"The Burford Bridge hotel at Box Hill"
This is a historic spot with something for everyone , nature , history , location , you name it . The staff are obviously proud of their hotel and its facilities and provide a warm welcome,. The restaurant is excellent and the bar meals ideal if your appetite is not up to three courses . Wine selections are also well described with a good choiceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Not a good stay, room was very small, and smelling of paint. Bathroom door still had wet paint, which got on our clothes. Considering we booked 3 month in advance, the room was not really aceptable, and in hind sight should have kicked up a fuss. Bathroom was again small, chipped bath, not enough towells, very little bath gel/ shampoo.Window blinds […] not private, and open to front veiw by passers by, noise from outside. Double bed but room only fit for one person. Wifi no good, TV stations limited. No lifts. Corridoors very tight when carrying bags. Food trays left in corridoors, not collected. Reception very slow. "Shabby but not chic"
The public areas were fine and the staff were all very helpful and polite. Breakfast was great with loads of choices. Dinner, however, was a disappointment. Overpriced, over seasoned and overcooked. The room could have been ok, but the carpets were grubby and there were crumbs on the floor. The minibar was nt switched on when we arrived and only contained […] two bottles of water, one of which was opened and some water was gone, the other had a faulty cap and we weren't able to open it. The pool looked good, but we didn't have time to try it. Great location for Denbies vineyard and perfect for Box Hill Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good venue for a special occasion"
We use this hotel and Restaurant for an annual Reunion Lunch .. This year we got off to a slow start as the Hotel and the Restaurant were both very busy so it was 20 mins before we could order a drink and another 20 mins before we could order our meal . However all went very well after that with an excellent meal , good wine selection and good service […] . All finished off with coffee in the lovely gardens with stunning views of Box Hill . A pleasant and relaxing stay. Very friendly, helpful staffGenuine Expedia guest review
We stayed in the Keat's room for the night of our wedding and stayed the breakfast the next morning. The room was stunning, beautiful huge bay window and a 4-poster bed, really comfy, great views.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent and welcoming hotel"
I've stayed at this hotel many times. The staff are very warm and welcoming, and the breakfast service is top notch! Freshly cooked to order when it's quiet enough. Really comfy beds, rooms are a good size and 10 minutes to the M25.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect romantic retreat"
Wish I could have stayed in my room for longer, it was so nice. Food was great, location and service was excellent. One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good rural location at the bottom of Box Hill"
We have stayed in this hotel in the past, but felt a little disappointed after this visit. It could be excellent with just a little effort. The service at reception was very slow though staff were very friendly, and prices for extras seem to be rather expensive for the level of staffing. Breakfast was very good. There was a disco at the back of the […] hotel but this did not disturb us in our room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely escape for couples"
We had a lovely weekend away at this hotel. Staff were polite and efficient. The room was small but clean and the bed magnificently comfy. The only criticism I had, was the walls were really thin so you could hear other peoples conversations and movements very easily. And there was no free access to wifi in your room. Would definitely stay at this hotel […] again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful hotel in Box Hill"
I had an excellent stay and will more than likely come back,Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Pros:Stayed here for a wedding in the Tithe Barn. Bedoom and TB air conditioned, excellent as temperature outside was 33*C. Evening meal in dining room delicious, staff there helpful, friendly, obliging but not intrusive. Cons: highchairs in very poor state of repair; directed to 'ground floor' garden rooms up outside, uneven, steps! Found access round […] side of building, path overgrown and very dark at night. Parking across road from hotel, very busy indeed with would-be Bradley Wiggins cyclists racing round corner and up and down Box Hill. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Relaxing overnight stopover"
Good location, easy to see Box Hill with its splendid views. Good size outdoor pool. Room in good condition - maybe bathroom could do with some deep cleaning. Breakfast was the best I can remember - very high quality choices, and lovely attentive waiting staff (all that is except one waiter who seemed to hover in the corner trying to chat with the hard […] working waitresses. He tried hard to avoid any contact with customers, including me). Overall however a lovely experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was very nice. The breakfasts were superb. The only slight complaint was that the rooms were a bit small for three of us (my wife, myself and my daughter). The place and hotel itself were very nice though and I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good venue for weddings, anniversary/birthdays"
We went for two nights as we had been invited to a birthday celebration in the attached Tythe Barn. The accommodation was therefore very convenient. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful throughout our stay and the breakfasts in the hotel were good. I would certainly stay in this hotel again if I was invited to another event there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
very satisfactory for what we needed - a night away in the hotel where we were at a function.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A Surrey Gem"
This hotel is ideally situated near Dorking , with Denbies Vineyards walking distance and the Olympic cycling road race just round the corner on the famous Box Hill zig zag . The restaurant has a small but well chosen menu and the wine list ranges from the quaffable to the exotic . Ideal for a getaway from it all weekend .Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A deux pas de la M25"
Nous avions choisi cet hotel pour sa proximité aux grands axes comme la M25 près de Londres tout en bénéficiant d'un cadre bucolique et très calme.Le petit déjeuner est correct et copieux (buffet à l'anglaise). Par contre la ville de Dorking à proximité ne présente aucun charme particulier.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

only there one night but would have quite happily stayed longer. the service was excellent the room comfatable and clean, we thought that there might be noise from the road as there was no double glazing and we were directly on to the road but is was not a problem at all as there was not much traffic using the road.
"Nice Hotel, Good staff"
12/10/13 Nogtraveller London, United Kingdom
Overnight stay for a party; Very efficient and friendly check in, our room was ready earlier than expected. We had a Bar meal for lunch, food was good and service excellent. The Room was one of the executive rooms which was comfortable, clean and well appointed. the main lighting could have been brighter and the bathroom fan quieter. But we were there for the bed which was very comfortable. All the staff we came in contact with during the day evening and at breakfast were friendly and helpful.
"Nice staff, Good room, Good food, Good atmosphere, thank you"

I was booked in here on business for an overnight stay. On arrival the receptionist looked pleased to see me and was smiling, what a nice welcome. The booking in process was easy, efficiently conducted and I went to my room. The room was very well presented. A large bed, two armchairs, a built in wardrobe, dressing table and a small table and adequate floorspace. A really nice double room. The bed was dressed with pillows, cushions and a throw giving it a luxurious look and feel. Dressing rooms like this helps one appreciate the effort that someone has taken to make the room look nice. The en suite was perfectly clean and functional with complimentary soaps and toiletries. My colleague and I had an early start the next day and would be leaving the hotel at 0550, so I enquired about the possibility of any breakfast at that time? I was told that due to the chef not starting until 0530 a hot breakfast was not likely to be available. Entirely understandable in the circumstances. However, I was told that the early staff and the night staff would make sure that there was some coffee and toast out for me from 0530. A nice provision at short notice. Supper consisted of the rib eye steak, which was cooked to perfection as far as I was concerned, some vegetables and multi functional chips, which served three purposes. 1. Bought out in me the architectural appreciation that I feel when I see a construction or building. They were arranged in a column of three layers. The base layer roughly equally spaced out so that the next layer rested on top and are almost edge to end at 90 degrees. The top layer was then placed at 90 degree to the middle layer but in line with the base layer. 2. The pile resembled a Jenga tower, the game usually made of wooden blocks where you try to remove one block without disturbing the tower. Unable to resist the invitation presented thus my colleague and I played Jenga for about 5 minutes. We ended up equal with 54 points each. The games were very short for as soon as the first person at attempted to withdraw a Jenga chip the pile collapsed, presumably due to the oil dan sticky coating of the chips? 3. The chips were then eaten. So a simple portion of chips, a work of art, a game and food. Splendid. Check out at 0530 was efficiently dealt with despite some problems with one guests' card being refused several times. The night person coped with the hiccup well and the guest was not fazed. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise with more than toast and coffee that had been offered. The early morning kitchen staff, on being told that there were really early breakfast guests had arranged cereals, yoghurt and milk and fruit, and a selection of cold meats and cheeses, as well as toast. Consequently we were better fed than we had expected, thank you all so much for making that effort for us. There may be minor things that a perfectionist might find needing attention in the room I used or around the hotel, but then some will find fault wherever. The tiny patch of flaking paint, a missing curtain retainer. In the big scheme if things these are minor and do nothing to detract from the pleasure of having stayed at a nice clean, politely staffed and efficiently run hotel. I was there on business but would return for pleasure if in the area.
"Amazing wedding venue"

The quality of the venue, service and food cannot be faulted. Especial credit to Kevin, Didier and Bertrand who helped make the whole weekend truly special. Every meal was first rate, beautifully cooked and presented. Nothing was too much trouble and all of the staff were extremely professional and friendly. Thank you for making our daughter and son in law's unforgettable.
"Do not book this hotel. They're useless and liars"
12/02/13 heggers79 London, United Kingdom
A friend of mine was getting married at Denbies vineyard and had sent out the details of hotels nearby to book. We booked this hotel 6 weeks in advance and then the day before the wedding they rang us to tell us they were moving us to another hotel. They gave us some mickey mouse story about the bookings getting mixed up because we used laterooms.com. When I told them we didn't use that and booked through their own website, they mumbled something and tried to correct themselves. They then said that as we had booked a cot, they would make sure they upgraded us in this new hotel. Again, lies. We do not have children and did not book a cot. These guys are an utter shambles. They moved us to The White Horse hotel in the middle of Dorking High Street and we negotiated an upgrade, free breakfast and a reduced rate .They told us they'd give us an upgrade and free breakfast for £99 for the inconvenience and by way of an apology. You could actually still book the room and breakfast for £109 on their own website at that point. I told them this and they said you couldn't, despite me having the website open in front of me while talking to them. After about 10 minutes back and forth they agreed to give us a discounted rate, as if it was doing us a favour. I thought this would be the end of it. We knew other people who had booked at Burford Bridge and had arranged to go with them to the wedding, and this would obviously not happen now as we were in different hotels. I spoke to them and warned them of what had happened to us and they said they hadn't heard of anything with their booking so they'd just see us there. Then, on the day of the wedding (at 3.10), they got a call to say there had been a leak in their room and they'd have to move them to another hotel. As I had already told them of what had happened to us, they knew this was a lie and confronted the hotel about it. Again, the same song and dance as us and they got moved to The White Horse for a reduced rate, free breakfast and free taxis to and from the hotel. Again, we thought that would be the end of it, but when getting the taxi back from the venue, we were told it wasn't being paid for by Burford Bridge and that they are famous for messing up reservations and not paying up for the taxis they've promised. Avoid this hotel like the plague. On the plus side, The White Horse is a lovely hotel and Dorking is a nice little town. If you're planning on going to Dorking for any occasion, I'd recommend staying here, and avoiding the Burford Bridge. Even if you think you're booking is still safe they will find a way of messing it up and lying about it to you. I would give this zero stars but you can't submit a review without one...
"Ask how long it will take before ordering lunch."
12/01/13 MikefromCambs England
Dropped into this hotel for lunch whilst travelling to the coast. Ordered sandwiches and coffee. The latter arrived alright but after waiting 40 minutes there was still no sign of the sandwiches. Seeing that I was about to leave the waitress rushed up and said she would check what had happened. Apparently there was a wedding reception on and the kitchen was busy. After 10 minutes still no sandwiches so we left. I will not be going back.
"The perfect business stay"
11/25/13 rivieragirl nice
I was really impressed with this hotel. I was staying one night for work and I am always slightly sceptical about where they book us in but this time I was pleasantly surprised. I was upgraded on arrival as apparently I looked worn out (I was! ) and I had a lovely good sized room (200) that looked out onto the beautiful grounds at the back and the bed was very comfortable. A tea set is always a welcome addition that I make use of so I was pleased when I saw one in there. The breakfast was really good and I liked the touches of locally produced jam and honey. All the staff were really friendly and accommodating. This is not a luxury hotel but it is a great hotel for a short comfortable stay.
"A last minute stay that turned out well..."

Our party of 6 had originally booked to stay in the nearby DeVere in Reigate. However, when 2 of our party went to check in, the hotel had overbooked and so therefore arranged for us to stay instead at the Mecure. We were upgraded to a deluxe room, which to be fair, was a little on the small side. I think we would have been a bit disappointed had we paid for this. Still, the room was really clean and ther were ample toiletries in the bathroom. The lounge bar was lovely, really comfortable and welcoming and the half price cockails at happy hour went down really well! A highlight was the Sunday morning breakfast. There was a cold buffet and all hot food was freshly prepared to order. Jane, our waitress was fantastic, so friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend this hotel.
"Not staying here again. So overpriced for what it is."

There were several issues in this hotel. The cleaning service doesn't seem to do what they are supposed to do. - returning to my room the 2nd day, I noticed that the bed was not made en the lamp was out of its position. I took a picture and showed it at the reception. It looked like someone had been lying on my bed while I was gone!?! -Returning to my room the 3rd day, I noticed trash (of the previous customer???) behind the wall and the bedside table: an empty water bottle and plastic sandwich wrapping... -A colleague said that she trew a dirty towel on the ground and it was put back on the rack by the cleaning staff - Other collegaues complained about the water pressure and temperature in their batchroom but that was ok for me -soaps, shampoo etc that are provided and partly used, are trown away by cleaning staff, while not replaced by new ones - The light in my bathroom was defective - The smell of the room is really terrible. It smells dusty. Like an old people's home. - minibar with only water??? - There was a gas smell every time I passed the corridor (near my room) -I ordered a ceasar's salad via room service the first night and actually it was not eatable. It was overloaded with dressing. This is not what I call a ceasar's salad. -I ordererd scrambled eggs for breakfast, they were tasteless -Breakfast is not really what I expect in this price category. Choice is limited. Price for the accomodation is not in relation to what is offered. It's over-over-priced If I can help it, i am not staying here again. Bear in mind that, depending on your room location, you need to take several stairs and go a pretty long distance to reach your room from the lobby. I did not see an elevator.

The Hotel is old and Classic a bit used but I Expect that when I visit old charming hotels. Rooms are clean and nice with a good size. The price for this Hotel is absolutely fair. Finally the surroundings does it all situated on the foot of Box Hill - just a stunning area. Bring your bike.
