"mercure box hill Burford bridge hotel"
Stayed for wedding night, arrived just after midnight and two guys on duty were amazingly helpful, checked us in quickly, showed us to the room and even organised food and champagne to help us celebrate a bit longer! Great service, very scenic location, overall, great hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
A very comfortable stay in lovely green surroundings. The outdoor pool was a delight after our long walk in the hot weather. Just need a sauna and steam. There's room to put one in... The hotel room double bed was huge and comfortable that looked out on to the pleasant Green Garden, the bathroom immaculate with a deep bath. Breakfast was delicious. […] Variety and looked good in the lightly aired dining room. Restaurant was closed on the Sunday night when we wanted to eat but it wasn't a problem as the bar food was nice and the bar was a nice place to be in. Tasteful and neutral decor throughout newly refurbished hotel. Liked all the furnishings especially the two seater chair in the foyer. A very modern reception. Just thought it was a big old table at first. Check-in took a long time. No queue but staff seemed to find the laptop keyboard tricky. Liked the quietness of the place. Heard the loud music from the wedding party in the Tithe Barn but don't know when that stopped as I fell asleep. Hotel great for visiting Denbies Vineyard and Dorking ton centre as is within walking distance. We had a very enjoyable stay and would love to return again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect location for Box Hill and Denbies vineyard"
This is our second stay here, and we were wondering what to expect after the floods and subsequent revamp the hotel had gone through. It only reopened 2 weeks before our stay, so most things looked pristine. The bedroom was comfortable, and the bathroom was big. Unfortunately the shower wasn't really powerful enough, which was a shame as it had a monsoon […] shower head! The breakfast was really good. Next time we might book two nights so that we had time to use the very inviting pool.... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Not a good stay, room was very small, and smelling of paint. Bathroom door still had wet paint, which got on our clothes. Considering we booked 3 month in advance, the room was not really aceptable, and in hind sight should have kicked up a fuss. Bathroom was again small, chipped bath, not enough towells, very little bath gel/ shampoo.Window blinds […] not private, and open to front veiw by passers by, noise from outside. Double bed but room only fit for one person. Wifi no good, TV stations limited. No lifts. Corridoors very tight when carrying bags. Food trays left in corridoors, not collected. Reception very slow. "Shabby but not chic"
The public areas were fine and the staff were all very helpful and polite. Breakfast was great with loads of choices. Dinner, however, was a disappointment. Overpriced, over seasoned and overcooked. The room could have been ok, but the carpets were grubby and there were crumbs on the floor. The minibar was nt switched on when we arrived and only contained […] two bottles of water, one of which was opened and some water was gone, the other had a faulty cap and we weren't able to open it. The pool looked good, but we didn't have time to try it. Great location for Denbies vineyard and perfect for Box Hill Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good venue for a special occasion"
We use this hotel and Restaurant for an annual Reunion Lunch .. This year we got off to a slow start as the Hotel and the Restaurant were both very busy so it was 20 mins before we could order a drink and another 20 mins before we could order our meal . However all went very well after that with an excellent meal , good wine selection and good service […] . All finished off with coffee in the lovely gardens with stunning views of Box Hill . The blazing sun helped as well Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

A pleasant and relaxing stay. Very friendly, helpful staffGenuine Expedia guest review
We stayed in the Keat's room for the night of our wedding and stayed the breakfast the next morning. The room was stunning, beautiful huge bay window and a 4-poster bed, really comfy, great views.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent and welcoming hotel"
I've stayed at this hotel many times. The staff are very warm and welcoming, and the breakfast service is top notch! Freshly cooked to order when it's quiet enough. Really comfy beds, rooms are a good size and 10 minutes to the M25.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Wish I could have stayed in my room for longer, it was so nice. Food was great, location and service was excellent. One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good rural location at the bottom of Box Hill"
We have stayed in this hotel in the past, but felt a little disappointed after this visit. It could be excellent with just a little effort. The service at reception was very slow though staff were very friendly, and prices for extras seem to be rather expensive for the level of staffing. Breakfast was very good. There was a disco at the back of the […] hotel but this did not disturb us in our room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely escape for couples"
We had a lovely weekend away at this hotel. Staff were polite and efficient. The room was small but clean and the bed magnificently comfy. The only criticism I had, was the walls were really thin so you could hear other peoples conversations and movements very easily. And there was no free access to wifi in your room. Would definitely stay at this hotel […] again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful hotel in Box Hill"
I had an excellent stay and will more than likely come back,Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Pros:Stayed here for a wedding in the Tithe Barn. Bedoom and TB air conditioned, excellent as temperature outside was 33*C. Evening meal in dining room delicious, staff there helpful, friendly, obliging but not intrusive. Cons: highchairs in very poor state of repair; directed to 'ground floor' garden rooms up outside, uneven, steps! Found access round […] side of building, path overgrown and very dark at night. Parking across road from hotel, very busy indeed with would-be Bradley Wiggins cyclists racing round corner and up and down Box Hill. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Relaxing overnight stopover"
Good location, easy to see Box Hill with its splendid views. Good size outdoor pool. Room in good condition - maybe bathroom could do with some deep cleaning. Breakfast was the best I can remember - very high quality choices, and lovely attentive waiting staff (all that is except one waiter who seemed to hover in the corner trying to chat with the hard […] working waitresses. He tried hard to avoid any contact with customers, including me). Overall however a lovely experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was very nice. The breakfasts were superb. The only slight complaint was that the rooms were a bit small for three of us (my wife, myself and my daughter). The place and hotel itself were very nice though and I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good venue for weddings, anniversary/birthdays"
We went for two nights as we had been invited to a birthday celebration in the attached Tythe Barn. The accommodation was therefore very convenient. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful throughout our stay and the breakfasts in the hotel were good. I would certainly stay in this hotel again if I was invited to another event there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A Surrey Gem"
This hotel is ideally situated near Dorking , with Denbies Vineyards walking distance and the Olympic cycling road race just round the corner on the famous Box Hill zig zag . The restaurant has a small but well chosen menu and the wine list ranges from the quaffable to the exotic . Ideal for a getaway from it all weekend .Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A deux pas de la M25"
Nous avions choisi cet hotel pour sa proximité aux grands axes comme la M25 près de Londres tout en bénéficiant d'un cadre bucolique et très calme.Le petit déjeuner est correct et copieux (buffet à l'anglaise). Par contre la ville de Dorking à proximité ne présente aucun charme particulier.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Just spent a comfortable nigh, although noisy at the burford bridge hotel. It had been recently refurbished therefore very clean and beautifully decorated. However the bathroom was rather shabby. My opinion was that they were over charging in order to ' recuperate' some of the costs.

Afternoon tea with a friend. The sandwiches and cakes were really fresh and tasty and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. This made afternoon tea a wonderful experience and I would go back for more!!! I would thoroughly recommend it .

My Husband and I Stayed here for the Weekend last week and i must say after reading some of the reviews on Trip Advisor i was Pleasantly Surprised!! The Staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the room was very fresh and clean, We ate Dinner in the Hotels Restaurant, WHAT A FIND! it was not what we expected from a chain hotel... The Service was Professional & Attentive but not over bearing, The food was of a standard that you would expect to see in a top London Restaurant. I think we may have found our Weekend Retreat! If i could find one criticism it would be that the hotel was a little too Quiet (sometimes not a bad thing)

My friend and I met for dinner. We had a drink in the lovely newly refurbished bar before going into the restaurant for dinner. The food was excellent, newly appointed chef and all the staff were very happy to be there and gave great service. I had been there before the refurbishment, it is now a lovely relaxing place to spend time. My friend had not been there before, she was so impressed and enjoyed relaxing and eating in the restaurant. Will be going back to taste more of the excellent food from the new menu from Nick Sinclair and his lovely team.

I have stayed in this hotel a good few times both prior to and since the modernisation of the hotel. Generally, a good stay though the bar food menu could do with a few more main courses on it. The bedrooms are comfortable but the bed I had was on the hard side and the water pressure in the shower a little low. Would I stay again? Yes I would.
"Business men claim it on expenses, so prices don't matter"
02/12/15 Nicola K Rochester, United Kingdom
I was booked into this hotel this week for business. Not being local, I decided to eat in the restaurant, despite a colleague warning me that the service was very slow. Service was slow, but a beer made it bearable. The staff were helpful and sufficiently attentive. However, despite being quite palatable, the portions were small, pretentious and at the time of the bill, clearly overpriced. I think that most diners here get to sign off the bill to expenses, but to me, spending over £180.00 for dinner, bed and breakfast despite the company footing the bill, means I would never recommend it to anyone. I will also report this to the company, so they can reconsider using it for their staff.

WOW, WOW, WOW and then some, what can we say. I have been planning my own wedding in my mind for years. Having done many for some time during my career in hospitality I always had a dream of what I wanted my own wedding day to be like. However, I could never have imagined half the magic that you put into place for us, along with all the little extras, (The Ivy and lights for one). All our guests were blown away with the hotel, the food and even more so by the staff. But what they didn’t see or experience was what went on behind the scenes. From way back last summer when we originally booked with you guys, through to the evening we spent in September choosing our food and wine, it was all amazing. Chris was fantastic, and nothing was an issue for him, keeping us both informed during the whole day, and tending to any last minute requests that popped up as though it was a normal and expected thing. Gary and Jacqueline were so calm at the most terrifying stage of the whole day, you were right Jackie, they were perfect for us. I could not let the day go by, without dragging the chefs out from their den. I know it was way out of their comfort zone, but without them if would not have been half the day it was, and I would once again like to extend my thanks to them all. The Lamb was superb, and every one was asking how they achieved such a dish on such a big scale, all the food was hot on arrival to the table, again this was remarked on by many, and as you know, the chocolate truffle was….. well, i cant put those words on here, but lets just say we all enjoyed it. I know the chefs rarely get the recognition that they deserve, and on this occasion they surpassed all expectations. The fact that management even went to pick my aunty and uncle up from the station was such a lovely gesture of kindness, and way above expectations. We’d also like to thank the front of house team, for handing out the invites to our evening party on the Friday night, and welcoming all our guests over the weekend as though it was our home. Sorry about all the confetti! but it never felt like a hotel once, and this added to the whole experience. Everything was so calm and relaxing. I know there was a few issues with hot water in some of the rooms in the mornings, but no one minded too much, really, everything else was so perfect they all soon forgot about the lack of hot water in their rooms, thats how you deal with a crisis like no hot water, make the guests forget. Please also say a massive thank you to the night manager and bar staff, we kept them up into the small hours for three nights, (My mother held court until 4.30am), yet she was as fresh as a daisy in the morning! An amazing woman, and I am still not quite sure how she does it! Apart from our guests who were amazed by the whole ‘production’, and it really was! Countless staff came up to us thanking us for ‘allowing' them to be a part of the day too, I think even they felt like they were apart of something special, and that was always our intention. I knew the Pick-Mitchell’s would take over the Burford Bridge, and boy did we do just that, and we wanted to make sure that EVERYONE present was dragged along in the process, including all the staff. You have an amazing team, and this is very rare to find in hotels these days. Clearly Managment respect the staff as much (if not more) than the customers, for they are all happy in the work they do, and this showed every where. Even Housekeeping went the extra mile on the morning of our wedding, ensuring the days early arrivals had somewhere to change, despite all the rooms not being ready from other guests checking out. The newly refurbished rooms were lovely, clean and extra towels and toiletries were supplied without a hesitation. Gary and I even enjoyed the watching one of the gardeners from our balcony while he created that amazing circular pattern in the lawn. The whole attention to detail, even on a cold and wet day just kept adding to the whole experience. This just leaves me with one final thank you, and thats to yourself, without you we would not have been able to do half of what we did. You made the best day of our lives one that we and many others shall never forget, I know that we will return many times to the most magical place we have come call our second home; The Burford Bridge Hotel. We cant wait to see what you do with the ‘Wedding’ Suite, (we as two Grooms, could not call it the Bridal Suit), and we shall return soon with said gift curtsy of Tennyson and Kate Bush of course, to place inside the new suite on its completion. Until then, we wish you and all the staff a fantastic 2015 and we will see you all soon. All our love Gary and Andrew
"We loved our wedding!"
02/11/15 Emma M Surrey, United Kingdom
We had our wedding at Burford Bridge on 7th November 2014. There were a few stressful moments in the morning when we were told that the water was turned off in the hotel and noone really had any information as to whether it would affect the guests and we had to move from the big brial suite to a tiny room to get ready. The drinks were pretty expensive too but this is where the bad things end! The wedding planning was brilliant. Jackie, the Wedding Coordinator was awesome she answered all of my questions and we met with her a few times before our day. She gave us good recomendations on table layout, how the day would go and to ask for Gary from the Registry office (who was amazing). The day ran smoothly and people still talk about how good the food was. The way Jackie and her team decorated the room was exactly as we had planned and looked fab we didn't have to worry at all about anything all day. We had the best day ever! Thank you Burford! If you do chose Burford be sure to buy some ivy, fairy lights and candles which just turn the venue into a complete fairytale
"Nice place, dog friendly?"
02/04/15 bagsyboy Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
Stayed here for 1 night on way back home. Needed a dog friendly hotel and they said they were..... IF you paid for a premium room! (and dog cleaning fee) IF you didn't take your dog anywhere else in the hotel Other than that it was a really nice place. The room we got was really nice and comfortable. The breakfast next morning was excellent. The staff attitude was indifferent, (other than the nice lady at breakfast) Since we were told we couldn't take our dog with us we went elsewhere to eat and found a great place just along the road.

Excellent evening meal in lovely surroundings. Food and service were superb. My wife has a food intolerance and the Restaurant Manager couldn't have been more helpful. Coffee served by the fire after the meal was a real treat - definitely recommended!
