"Pleasant Setting and Charming Family"Reviewed by Norman T of "Dallas, TX" on Apr 17, 2012
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which was in an idylic country town which afforded great access to local sites such as Bath. Family was an absolute charm with homey rooms with comfortable beds and a delicious breakfast.... Would definitely stay there again....

"Beautiful place!"Reviewed by Nancy El of "London" on Mar 28, 2012
We stayed one night at this B&B on our way to Bath. It's very convenient if you have a car; parking is free and it's an easy and quick trip into the city. The place itself is absolutely wonderful. The pub serves excellent food with excellent atmosphere; the room was decorated beautifully with a very comfortable bed; and the bath was to die for! Bath was HUGE and had a fantastic deep soaking tub (with room for 2!) and huge walk-in shower. The decor of room and bath is very modern and sleek but still comfortable, and the room still has plenty of old character features. I would highly recommend this B&B for anyone staying in the area. In addition, the staff and owner are very pleasant as well.
"Hilton Garden Inn in Bristol Temple Meads, UK"Reviewed by Le A. of "Orlando, Florida" on Mar 20, 2012
Very convenient position just a short walk from/to the train station and everything else. Room is very good with the Mac Apple as the TV/computer so the sound is very good! Very good quality toiletry supplies. Strongly recommended to everyone who wants to visit Bristol with plenty of very impressive churches, old architecture, even the library's is very good.

The Macdonald Bath Spa is lovely, the staff is helpful and attentive. We were automatically upgraded to a suite which was a wonderful surprise. No complaints. Would definitely stay there again.
"MacDonald Bath Spa -"
MacDonald Bath Spa is a beautiful hotel. It's a little stuffy in an upper crust English way which is totally not our thing but if you can get past that it's very romantic. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's about a 10 minute walk to the city center where you can find lots of restaurants, the roman baths, the Fashion Museum, etc. We were […] only there for 1 night but I would definitely go back. "The Macdoald Bath Spa in the UK - A jewel"
Compared to all other hotel in the UK this hotel is spacious, have all the amenities, and offers indoor swimming pool, a spa, and a good exercise room. I would definitely select it again.
"Look no further, its the very best!"
Best hotel in our two week trip through the UK Exceptional service from all. The restaurant was superb and the spa fully equipped.

Top notch Hotel in beautiful Bath England..the grounds, room, service elegant..A must stay for all..Price incredible for tha value. 5 stars. Yes
"Wonderful 2 night stay in Bath, UK"
The hotel was delightful but a 15 minute walk from the city centre. The hotel did not offer a shuttle ride to the city. Carefully check your bill when you check out as we were charged for parking. We did not even have a car. Also, they charged 3 pounds a day for a Financial Times. If you use your credit card to pay your bill they charge 2.50. The food […] was excellent, but quite expensive. The room was comfortable and very clean. Read more
"Macdonald Spa Hotel Bath"
The perfect place to escape and relax, yet close enough to all Bath has to offer. The hotel setting is wonderful. It is a short distance from the centre of Bath ( bit of an uphill hike back to the hotel) but as parking is a problem in Bath it is very convenient to leave the car in the hotel carpark and walk everywhere. There are some lovely restauarnts […] within a short distance of the hotel and the walk through Sydney Gardens is glorious. If you are fortunate enough to have good weather enjoy afternoon tea on the garden terrace at the fron tof the hotel. If not, head for the spa. The treatment I had was wonderfully relaxing and the standard of the facility is extremely high. Read more

Excellent Hotel and the deal we got was TOO good to pass, Close to town (7 to 8 min walk) and a 5pound Taxi ride from Bath Sap Rail station. Hotel but well maintained, clean and quite , I highly recommend
"Fantastic retreat - Beautiful Spa/Hotel"
This hotel is fantastic! Loved it! The problem with this hotel is that you have to pay about 5 pounds to get to and from the city. Thought it was a fantastic retreat, beautiful exterior and interior, it just ended up to not be as centrally located as I would have hoped. If I did it again, I would have stayed right downtown. More accessible to everything. There […] is no free internet and the food is quite expensive. I got a sandwich and we ate breakfast one morning there (my wife and I) and paid around 78 bucks for all of it. Good food, but not that good! The swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam/sauna rooms were great, but ultimately I was there to sight see... Read more
"Great Hotel"
5 Stars all the way.
"Outstanding Hotel!!"
This Macdonald hotel is as consistant and the other Macdonald hotels. A great hotel. The only fault is their extremely limited Beer selections. "Great hotel"
Big rooms, clean, great location, friendly staff, spa facilities were excellent. Deserves all its stars Can't ask more for the price we paid.
"Not a 5 star, more like a 2 star"
Hotel is long in the tooth, not a five star, kind of shabby, we asked for a queen bed and got two twins, would not stay here again.

"AMAZING HOTEL!!"
The hotel was lovely inside and out. The food was fantastic in the hotel. Would definately go back. The hotel was very near to Bath centre. The shoppping there is great!
"One of the best"
Very good hotel. Spa was brilliant service was v good Price was unbeatable
"Great hotel let down by service"
Beautiful hotel, good location (good 15 min walk to centre). Spa faciltiies nice but often busy. Food in restaurant excellent. All a bit let down by service. Staff very pleasant but not particularly attentive. Stood for a while waiting for restaurant, no-one took active role in seeing if we needed help. Had to find concierge to retrieve car keys. Room […] took until after 4 pm to be serviced on Day1. Good bargain if you get an offer or seems cheaper on weekdays. Read more

"Quality"
I decided to book this hotel as it was my partners birthday and fancied a little bit of luxury. The reception area is lovely and grand.......Our room was excellent only fault was that the bed was a little too soft for our liking. Clean towels x2 daily and sheets turned down ready for bed. We ate in the hotels restaurant the food was out of this world […] but you will be looking at a three figure bill. But you cant put a price on quality. Pools, sauna & steam room excellent for after a hard day walking around the sites of bath. All staff were friendly and very helpful. will definately return. Read more
"Had a wonderful couple of days!"
The hotel is lovely and the leisure facilities are superb - indoor and outdoor (hot) pools. The room was beautiful and the bathromm the best I've been in. Only problem was the drinks were an absolute fortune - as were the dinner prices. It is a walk into Bath and therefore we witnessed (and were part of) a constant stream of taxis into Bath for meals […] and drinks. If only they lowered their prices, people would eat and drink in the hotel. I would go back though but would still not eat or drink in the hotel. Read more
"Good but could do better"
We had stayed at the bath Spa several years ago in one of the hotel's feature four-poster rooms which had benefited from a recent tasteful refurbishment. This time we were upgraded to a comfortable executive room overlooking the gardens. Food & drink is high on our list of priorities and we took lunch at the Al-Fresco restaurant. The food and wine […] were of the high quality we had come to expect from Al-Fresco. We had hoped to take a pre-lunch aperitif at the bar but were disappointed to find it closed. It had always been open on previous visits. We decided to order room service at about 5pm and this is where we encountered a failing. The call to room service appeared to be forwarded and the line went dead. After trying again we waited for our order. The order was simple and after 40 mins waiting I chased the order only to be told the delay was because they did not know my room number! After a further 20 mins the order arrived. This appeared to be an unfortunate blip as our order for room service breakfast the following morning was delivered on time by two smart young men. The Bath Spa experience is one of service highs and lows and it would be better if there was a consistent level of service. We would certainly return to the Bath Spa as it has much to offer and the dining experience is always memorable. Read more
"Highly recommended hotel for a short stay at Bath-Spa"
Check-in was very slow as there were not enough attendants at the check-in desk. Other than than that, we were impressed with the comfort and customer service. Location is central and within walking distance to the city attractions. Would stay there again.
"Nice hotel but let down by attention to detail"
Booked this as a last minute getaway. Whilst the hotel is lovely, its attention to detail let it down. It took 30 minutes to get checked in, the mini-bar in the room was empty with a 'package buy system' which was ridiculously irrelevant, took another 30 minutes to get through to room service which then arrived without cutlery! Maybe we were just unlucky, […] because the hotel itself is splendid. Not terribly good value though. Read more
"Would love to return"
Although our stay was short we fully enjoyed it and wished we could have been there longer. Excellent in every way. Friendly, approachable staff, eager to help in any way possible.
"not worth the price we paid"
The hotel staff was snooty and arrogant
"lovely hotel and wonderful spa"
I treated my son for his 30th birthday. He went with his girlfriend and absolutely loved it. I have been there before so I knew he would think it was great.
"I love it but I hope I could drive to it next time"
Good character The only concern is its location. Need to walk ard 20 to 30 mins from the train station if u got luggages with you
Our stay was exactly what we wanted. An ideal place to get away and relax. Staff all very pleasant and helpful. Even the weather was kind to us!

"Macsonald Spa Hotel Bath"
The hotel was fantastic and we would have scored it a 5 overall, however the table service in the bar and restaurant let them down as we often had to wait to be served, or go and find the waiters to ask for further drinks or the bill. Overall though, a brilliant weekend. The spa facilities were fantastic!

"Macdonald Bath Spa"
Took advantage of mid week cheap rate, wouldn't ever pay full whack for this hotel. To merit this it needs to feel like a five star hotel which it really doesn't. I've just returned from a stay at a Sofitel and recently in a Mandarin and Penninsula - all of which felt like proper 5 star experiences: this 2/3 at best by comparison (too often this is […] the case with provincial chain hotels in the UK). I'm a local and was having a bit of a staycation, as such I know where to eat and not pay a premium for hotel nosh that really doesn't merit it. eg: Baked Fillet of Wild Sea Bass with a Shitake Mushroom Sauce £27.50 with a £5.00 Supplement for Dinner (which alone puts me right off) = £32.50 (at time of writing) for sea bass fillet? I've chalked up some very impressive restaurant bills in my time, but this would top even last summers bottle of vintage Chateau Lafite in Bangkok at that rate, without the fun of knowing that you're indulging yourself! The pool felt a bit municipal, the steam rooms weren't too bad. The outdoor deck area in particular however should be given the care / consideration that the garden spaces at the front of the hotel are afforded, but it really felt like this area was put together by a contractor who just threw up a series of fence panels, and filled it with furniture. But it's free for guests, so that's something. All in all, the Crescent would be where I would point you to stay in Bath if you want a 5 star experience, this isn't too bad if you get a good rate, but don't expect too much. Read more

"Macdonald hotel and spa bath"
Fantastic hotel, very comfortable, helpful staff. Excellent restaurant and bar with attentive staff. Would happily stay there again.
"Perfect Spring Break"
Highly recommended for the friendliness of the staff and the top quality accommodation. Our executive room, although on the small side, was on the top floor and had a magnificent view over the whole city. What a pity the restaurant is so expensive, though. We ate in only on our first night. We were disappointed with the limited choice, the VERY slow […] service and the exorbitant price of food and wine. Pre-dinner drinks were equally exorbitant and, unsurprisingly, the bar was closed on our second night. We thought £20 for breakfast, regardless of Continental or full English, was also exorbitant. I enjoyed a facial in the hotel's Spa, but was very disappointed with the management of a massage. The therapist was running 10 minutes late, but no apology was offered, nor was the time made up.£72 is rather alot to pay for a 50 minute massage, with no additional advice or care. There was an apology for the bad drain smell from the wash basin, but no attempt to move rooms or mask the smell. No hair protection could be found, despite this being standard in every salon I've ever been in - and, indeed, was provided for the earlier facial. The Relaxation Room was littered with used cups and had clearly not been tidied for some time, although someone did do this while I was there. I'm sure these are management issues, quite separate from the hotel itself, but the Spa should certainly address them. Read more
"Macdonald Bath Spa"
For the price I paid from Hotels.com which was incidently significantly discounted, it proved to be great value for money and at that price I certainly would stay there again.
"Wonderful hotel!"
We loved this hotel - very luxurious and the rooms were beautiful. Food was not great but we enjoyed every other aspect. It is within easy walking distance of the town centre and also has beautiful grounds and gardens. Spa and pool facilities were very nice. We will definitely go back.
"Bath Spa Hotel - lovely stay, great location"
I've just got back from a long weekend break here with my husband and parents-in-law. We booked garden rooms (Executive rooms on Hotels.com) and had a great time. The beds were HUGE (could get about 4 people in if you wanted). The staff were friendly and helpful, though it was sometimes hard to get hold of room service. It is a nice walk into town (10-15 […] minutes stroll), which was great before and after eating. Top tip: if you go on the city bus tour you can take the skyline tour up the hill to the side of the hotel under the same ticket, then just walk around to the main gate. Saved our legs twice after spending all day walking the sights. A taxi from the town centre was £7. Positives: room was lovely. Pool and sauna complex was amazing, especially the outdoor pool. Gym equipment impressed my husband. I had a nice treatment in the spa too. Negatives: food and drink were very expensive - we ate and drank in town, and took a few bottles of our own..... Read more
"Amazing spa"
We booked into Macdonald Spa for 2 nights. We also booked into the Thermae baths on one day. I think that's a complete waste of money if you're staying at Macdonald Spa. The water is a few degrees warmer at the hotel and the whole experience is much more relaxing. There's too many people at the thermae baths and the water, especially on the rooftop […] is not warm enough. Two negatives are the 15m walk into the centre and the breakfast was rather expensive but all in all I loved Macdonald Bath Spa and would go there again. Read more
"Lovely hotel on doorstep to Bath"
We stayed in the hotel with our young baby and it was lovely. We had a room upgrade to a four poster, massive comfy bed, we ordered room service which was good and the spa was lovely, particularly the outside spa. I have been there before and the place is not as grand as I remember but it is very close to the city and I would definately stay there again […] if I could get a deal on the room. The only criticism I have is that there are steps to the hotel and I had to try and get a big pram up them whilst 3 or 4 staff members stood by and did not help. Read more
"Far to basic for the price"
The rooms are sorely in need of an upgrade. The building , its surroundings and the genereal neighbourhood are superb, but I can't say the same about the rooms. Room service was something out of Faulty Towers -- a real joke!

"MacDonald Hotel, Bath Spa - A luxurious must!"
The perfect base to see the lovely city of Bath, especially at Christmas time. The rooms are very comfortable, staff couldn't be more helpful and a visit to the restaurant and spa is a must . Having visited the ThermaeSpa, the hotel spa is easily comparable, only smaller. The hotel is a short taxi ride away from the centre (sorry, far too many shopping […] bags to consider the walk, although it is possible!). It was a lovely relaxing weekend. Read more
"Macdonald Bath Spa"
The hotel was very nice, a short walk from Bath town centre and set in a beautiful surroundings. The spa facilities were of a very high quality and the staff friendly. My only complaint would be that I was charged for parking in the hotel car park, that seemed a bit odd. There was also a rule against children going into the outdoor pool. I can appreciate […] other guests do not want to be bothered but we're responsible parents to our 10 month old daughter and she would have loved it.... maybe when older? much older obviously. "Macdonald Bath Spa - a lovely place to stay"
We stayed for 3 nights to visit Bath and see the Christmas markets. We've been regular visitors to this hotel for the last 4 years and so would recommend the hotel. Positives - Hotel very impressive, lovely Spa, Concierge (Andrew) was extra helpful, staff very accomodating Negatives - Lights in outdoor pool still not working (3rd year running), Car […] park charge seems penny pinching when the barrier is never in use, pillows not very comfortable Read more
"Great hotel."
Overall it was a great hotel. The decor, the room, the bathroom, the service, and the facilities are great. Location wise, we have to walk 15-20min to get to the center of Bath, but it is quite a comfortable walk. But you should be prepared to pay extra for anything else other than the standard room charge. Let alone wi-fi, morning newspaper delivered […] to the room cost 1pound each, which we were not told when we check in and should not be charged as a 5 star hotel. They also charge 1 pound extra for charity of their choice, which I don't mind but would be nice if we are told at the time of check in. And also outdoor parking costs 5 pounds per day despite the fact that they have a lot of car spaces. Read more
"Spa experince in Bath"
This was well worth the money...the spa area was 10 times better at the hotel than the Therma spa in town. I would have been disappointed to go to a regular hotel then only have the Therma spa experience. Staff were very lovely and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to unwind and have a spa break in Bath.
We very much enjoyed the Spa Hotel, Bath and in particular the staff and atmosphere was so friendly and helpful.
"Great hotel, Fantastic Location"
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during a trip to the UK. What a beautiful place! The accommodation had plenty of room for us and our 12 year old son (fold out bed - with a lovely thick mattress and very comfortable). The facilities of the hotel were also very good. The only downside is that a lot of the facilities, i.e jacuzzi, steam room, cold […] room and outside pool were not accessible to our son as he was under 14 and I feel this should be more openly advertised, although he was more than happy to use the indoor pool! We had a turndown service to our room and it was lovely to come back after an evening meal and find Classic FM playing on the tv, the curtains drawn and soft lighting on. We only had one meal at the hotel and this was breakfast which was quite expensive for the 3 of us at 52 pounds - that said it was very good! The staff could not do enough for you and were always extremely courteous and helpful. We would definitely recomme nd this hotel to friends and family and stay there again ourselves. Read more
