but no help was forthcoming and no offer of compensation […] for this was offered. As a business I would have gone out of my way to make up for messing up an expensive round of golf. Maybe I am sour grapes over missing my next tee time but nevertheless they should have at least offered a discount. Bad PR. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Treat yourself to the spa, it is wonderful. If you plan on hanging out at the pool get there early....there are not many lounge chairs. The spa pool is better than the main one.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room was beautiful - the nicest of four hotel stays for that particular vacation. Our spacious casita and its wooded deck were private, but located inconveniently as far from the main lodge as possible on a rather large property. I worried less about gaining weight on the trip because I was doing a lot of walking to the lodge and its pool and back. […] The lodge pool was not clean - there was scum floating in one corner and pieces of food floating here and there and lots of children in swim diapers. We were located near the spa and its pool but my eleven year old daughter wasn't allowed to swim in that pool since she wasn't 18. We made other plans the last day so we didn't have to use the pool. "Beautiful dessert oasis with fabulous spa"
The boulders is beautiful with spacious and very nicely appointed rooms. Staff were friendly and courteous and when a ride was needed they were there in seconds it seems. The spa is large beautifully appointed and not over done -- truly elegant. Spa staff were very nice and service excellent. Only disappointment was the food. We arrived a little after. […] 10 pm and wanted a light dinner. Only thing available from room service were a choice of three plastic wrapped sandwiches. At lunch we waited over 50 minutes to be served a mediocre bowl of soup and salad. Breakfast was the best meal. The grounds are exquisite with vast varieties of cactus. Beautifully maintained. "Upscale resort with excellent service"
Room (casita) was beautiful. Very peaceful. Don't go with premium margarita at mexican restaurant. No better than the standard one at half the price. Golf course looks spectacular but I did not play.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall it was a good weekend. We got very little rest Saturday night as the result of loud group in a near by unit. I call security twice but the noise did not end until the group broke up over an hour later. This was around 3am. The resort is very nice and in a great surrounding.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Service - Great Hotel"
Everything was great at this resort. But what really struck me was how well taken care of we felt. Whoever is running this place has done a great job training the staff to anticipate your needs and take ownership over meeting them. Here is an example that told me everything I needed to know about this place. We were at the Grill for lunch and we ordered […] two different drinks. When they arrived, they looked the same, but were in two different type of glasses. The waitress did not know which was which and she had to ask the bartender. When the bill came, we were given one of the drinks for free because of the confusion. That a resort would make amends for what was really a non-event was remarkable to me. Room was great. Beautiful golf course. Just top notch. (I have traveled a bit and stay at this type of resort.) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Perfect Girls Getaway!"
We just came back from a 4 night stay at the Boulders. We enjoyed the 4 nights in a casita (basically a condo) that had 2 bedrooms (kings beds in each) and 2 bathrooms. Also a full kitchen, washer/dryer, patio and family room. If you are looking to stay at more of a condo rather than a hotel, i would definitely stay at the Boulders. We made breakfast […] every morning and drank wine by our fireplace every night. There's a great grocery store about 5 minutes south called AJ's and we went shopping there a few times. Also, there are many restaurants and quick places to eat (starbucks and such) nearby too. We ate in Kierland one night at Mastro's Ocean club which was about 15 minutes away. Another day we drove into Phoenix and downtown Scottsdale. About a 45 minute drive. The hotel is a little further out so just know that if you choose this hotel. we didn't mind being further out because the amenities were amazing. The spa is truly one of the best I have ever been to. There are 4 pools on the property. we went to the spa pool everyday. we stopped at the resort pool which was nice, but we wanted more of a kid-free zone so we opted for the spa pool. I don't really have anything bad to say about the Boulders. we will be back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice but with some major let-downs..."
First off don't plan on checking in even a minute early - we got there at 2pm and check in is at 3pm - no one was getting into their room early. They say they will "call you" when it's ready - well we never got a call and they won't call the housekeeping staff to check on the status. We finally got into our room about 3:15pm. There are only two small […] pools, the one adult pool is small and all the chairs at both pools are taken by 9:30am so if you want a seat get there EARLY. There isn't enough pool staff taking orders for drinks/food. Just one person. The rooms are nice, but the bathrooms are outdated. I think this was 5 stars a decade or two ago. The scenery is spectacular - can't be beat. But if you want to go to dinner or shopping, etc. in Scottsdale it is quite a drive - at least 30 minutes to Old Town. There is a valet car service that comes with the $30 per day resort fee, but it takes a while to actually get the car. We ended up just finding the lot and parking the car ourselves, which I don't think they appreciated. Overall it was a good stay, but we won't be back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Are you kidding?"
Waldorf Astoria--great name, fantastic properties, highest quality customer service. Not always! The Boulders property was beautiful. May move there. But whoever heard of a four star hotel/resort with a main dining room that was closed in the high season and not for anything other than being closed. Could not get dinner on the propertyon two of the […] four days we were there. You could walk or shuttle to two lesser restaurants five minutes away. And the reataurant staff and bartenders all needed lessons in customer service. Weak at best! And this is a spectacular place with a quality name on it. And yet we would go back tomorrow to be in this very special atmosphere. They just need to work on their food service and staff inside the restaurant. Nothing a good F&B man or woman couldn't fix. Wonderful. Very quiet and relaxing. Just what I'd hoped.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent resort. Lots of outdoor things to do...run, bike, hike, rock climbing. Spa and fitness center were terrific. All of this well suited for our active family. Each of the dining options worked well for us. Nothing too fancy. Golf course looked nice. Nearby by town of Cave Creek worth exploring. Lots of interesting places.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very beautiful and maintained Resort."
Everything about this resort was very pleasing except the service at the pools. Whenever trying to order a drink or food, we waited 30 minutes or more to order...then another 30 minutes to get the items. The staff was pleasant, just not enough personnel to meet the demands of the patrons at the pool.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Beautiful desert surroundings"
Casitas were private and quiet. The bed was heavenly. The boulders and grounds were impressive. The staff was super nice. The $30/day resort fee gets you valet parking, wifi, and tips for everyone except food service. The food at the palo verde was fabulous! Do plan on $50 for breakfast for two w coffee and tip yikes. Overall we loved it!!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Not a five star resort"
The Boulders is a nice facility, but not a five start resort. The rooms were dated, the staff was distant, and the technology (internet, media, and television services) were weak.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A Perfect Girls Weekend"
4 girls who had never traveled together, a 30th birthday celebration, and a new area for all of us. You'd think it'd be a disaster but staying at The Boulders Resort was absolutely amazing. We reserved a 2/2 Pueblo Villa and were upgraded to a 3/3 Pueblo Villa w/o even knowing it until we got inside & the bellman showed us around! While we had originally […] planned to take in a full day at the Spa, we quickly realized there was so much to do outdoors that we opted to go for hikes, climb up The Boulder Trail, and enjoy the pool instead. We ran into an issue with our oven on the 2nd night when making dinner & management quickly solved the issue by letting us use the kitchen at a neighboring villa that was empty. Housekeeping was even considerate enough to come back when they realized we were all still asleep one morning. I'd recommend staying in a Pueblo Villa if you have a small group going. You'll have a full kitchen and area to relax in all together. Stop at AJ's Fine Foods, grab some groceries & drinks, and enjoy just being in the area! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Fantastic! The hotel was beautiful, peaceful and calm. The staff was unbelievable. I have never stayed anywhere with such helpful and cheerful staff…across the board. We decided to splurge on our hotel room in our recent trip to Phoenix. The Boulders was absolutely stunning. Our room was so cozy especially once the fire was lot in our fireplace. The hotel is unique however the last time we were here they were burning Mesquite wood in the casitas which provided a distinct southwestern flair also the shopping area was distinctly under occupied due to the economy thus giving a down in the heels feeling.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The place was great and the staff was the best Golf was awesome but priceyGenuine Expedia guest review
We had a nice two night stay here, it is definitely a resort, not a hotel. You have to valet your car and be taken anywhere in golf carts (or walk). The resort is very large. This is not a bad thing, but may not be what everyone is looking for. The resort is very peaceful, nice spa, very large and nice rooms, great serviceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed here years ago and it was very clean with a professional staff. Now the room wasn't clean. The staff was too casual and forgot to bring us our car when we called for it. The electricity went out for hours so we had to leave to get dinner. Their compensation for our troubles was a free drink made with rail liquor that gave us a headache.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful place with a couple hiccups"
We booked last minute and the price was right. Our first room had a rain leak, and we were moved quickly and that was sorted fairly fast. Room service delivered our food quickly when we ordered and it tasted fine. Housekeeping was hit or miss with delivering some items, however. We were told to ask for as much firewood as we wanted, but one day it took […] us 3 phone calls and about an hour and a half to get it, and by then, the fire we had had burning was long since cold. They did call and talk to us about it and apologized, but it was still a little frustrating. The rooms themselves are starting to show their age, but are still maintained very well. Our room had an hdmi plug in the wall that connected to the television, and we were able to use our laptop to watch movies, as my husband was sick on the trip. Overall, I would absolutely go back, especially since there are some stores nearby, and despite it being out of the way, it's pretty easy to get to the freeway to go elsewhere.
