We weren't looking for the Ritz when we were down there — just a clean, reasonably priced place to crash overnight. And that's exactly what we got. The folks at the hotel front desk were courteous; the room was small but clean and serviceable. The bed was comfortable. The non-smoking room didn't reek of old smoke like some we'd been in. Bottom Line: I've paid more money for worse accommodations.

The hotels are of course never as clean and new as they appear in the pictures however, it was good overall. A couple of things... aesthetically, the security latch to the door was broken off and one of the drawer handles was missing. but we had a refrigerator and microwave in our room so we saved some money by shopping for groceries instead of going out every night. There is a Denny's in the immediate parking lot 100 feet away also. Overall I would come again, it's close to Moonlight beach and the freeway.

This was our second stay at this hotel; the last time was a year ago. It has been very clean both times. The staff are friendly & helpful. Room size & layout are typical for the chain, with a very nice bathroom. The 2 queen beds were very good. It is 3 fairly long blocks from Moonlight Beach (about 1/2 mile). However, be advised that walking back from the beach is all uphill. Our room has been very quiet both times, even though the hotel is about 1/4 mile from I-5. There are about 20 good to very good restaurants within walking distance. Access to the hotel from the street is excellent; It has its own traffic light.

Hard to see after taking the I-5 freeway exit onto Encinitas Blvd. and heading west. Hotel is behind a Denny's and its parking lot, so not readily discernible at first sight. The hotel is a minimally acceptable hotel, with smallish but clean room, given the price, but it does afford a very convenient location to getting to downtown Encinitas and access to the local beach, which are both nice. I wouldn't not recommend the hotel to someone, but rest assured you're getting what you're paying for.

This hotel is in a great convenient location in Encinitas.......but not really an easy walk to the beach. SO I would consider a GREAT place to stay within a 5 minute DRIVE to great beaches/shopping/eating. You could walk, but it is a busy road and a bit far to carry supplies for a day at the beach. The hotel was FULL but did not feel too crowded or noisy. Plenty of kids. Decent pool......but at edge of parking lot and no hot tub to warm up in. I would return here. But will also look into a place even closer to the beach next time. For the price we got it for on hotels.com I would DEFINITELY return. But it is just more of a place to consider a basecamp for adventures then to actually hang out at. Staff were friendly and helpful!

I didn't expect a whole lot and I got what I expected. The room was clean but the service could have been better. The only ice machine is on the ground floor which is a walk if you're on the third floor. The parking area is small so get there early or you'll have a bit of a hike. The TV in our room wasn't working and when I spoke to the front desk, the folks there weren't too responsive. I was told the repairman would be there at 8:30 the next morning but he didn't show up until after 10 and then didn't fix the problem. I thought it was strange that the lobby was closed for cleaning in the middle of a Sunday morning when many of the guests were trying to check out. If you're in need of a place to crash after a day at Legoland or one of the nearby theme parks, this hotel will do the job, just don't expect too much more than that

Days Inn, Moonlight Beach, Encinitas, CA is a great deal for the price. We've stayed there twice, at different times of the year, and experienced a quiet, clean place to stay with all the necessary amenities. The staff is friendly and helpful, it's a short walk to the "main drag" in Encinitas with all it's shops, cafes and restaurants as well as close to Moonlight Beach and the onramps for "the 5". We definitely recommend it. It's not fancy, but it's everything most people need in a hotel/motel.

The wall AC was too noisy, kept me awake, and you could also hear every one elses AC noise. The fridge in the room was noisy as well. Shower head was broken. The breakfast area was too small, crammed in the lobby, with few tables. People where checking out while you are eating. The room was not cleaned the first day when we returned. I have to admit thought that the price was not too bad. They also gave us a little discount as a compensation for not cleaning the room and changing the towels the first day.

Got what I consider to be a very good price on the room.....in the summer peak......at the last minute. Very close to the very cool Moonlight Beach and plenty of restaurants, bars, etc. Didn't eat the breakfast but being a small dining area, it appeared to be very busy so we decided again. No problem, Denny's is only (literally)75 feet away. As it says, all in all it was well worth the money.

I wasn't to sure about the hotel prior to arrival. But once i checked in and found out how close I was to the beach and some great restaurants (A great Pizza place, Mexican place, frozen yogurt place, and a good Bar and grill all located within 3 blocks) . I will be certainly going back. And for the price you can't beat it.
