Nice place on Lake Erie. But not much around. Romm was clean and comfortable, but the walls are thin.

This was our second stay at The Clarion Hotel & Conference Center in Dunkirk. The first time was in mid-February, the second just this past week early April. We needed a Hotel that was convenient to SUNY Fredonia. The Clarion is just over 2 miles away-easy straight drive. We found the Hotel to be clean with a decent size room, comfortable beds, a desk, […] and plenty of lighting. Our only complaints were the fact that we could not access the wi-fi signal in our room (perhaps because we were in a room at the very far end of the hall; and as soon as we left the room to walk down the hall we could obtain a signal). The staff did reboot the modem a few times but that did not fix the signal. The other issue is the cable channels that are available. While we don't spend an entire day watching TV, at night it would be great to have a wider selection of networks (AMC, FX would be welcome additions). Maybe the Hotel Mgmnt. needs to upgrade their cable package. Other than those two items, I would consider staying at The Clarion again. Read more

Hotel was nice enough - chose this hotel since it looked like it would be nice since it's on the lake and had a view. Nice enough, but the complimentary breakfast was so-so. Had the usual make your own waffles, cereal, toast, donuts, etc but the eggs and sausage were not very hot, eggs were "egg patties" like you would see on an egg sandwich and very […] salty. Not enough food available for the number of guests arriving to eat at 8:30 AM. We stayed here while visiting SUNY Fredonia for a speaking engagement. Our room had a great view of the lake, the hotel was clean, and there was complimentary breakfast (waffles, eggs, muffins, etc.). The only complaint my husband had was that although we were in a non-smoking section, he could detect the scent of smoke so we aired out the room. Very nice rooms for the money. Went to Fredonia College reunion and the location was not too far. Pretty setting by the water but surrounding neighborhood was not great. Great price and very nice free breakfast. Only wish breakfast went later.

We arrived on a Sunday evening, after dropping our son at the local college. We had been driving for almost 10 hours, then spent another 1 1/2 hours helping get him into his room, so the hotel was a welcome respite after a very busy day. My husband, who is in a wheelchair, is usually very critical of our accommodations, but not this time!! This hotel sits right on Lake Erie. There is a marina, beach, and pier all within walking distance. We had a few dinners at the hotel restaurant and were satisfied with the quality of the food and the price, although the choices were a bit limited. I will return to this hotel in the future.

Place is a dump. Mouldy smelling, lumpy beds, flat pillows, no desk, bad air conditioning system, the food was awful (ordered Beef on Weck, a Buffalo area specialty, and got shoe leather on a stale roll), lots of "mystery hairs" on the bathroom floor and lousy old furniture. One would think an innkeeper would have a little pride.

This hotel isn't in the best location and the building needs some updating but other than that it's not a bad place to stay. My entire family agreed that the beds were some of the most comfortable beds they had ever slept in and the breakfast was wonderful as well.

Visiting Fredonia-SUNY and stayed overnight. Very clean, courteous and helpful staff, gorgeous sunset. The area is safe and despite previous claims of others watched but did not hear the freight trains rumbling by. Plenty to eat in the area within walking distance or at the hotel.

This hotel was very old. That in and of itself isn't so terrible but the carpet was peeling off the walls and the floor everywhere. The maid service did not do a complete job at all of cleaning and placed a call off of my phone while there which I was then charged for. Room was very clean and staff at the hotel were also very nice. Considering the location it is over priced. If you plan to stay at this hotel make sure you never leave the windows open as freight trains run all night! Very noisy!

They advertise a fridge in the room both on hotels.com and on their website. I asked, and the barely 20 year old at the front desk said, no we don't have any fridges. Called hotels.com and they somehow found one. Also - had to have a ethernet cord and they were out of those, as well. Town of Dunkirk is grim. Went to Bennett beach 25 miles north...long […] drive.
