"mercure box hill Burford bridge hotel"
Stayed for wedding night, arrived just after midnight and two guys on duty were amazingly helpful, checked us in quickly, showed us to the room and even organised food and champagne to help us celebrate a bit longer! Great service, very scenic location, overall, great hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
A very comfortable stay in lovely green surroundings. The outdoor pool was a delight after our long walk in the hot weather. Just need a sauna and steam. There's room to put one in... The hotel room double bed was huge and comfortable that looked out on to the pleasant Green Garden, the bathroom immaculate with a deep bath. Breakfast was delicious. […] Variety and looked good in the lightly aired dining room. Restaurant was closed on the Sunday night when we wanted to eat but it wasn't a problem as the bar food was nice and the bar was a nice place to be in. Tasteful and neutral decor throughout newly refurbished hotel. Liked all the furnishings especially the two seater chair in the foyer. A very modern reception. Just thought it was a big old table at first. Check-in took a long time. No queue but staff seemed to find the laptop keyboard tricky. Liked the quietness of the place. Heard the loud music from the wedding party in the Tithe Barn but don't know when that stopped as I fell asleep. Hotel great for visiting Denbies Vineyard and Dorking ton centre as is within walking distance. We had a very enjoyable stay and would love to return again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect location for Box Hill and Denbies vineyard"
This is our second stay here, and we were wondering what to expect after the floods and subsequent revamp the hotel had gone through. It only reopened 2 weeks before our stay, so most things looked pristine. The bedroom was comfortable, and the bathroom was big. Unfortunately the shower wasn't really powerful enough, which was a shame as it had a monsoon […] shower head! The breakfast was really good. Next time we might book two nights so that we had time to use the very inviting pool.... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Not a good stay, room was very small, and smelling of paint. Bathroom door still had wet paint, which got on our clothes. Considering we booked 3 month in advance, the room was not really aceptable, and in hind sight should have kicked up a fuss. Bathroom was again small, chipped bath, not enough towells, very little bath gel/ shampoo.Window blinds […] not private, and open to front veiw by passers by, noise from outside. Double bed but room only fit for one person. Wifi no good, TV stations limited. No lifts. Corridoors very tight when carrying bags. Food trays left in corridoors, not collected. Reception very slow. "Shabby but not chic"
The public areas were fine and the staff were all very helpful and polite. Breakfast was great with loads of choices. Dinner, however, was a disappointment. Overpriced, over seasoned and overcooked. The room could have been ok, but the carpets were grubby and there were crumbs on the floor. The minibar was nt switched on when we arrived and only contained […] two bottles of water, one of which was opened and some water was gone, the other had a faulty cap and we weren't able to open it. The pool looked good, but we didn't have time to try it. Great location for Denbies vineyard and perfect for Box Hill Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good venue for a special occasion"
We use this hotel and Restaurant for an annual Reunion Lunch .. This year we got off to a slow start as the Hotel and the Restaurant were both very busy so it was 20 mins before we could order a drink and another 20 mins before we could order our meal . However all went very well after that with an excellent meal , good wine selection and good service […] . All finished off with coffee in the lovely gardens with stunning views of Box Hill . The blazing sun helped as well Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

A pleasant and relaxing stay. Very friendly, helpful staffGenuine Expedia guest review
We stayed in the Keat's room for the night of our wedding and stayed the breakfast the next morning. The room was stunning, beautiful huge bay window and a 4-poster bed, really comfy, great views.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent and welcoming hotel"
I've stayed at this hotel many times. The staff are very warm and welcoming, and the breakfast service is top notch! Freshly cooked to order when it's quiet enough. Really comfy beds, rooms are a good size and 10 minutes to the M25.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good rural location at the bottom of Box Hill"
We have stayed in this hotel in the past, but felt a little disappointed after this visit. It could be excellent with just a little effort. The service at reception was very slow though staff were very friendly, and prices for extras seem to be rather expensive for the level of staffing. Breakfast was very good. There was a disco at the back of the […] hotel but this did not disturb us in our room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely escape for couples"
We had a lovely weekend away at this hotel. Staff were polite and efficient. The room was small but clean and the bed magnificently comfy. The only criticism I had, was the walls were really thin so you could hear other peoples conversations and movements very easily. And there was no free access to wifi in your room. Would definitely stay at this hotel […] again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful hotel in Box Hill"
I had an excellent stay and will more than likely come back,Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Pros:Stayed here for a wedding in the Tithe Barn. Bedoom and TB air conditioned, excellent as temperature outside was 33*C. Evening meal in dining room delicious, staff there helpful, friendly, obliging but not intrusive. Cons: highchairs in very poor state of repair; directed to 'ground floor' garden rooms up outside, uneven, steps! Found access round […] side of building, path overgrown and very dark at night. Parking across road from hotel, very busy indeed with would-be Bradley Wiggins cyclists racing round corner and up and down Box Hill. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Relaxing overnight stopover"
Good location, easy to see Box Hill with its splendid views. Good size outdoor pool. Room in good condition - maybe bathroom could do with some deep cleaning. Breakfast was the best I can remember - very high quality choices, and lovely attentive waiting staff (all that is except one waiter who seemed to hover in the corner trying to chat with the hard […] working waitresses. He tried hard to avoid any contact with customers, including me). Overall however a lovely experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was very nice. The breakfasts were superb. The only slight complaint was that the rooms were a bit small for three of us (my wife, myself and my daughter). The place and hotel itself were very nice though and I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good venue for weddings, anniversary/birthdays"
We went for two nights as we had been invited to a birthday celebration in the attached Tythe Barn. The accommodation was therefore very convenient. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful throughout our stay and the breakfasts in the hotel were good. I would certainly stay in this hotel again if I was invited to another event there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
very satisfactory for what we needed - a night away in the hotel where we were at a function.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A Surrey Gem"
This hotel is ideally situated near Dorking , with Denbies Vineyards walking distance and the Olympic cycling road race just round the corner on the famous Box Hill zig zag . The restaurant has a small but well chosen menu and the wine list ranges from the quaffable to the exotic . Ideal for a getaway from it all weekend .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very good apart from the waiting staff not being aware of what they can do.Also we did not receive the, daily Mail we ordered.

I stayed here last night with my friend as we were attend a friend's wedding nearby. Our room was lovely. Verycomfortable and clean. Comfortable bed . The staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok. The usual buffet style. Bit soggy where some of the items were being kept warm. I would recommend this hotel and I would stay here again.
"Style and price way above substance"
03/17/15 Iniquity66 Sheffield, United Kingdom
Staying at the hotel on business and went into restaurant for dinner, not having eaten since breakfast. The little appetisers were very nice as was the bread and accompaniments. Bottle of still water was £4.50. Starter arrived, beautifully presented, and a feast for the eyes. Tasted very nice too, mackerel, but alas the size of a sprat. The main course of sea bream should have made up for it but was similar to the starter. Unusually, and still ravenous, I ordered a dessert, the rhubarb crumble. The size of a thumb, and looking more like a sliver of cheesecake with some ginger biscuit crumbled on top I sent it back in disgust. The waiter was excellent and arranged an apple crumble from the bar menu which was a reasonable portion and very tasty. Bill was £44 something including one large glass of white wine and the cost of the desert was waived, but the bill was still £44. If you prefer style over substance then enjoy. If you want to eat, or appreciate good value, then please try elsewhere.
"Lovely Hotel and Perfect for Box Hill Cycling"
03/17/15 Rhiant Bridgend
We stayed here for one night during the weekend. We were warmly greeted by the reception staff who couldn't do enough for us. We were checked in quickly and efficiently. Keen to cycle up Box Hill the following morning we had brought our bikes with us and were given a garden view room with a balcony so we were able to keep the bikes in our room. This was fine although the patio doors wouldn't shut properly and so we couldn't lock them. We were on the ground floor so had I not brought the bike lock with us (which we used to put between the two door handles to lock them) we would have asked to move rooms. The room we had was spacious and had all the facilities. The breakfast was lovely and plentiful and the hotel facilities (including the dining room) feel quite luxurious. I did feel like it was a real treat! The drinks were pricey but I would expect that from a hotel. There is a really great pub which is literally about 5 mins walk away (I think it was called the Stepping Stones) and I would recommend that for dinner and drinks!
"Our Wedding - Better than we could have dreamt of."
03/10/15 Ann-MarieM1303 Leatherhead, United Kingdom
After booking the Tithe Barn at the Burford Bridge Hotel to hold our wedding (ceremony and reception), we knew we had chosen something very special, it was only the second venue we looked at but it was perfect, the Barn was just what we wanted, had a certain connection to my childhood farm upbringing in Cornwall. We were made to feel so welcome and we knew then this was the venue for us. Our world was nearly turned upside down when sadly on 24 December 2013 along with many other local properties the Burford Bridge was badly flooded, at the time we hadn’t appreciated the severity of what had happened, but soon did when in the New Year we received notification they were shutting the hotel until 1 September 2014, only 20 days before our wedding. Our mind was soon put at ease when I telephoned them and was reassured that the hotel would be open by that date and that in fact they were taking the opportunity to refurbish the whole hotel, so actually it turned out we were going to have a brand spanking new wedding venue. Jackie Moe was employed shortly after this, and we couldn’t have asked for a better wedding coordinator, she was always there on the end of the telephone or by e-mail, and kept us informed at all stages of the refurbishment. We had our food tasting at their sister hotel, which was equally lovely and the food was simply exquisite. We were invited to the Burford Bridge a few weeks before it reopened to see how it was progressing and to have a look at the new décor, it was beautiful, we couldn’t believe it, we had booked what we thought was a stunning venue several months earlier, and now it was even better. We were invited to their open day, and as our wedding was only 20 days away we were treated like royalty (I felt like a princess!). As the date to our wedding got closer Jackie was on hand to deal with my last minute phone calls and she was so helpful, she knew exactly what we wanted and always took it on board and made sure it was dealt with. On the day (20th September 2014), the Tithe Barn looked fantastic, so magical and everything we had dreamed it would be. Jackie, Tivor and all the staff were amazing, whatever myself and my husband needed we only had to ask. The food was fabulous, and everything went without a hitch. We had such great compliments afterwards, in fact a few of our guests said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to, now I know I’m bias but I have to agree! I cannot recommend highly enough the Burford Bridge Hotel as a wedding venue, the Barn, the Gardens, all overlooked by Boxhill, what more could you ask for.

The hotel and staff were excellent. Our wedding was postponed because of the floods early 2014. Well everything happens for a reason and we held the wedding at a brand new spectacular venue and the staff were amazing too. Jackie and Oscar in particular thanks for making our day so special
"Warm welcome, clean and fresh hotel"
Stayed for a night as working at a conference in the same hotel. Excellent staff, food is beautiful and rooms clean. Lovely feel to the hotel, decor and furniture very tasteful. The evening menu in the bar although limited the food was of a very high quality and they were happy to serve until quite late, we didn't arrive until gone 9pm. The room was fairly large and was extremely clean. Although a little noise from next door, was a quiet stay.
"coffee without a smile!"
02/28/15 dudleyfields Surrey, United Kingdom
I meet some friends here for morning coffee last week, this is the first time I have been back since the refurbishment. I really like what the designers have done it has bought the hotel into the 21st Century. How the coffee and the waiter are still back in the dark ages! the coffee and biscuits were tasteless and if the waiter could have thrown the coffee at us he would have done so. This could have been a lovely local place to meet friends for coffee or afternoon teas but sadly while the grumpy staff are there I won't be returning.
"nice hotel-over priced"
02/25/15 richardsla60 Gloucester, United Kingdom
Just spent a comfortable nigh, although noisy at the burford bridge hotel. It had been recently refurbished therefore very clean and beautifully decorated. However the bathroom was rather shabby. My opinion was that they were over charging in order to ' recuperate' some of the costs.
