"Excellent Service and Great Breakfast!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 2, 2013
In common with most small family hotels that are converted houses, the accommodations where somewhat compact, the shower cubicle in particular, but everything I needed was provded and worked well. The breakfast was fantastic and much better than I expected from this price range. However the most impressive aspect of my stay was the people who run the hotel. Steve, Karen and their family were absolute stars, who could not have made me more welcome. The next time I visit Blackpool the Marsden will be my top choice for friendly service and value for money.
"Great Hotel right in town, excellent value"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Nov 20, 2012
Very nice hotel, excellent location, good for us businessmen, nice restaurants nearby, good staff, clean, free internet, etc... I'll stay there everytime I have business at Warton.
"Beautiful Veiw"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Nov 6, 2012
I chose this hotel because I wanted to be in a more remote countryside location. This place did not dissapoint. We had a beautiful view from our room and the breakfast room. It was also not too far away from some small towns for food and activities. The room was comfortable and clean though the bed was a little too soft for us. With the exception of that, everything else was wonderful. The breakfast was also very good and they had options. Something I was very apreciative for as the full English breakfast is a bit heavy for me in the morning. Owners were very nice and helpful with great suggestions for food and driving directions. Would recomend this location to others and we plan to stay here again.
"5 Star from beginning to end!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Oct 30, 2012
The Howbeck is perfect in every way - from the four-poster bed to the amazing breakfast to the complimentary bedside sherry - you can't ask for more. The staff is delightful and very helpful, making dinner arrangements and providing weary travellers with tea in the lounge. The facility is very well-kept and beautiful. There are many properties to choose from but I'd stay at the Howbeck again in a heart-beat.

"Great Break"
The staff went the extra mile for us. We were a bit concerned when booking to be told it would be a double bed us and a sofa bed for my 2 children to share. We spoke to them and they said they'd see what they could do. When we arrived they'd turned the folded sofa bed into 1 bed and put in a camp bed for the other bed, great!! At breakfast, my children […] wanted hot chocolate and rather than tea or coffee and they brought a pot of hot water and sachets of hot choclate for them. That evening, when we got back to our rooms there was a sachet of hot chocolate for them each on their pillows! Great service. THe pool was lovely, nice warm towels provided at the pool for you to use and leave there. Thanks a great break away! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Friendly spot to stay."
Apart from one misunderstanding our stay was spot on. The hotel whilst being out of town is set in its own grounds with plenty of walks available including a riverside path which extends for many a mile.Genuine Expedia guest review
"convenient location and good facilities"
The room was comfortable and the staff were friendly. There is a real shortage of decent hotels in and around Lancaster so we woudl heartily recommend it for visiors to this area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"City Hotel"
The hotel was nice but the service in the restaurant was poor. The manager was rude by making my guests and I waiting for 10 minutes without acknowledgement of our presence or exploration for the delay. It was clear that the restaurant was understaffed for the evening. Even purchasing drinks took an inordinate amount of time. The food was average in […] quality and only luke warm. Although the hotel rooms were okay the experience was spoilt by the service. This was a great pity as it was a Valentines evening treat from my wife, daughter and her boyfriend. "Not usual standard"
I was very disappointed to see a Holiday Inn that was well below their usual standard. The hotel decor was very 'tired' and needs a lick of paint. The staff in the retaurant seemed more interested in chatter than service. Then to top it all reception attempted to charge me twice for the room! Not a hotel I will be returning to.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Holiday Inn, Lancaster"
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel - our room (a double with a sofa bed) had lots of space, and when we checked the films available we discovered that a film that we've been waiting to see at the cinema was available so we had a lovely cosy night watching that! The next morning we took advantage of the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna that […] were free to guests. We would definitely stay here again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"well priced, good value for money"
The first room clearly smelt of vomit so I requested to be moved to another room, this was done immediately and the house keepers were instructed to disinfect the other room. Our new room was almost identical, nice clean tidy fresh and plenty of space. The leisure club facilities were fine, enjoyed the steam room. Felt that the pool area could of […] been a little cleaner though, think it's in need of a steam.m overall I was impressed with the hotel and the price that I paid. Most B&Bs in the area are charging the same price. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not brilliant service"
Although this is one of the nicest hotels around and the spa is lovely, it was let down by poor housekeeping services. i.e. we booked a room for 2 adults and one child but only had one bath towel in the room on arrival and only 2 cups in the room. 2 teabags and no hot choc sachets. Not what you expect from this grade of hotel. On mentioning this to […] front desk staff, towels were added but we still only had two cups. On the second day teabags were added and in the evening the concierge gave us some chocolate sachets but they should have been in the room. Small but important details for what was otherwise a pleasant stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"convenient for M6 and Lancaster"
Hotel is OK, gym and pool were good and very handy for the cycle path along the Lune if you want to run outside. I'm surprised they charge for internet access, and I would definitely askfor a room at the back of the building another time as I found the traffic noise excessive even during a Monday night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect stop-over"
An ideal stopover for a long journey from Portsmouth to Scotland. Room was clean and very comfortable. Used the swimming pool which helped use to use up some energy! Perfectly located just off junction 34 and very good value for money.. Only negative would be the expensive cost of the wi-fi. Didn't use the restaurant in the hotel but there is a Brewer's […] Fayre directly opposite with a soft play area - ideal for a 3 year old with plenty of energy to burn after the long journey. Would definately use again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quality accommodation in Lancaster at reasonable price."
The Hotel is spacious, rooms are big and comfortable, have a great view and the service is good. Indoor pool is a real plus in the cold climate. And a gym for the health freaks. Breakfast is okay. I did not have anything to complain about.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Lovely stay"
We booked last minute as we had to visit a friend urgently. The booking process was easy and we had a very warm welcome after a long journey from the South. The room was much bigger than I expected which was great as we were travelling with my newborn baby. Would recommend this hotel * * * * * * * * * * *Genuine Hotels.com guest review

hotel was in a good location for onward travel. The first room smelled quite strong of smoke, also above function room with a wedding on so not ideal with children. The hotel re located rooms no problems very accomodating. The leisure club pool area in need of some TLC a little dirty due to the mount of use I guess. Booked room only would of appreciated […] at check in the option of breakfast but was never asked, poor up selling. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lancaster Motorway Holiday Inn"
Not the best place I've stayed at. Room booking was there, but 2 of the 4 beds in the room were inadequate sizes for adults and therefore did not provide a good nights sleep or high level of comfort. The bathroom was unclean, either a very poor job had been done or none at all. Toiletries were missing. There was 1 towel between 4 of us. These were […] provided upon request, but not really the service I would expect. They also attempted to charge us the full room cost again upon arrival. Poor show all round, really. "Have dogs? then book in at the Lancaster Holiday Inn hotel, best provision for you and your pet."
One of the best hotels we have stayed in with high stars that accomodate dogs. Never knew holiday Inn took pets on and that too at no extra cost. Fantastic hotel with great facilities and very convienient for all. We booked double room which was huge for us (2 adults) and 2 labradoures. Room was well located away from noise and sounds for our dogs benefit […] and for other guests in the hotel a sign of a dog hung over our doot handle, saying dog staying in room. Room was big enough for all and very comfortable. Staff were very helpful and did not freak out at the sign of a dog in the room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Holiday inn, Lancaster"
Arrived late afternoon (4pm or later) but cleaners sill in the room. When they let I found crumbs on one of the armchairs. The throw at the bottom of the bed had a recent spill of something globulous. The fridge contained a small bottle of sparkling water with the seal broken. All of the above were reported to reception. On retuning to the room later […] the water in the fridge had been replaced but the crumbs had not been swept up and the throw on the bed had not been removed/replaced. The dinner menu was mundane and overpriced for what was on offer so we didn't use it. On the plus side the staff at breakfast were extremely pleasant and helpful and the food standard was quite good. "Prima für Familien auf der Durchreise"
Ein Hotel, das Zimmer für Familien mit 2 Kleinkindern überhaupt anbietet, günstig zur Autobahn, aber dennoch ruhig gelegen ist, und für englische Verhältnisse sehr klar strukturierte Zimmer und v.a. Badezimmer aufweist. Als relativ günstige Übernachtungsmöglichkeit auf der Durchreise für uns sehr gut geeignet.Genuine Expedia guest review
